Asha 501 can't fetch large MMS

My Nokia Asha will not receive pictures that are over a certain size limit.
If I send a large photo to the Asha 501, it says "Can't download message."
If I send a small photo to the Asha 501, it has no trouble displaying the photo.
I have 64MBs of free space, so that can't be the problem.
How do I remove the size limit?

If I recall right, the general MMS size limit is set to 300k in Asha 501. And in some countries the size limit can be as low as 100k. Also network operators may have their own limits. Same size limits (300k or 100k) apply to both sending and receiving MMS messages.
Typically phones would compress/downscale the photos before sending them via MMS, so this wouldn't be a problem. But if the sending phone does not compress the photo (for reason or other), then you may indeed run into this situation.

Asha 501- can't switch between browser or music pl...

while trying to switch between the browser and music player, I can't get the same old browser page where I was left. Instead it starts frm beginning. Not only music players, if I want to check any other app or info on my mob I can't return to the same browser where I was left.
Is there any way to avoid such thing.

I just found out that Nokia Asha 501 is fully compatible with Samsung headset. You can use the full feature of Samsung headset to control music. Play, skip track, stop, increase/decrease vol., call and answer calls. cool! So trash that red thing in the box and grab a Samsung headset for a full music and call control. I tried on my S3 headset.

Asha 501- can't take call using earphone

while i'm listening to the music, I can't take the call using the earphone microphone button. Instead I need to manually swipe the screen down and answere the call.
Also, I can't switch the radio stations or audio tracks with the button on the earphone. Its very annoying.

Asha 501 - Can't set individual contact ring tone ...

I cannot see any profiles in my asha 501. I need to manually adjust every time the settings, I can only see the silent option beside the mobile data pack.
Also, can't set indiviual contact ringtone, not sure if other phones in asha series support this

I think you don't check the settings.
The option to set individual ringtone is possible in asha 501. Its an asha but can do MORE.
Go to a contact open it,swipe from down tap on edit and now again swipe from down and tap on ADD DETAILS and there u find a RINGTONE option select on that and choose your favourite one.

Asha 501 can't select image for contact list

Hi,
I cannot see any option to select the image for my contacts list. Is there any software available to select this..or need to wait for the future release of asha platform 1.

Hi,
just navigate to the contact you want to assign a picture.
Slide in the menu bar from the bottom of the screen and press "edit".
The contact details appear and in the top-left corner are the initials of the contact and a small "+" sign.
Press here (the whole corner is ok, no need to aim for the +) and you can chose a picture from the gallery.

That was not the focus of the update. Unless a developer develops such an App, there's nothing else to talk about.

Asha 501 - Can't disable camera shutter sound.

I'm unable to disable the camera shutter sould. I've tried to move the slide but it doesn't respond. tried many times. can't find any other option to disable.
Am I the only one facing thie issue or it is by default.

Your phone does not have a virus. The warning comes from banner ads and pop-up windows on websites or from advertising in "free" apps. They usually try to trick people into installing useless software or malware on their computers.

It is unethical of the website owners and app developers to allow this, but it brings in a lot of money to them ...

By default your phone is set to automatically check for updates every 8 days and you will be notified when an update is available for download. If you want, it's possible to force the update check immediately by switching off and back on "Check via mobile data" setting from the “Phone update” menu. The size of the update is around 8 MB, so it's recommended to use Wi-Fi for the download.

Dear Nokia Software Employee,
Thank you for the new nokia 501 update.
However I am interested to get another new update concerning:
1) Wireless configuration:
It will include security mode of 802.1x, and EAP plug-in settings such as EAP-LEAP, EAP-PEAP, etcc....
2) Keep applications minimized instead of closed:
Sometimes there are some applications need to be minimized and not to be closed
Ex: Applications such Athan, Prayers, Quran, etccc...
3) Some Applications menu not working with screen touch but working with key buttons
There are some applications that you cannot use the screen touch under the menu
I will be greatful if the software will finalize the above suggestions

Why Asha 200 doesn't support WhatsApp?

Whatsapp is supported on x2 01 and x2 00 but asha 200 can not support whatsapp why?

Asha 200 is not officially supported WhatsApp. Actually most of the older Dual-SIM phone models were not supported. So while it might be possible to install WhatsApp on Asha 200 using the direct download link from the thread Abi99 pointed out, If you end up doing that, don't be surprised to see more or less bugs.

Asha 501.1: Wireless error: Can't load this page a...

Hello.
I have a Nokia Asha 501.1 running Asha Platform 1.0.
I am using this a test device and I do not have a SIM card and just trying to use the device over WiFi. However, when I open the Internet app and browse to a URL, I receive the following error message:
Can't load this page at the moment. Check your phone's date and security settings.
Is it possible to use the device without a SIM card and on WiFi only? How can I resolve this error?

Hi,
I'm very happy that whatsapp has come for Asha 501 with all most all the features. When I try to hold on any message it give me the option to copy the message to clipboard. But no paste option yet available.
Is this is a bug in the software or we can expect the paste option in future update.

This is actually what is happening with the rest of asha phones which don't have clipboard. Now because message text cannot be selected, whatsapp team included this copy option to copy the entire message to the clipboard. But it only works on phones which actually have in-built clipboard functionality. For the others, copied text goes nowhere and cannot be pasted.
This should start working when (and if ever) copy and paste from clipboard is enabled in the Asha 501.
