Re: Bizarre Broadband Service from BT :(

BT Service, don’t go there.
After being a loyal customer of BT for over ten years this is the saga and what you might expect if you reporting a fault.
It all started over three months ago when I first reported that I was having problems with my broadband signal dropping connections. At first things seemed to go well and after going through the usual tasks like changing filters changing Ethernet cables resetting the home hub and several other tasks all that did not make any change in the situation they said that they would send an engineer out, but I was informed that it would cost me £99 if the fault was found to be on my equipment. It turned out that it wasn’t and it was put down to an outside line fault. The engineer said he would try to switch my connection at one of the boxes and this seemed to work for a while but I was still having problems but I was now getting used to them and although they were irritating I was beginning to live with them as BT seemed to have no answer.
Then came the switch over on BT Vision (Oh yes I have everything with BT my phone, my broadband and my TV) I had been advised that the switch was coming and did as I was asked leaving my Vision box on although I was going on holiday. Sadly when I returned from holiday I had no TV.
I rang BT service the usual 20 minute wait till young lady in a call center in India (Or some other Asian country) came on the line. I explained my position to her then my post code, telephone number. Mother’s maiden name, and account number.
Conversation went like this.
BT. “How can I help you?”
Me. “I have no TV my BT vision doesn’t seem to be working.”
BT. “Have you tried resetting your vision box?”
Me. “Yes.”
BT “It might be your cable can you change your Ethernet cable.”
Luckily I had one so we did that
BT. “Is that any better?”
ME “No it’s just the same.”
BT “Is your vision box connected by an Ethernet cable or a Scart lead?”
Me. “A Scart lead.
BT. “Can you change that.”
Luckily I had one of those as well so we did that.
BT “Is that any better?”
Me. “No it has made no difference, may I ask you something I understand that BT vision as changed  recently could it need resetting or something.”
BT. Silence for a moment “I don’t think we have made any changes.”
Me. “Well I had a letter before I went away to say the BT vision was changing don’t you know anything about that?
BT. “No I haven’t been told anything about that?”
Me “I’m sorry but I don’t think you know what you are talking about can you put me on to someone who can help me.”
BT. “I’m sorry there is no one here who can help.”
Me. “Well I need someone to sort this mess out can you get someone to call me.”
And with that I hung up.
I went on the BT web site (the one they always try to get you to use) to try and find out how to reset my BT it was hard to understand unless you have a degree in IT but I did find out that my Vision box needed reprogramming and after some difficulty I managed at last to get a program.
The following morning I received a call from BT.
BT “Good morning I understand you are having problems with your BT vision box.”
Me. “Yes I was but I think I might have got it sorted.”
BT. “How did you do that?
Me. “I did a channel scan.”
At this point he asked me what I had done and I explained as well as I could and then he kindly offered to go through with it again. Nice man I thought, very helpful. But that was the start of my problem. He told me what to do and I followed his instructions to the letter but when we tried to rescan it refused to do so.  So again we checked leads changed filters restarted the vision box all to no affect.
BT. “Well we’ve tried everything I think the problem is with your Arial.”
Me “No way the Arial is working perfectly on my other set.”
BT “Well it can’t be anything else; it’s defiantly your Arial.
Me “look I’m sorry but I want and engineer to come out and sort it.”
BT. “If we send an engineer out it will cost you £100 for is visit.”
Me “You’ve got to be joking; you caused the problem I had it working now it’s up to you  to sort it out and I will not be paying anything.”
At this stage I was put on hold for several minutes. Then he returned.
BT. “I have spoken to my line manager and he says we will send an engineer out and you won’t be charged.
I thanked him very much but the problem they couldn’t send an engineer out for a week so I would have 7 days without my BT Vision.
The engineer arrived week later, within minutes he found my Ariel was working perfectly with a very strong signal but the vision box was faulty. He tried doing a factory reset on it and did manage to get it working. He said he wasn’t happy about it and if it went again I should ring back straight away if it went again.
Sadly it did go wrong and I rang BT explained the situation and they said they would send an engineer out to fit new box but earliest appointment was one week away. That would mean 2 weeks without BT vision.
Appointment day and time arrived but no engineer waited in all afternoon until 4.30 then rang BT after 20 minutes I got through. Apparently the engineer had called and there was no one in so he said but he thought the bell might have been faulty. I asked why he had not rung me as he had my number all engineers do have this on their job card. Answer “I’m sorry I don’t know we’ll have to arrange another appointment.” “When will that be?” I asked in trepidation.
Yes you’ve guessed it yes in another seven days.
And at this point I’m sorry to say lost my cool, and after some argument we managed to get it down to a couple of days.
Happy days at last new box installed everything working well, very nice engineer asked if there were any other problems, so I mentioned about my broadband signal dropping out, he checked my router asked how long I had had it, I couldn’t really remember I thought about eight years or so. His comment was this could be part of your problem you need to get a more up to date one because you won’t be able to get HD with this one anyway so it wants changing.
Following day rang BT service another 20 minutes wait to get through explained the situation but was told that I couldn’t have a new router as I wasn’t in an area that got BT infinity, I explained that I wanted infinity as soon as it was available but that wasn’t good enough was told that they would sort my old router out.
So here we go again changing cables switching box on and off checking my extensions the lot took about 30 minutes, and then was asked to install my router to the main telephone in box so that they could run a 24 hour test on it. Had to remove it from the computer to do this so I had now no internet connection, I was told to ring if the connection went down. Within one hour I had the connection drop twice rang BT took 35 minutes to get through after going through the third degree I was told that they were still testing and they would ring me the following day ad 9 am with the result.
I explained that I would not be in the following day so they offered to ring me on my mobile at 9am I received no call but sometime during the day I was contacted by text to say they had called and I was to ring a certain number and a pin but they would close at 9pm.
Called BT at 20.10 was on the phone for almost 1 hour all I got was “sorry we are very busy we will connect t you to an operator as soon as possible” at 21.05 decide not to bother any more as the place would be closed anyway
Rang again following morning again a 35minute wait, BT. “Sorry can’t tell you anything we are still checking apologized for not calling but said we will for definite between 16.00 and 18.00 today.
By 18.10 no call had been received so I  rang BT again 35 minute wait again and lo and behold we are back in Asia going through the third degree again telephone number (which he couldn’t grasp must have been slightly dyslexic) account number, mother’s maiden name, post code and all the rest, had to go through all the story again after 15 minutes he said I needed to go to higher level and  said he would transfer me and I was back to 30 minutes of “I’m sorry we are very busy” again.
Finally another Asian name I couldn’t get “Hello can I help you?”
Good start someone wants to help, Me. “Are you from the higher level.”
BT, “No”
Me “I’ve been transferred to speak to someone of the higher level.”
BT. “Well you’ve come through to me, what is your problem?”
We go through the whole story again,
BT. Well I’m sorry but I can’t help you you need to speak to someone on the higher level I’ll transfer you.”
At this point I’d been on the phone for 1 hour and 15 minutes and I was tired, frustrated and getting more annoyed by the minute. I told the gentleman that I had decided at that point that I needed to cancel my contract and try another supplier and I put the phone down.
After taking a deep breath and relaxing over a cup of coffee I decide to ring sales and see how I was fixed with my contract, what a brilliant move that was I got someone with intelligence and consideration, I explained my situation he was appalled by the way I had been treated, and apologized on behalf of BT he said he would check on screen to see if he could help in anyway.
He saw that he could see that everything I said was correct and surprise, surprise (as Cilla used to say) there on the screen was the answer to my problem, they had checked thing out and the reason and cause of my problem was a fault on my line that had now been passed over to Open Reach, Why didn’t the other operators know this and why wasn’t I told this before, why had I had to spend over 4 hours on the phone, why had I had to be without my broadband for three days.
I’ve had over two weeks without my BT vision and now three going on four days without my broadband, but what can you do about it  there is no one you can call to complain to, no customer service department no one to give  apologies, no offers of refunds for service not received and to rub it in you have to watch costly adverts on TV and in newspapers  saying how good BT is and how wonderful their new router is (according to the TV it never drops a connection) not like mine. You can believe this if you want to but I’m not happy with the service I’ve received from them over the last few weeks.

  • Shocking, service from BT - Trying to upgrade to f...

    Probably the worst service I have ever received, and half wish I hadn't got involved with BT; again!
    So 5 months ago, we moved house and started a broadband contract with BT for ADSL broadband. We had problems. I waited in from 1-6pm for an engineer to turn up. No show. Not surprised. Had to then spend ages on the phone to get another appointment booked. I can't fully remember how long this took but it wasn't quick. Anyway, long story short, we got it sorted eventually and have been impressed with the actual broadband service. It has been very reliable and consistent.
    Oh no, I forget, we did have a problem with a big drop in speed, this resulted in a lot of phone calls, and was not easy to get sorted, but we did in the end. So… 8/10 for service so far.
    It starts here; worst mistake, we decide to upgrade to infinity (which we have to have) to received BT sport through their TV package, incl. ESPN, HD, Eurosport and some documentary channels. Basically all the channels I used to watch on sky before we cancelled their service. Sounded good.
    17th Sept 2013 1-6pm - Engineer appointment.
    Guess what? Yep you guessed it… No show. (Just Google BT engineer didn't turn up; a healthy number of hits)! Not surprised, at 5.45PM I called BT to check if the appointment was still booked.
    I was assured, a number of times, that they will be with me by 6PM. 15m left, I didn't think so!
    I was right, no one turned up; again!
    Then it starts… Call after call after call to BT. No one knows what is happening. Admittedly, my partner has been doing the majority of the ringing. We get promised that BT will call back on a certain date. That day comes and we hear nothing. So we call; again! This person then may try and help, but leads us up the garden path and round the block. We are going in circles. They tell us there has been a problem with the exchange. We speak to another person. They say there is no record of this on 'the system'. They tell us someone will call ANOTHER day. No one calls. Honestly, this is going on an on. We have been put through to supervisors, after getting some ridiculous excuses, but still no one is taking hold of our problem/order/situation.
    Anyway, we get some good news and all looks hopeful...
    Yeah right… we follow the instructions and end up back at step one.
    So today I call. I've yet to lose my temper as I don't actually know who to lose it too! But I am getting so fed up with this I'm going to ring the complaints line. Well, there isn't really one, you have to choose technical problems or order problems or whatever to log a complaint.
    Before I ring, I look up the number on the internet and that's when I realise the internet has stopped working. The Broadband light is flashing. Here we go!
    So I call, she looks at our order and, just like everyone else, doesn't have a clue with what's going on. I explain again and she starts to work out what the problem is. Hurray I'm thinking, we're getting somewhere. She puts me on hold while she speaks to a different dept. Lots of holding. Lots of checking. She come back to me and says someone has prematurely closed the order, this is why the internet has gone off. After 45mins on the phone with her, this one was from the UK, she says that she has put an official stop to it. I have to wait 24hrs, for 'the system' to update and then call another BT number. Excuse me! I HAVE TO CALL. Yes, I do.
    Ok, so are we get somewhere now? I'm hoping so. Anyway, because of 'all the 'load of complete b******' I keep receiving, I decide to call this other number now, just to check the information. This number is for 'Technical support'. Mmmm. Doesn't sound right.
    After ages on hold, again, I get through to another BT guy. Takes him a while to get to grips with the situation and then works out what is supposed to be happening. On 'the system' the account is open. So I said, she said it is closed but will take 24hrs to update. He understands this and confirms that this is correct. Good, so I ask him if I have to call him again tomorrow to get this engineer booked out.
    He says "NO". I have to call another number and he said guess what? Yes, it is the number from the lady I just spoke to: 'Order management'.
    What the hell?!?!?!?!
    He seems nice and helpful and seems to know what he's talking about so at the moment I'm going with this. Tomorrow I will call and see what happens. If, as he said, the date is too far in advance, then push to speak to a manager to make it happen. Now I appreciate his advice indeed, but come on, why should I even have to call in the first place!!! But, rest assured, I will want an early appointment and I definitely want someone to turn up!
    I know I'm rambling on, but this is what the whole scenario is, constant holding, constantly going in circles and I'm writing this to show how bad BT's full service is. People are pleasant on the phone, but not efficient. Nothing is getting done. For christ sake this is a simple upgrade, just send me the modem and the new master phone point and I'll install it my end. I'm an electrician so isn't a problem.
    Can anyone tell me why there isn't one person that can take control of my order, liaise with all dept's of BT and sort it out for me? The fact that I have to call another dept is ridiculous after all this palaver!
    I'm not happy at all with the level of service from BT, very disappointed and would cancel if I knew it was going to be straightforward!
    My rant is ongoing, so we will see what happens tomorrow. No doubt on 'the system' it will say that an engineer turned up but couldn't get in!
    Hang on! My partner has just called up from her end! The person she spoke to says what we have been told is half wrong! They are going to call us tomorrow and book an engineer from their dept. What ever dept that is?!
    This is terrible. We deserve some compensation from BT for this. But at the very least, some help! We just need someone to help us!
    We are waiting for a call tomorrow. I will keep you updated. My hopes aren't high!
    So I tried to post…Of course, I can't because the internet is not working! I'll find another way to get it on. Tethering!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Wow! What can I say?! Ridiculous!
    I am going to keep the commentary flowing on my order, on this post, to let anyone thinking of joining BT, know exactly what they will have to go through when things go wrong. Oh yes, and things certainly can go wrong...
    So, I got a call back, 3hrs later than promised, but at least I got a call back!
    "What seems to be the problem, Sir?"
    WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! You are supposed to be finding out and telling me?!
    Yes, it was someone completely different who called me back and I had to go through the whole Sarga again. Dont worry, Im getting used to it!
    Why couldn't the same person call me back? Anyway, So back to step one. I get put on hold for 20mins listening to morning mood over and over. He then comes back to me and says "So you have infinity installed but you can't get on the Internet?"
    Seriously, 20mins on hold for him to come back and say that! We,ve already been through this 20 mins ago. I talks over me as I start again, in baby language. Off on hold again...
    Transfers me to someone else after a colleague has a look with him.
    On hold....
    Morning mood... Again...
    Hello Sir, we seem to have a problem with your order and I'm just reading the notes. Can you hold for a bit?
    More than happy too...
    45mins so far (at least I'm not paying for this one, as I have been using my mobile previously to call, and 0800 isn't free- No landline phone available)
    He comes back on the line....
    Yes there is defiantly a problem with your order, he says. (By the way, we,re back in the UK, up north somewhere)
    He asks me for the best number to contact me on, again, and says that he is passing it over to a specialist team, called the Akrington team, I think he will take a detailed look through my order with a fine tooth Combe, and DEFINITELY get back to me WITHIN 24 hrs.
    Naturally, as you would if you were me, you,ve heard it all before and are taking it with a pinch of salt.
    Well I say, this is the last chance. If BT do not get back to me, I will not believe anything else they have to say. I am upgrading from broadband to infinity, seriously, how hard can this be????
    If there is a problem with the order, and there are multiple orders open on my account, then find my original upgrade request, with the details of what I ordered, close everything and start afresh!!!! Obviously logic can't be used with "The system"!
    So today, again, I have wasted the best part of an afternoon of my life dealing with this rubbish and going in circles.
    PEOPLE, PLEASE BEWARE AND THINK TWICE BEFORE JOINING BT. I have never complained on an open forum, I'm the type of person who can't be bothered to, but in this case, I feel I have to otherwise I'm not going to get anywhere.
    I'm just hoping the moderators on this forum, who've I've heard good things about, can help me sort this out in the next few days. I know it takes a few days for them to investigate and get back to me, (oh, I wonder why they are so busy? Lol) but I think that's what I'm now relying on, the moderators of this forum.
    Rest assured, I will keep this post updated, with good or bad news. I just want to show someone else who hasn't joined BT yet, what they might have to go through...

  • Infinity roll-out kills Standard Broadband Service

    BT have rolled out Infinity to my area and since the roll-out my Standard Broadband Service has deteriorated to an extent that BT have confirmed they can longer guarantee me that service (despite the fact they are still willing to charge me for it)! Anyone else been impacted in this way?  I've been told my only option to obtain Broadband is to pay for the more expensive Infinity.

    Its not an issue in all areas, but the longer the distance from the cab, the more noticeable it is. Generally, if people are getting very low speeds due to distance, it does make sense for them to upgrade to Infinity, if its available.
    I believe that the Infinity pricing is fairly competitive anyway.
    Infinity has not really interested me because I get between 9-11Mb on my line, and I use broadband talk quite a lot.
    My local connection is not perfect, and one of the two pairs into my house are faulty anyway, and the current pair does have a HR somewhere, which can show itself if the landline is not used for a week (no DC wetting, if you know what that means)
    That can result in an occasional disconnection on an incoming PSTN call, but not enough to worry about.
    To fb3
    What connection speed do you get at the moment?

  • Remove BT Broadband Talk from BT Home Hub

    Hi
    We've just changed the package we were on with BT, and have been sent an email explaining that we need to remove our BT Broadband Talk service from our BT Home Hub, else it willl effect our bandwidth.
    The instructions in the email are for a Software Version 6.2.2.6 or 6.1.1.R, but we have version Software version 8.1.H.U (Type A).
    Does anyone know what I'm meant to do? What is Broadband Talk anyway? We've never had a telephone connected to our home hub.
    Thanks
    Julia

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
    What a strange request ... BBTalk certainly will not affect your bandwidth, and the service is ceasing in the beginning of 2014 I believe after a year's grace.
    Either the email is a fake or sent by mistake. Either way, you can just delete the email.
    BBTalk is a phone over the internet for users of hubs 1 or 2 on plain old adsl. These hubs had an attachment for a huib phone which was either included or sold separately. It enabled you to answer your normal phone line calls on it if set up, and to make calls over the normal phone line by prefixing the dialling with a 5. You had a different number associated with the hub phone, an 05xxx number or in most cases a number in the local area if requested.
    These are called VOIP numbers.
    The service is incompatible with BTInfinity or for newer hubs (3, 4 or 5) as these hubs are not DECT systems for cordless phones.

  • Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

    My broadband service has been down since the 11/11/2013, prior to this date I was able to receive 1.4meg and there after approx 190-256 kb. I have spent countless hours on the phone to India, had numerous appointments for engineers to visit, some turned up, some did'nt. I've had every excuse in the book rolled out to me, my case is being dealt with by a process that is either obliged to or chooses to accept any old bit of tosh sprouted by open reach (least thats what I am lead to believe). Has anyone any constructive suggestions as to what my next move could be.

  • PLEASE READ - Awful Customer Service from both Sky and BT

    For several weeks or more my broadband connection has been dropping off completely literally whenever it wants. There is no pattern, specific times or any clues as to why it does this whatsoever.  We first moved to the area I currently live in back in November'14 and there had been a couple of issues in the area causing broadband to go down. So we assumed the connection dropping was because of similar issues but it just kept happening so enough was enough, time to call sky. So the teach advisor does a line test which comes back fine and confirms the connection has dropped many times by looking at the history just as I said. They then do a 24 hour line test where they were supposed to call me back with the results, you guessed right....they didn't. So of course I was back on the phone to them, they confirmed the connection coming into the home was perfect. They then ask a number of standard questions regarding the setup and connection socket. We established the connection socket was an old one and 'not' a test connection socket.  The advisor then tells me their booking a BT Openreach Engineer because the socket will need changing for the Sky Engineer to test the connection. I also asked "Do you think it could be the router",  the advsor replied "I wouldn't put my money on it". This was great of course, already onto fixing it I thought.  So the day of the appointment comes and low and behold it's a SKY Engineer at the door NOT a BT Engineer even after establishing over the phone he wouldn't be able to test the connection because of the old socket. He knew nothing about the issue &  my perfect working router was changed to a brand new one along with the microfilter etc, which was fair enough because I ended up with a new one. Amusingly I couldn't keep my old one as a back up....jobsworth, this was of course SKY guessing & hoping it would resolve the issue even if it is the first thing to do they were wasting my time because they 'knew' the connection socket wasn't a test one. He said if it still continues then to call SKY and tell them a BT Engineeer will need to fit a Test Connection socket as we knew anyway. IMO this was unbelievable because regardless of this being their procedure I was given the wrong advice from a so called proffesional Tech advisor and they could have sent a new router in the post as well as booking a BT Engineer = waste of my time.  I finally got an appointment with a BT Line Engineer who turned up knowing nothing about the issue, he did a copper wire test and it come back perfect, he said he's never seen a connection so fast. The Exchange is literally around the corner hence the connection is so fast. He said as the copper wire test was perfect that's him done now but he will change the connection socket to a test one.  Whilst fitting it he said it could be the socket as it's old & the connection might not be filtering through properly. Once fitted it dropped & connected again 5 times or more in front of his very eyes, nothing more he could personally do.  When the line engineer was originally booked Sky's advisor also booked a call from their technical support (higher up) to call me in the afternoon after the engineer had been to see if had been fixed etc. I confirmed the connection had dropped after the new socket was fitted so this completely rules that out.  Due to the history of the connection dropping before my original call, Sky's checks and a new socket of course it's time to book a Broadband Engineer. So the lady says "we've established there is no problems within the home so it must be between the home and the exchange so the last thing to do is book a BT broadband enginner". She says "I'll put you on hold a minute whilst I see what appointments we can get".  To me astonishement she says they need to collect some more data and will call back in the morning at 9:30am. So she calls me back and says they are not going to book an enginner because I have been connected for more than 16 hours now. Well that nearly made me choke in disgust and shock simply because their log history of the connection dropping confirms I have gone much longer connected. Not just that but it dropped 5+ times after the new socket was fitted and in front of the enginner that changed it. So if that isn't an advisor not giving a dam about the customer and attempting to save SKY money I dream that just happened. As you can imagine I told her what a joke that was and hung up the phone, absolutely ridiculous and I am sure the majority of SKY employees would agree.  The next day just as I knew it would the connection started dropping again as & when it likes, random as usual. So they actually book a BT Boradband Engineer this time, finally. So the engineer arives once again knowing nothing about the job making him the 3rd person to arrive in the dark about the job. He believed the problem was SKY trying to speed up everyone's broadband for a number of months now even if there was only a meg in it. Because of this apparently my dsl noise-margin  was set at 3 and that was too low. So after discussing noise margins with me he went back to the exchange, called SKY who agreed 3 was too low and changed it to 6. He called back and advised me it should be OK now and to give it 10 days for the line to settle. Rather than running at a fragile 24meg it would be a steady 16 now he said, which I could cope with as long as it didn't keep dropping off. Later that day my connection starts dropping again and I knew full well this has nothing to do with allowing the line to settle. So the SKY advisor goes through the notes that the engineer had made, he mentioned everything we spoke about apart from something that shocked me. He has put down that he couldn't do an Earth *something* test because there was young children about. To my amazement not once did he mention that and if he had my partner could have took them upstairs. However that was that and another Broadband Engineer was booked. He turns up making him the 4th person that knows nothing about the job so after expaining the issue he seems very enthusiastic about the job itself so that was confident. After doing the same tests as the 1st 'broadband' engineer he can't find any issues either, so he climbs the pole 50 metres away from the house. He took it apart, cleared a bit of corrosion but nothing unusual. Then he tells me he'll get SKY to monitor the conection, he has another job to go to annd he'll call back at 3. It got to 5pm and still no call or knock at the door so I called SKY who's customer solutions contact BT who say the the issue has been put down as 'resolved'. I confirmed my connection hadn't dropped since so I left it at that. Because I wasn't at all confident it was fixed it was fixed I kept joking with my partner by saying "Resolved" every so often because of the engineer not calling back and the stress it has caused.  Surprise, surprise, the connection drops again the same evening at just gone 7pm (Saturday) so I am straight back on the phone to SKY. Having to explain everything again he puts me on hold to discuss it with a colleague. They put all the notes from every case into a new one as previous one's have been closed as the engineer's claimed 'reolved' when obviously it wasn't. He explained that it is being 'Viper' escalated now as a complaint to BT because they have given 2 frontline Engineers to rectify the problem & they haven't. So they booked a more 'senior' engineer to come out. SKY advised he will be given all the notes from the case & when they get confirmation of the appointment they receive a reference. SKY then contact BT with that reference and explain everything verbally as well. Whilst booking the appointment & speaking with me the broadband connection goes and so the does the landline so we get cut off. This happens everytime they book and engineer. and 2/5 advisors haven't bothered calling me back to contine the conversation, this guy was the 2nd NOT to call me back. The day of the appointment arrives and because I wasn't called back & received no confirmation I call SKY to confirm who do just that.  I decided to discuss more discount with this advisor because I had only previously received a small amount because BT Engineers keep putting the case down as resolved. On the Saturday the advisor offensively offered 65p because he does as the computer tells him....pat on the back for him. Thankfully the lady advisor this time was more understanding and applied £20 which was at least something. She also said she would speak with her manager and call be back in the morning with some offers as an apolgy because the enginner would have been out and fixed the issue by then. I was also advised it's the last thing that could try as he is a 'senior engineer'.  The so called 'Senior' BT Broadband Engineer arrives and regardless of what SKY told me about it being 'Viper' or 'Hyper' escalated he was also pretty much in the dark. Well as you can imagine that is just the icing on the cake, lost for words. Anyway, he does his tests & says "Sounds like all they've done so far is climb a pole". So he climbs the pole & replaces the cable from the pole to the exchange still confirming everything is fine. There is nothing more he can do and says I will need to call them if it happens again and say "What do you want to do"....shocking to the least.  He put in his notes/suggestions to SKY; should it happen again, replace the equipment at the exchange or book another type of engineer. I NEVER got a all back the following morning from the advisor that said she would call back with offers even though she said "I always make my call backs"..........looks that way. Of course the connection drops once again, this time when I call & after having to explain literally everything again I get put through to 2nd tier techincal support (something like that). The lady explains that she needs to book a BT REIN Engineer, this was definitely what she said as I asked how it was spelt and since googled it too for an understanding. She said she would normally take my case on because of everything I have gone through & it would mean not having to explain it everytime but she is going on holiday and not back until September. She apologised a number of times on behalf of SKY and arranged a call back on 6th September (I think) to discount me further as an apology. So apparently the REIN Engineer is booked, she told me to unscrew the connection socked and plug the microfiliter directly into the test part of the socket. Whilst she's putting the appointment through the landline goes off  which we were taling on as well as the broadband connection going off. When she called back she assumed I was doing the connection socket whilst on the phone to her. Absolutely not, so I explaine that evertime an appointment is booked with BT this happens. A previous advisor told me that BT does and automatic line test upon booking which is why the landline & broadband drop. She was absolutely adament that this shouldn't happen but that was that & the appointment booked. The Engineer turned up  and would you believe it wasn't until I started chatting with him and he'd already started tests that he realised I was expecting a REIN Engineer. He then told me that SKY cannot raise a REIN Engineer they have to (Broadband Engineers) & there's only 2 in the whole of North *my area*. Well again, what do you do but laugh or cry?, I went for the laugh where my blood was boiling.  He also said that there is no 'Senior' engineer as such and also said "If he put in his notes about changing the equipment at the exchange, why didn't here"....exactly. So the Broadband Engineer goes back to the exhange calls SKY who allow him to change the equipment & calls me back advising it's all up & running. I aksed "If it happens again is there anyone I can call directly", he replies; "I don't know, we have a number specifically for BT and I just spoke to someone called Chris who doesn't think it's REIN  *Facepalm* .  This BT Engineer actually did his job properly but for SKY to say "I don't think it REIN after all that is well......lost for words. If I have missed anything out of all this mess I guarantee if it's not incorrect spellings & grammat it's just more awful, awful customer service from both BT & SKY whom are business patners lol.  So SKY.....Is the Issue fixed?What was it?Where's my further discount?What offers you got as an apology? bear in mind I already pay around £80 per month for everything after call charges. So after this shambles I hope it's FREE. Oh and what are the odds on someone calling me? because evertime I get through it's luck of the draw & most of the time it's BAD LUCK. Although I have already spent literally hours on the phone to you I am glad I have got this on the net now as it will know become common knowledge. I have also kept a personal copy in case the Thread is removed.  Regards.

    Thanks for the info and of course the understanding, althought I am sure someone official browses it now & again my main aim was to get this out there. I had an issue a while ago with EA sports regarding their FIFA 15 game, to cut along story short I was incorrectly banned from their servers for apparently botting so I couldn't play online. Their customer service was diabolical, pretty much on par with this. After some research I found out they were the voted the worse company in the states so that said it all. After being passed from advisor to supervisor to manager and back again everything fell on death ears. So through Google I found as many sites & email addresses as possible and posted/sent my argument. It got as far as the EA president where it was all sorted and I was heavily compensated. If I hadn't of done that though I'd still be banned from their servers.  Will do exactly the same with this case, as everthing goes throught to someone as SKY in the UK it should be a dam sight easier than getting a reply from EA Canada etc.

  • Deteriorating Broadband Service

    There seem to be many people, myself included, who are receiving a deteriorating, or slower Broadband Service than they have had in the past.
    Mine has dropped recently from a 3.5/4.0 service down to a 2.0/2.5, which means the lower bandwidth is now preventing me from using the internet as I have in the past, for example BBC IPlayerHD is now unwatchable as it needs at least 3.5 to stream correctly, even Youtube video will not always play properly.
    I've had 3 engineer visits without any improvement, and this is currently in the hands of the care team.
    Why is this happening? I'm wondering if the rollout of Fusion has diverted rescources?
    Has the contention ratio increased?
    My car will do 'up to' 130mph today, but if it would only run at 70 tomorrow I would not be very happy, especially if the garage told me there is nothing they can do.
    I used to have a 3.5/4.0 service, so why should I just accept that if it slows to 2.0/2.5 its deemed to be acceptable?
    Come on BT...........more speed, or get Fusion running in Bedford next week...

    hi, I wasnt going to reply to this thread as i have already got a mod helping me with my issues, however my story is very similar and im going to share everything ive found out so far based on several engineers ect that have tested my line these last few weeks.
    Up until the mid of december we were enjoying our very good service, connected at around 6.5 -7 mb (bt logs prove this too) and never getting disconnected, in nearly 4 years id say u could count the disconects on perhaps 1 hand , its that rare.
    mid december and out of no-where we're down to 2mb. went the usual route of the un-helpdesk and ended up very frustrated and getting no where, so i posted on the beta forums which got a mod involved.
    hes done alot to try and get this sorted, hence the 4 or 5 engineers out checking everything , they find nothing. but were suprised that we were getting the fast speeds we used to. we live 3km from the exchange so in their mind we could neve get more than 5mb. but as ive said and as bt logs  prove we have been.
    the only reason we could of been getting more was down to us being one of very few customers sharing a rack in the exchange.
    One engineer i quizzed admitted to me that the exchange has alot less capacity now as it did last yr.
    Now the mod has done some things and in a last ditch effort has had my line "moved" in the exchange, so im now on the 10 day sync period.
    but with only a couple of days to go things are looking worse than ever. speed is down to just over 1mb now and come 4-5pm we are getting diconnected every 5 mins or so
    As alot of other ppl out there also suspect it seems bt vision customers are getting prioritised. bt wont admit this but it does help explain alot .
    ive reached the end of my patience now with bt and am looking into ofcom to see how they can help. Seeing as ive been provided a service at 6-7mb for the last 4 yrs and bt logs back this up i feel i have a strong case for making bt give me back that level of service, they are obiged to provide you the best service they can.
    If it means its going to cost bt a lot of money to increase capacity in exchanges to combat bt vision customers then thats their problem not mine.

  • Error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from Oracle BPEL..

    Hi ,
    We are facing some error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from our BPEL Process on the windows platform(SOA 10.1.3.3.0).
    For the BPEL process we are following the same steps as given in an AMIS blog : - [http://technology.amis.nl/blog/1607/how-to-call-a-ws-security-secured-web-service-from-oracle-bpel]
    but sttill,after deploying it and passing values in it,we are getting the following error on the console :-
    “Header [http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/08/addressing:Action] for ultimate recipient is required but not present in the message”
    Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

    Hi James,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    We've tried to call that web service from an HTML designed in Visual Studios with the same username and password and its working fine.
    But on the BPEL console, we are getting the error as mentioned.
    Also if you can tell me how to set the user name and password in the header of the parter link.I could not find how to do it.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

  • How Can I call a UCM service from SOAP request

    Hi,
    I have created one custom service and I would like to call that service from 3rd Party system via SOAP call. The 3rd Party system does not have the capability to call through RIDC.
    Now I have exposed my service and tried to call but authentication exception was coming status code 401.
    So I created one sample ADF application and tried to call the DocInfo service for testing (I thought let's try DocInfo then I will check my custom service). I downloaded the DocInfo service from UCM and  uploaded the WSDL into the project and got the client DocInfoSoapClient.java file.
    public class DocInfoSoapClient
      @WebServiceRef
      private static DocInfo docInfo;
      public static void main(String [] args)
        docInfo = new DocInfo();
        DocInfoSoap docInfoSoap = docInfo.getDocInfoSoap();
        DocInfoByNameResult res = docInfoSoap.docInfoByName("TEST_001603", null);
        System.out.println(res.getContentInfo());
        // Add your code to call the desired methods.
    The error is coming like:
    Exception in thread "main" com.sun.xml.ws.client.ClientTransportAccessException: The server sent HTTP status code 401: Unauthorized: http://xxxxxxxx:16200/_dav/cs/idcplg
      at com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.getClientTransportException(HttpTransportPipe.java:340)
    I tried a lot but same error. There should be some process by which I can send the userid and password but failed. Even I tried to send the properties as key value pair in IdcPropertyList but I know that is wrong.
    I checked the Issue: https://community.oracle.com/thread/2424460
    But there was no answer.
    Can anyone help on it?
    Regards,
    Santanu

    Hi Santanu,
    You need to write SoapHandler in order to pass username and pwd. You will need 2 classes namely HeaderHandlerResolver & SoapHandler. This is how i do in in my JAX-WS clients. I generate stubs and then attach handler to webserviceinterface
    PFA HeaderHandlerResolver.java and SoapHandler.java you would attach soap handler something like this in your code i have never done this via ADF so not sure.
    HeaderHandlerResolver soapHandlerResolver = new HeaderHandlerResolver();
    docInfo.setHandlerResolver(soapHandlerResolver);
    In SoapHandler class you will mention username and pwd like this
    soapMessageContext.put(BindingProvider.USERNAME_PROPERTY,"username");
    soapMessageContext.put(BindingProvider.PASSWORD_PROPERTY,"pwd");

    Hi i have followed the following steps which is specified in this thread
    You need to follow below steps...
    add a java parameter to the OSB server. Go to domains\osb_domain\bin folder and edit the setDomainEnv file and add this line to this file. set JAVA_PROPERTIES=-Dplatform.home=%WL_HOME% -Dwls.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dweblogic.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0
    Step 2 is to replace the bpel jars in the bpel transport ear. Go folder osb_10.3\lib\transports and open bpel10gtransport.ear and replace the following jar files orabpel.jar, orabpel-common.jar , xmlparserv2.jar and oc4jclient.jar with the ones you can find in the soa suite 10.1.3 home.
    But still i am getting the error.
    I am using WLS (10.0).Is it compatible with bpel-10g protocol, because i have already called a sync BPEL process with http protocol and it worked?This thread talks about WLS(9.2)

    It seems that through the IVR the web service is not even reached. I discovered this by inserting an external break point in the CRM Function Module which is called by the web service.
    Can anybody help me in resolving this error? I'm working on BCM 7 SP 6.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Swapna

    Hi Swapna,
    from your screenshot it seems that you actually try to call the service in your Data Source Expression field. You should set path to the WSDL file here actually - this could be either URL to SAP or to filesystem, as Anton suggested (this could be faster). Have you created endpoint binding for your service in transaction SOAMANAGER? If yes, then simply download the corresponding WSDL with binding or copy the URL which leads to it. But also test whether you are able to retrieve the WSDL without logging into SAP (close all browser windows and then open a new one otherwise session ID from other browser windows can be reused).
    If you have to give username and password, then setup anonymous alias in transaction SICF, for example.
    Pleas, check my previous post on the same subject here: Re: BCM7 IVR : SOAP request for client identification in CRM .
    Maybe it could help.

    Dawood.

  • Calling web service from oracle forms 10g

    Problem Description:
    I'm following the steps as per the doc:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gr2/howto/webservicefromforms/ws_10_1_3_from_forms.html
    to create a java stub to call external web service and then use java importer in oracle forms to call this web service from oracle forms.
    WSDL for external web service used is http://gend:83/DesignService.svc?wsdl
    The service was developed by us.
    Calling the web service using JDeveloper works fine but when I complie in Oracle Forms it returns wrong number of types of arguments in call SENDHELLO.
    The code from oracle form to call web service is as below:
    DECLARE
    jo ora_java.jobject;
    xo ora_java.jobject;
    rv varchar2(2000);
    ex ora_java.jobject;
    str varchar2(100);
    BEGIN
    jo := GendServiceClient.new;
    rv := GendServiceClient.sendHello('Nora');
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR then
    message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);
    WHEN ORA_JAVA.EXCEPTION_THROWN then
    ex := ORA_JAVA.LAST_EXCEPTION;
    message(Exception_.toString(ex));
    END;
    Any help/ideas on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    My primary skill is PL/SQL but the only information I found on Oracle's site to call a web service from a 10g Form was creating a jar file and importing the java class. Since I don't want to ask our corporate IT to make changes on the UNIX box for the jar files I went a different route.
    I use UTL_HTTP.BEGIN_REQUEST to call a URL then load I load the data to a table as a CLOB since we have more than 4000 characters. Now I need to parse the XML and load it into a form. I have never done this so if there is a helpful site please let me know. I have looked at several sites but none do what I want.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    On way we can call a web service is to pass the Web Service URL to UTL_HTTP package:
    Sample Web Service URL
    ===================
    lv_url :=
    'http://67.97.189.151:8888/plsqlsample/dbfunc?invoke=placeOrder'
    || '&'
    || 'param0=1'
    || '&'
    || 'param1=1'
    || '&'
    || 'param2=1';
    Sample Call using UTL_HTTP
    =====================
    SELECT UTL_HTTP.request (lv_url)
    INTO lv_result
    FROM DUAL;
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Balu
