Re: bluetooth PDA (Imate k-jam) internet connection to G4 powerbook

I have called Apple and they told me my device is not supported, so me connecting my laptop to my PDA to use as a modem to surf the net isn't an option..any other ideas?..I will call my PDA phone manufacturer later..I have also called Tmobile cell phone support and they also cannot help me cause my phone isnt supported...any other ideas..my friend is a sys. admin and he is trying to write me a code to set them both up.

I found this while doing searches for my own internet sharing problem. it's for a T3 but it might still help.

  • I am on vacation and I am unable to get internet connection using my Powerbook G4 (with built-in Airport). It is only showing a WPA Personal for the wireless security option and the resport password is being rejected. How can I get connected?

I need some help trying to get connected from a remote location with my Powerbook. I am a graphic designer on vacation and need to keep in touch with my clients. Need help ASAP!

Looks like you are working with a vintage product and the operating system is a little outdated, which makes it harder to troubleshoot. It's possible that it doesn't support WPA (depending on the Airport card built-in). Otherwise, if you can connect via ethernet, check for software updates. It even might be as simple as restarting the computer.

  • DO I NEED INTERNET CONNECTION TO CONNECT TO STEREO

I've taken my laptop and airport express basestatioin with airtunes to a new location where i don't have a wireless router or internet connection and my powerbook G4 is not finding the airport express when it is plugged in.
do i need an internet connection or can my airport express with airtunes connect my laptop to my stereo without the internet?

The "flashing amber" status light is normal in such a setup where the Airport Express isn't connected to a modem - so just ignore it.
Click on your Mac's Airport menu, and then click on the name of your Airport Express's wireless network to join it. Then look to see if iTunes can "see" the Airport Express speakers. If not, run the Airport Admin Utility - look if it "sees" your Airport Express and lets you view its configuration.
If this all fails, do a hard reset of the Airport Express and reconfigure it from scratch with the Airport Setup Assistant.

  • Internet sharing possible with PowerBook running OS 10.4?

My ethernet/wireless DSL router handles my internet connection. My PowerBook G4 OS 10.4 connects to my wireless router via AirPort.
My Mac Pro OS 10.5 networks automatically with the PowerBook via built-in ethernet. File sharing works fine between the two. I enabled internet sharing over ethernet on the PowerBook, and the Mac Pro can't connect to the internet. Obviously I'm missing something?
    TIA for any help.

The reason is geographical. I'm trying not to run ethernet cable thru the floor to the upstairs room where the router lives, and the wireless doesn't reach the basement room where the Mac Pro lives. The PowerBook has a spot downstairs where it can find the wireless, and the ethernet cable from it can reach the Mac Pro. That's my current set up, but if it won't work, I'll have to think again.

  • Windows Mobile 6 & BT stack - How to set PC - PDA - Internet connection

    Hello,
My configuration : another manufacture laptop with True Mobile 350 (Toshiba stack)
and a PDA Windows Mobile 6 PocketPc (Phone Edition)(TyTn)
I would like to use my PDA as a PAN server to use its internet connection with my laptop (PC -> PDA -> Internet. I've paired the two devices, but when I activated the Internet sharing on my PDA i've no feature on my laptop to access the PAN created by the PDA.
"The auto discovery is the only way to set up services. However, the PAN service doesn't display unless the devices are paired.
Toshiba can only Pair with devices seen during discovery.... "
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297561&highlight=bluetooth+intern et+sharing
I'm not the only one to have a problem and I have already installed the v5 of the stack.

    Hi
Did you already check this Toshiba Bluetooth "FAQ" and "How to" area??
    http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
There you can find useful HOW TO documents for example about:
    - InternetAccess on PDA via PAN using Notebook as Gateway
    - Browse Notebook-share via PDA and PAN
    - etc
Maybe you will find some useful advices.
PS: Sorry Im not a BT expert and therefore I cannot say much about this case

  • When I connect my headphones via bluetooth to my iPad 4 I lose my internet connection?

I recently upgraded to iOS 7.1 and along with the problem mentioned in the title there are many other, not so major problems but I can put up with them.
So basically before I updated I could do this fine with no problems but ever since it updated my Turtle Beach PX5 has been able to connect to my iPad via Bluetooth but as soon as the connection is established I lose internet connection which is extremely frustrating as I tend to FaceTime while I'm playing on a console.
If I go into the wifi settings no possible access points are shown unless I turn off my bluetooth. Although on one occasion I have been able to connect to both services but the bluetooth was very unstable and after 20 or so seconds it seemed to have disconnected itself.
It's extremely frustrating that I pay money for a quality product (might I add that I've very much enjoyed up to this point) expecting that both these services can run simultaneously when they cannot.
So I wondered if there is a solution to this? Has anyone else had similar problems? And is there any way I can downgrade as the newest update (for me at least) has been a major disappointment.

One thing you should definitely try is keeping your iPhone 4 connected via USB cable in your computer and restarting.  This should make the computer recognize that it is connected and as long as you have your iTunes set up to automatically open upon connection with your iPhone you should be all set!

AppleTV does not connect to a phone via bluetooth.
It has wifi and ethernet networking only.

  • Sharing internet connection over bluetooth

i have 2 computers less than 10 metres apart, one of which is connected to the internet broadband. the solution for sharing the connection wirelessly with this particular setup is rather expensive.
i was wondering if it would be possible to share the internet connection on the computer that has it over bluetooth with the other computer.
i read an archived response suggesting that it was. can someone confirm?
    just to be clear:
i hoping to have 2 computers bluetooth connected the second of which will be able to connect to the internet via the 1st computers connection.

While it is not explicitly supported by OS X, both machines can be configured to do this. For lots of reasons, I don't think that this is a good idea. Your Bluetooth link is so slow compared to either a wireless—or even much faster terrestrial—ethernet link, that it's not worth the effort to enable this service.
Save yourself a great deal of grief and disappointment, and get ahold of a relatively inexpensive ethernet gateway [wired or wireless] and set up a small local area network. You will be far more secure, and enjoy a far better level of performance than you would see if you attempted to create a Bluetooth LAN.
That said, here is a set of instructions for enabling internet sharing using Terminal commands. It's paraphrased from…
    http://www.macgeekery.com/hacks/pppoverbluetooth
In the Bluetooth preference pane's sharing tab, make a new Serial Port Service and name it bt-ppp and make it an RS-232 device. If it's on, disable internet sharing in the Sharing prefpane. Then create the following script [shown below.]
The script starts pppd on the new Bluetooth serial device you've created, then sets up IP forwarding, NAT, and the like. The en0 can be replaced with en1 if your primary net connection is AirPort. You can change the IP listed to something appropriate for your network, as well. If you put it in the range of IPs you're already using for your home network, natd is smart enough to work as a router instead of a gateway. Run as root, but—for the love of all that is holy and just—use sudo instead of su.
This is the script you must run in terminal:
    /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/tty.bt-ppp 115200 noauth local passive proxyarp asyncmap 0 silent persist :10.1.1.25 &
    /usr/sbin/sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1
    /usr/sbin/natd -same_ports -use_sockets -log -deny_incoming -interface en0
/sbin/ipfw add divert natd ip from any to any via en0
If you are unfamiliar with issuing commands from the Terminal or are not familiar with what these unix commands mean, I would suggest that you proceed very cautiously, and do more research before attempting this.

Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.

  • Share my PC's Internet connection to my iPad using Bluetooth / Интернет с ПК на iPad по Bluetooth

I have a desktop computer that has a Bluetooth internal adapter. It has an Internet cable.
I would like to use this connection on my iPad.
I know it works with an iPhone or, as I have found online, with a MacBook.
But how can a Windows computer be switched from the Bluetooth PAN (Pesonal Area Network) cliento to a PAN server?
Nothing I have done, the iPad has never shown the tethered icon. When the cellular is off, the iPad has no connection. Supposedly, the Bluetooth system is still working in the normal direction: iPad => Computer. What I need, is to switch it backwards: Computer => iPad.
Is it possible? If yes, please give me an idea how to do this.
    ====

Though your question asks about PC, your profile doesn;t say what computer OS you are using, but I can tell you how to do it on Mac. The process might be similar on Windows.
Pair your iPad to your Mac using these instructions.
Share your Internet connection on your Mac.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Sharing.
    Select Internet Sharing.
Choose the Internet connection you want to share from the “Share your connection from” pop-up menu. For example, if you’re connected to the Internet over Ethernet, choose Ethernet.
Select Bluetooth for how you want to share your Internet connection in the “To computers using” list.

  • Laptop to internet ok. Iphone to internet "connection to server failed"

Laptop to internet ok. Iphone to internet "connection to internet failed" can someone help me fix this?

I think bluetooth should be upgraded to allow to use
iPhone to connect to the Internet with any laptop
(i.e. Powerbooks or MacBooks), this is the only
feature I am really missing with the iPhone! Do you
think will be any software upgrade or third party
software allowing to do that? Thanks for sharing.
Wireless access from the iPhone is $20 a month. AT&T's unlimited access for laptops is $80 a month, and for other devices (PDAs, Blackberry, etc; the TOS forbids you to use the PDA as a wireless modem for a laptop) is $50 a month. Thus, if the iPhone COULD be used as a modem it would undercut all of the other wireless data services.
Anyway, you wouldn't really want wireless laptop access over EDGE; believe me, I've tried it. If you really need wireless access get a 3G aircard with a separate data plan. It's really worth the price to have DSL speeds over the cellular network.

  • New Toshiba wireless turns Internet connection off (thru Linksys WRT110)

I "commissioned" a new Toshiba A660 (customized) yesterday. We have a DSL line with Motorola modem and Cisco Linksys WRT110 router with one Cat5-connect.  For a brief period the Toshiba could access the Internet thru the wireless (I registered the computer and the Norton AntiVirus.) Subsequently I "activated" or allowed the Toshiba to self-install Bluetooth (built in, but, it appears, not listed in the device manager).
Before the afternoon was over I found that the Toshiba, with WiFi antenna "on" effectively killed my Internet connection.  My Dell, which was hardwired thru the Cisco could not get to the Internet; my Mac, which works wirelessly, could not access the Internet.  When I turn the Toshiba's wireless antenna OFF, Internet access to the other two computers is restored within 45-60 seconds. This situation persisted after a "Restore to Factory" procedure this morning, where the Toshiba killed our Internet access during or shortly after the "configuring the desktop" portion of the hour-long restoration.
Another call to, and call-back from, Toshiba tech support resulted in their suggestions that 1) I should see if my computer crashes someone else's Internet connection and 2) that it must be the Cisco.
The Toshiba behaves itself when connected to the Cisco via Cat5 (as long as the wireless antenna is not turned on).
So, Cisco, Do I need a router upgrade to keep the Toshiba from killing my Internet connection?
    Pat (and James)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If your new computer is running windows 7, disable IPv6 under LAN properties for both the wired and wireless adapters.  Reboot computer and connect again.
