I have a serious problem with my Notebook Satellite A210-15Y. For two weeks I bought it. Yesterday without warnings I had opened just one Window for Internet explorer and suddenly I received around 20 windows of IExplorer. I stopped all this with the Task manager and then I have looked for the update Window Vista updates.
After I have installed all those new updates, I received a black screen with a message like "Boot manager is missing, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". Excuse me for my English. I can explain my problem better in German or in French. Please help me.

Hi,
I just followed your instructions according to erase the hdd because I didn't have important documents on my hdd.
So I have booted on the CD/DVD and then decided to erase the hdd.
That was the only way to do if I wanted to restore the bootmanager. I did it and the product Recovery CD restored the bootmanager which was missing before. That is not a better way to solve the problem. Because we need to repair the system without erasing the whole hdd.
I took this solution because i didn't have important documents on my Notebook. But it can be very painful for another person who has important documents on his Notebook.
I will be very proud to read a better solution to solve this problem

Satelite L300 freezes with Windows Vista

I am using Satelite L300 Laptop with Windows Vista.
Once login its freezing, so I used to do Toshiba HDD recovery and formatted and installed with its Recovery tools.
Now its logging in with normal mode.
The problem is if I use multiple task or open a window or anything the laptop is hanging(freeze).
Again I have to forcely I need to start with safe mode and then normal mode and again I get same problem.
Can anyone tell me the solution?

Maybe some of your applications cause this issue
I think you should check what particular software could cause this I mean its not impossible that an 3rd party applications which is running in the background would be the reason for your troubles
Of course it could be also related to a hardware malfunction. It looks a little bit like a RAM issue but that just a personal suggestion.

Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive. Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes. At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.

nope all my songs are copied and organized into the iTunes library.

Filter Lens Correction is missing from the menu, along with adjacent filters.

I updated 1 day ago via Adobe Connect and it is now missing from the menu drop down. As well as the other filters in that general area.

By the way, no one has bothered answering to this topic. I'm saying sending feedback to Apple is a good idea, but that is the only way I could figure. Any other ideas from your side?

Satellite A210-15Y - How to install Windows XP?

I had Windows Vista and I upgrade it with Windows 7. Now I really want to install Windows XP.
When I put Windows XP CD in after a while I get an blue screen whit an error .
pls tell how to install Windows XP on my notebook and if I need some drivers to do it pls put links from whereIi can get them.

I think the problem is that you tried to install the Win XP without installation of SATA driver.
The A210 needs SATA driver in order to recognize the HDD.
You could also check the BIOS settings. There should be a option called SATA mode.
This can be set from AHCI to compatible and this will allows you to install the Win XP without the first installation of SATA drivers.
Please also check other threads here in the forum about the same theme!!!
PS: It's advisable to use Win XP including SP3!!! You can include the SP3 using the nLite software!!!

Strange devices on Satelite U300-15 after clean Vista 64-bit installation

I just got my Toshiba Satelite U300-159 (Model no. PSU30E-07901NN5)
It was a demo model used in the store where I bought it, so I wanted to make a clean install.
Using the recovery cd's didn't work. (Some thing about some files that couln't be read.)
This didn't really bother me at all since I want to run it with a clean Vista anyway, so I popped in a Vista Home Premium 64Bit UK + SP1 and installed it.
After installation was done I ran windows update to get a few more drivers for a few items that did not install properly.
After this pretty much everything was working fine.
Except:
I got two entries in the device manager called Base System Device. They are located under "Other devices".
I've looked around the toshiba site for drivers, but did not find anything that seemed like it was the thing I was missing.
(Actually I'm not sure that I found the correct support page. I got to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp and was only able to select 3 versions of U300. U300-ST3091, U300-ST3092, U300-ST3094 )
Everything on the PC is working fine: card reader, bluetooth, graphics card, wireless + wired LAN, hotkeys, sound etc.
The only thing that does not seem to work is when I put it into sleep mode. The screen goes black, the powerled stays on, and the fans keep running. Its not possible to bring it back again though.
Does anyone have a clue where to find these drivers?
Or perhaps just somehow fix the sleep problem?

I have just managed to get my Toshiba U300 working with a clean install of Vista x64 SP1 with all the devices in device manager installed correctly.
Heres what I did:
1. Install Vista 64bit SP1 DVD
2. Windows update laptop and tick all drivers too.
3. After a reboot, this should leave you with just the Base System Devices left.
4. Go to Toshibas website, in the 32bit drivers Vista Section download and install the Card Reader Controller driver and the Webcam Software.
The card reader manufacturer included the 64bit drivers in the 32bit driver download package.
Note: You only need the webcam software if you want to use it with messenger etc. even though the driver is already installed by windows the software is required for it to work and it runs and functions ok on 64bit o/s.

I recently tried to install PhotoShop CS4 on a Vista machine. I could not get it to activate, found out from Adobe that it was a bad serial number. So, I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall my good old standby - Creative Suite 1.0. This has worked for YEARS!
Now, I get the error "could not complete your request because of missing or invalid user personalization information" when I try to launch PhotoShop 8.0. All other applications of the Creative Suite are working. There is no serial number posting in the window of PhotoShop when I launch it.
I am sure it is something in the registry. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times with no success.
Can anyone help?

Original file missing after sync-ing folder with PS edit versions

Here's an oddly specific and challenging problem for you, I bet you can't figure it out (I'm trying to pluck your competitive strings).
I just noticed that some of my photos are missing from the library in lightroom, specifically the original versions of photos that have virtual copies edited in photoshop in folders that have since been synchronized. Weird, and very anoying. The files are still there (in wondows explorer) but when I try to re-import them lightroom doesn't see them, only the PS edited copies (.tif files). I told lightroom to allow duplicates and it sees all the photos in the folder except those missing ones. This does not happen to my PS edited virtual copies in folders that have not been synchronized. It is not a matter of stacking, or at least Lightroom does not think the PS copies are stacked at all so I can't unstack them. This is really annoying and I'm hoping someone can help me get them back into lightroom (preferably with the accompanying development settings) and also how to avoid this problem in the future. If you need any further details or screenshots let me know
PS: I import files from my camcorder using a different program because lightroom does not acknowledge that particular video file format. That's why I have to synchronize some folders and not others.

The first group are from one of the synchronized folders so only the PS copy shows up in lightroom. The second group are from a folder than hasn't been synchronized so the PS and original files both show up in lightroom.

Missing Sync refuses to work with iSync

My Missing Sync (version 5 for Palm) can see my Palm via USB and all other conduits (AvantGo, TimeSync, Photos) are syncing without incident.
However, it refuses to play nice with iSync.
• iSync is enabled in the list of conduits.
• Palm Syncing is enabled in the iSync app.
• A Palm device is listed in iSync and contact and calendar items are selected for syncing (selectively confining the sync to contacts or calendar items only does not fix this problem)
• I disable all other conduits (which work, but to be sure) and leave only the iSync conduit active in Missing Sync.
• I attempt a sync. The Palm chimes and its screen shows a sync in progress.
• The Missing Sync program also changes to show a sync in progress but then NOTHING HAPPENS. After 5 minutes the Palm device times out, and Missing Sync, despite the two constant barber-poles, becomes unresponsive. Even trying to cancel the sync by clicking the cross in MS is useless, which means I can't even check a log file to see where the problem is. I am forced to force-quit MS and relaunching reveals no iSync data was synced.
I have tried:
• Hard resetting the Palm
• Forcing the Mac to overwrite the Palm
• Clearing the iSync cache data and preference files.
• Repeatedly toggling the iSync conduit.
The main problem is the lack of feedback from Missing Sync about why the connection is hanging, or even what it is attempting at the point the process fails. The iSync log reveals it was "connected" but says no more than that. The Sync History log in MS reveals a sync operation starting and then nothing more.
Obviously the Palm and the Mac can see each other, and as I said, all other conduits work perfectly.
I note the following entries in this logfile at the point things fall over:

I guess I simply cannot fathom why you would want to synchronize a Palm device under Mac OS X 10.4.x using the iSync Palm Conduit instead of the Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks conduits supplied with the Missing Sync for Palm OS? What can this possibly achieve?
And, despite your report that the iSync Palm Conduit is active, this error entry shows that it clearly is not: Cannot recognize type of executable for CFBundle 0x35d6f0 </Library/Application Support/Palm HotSync/Conduits/Apple> (not loaded)
Apple is the Finder name of the iSync Palm Conduit. It appears in your Missing Sync—or alternatively, HotSync—conduit list simply as iSync Conduit.
Why not simply configure the Missing Sync to use its own specialized contact, event and task conduits and ditch the iSync Palm Conduit?

Missing field when printing labels with Address Book

I am would like to print the labels for my clients Christmas Cards, using AddressBook. When doing print > label, I get all their names and addresses on the labal formt that I want but the company name is missing. How do I get AddressBook to include the field "company" into the label ?

If you need to include the company's and individual's name, here's a work-around:
1) for each such card, you put the individual's name and leave the Company field empty.
2) Put the company name in the field for "Street"
3) Put the street address, including Apt. # in the field for "City"
4) Now, put the City, State, and Postal Code all in one field: the field for "Country".
5) save the card.
When printing labels, proceed as follows:
1) Print>File>choose your Avery label under "Layout" and then click "Label."
2) Here, you make sure to check the box so it will "Print country." Don't forget this step, or the whole plan is a failure.
This works, but it only works if the card is in-putted as described above. It won't work if your cards are already set-up with the "company" field and the "name" field.
