Re-applying colour to a b&w image.

How does one re-apply the original colour to a selected part of the photo which has been converted to b&w ?
I can add b&w to selected part of a colour image but don't know how to do it in reverse.
Many thanks

Thanks DLS. I was actually shown how to brush the colour in but cannot recall how it is done.

  • Editing applies to all copies of an image

    Hi,
Had a quick look through topics, but I still need help!
I notice that as soon a I make changes to an image, the change applies everywhere. Eg, I have put a B&W version of one image in a book, but want to have a coloured version of the same image in one of my albums. But I can't seem to have both. When I edit one, the other one changes. I have tried editing in the library, in the album and in the book. I have also tried duplicating the photo, and editing that separately, but still can't have two different versions of the same picture...
    What am I doing wrong?!

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
GO back to the event where the photo is stored and duplicate it there so you have two copies (or as many as you want different versions) - then you can edit each of them as you want

That is correct - there is a photo (real photo) in the event and ALL other "copies" of it are aliases pointing to the photo in the event so any change to any of them reflects in all of them - this is why you can place a photo in as many albums, books, web galleries, etc as you want with no space penalty - it is one of the biggest features of iPhoto.

  • Can I apply more than one keyword to images from the Control Bar?

I swear this used to work. I select multiple images in a project. I apply a keyword to the selection by clicking a keyword button on the Control Bar. It gets applied to all the selected images. I click another keyword - it gets applied to only the first selected image.

Michael, thanks for that quick response! Yes, that was it. Of course I don't know why I would have selected that option. It would seem to make sense to put this option in the Preferences instead of Edit - it would make it less easy to change accidentally.

  • How to apply lens correction profile to multiple images at once?

I have a quick newbie question and I couldn't find an answer in a brief search that I did. Is it possible to apply lens correction profile automatically to multiple images at once? For my RAW images, LR automatically detects the lens and applies the correction profile for an image if I manually click on "Enable lens correction" option under Develop module (in the right pane where adjustments are made). However, I would like to do this to multiple images all at once.
    Thanks,
    Osho

Be careful using develop setting synchronization for lens profile across mutiple images! This allows applying an incorrect profile (i.e. Canon 17-40mm profile with synchronization to images shot with multiple lenses) First use the 'filter' tool to make sure you select images shot with only one (1) lens type. Then follow one of the procedures here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/WS0E6E6886-E223-4050-B6E0-A97B5B62EF7D.htm l
You can also change the "default" develop settings with 'Lens Profile' option checked and then save as the "new default" setting. LR will then "automatically" apply lens profile correction on import of new images.

  • CS5 - Applying Actions to Select Part of Image

    Hello,
I'm working in CS5. I'm new to actions and I would like to apply the action only to a specific part of the image. For example, for a portrait, I would like the action to apply to the background of the image, not necessary on the individuals face.
I'm not aware if there is a way to apply it to the entire image, then erase it from the areas I don't want it to apply, or if I lasso an area and apply it. I've tried it several different ways to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    Liv

I would like the action to apply to the background of the image, not necessary on the individuals face.
As the differentiation of fore- and background of an image can be a convoluted issue (have you ever tried to clip the image of a curly-haired person from a background of shrubbery?), it does not lend itself to automation easily.
I'm not aware if there is a way to apply it to the entire image, then erase it from the areas I don't want it to apply
If you work with Adjustment Layers or Layer Masks in general the Masks can subsequently be edited easily.

  • How to apply a gradiant to a photoshop image?

How do I apply a gradiant to a photoshop image?
I have tried looking at a number of online blogs and instructions but they were the wrong version -- or they assumed too much knowledge that I did not have and thus stepped over some steps.
I am using Photoshop version CS6

Here's a visual illustration of Charles' technique to help you along:
a.) Set the foreground color to white.
b.) Go to Layer > New > Layer
    Select the gradient tool.
Select the white transparent gradient in the drop down gradient menu.
Now draw your gradient.  You can select different gradient patterns by clicking the buttons next to the drop down gradient menu.

  • Aperture applying unwanted adjustments when loading an image

    Hello,
I'm having a bit of an issue with Aperture and I'm wondering if the community can help me.
My camera is a Canon Eos 600D.
    I'm running Aperture 3.4.3 on a Mid 2010 iMac 27", with 8GB of Ram.
Just lately, when I import and load images into Aperture, it seems to be applying unwanted adjustments to the photos just after it completes loading them.
    Let me explain further:
I take pictures on the camera. Previewing them on the Canon they look as I would expect, and I'm happy with them.
I insert the SD card from the camera into the Mac, and Aperture previews/shows the thumbnails of my photos, and they look just like they did on the camera.
I import them into a given library.
When viewing the thumbnails of the imported images in the library, they look the same, so I double click one to load it fullscreen. The image appears fullscreen, looking exactly as it did on the camera, and Aperture pops the word 'Loading' at the top of the image.
Them when it finishes 'Loading', it seems to apply some unwanted adjustments to the photo. Mostly it applies a yellow wash to the image, and in some cases, it radically adjusts the levels.
    See examples below:
This was what the image looked like after it had loaded:
And this is what it should have looked like (I had to edit it BACK to what it had looked like on the camera).
I should note that once Aperture has seemingly applied these unwanted adjustments, there is no way to undo them - 'Revert to Original' does nothing as as far as Aperture is concerned, this is the original image.
Again, notice what happens when I quick preview an image:
But when I switch out of Quick Preview, these unwanted adjustments are applied:
Please, can anyone help out with this - it's driving me crazy.
Is there a way of seeing what Aperture might be doing/applying behind the scenes? I've checked Preferences but can't see anything obvious.
    Many thanks in advance.
    dradd

    Are you shooting raw?
Aperture is not doing any adjustments after import. Probably you have set your camera to do adjustments and you are using in-camera adjustment settings, like D-Lighting. These in-camera adjustments are reflected in the camera generated preview, that you are seeing when you are importing the image. After that, when you are opening the image, Aperture will create its own preview from the naked raw image. And that what you will see in the viewer. This preview shows exactly what your raw image is like, without any adjustments done by the camera. If you want the image processing results from the camera and not the original raw image as recorded by the camera from the sensor, import jpeg and not raw.
See this discussion: TA24505 Why do d600 raw's look totally different than the jpg's that are imported together. When I select a raw, it looks as if it gets adjusted, but I can't figure out why...

  • Wanted: Script to duplicate objects and apply colours

    Hi
I am looking to pay someone to write a script which can duplicate objects and apply colours.
I have a full break down of the project together with a Illustrator Action that demonstrates the functionality of the required script.
If you are interested, please email [email protected] for full details.
You can also send me a private message.

  • Cannot Apply Colour To Imported Image

I have placed an image into my file, however, I am unable to apply any color swatch to it.  I have done this in a past, but I cannot figure out why my color swatches are greyed out.  See attached screenshot.
As you can see in the file below, I don't have the same issue.
I've gone through everything, and even tried different file formats.  Can't figure this one out.  Can any InDesign pros shed some light on this?

Ok, I'll try saving it as greyscale and no transperancy.
That was my bad, I just selected it for the screenshot, but when I was replicating the results earlier I had image selected and able to apply color.

  • Problem apply colour changes using curve?

I make changes to hue etc, using 'curves' and they appear to apply just fine, but then when I press OK/tick the photo reverts back to normal without the changes. If I return to the 'curves' tool, the colour settings I created are still there but it just doesn't seem to want to apply them.
I'm running the latest version of PS touch for phone, on the samsung galaxy note 2 GT-N7100 along with the latest revision of JB 4.1.2 with stock android. Would be very greatful of help.

Hello joerg. Thanks for your response. It turned out that I was actually being dumb. Ratherthan choosing the typical image setting located at the top of the screen, I was using the effects brush and the image settings for that tool, not realising that they changes would only apply to where ever I painted on the actual image.
There are still a variety of painful issues that I know are not a result of me being dumb, and I'm hoping they are rectified soon.

  • How do i apply a basic jQuery to my image gallery?

I'm using jQuery in order to allow an image gallery to show the same product in various colours. However the jQuery I'm using, animates the next image to sweep in from the left. And i just want the images to change in a basic way, so one image is on the screen at all times. Could someone please help me?
This is the current jQuery I'm using.
    <script>

        $("#red").click(function () {
            $("#img-red").show('');

            $("#img-etchedglass").show('');
                                    $("#img-blue, #img-red, #img-green").hide();

  • Colour washed out when using image processor in Bridge CS6

    Hi there
I hope somebody can help please?!
I am editing raw files in Camera Raw 8.2, then using image processor through Bridge CS6 to save them as both jpegs and tiffs.
I am finding the colour on the saved files is coming out a little washed out and faded.
If I open them individually and save them in PS6 as jpeg and tiffs, the colour remains vibrant and true to the original raw file.
I have thousands of these files to go through and don't have time to open each one individually in this way so I am desperate to automate this process while still retaining the great colour in the original shots.
Can anyone tell me why the shots are coming out this way and help offer a solution for me please?
Any advice would be massively appreciated!
    Many thanks
    Benny P

    Hi,
Do you have Include ICC Profile checked at the bottom of the Image Processor dialog?

  • LR 2.3 applies a green tint to RAW image AFTER making adjustments

    Hi all,
Thanks for having this great forum, it looks like there is some great information here. I clicked around the LR threads and the FAQ but I haven't found anything applying particularly to my issue/question, though, and I'm hoping some of you can help me understand what is going on. .
I have read about LR changing the colorcast on import, however in my case the images look fine after importing and processing. When I click BACK to an image that I have already processed, I am seeing LR 2.3 apply a green tint to it, and I have no idea why.
    What I am doing:
-Import Canon RAW files into LR collection (images look fine, no abnormal colorcast)
    Develop tab:
-I can click around the collection and view the images without any colors changing
-Process an image to my heart's content (image color still looks fine)
-Click to the next image and process the next one
-Mouse-over on the previously processed image on the bottom filmstrip, and preview shows up on the Navigator pane (preview looks as the image was edited previously)
-if I click to a previously processed image in the filmstrip, it will load into the center pane
-while the processed image loads here, the green tint gets applied to the image
-Color tint/green saturation has not moved from its previous position (even if it was moved during initial processing)
-In order to correct it, I either have to adjust the color tint slider about 20 points away from green, or dial down the green saturation to compensate.
Once I re-correct the image, I can click back to it again, and the mysterious green tint will no longer re-apply itself on this image.
This happens to most if not all of the images in the collection. I have only processed one other RAW collection in LR, but I did not have this issue.
I dont know what exactly is being changed to result in this green tint applying on its own, so I'm not sure if the adjustments I'm making are correcting it.fully.
I hope I'm detailed enough in explaining what I'm seeing, and that it makes some kind of sense.
Does anyone know what is going on here?
    Thank you!

Hi John, thanks for the reply.
Thanks, I'll look into the preferences in LR, although everything has remained mostly in its default settings. I've loaded JPG collections without seeing this either.
Would monitor profiles matter in my case? I ask because I am simply clicking back to a previous picture in the strip. When I leave the picture it looks fine, and returning to it shows that image but with the green tint. I haven't gotten to the point of exporting/converting the image, or anything further.
Some more information if it helps:
    Using MS Vista
    Using Canon Rebel XTi 400D
I copy only the raw files from the memory card to a folder, and then point the LR Import to that folder.
I will try replicating the issue on another computer in hopes to narrow it down. I am baffled.

  • Colour problems when printing - Photoshop image

I have created a small header image in Photoshop. It consists of a background with a number of layers using blue and grey (the grey colour is RGB: 202, 202, 202). I placed the image in InDesign and then converted to press quality PDF for printing. In InDesign I have also created a number of shapes (rectangles with rounded corners) which I have made the same grey colour (202, 202, 202). On the screen everything looks the same grey, however, when I convert to a PDF and print, the grey in the image I placed from Photoshop looks a completely different grey colour to the rectangular shapes I created in InDesign with the same background colour. The grey colour I am using is all 202, 202, 202.
I ahve checked colour synching in bridge and it is correct across the creative suite. I have checked output preview in Acrobat and they are the same. I have also checked profiles (assign profiles) in both PS and ID and they are the same.
The printer is an HP Colour laserjet 3800DN and when i do a etst print, the colours all appear to be okay.
Why when I print are there completely different shades of grey?

    Hi,
Just did all that. I converted imager mode in Photoshop to CMYK and created a rectangle shape with the same grey colour underneath it and printed it directly from Photoshop. I then converted image to PNG and placed in InDesign, created a grey rectangle underneath the banner image and printed and finally I converted to press quality pdf and printed. All still have the same colour difference between the grey colours.
The weird thing is the Photoshop grey looks weird - kind of washed out with some magenta in it.
I am beginning to think it is printer problem.
