Re: BT hub 2 to 3, Any significat benefit??

 FAO "Keith"
Ive just had my HH2 replaced (with the HH2 although I was promised the HH3)
On the HH2 box its boasts 'up to 40m' although Ive recently committed to BT for a further 18 months to obtain superfast 'up to 80m'
Can the HH2 actually deliver 80m and can I cancel on the grounds that BT is not fulfilling its part of the contract. The best speed I ever had was a wired 25m with the first HH2 on the 'up to 40m' service Since 'upgrading' Ive never achieved over 10.5, either W/L or wired, and very intermittently with constant W/L drop-out with the old and new HH2's
It seems that BT would risk losing customers for the cost of (and very little cost at that with mass produced consumer electronic equipment) supplying good working equipment fit for purpose. Even the cabling used for Infinity connection is of very poor quality, and this goes right down to the stapling and install.

Simple question, but again no answer.
Off track a little, but in the early days of Freeview digital TV Sony actually admitted (eventually) that its digital TV's would not give a suitably stable reception if the signal level was below a certain db level; spectrum analysers had to be used in every customers homes (all FOC by the way) to check every single transmitter signal received, whilst other manufacturers equipment and most straight out of the box 'set top boxes' would work on, as the saying goes in the industry, a length of 'wet string'
I simply asked whether HH2 was capable of delivering the speed/s claimed for the service I am paying for (76.8 with Infinity 2) and committed to paying for for the next 15 months, with every month being religiously ticked off on the calender I might add.
What BT does not realise is most customers do not have time to spend doing countless tests and diagnostic procedures - that's why we pay the silly prices BT charge.

Could someone tell me how to control a small dc motor by using labeled and a NI 6008 daq.  The motor is adjustable by using a pot  that ranges between 0-V if that is of any additional benefit.

Read the second thread you have a link to. While both of these will produce PWM signals, the first one is a couple of orders of magnitude too slow to do anything useful in control the speed of a motor, what you would see would be the motor run at the full speed, then stop for a period, then run at full speed, rather than at the "average of on and off"  as the Pulse Widths will be very long relative to the motor's response. The second one has a better chance, IF all you want to do is run the motor. If there is any other calculations ...   Look at both and try and get an understanding of what they are doing. For PWM speed control of a motor you really need a pretty fast pulse width, and probably some filtering to smooth out the resulting "harsh" waveform, giving you the "average" voltage resulting from the PWM.

Return policy may be different from Apple's vs Best Buy. Regardless of crowds, only buy from Apple. Dealing with Best Buy in the future, if there's a problem it may not be worth what you believe to be a $40 savings.

My mac won't recognise my new belkin hub hardware. Any Suggestions? It used to recognise it before I had the hard drive replaced and now it doesn't.

Pull out all of your USB devices, and reboot. Now, replace the USB devices they way you'd like them to work. That reassigns the devices so you can use them again.
Respond here...I'm interested how this turns out.

  • Optimized hotdesking - any real benefit?

So in the advanced settings of the pool configuration, I see this option called "optimized hotdesking". It sounds great -- I mean we want everything optimized and fast right? We have 5 pools, so I enabled it on one and made sure it was not enabled on another, and then did a little basic testing. I disconnected and reconnected as fast as possible several times and timed myself. My results showed that I could connect, disconnect, and reconnect in 12 seconds with "optimized" hotdesking, and without it I needed 13 seconds on average. And that one second difference could simply have been a small correction in my password entry or something.
Has anybody noticed any big advantage of using it vs not using it? Am I leaving processes open on my servers and using their memory?
Also, what if a user initiates their session on one thin client connected to server A, then walks down the hall to a different thin client connected to server B -- uttsc has to be launched from the B server, so is that user seeing any benefit of this feature?
I'm just hoping someone here can give me more than a 1 sentence description of this feature!
    thanks in advance

  • Notification Hubs not finding any registrations

Hi - I'm having a problem where even though I have lots of valid device registrations, all of a sudden I can't send any push notifications, either through code or through and Azure management portal.
So if I go into either the Azure portal or the Visual Studio Solution explorer, I can see I have 140 registrations.  I can even watch registration operations happening via the monitoring graph.  In Visual Studio I can even get a list of all the
registrations and can see they are not expired, that the tags are correct, etc.
The problem is that I can't send to any of them because even if I do a random debug broadcast it just says "No registrations were found for the selected platform." If
I copy/paste a tag from the "device registrations" list of valid registrations I get a similar error saying there are no registrations for that tag.  I'm using the "Template" type and in Visual studio I can see that all of the devices
are successfully registered to that Type.
Thanks for any help you can offer -- I'm at a loss here because this used to work fine a month or so ago but then people started complaining they weren't getting notifications anymore and now I can't send anything.
    -Scott

    Hi Scott,
This could be mean there are no matching registrations specific to that platform send.
Example, if all your device are registered as template registrations and if you try to do a native send then it could fail saying that no matching registrations for that tag.
In order to help you to resolve this issue, could you provide your namespace name and hub name. And also provide me some insights on how you are sending notifications (I mean what method you are using to send notifications or from portal what options are
    selecting).
    Thanks,
    Sateesh

  • Is there any performance benefit in placing the LR Catalogue on an SSD

I currently have the LR Catalogue [16 Gb] on a WD Black HDD and read/write is OK but would there be any benefit in using an SSD?
My DNGs are stored on an HDD and I doubt any significant improvements would be noticed there [plus SSD's don't have the capacity yet].
    Any thoughts/experiences please ?
    LJ

Lightroom is pretty quick off the mark in terms of its read/write capability but it definitely does get slower [on HDD] when you've amassed 10K or more catalogued items.
Completely untrue, and if you believe this, it will cause you to do very unnecessary and harmful things to your catalog. People in this and other forum report catalogs of over a quarter of a million images running well. I myself have much fewer images, but still 25,000 images, without catalog slowness.
If you are experiencing slowness, it is almost definitely not due to the number of images; and you might want to describe in more detail what part(s) of Lightroom are slow, so that a better diagnosis and solution can be found.

  • Cannot access my blackberry hub nor make any settings/configurations to my device

    Hi
Yesterday my device started giving me problems which I have never experienced before. It firstly deleted my call log, then when I restarted it completely two days later it reset itself. I cannot access my emails nor configure my mailbox, my contacts are all gone, I cannot access my blackberry hub as it has been saying "preparing blackberry hub" for almost the whole day and I cannot send text messages or anything. Even if I restart it-with or without extracting the battery. Nothing happens. I haven't done any software updates lately. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to reset the phone.
Try this first and if issue persists consider the options below if possible.

  • ExpressCache & Outlook OST/PST - any performance benefit?

    Hey Guys,
Any ideas on whether ExpressCache helps with Outlook OST/PST access times?
These files that range in size from 1-5GB have a huge impact on Outlook usability when it comes to access times and I'm wondering if it's worth removing ExpressCache and partitioning the mSATA hard drive to manually place the Outlook OST and other often accessed data files on the faster partition.
    Any thoughts?

    Hello Joe,
You can use microsoft utility scanpst.exe or scanost.exe. You can also use exmerge.exe or Recovery storage group to recover corrupted file.
scanpst.exe. Also called Inbox Repair Tool. This is a free tool installed with your Outlook. It can fix most of the minor errors and corruptions in your PST files. More detailed information can be found athttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497
Try the Recoveryfix for Outlook PST Repair Software, is good to recover all your corrupted Outlook emails like calendars, tasks, appointments, deleted and missing emails and you also seen view the preview of recovered items. It will definitely helps you to
recover & copy your Outlook archive file. Download from http://www.repairostfile.net

  • Will AIR / Stage3d gain any benefit from the introduction of Metal on iOS?

This is just a question that popped into my head when looking through some of the new iOS docs but does the introduction of Metal on iOS give any potential benefit to AIR in the future?  Is there any plan / possibility for AIR apps to take advantage of this lower overhead access to the GPU using existing technology like Stage3d / Starling?  Or is this something that just can't be hooked up to the AIR framework?

It seems that I have solved my issue by performing a full factory reset (erasing all content, something which I had hoped to avoid) restoring from an iCloud backup did not alleviate the issue, I had to set up as a new iPad.
Hopefully anyone else else who has this issue in the future will be able to find this.

  • I am trying to connect my new ipad to my BT Home Hub but keep getting the message unable to join the network, Any advice?

I am trying to connect my new ipad to my BT Home Hub but keep getting a message saying that I am unable to join the Home Hub network.  Any advice?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • USB speaker does not work hi-speed USB 2.0 4-port ultra-mini hub

imac desk top port to hub - no sound

Does any USB thing show up?
    Of not...
    USB reset...
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device.  A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
    1. Shut the machine down.
    2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
    3. leave it for 10 minutes.
    4. Connect back up and reboot.

Will the 'Home Network' page show a HH4 instead of the Current image of the HH3?
    7:11
    JacquiBT:
Thanks George, Sam will answer that for you
    7:11
    Sam:
Hi George, the HH4 image will be displayed in place of the HH3 in the next firmware release
    7:12
    Dave:
Thanks again DS - you shouldn't find that, but this can depend on a lot of different factors in the home. I've found mine to be a bit better actually! But it should be pretty much the same for most customers.
    7:12
    Sean Donnelly:
Did you know the Hub 4 has Smart Setup?
Easy set up in just a few minutes. No CD or computer needed, it's all online and works on any device. Set up your Hub 4 router and access all your free extras like BT Cloud and BT Family Protection in just a few clicks.
    7:12
[Comment From DS DS : ]
Is it possible for BT to allow us to move the BTWifi SSID's to another channel, leaving our own SSID on a less congested channel?
    7:12
    Dave:
Hi imjolly, sorry for the delay, Emma asked me to reply on her behalf. We have made the stats in the Hub manager simpler for customers to understand, we were reacting to feedback that it was too general for the wide range of customers and tech understandings.

What speeds can I achieve over wifi, assuming I'm connected to 5ghz? Thanks.
    7:14
    Sean Donnelly:
Did you know the hub offers Easy Wireless?
Connect wirelessly by selecting your BT Home Hub connection on any compatible device and just push a button on the Hub and you're connected. It's that simple. No passwords needed.
    7:14
    JacquiBT:
Hi JamesS. Dave will reply to your question

    7:15
    Sam:
Hi DS, moving BT Wifi SSID's to another channel is not possible on the HH4. However, we are looking closely at the wi-fi SSID's the hub broadcasts to see whether we can improve this experience.
    7:15
    Dave:
Hi James, 5GHz maximum data transfer rate of 300Mb/s; this will tend to translate as an optimal actual speeds of up to 100 Mb/s - depending on lots of factors in your home

    7:16
    Dave:
Hi George - this was part of the design process, we've tried to make it even easier for customers to find their wireless information. Now it's not integrated it's a little bit more accessible.

    7:19
    Sean Donnelly:
Did you know that the hub 4 offers Dual band frequency which makes for a more reliable wireless connection?
Smart dual-band technology reduces wireless interference and drop out’s giving you a reliable connection for all your devices.
    7:20
[Comment From Guest Guest : ]
When you opt out of BT WIFI it appears to only opt out on the 2.4ghz channel and not the 5ghz channel. Are you looking into this?

How much power does the home hub 4 use?
    7:24
    JacquiBT:
Hi Winston. Dave will respond to your question
    7:24
    Sam:
Hi Josh, we are aware of this issue. This is a problem with the Xbox rather than the HH4 but something we are reviewing together.
    7:24
    Emma:
Hi the bennyboy, the main advantages of the hub 4 are the faster processor (3 x faster) and 5 GHz wifi. There is no interference with 5GHz so you get better performance and as the range isn't as wide you dont have to share the bandwidth with neighbours etc. the hub still has 2.4 GHz so you still have the range you have withhub 3 too!
    7:24
    Dave:
Hi Winston, I am afraid there's no simple answer as it really depends on what features are in use. But the Hub 4 meets the latest Broadband Equipment Energy Code of Conduct targets for energy consumption.
    7:25
[Comment From Mel Mel : ]
Why did you ignore your existing customers loyalty by charging them for a new hub, don't they pay enough already in their monthly fees?

    7:29
    JacquiBT:
Hi Jade. Emma will reply to your question.
    7:29
    Emma:
Hi Jade, thats something we are working on so yes something for the future
    7:30
    Sam:
Hi George. With regards to the manual power save feature, we have looked to make this automatic for all of our customers. However, you are able to change the brightness of the lights as an additional step.
    7:30
    Dave:
Hi Mel - we've made a lot of changes for our existing customers since the launch of the Hub 3 a couple of years ago. Our customer offer for the Hub 4 only £35 - a really big discount compared to the full price of £109! We've also created a range of recontracting deals that contain a Hub 4 for only the cost of delivery. If you're out of contract or in the last 3 months, you could take advantage of those offers as well. We really want all of our customers to be able to take advantage of these options!
    7:31
    Sean Donnelly:

Our house has very thick stone walls and the wireless is weak in certain rooms. We have a few devices in our house that support 5Ghz Wi-Fi. Does the HH4 also work ok with home plugs that use your power cables to provide network connectivity?

yeah I can tell, I know your quesitons are pretty good but if you notice that JacquiBT is deliberately choosing the questions she wants to go through. The whole chat is based around the fact that they have added 5ghz. I am appauled as I was hoping to at least ask one question.

  • BT Home Hub connection issue on XBOX 360

I have just upgraded from a BT Home Hub 3, to the BT Home Hub 4, before the upgrade I ran Sky TV wired, and 3PCs wifi, my Ipad and my Iphone. I also ran my XBOX 360 wifi, and a PS3 wifi, all worked no problem.
Now I am on BT Home Hub 4, all my connections are the same all working well apart from the XBOX 360.
I have tried doing the fix on the BT site logging into the Hub changed the SIDD and set the other bit to NO. this did not work.
I then reset the XBOX to factory settings as this was in another fix, I then reset the XBOX to the Hub 4, logged on to call of duty ghosts got half way through a game it crashed out saying no conection reset to test conection.
The Hub will conect to my XBOX 360 but only stay conected for up to 14 mins at most.
Do I need to go back to my BT Home Hub 3, Can any body help its starting to be a pain. As one good person said use a wired conection that would be good, but due to location would be hard. I did think upgrading was ment to make things better not harder. Please Help.

To add, I had on online chat with BT, they said that no problems exist about XBOX 360  and the BT Home Hub to do with wifi.
If this is the case why have a fix on the BT site, that does not work may I add well not on my XBOX.
I found BT online chat not much help in this case.
    Please advise and help

  • What USB 3.0 hub for a new iMac14,2 ?

    Will a new iMac14,2 support a USB 3.0 hub?
    What models work?
A scanner and a printer will be USB 2.0.  An external drive and CD reader/writer will be USB 3.0.
Is there a way to connect these devices to retain USB 3.0 speed on the USB 3.0 devices?

Yes a new iMac will support a USB 3 hub, however like ANY hub connected to an iMac it needs it's own power supply.
USB 3 is backwards compatible to USB 2, no need to worry about that.
