Re-building library prob

My zen micro has been acting up. First, it wouldn't turn off and all the keys were not functioning. So, I took the battery out and put it back in. It said it was 'rebuilding library' but it stopped half way through and said 'Firmware Problem'. Can someone help fix this?

Access the recovery mode of Zen micro (KB -SID6584)?and try cleanup option under the 4 given option. If it still doesn't fix the problem, do a firmware upgrade for ur player. Go to support/download link and select ur player's firmware to download. ?

Zen Touch is stuck in "re-building library" m

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#3333cc size=4>I have never had any problems besides this and I have owned my zen touch since Nov. 2004 but I also never updated any firmware or anything and now I can't because it won't power on unless it is plugged into a wall outlet, it doesn't power on by itself or through my computer. It just keeps going to "re-building library". It is not re-building anything because the bar only moves about /8 of the way and just stays right there. I just changed my battery thinking it was that but it is still stuck. I also did a "clean up" and rebooted and it didn't help either. Anyone have this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated because I can't update any firmware if it doesn't power on to get connected to my computer. TIA,

Tia, I also got my MP3 player around the same time as you and have been having similar problems. Mine was trying to rebuild the library for awhile but after a few tries of that it just completley turned off altogether. Now it tells me their is a hardware problem. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to try next?!

Yes, I read the FAQ :smileytongue: I JUST got my new Zen Micro and started putting songs on it. It started giving me trouble with the connection, but was ok for a little bit. After awhile I couldn't get a connection at all. My computer says there's no problem with the USB connection.
Also, it's stuck on the "re-building library" screen. I did the clean-up and reboot, but it still gets stuck there and I left it on for hours. According the the FAQ, it says ["Next you should try [url="http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=8&categories =Nomad+Jukebox+Zen#23]reloading the firmware/OS[/url], but beware if you are having connection problems also with your PC you may end up with a player that has no firmware and cannot be reloaded."] But I'm having a connection problem, so I shouldn't do this?
Ahh...someone help! I just got it and I haven't even been able to use it yet! This was after waiting a week for it to be deli'vered.

Connection problems can be caused by numerous factors unfortunately.
The best test if you're able to do it is check on another PC. To see if the problem is with your player/cable or the PC.

Player freezes at the re-building library scr

i've just got my new v plus. but while i was transferring music files everthing froze, so i plugged out my v plus and reset it. now when i turn it on there is "re-building library" screen comes up and never goes. this is the first day and i can't even add media into it. please help me !!

See the Recovery Mode sticky at the top of the forum.
Try ' Clean Up'.
If that doesn't work, try reloadng the firmware (which you can get from the Support link in the abnner at the top of the page).
If that doesn't work, try 'Format' which will erase *ALL* content from the player.

Re-Building Library Failure/Firmware Problem on X

I am experiencing a serious problem with a Zen Xtra 60gb. Last night when my brother booted up his player it went straight into 're-building library', not a completely uncommon experience, I know. However, this prcess failed to complete and stuck around /3 of the way through before moving to a 'Firmware Problem' screen.
Having searched through various forums I tried a few tricks:
Firstly, of course, I reset the player with a pin.
I booted into recovery mode and tried a 'Clean-Up'. This strangely cleaned 400% of the player before completing.
I also tried removing the OS and replacing it again. It is the latest firmware version.
None of these things solved the problem.
Therefore I would be very much grateful for your advice as to solve the problem, hopefully without losing the data. If at all possible, I would much appreciate someone sending an earlier version of the firmware to see if that works (currently using .20.08 ).
Windows XP currently detects the player, but presumably none of my software will work without the Firmware installed, but if someone could maybe point a way to back up the data on the player in a current state, we'd be extremely grateful (yes, I know he should have done that already).
Of course I'll ring Customer Support first thing tomorrow, but I'd love to get this solved quickly for my little bro as he's spent quite a lot of time getting everything he wants on the player and makign playlists.

If you've tried everything there and still get the error then the player is faulty and needs to be replaced. Contact Creative via the Support > Contact Customer Support link on this page.

My Zen Xtra's "re-building library" cost me half of my songs. Please help me o

I hooked up my Nomad JukeBox Zen Xtra (30GB) to my computer to put music on it when I see on the computer screen a little window saying the player isn't connected. I look at my player and it says low battery. So while hooked up to the computer via USB, I plug my player in to charge it, and all of a sudden the screen says "re-building library" and now every song I've put on my player over the last year is gone. Please help me out. Is there any way I could retrieve my lost music? I'm freaking out.

well you can try running the recovery mode...there is a cleanup mode in there that might help.

I was listening to my zen micro one day in the travel dock, I went to skip a song, and it froze. Then re-building library popped up and hasn't stopped since! I've taken the battery out, and have tried hooking it up to the computer, and nothing has worked. Has this happened to anyone? If so, how do you fix it's

I'll include some details in case anyone in Creative is interested:
Bought a TravelDock about 5 months ago. Since then used it at the office with my Zen Micro in it. At the end of the day I would turn off the whole thing, unplug it from the wall and leave it (with Zen Micro still in) put away until the next day. Whenever I travelled I would take the Zen out of the TravelDock and bring it with me to use with earphones.
After about 3 months my Zen Micro would not power off when I pressed and held the TravelDock's remote as instructed in the manual. The message "Shutting down..." would appear but the display never turned off. I had to take the battery out and replace it for the unit to turn off and rebuild the library. After that it would work fine...but when it came time to turn the TravelDock off I would get the "Shutting down..." deal most of the time. So I've been having to pull the battery out and back in again on most days after using my Zen Micro in the TravelDock.
One day (3 days ago) I brought the Zen+TravelDock home with me to sync some songs I had on my home PC so I could take them with me cause I was going to travel the next day. Synced fine. Unplugged it from the PC and put my headphones in to listen to some music while I was preparing for my trip. When I slid the power I just got "HARDWARE PROBLEM" and haven't been able to access any functions on my Zen since...
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Resume building library from huge directory

I have been trying to build my iTunes library but it is taking a very long time due to the fact it needs to convert about half the songs (4000). I have gotten up to about 2000 of 6000 songs so far but would like to use my iPod and come back to resume building the library later. Every time I try to do this it starts over and reconverts the same files making duplicates. How do I resume instead of adding the original folder to the library again?
What am I doing wrong? How can I build my library, use my iPod and not make thousands of duplicates?

This is not a java problem.
It is a VM problem.
So for the VM (vendor and version) that you are using it requires certain things.
It might be that the VM doesn't load 32 at all. Or that you have to do something different when you compile it.
A forum that is specific to your VM might be more productive (this site tends to be strongly solaris/linux/windows.)

Interface Builder Library?

Is there a library of additional items which can be imported into Interface Builder, either from Apple, third-party, or open-source projects?
Apple provides all the basic elements, but either I haven't learned how to take full advantage of advanced use of the existing items, or some other common items are missing. I would think with the insurgence of new developers and platforms, specifically the iPhone and Cocoa Touch, there might be additional packages or libraries available.
For instance, I like the revolving picker, but for something a little less flashy, a simple pop-up list similar to a web-based select, would be a great little item, allowing for single or multi-item selections.
I'm sure I'm not the first or only developer interested in being to re-use well crafted elements.
Another example is the info light or info dark UIButton. Since I didn't feel comfortable crafting my own programmatically, I put an info light button in my xib file, and programmatically put an opaque circular graphic right over the info graphic, userInteractionEnabled=NO, and voila, functionally the same, but the screen presence is different.
Having a larger library seems like just the thing.
Are there any out there?

Have you looked over Adding Custom Objects to the Library in the Interface Builder User Guide? That feature doesn't provide everything you're asking for, but it might come in handy.
It might be good to remember that IB doesn't create objects, and the xib file doesn't include instructions on how to create an object. IB just specifies an object which must already be defined somewhere. So any 3rd party icon library would not only need to have an API for IB, it would also need to include a framework or static library to actually create the new objects represented by the icons.
Another point to remember is that the appearance of an object in IB doesn't determine what an object's class will be at runtime. That's determined by the Class you specify in the Identity Inspector. So if you have a custom class in your own library, you can use that class in IB by dragging an "Object" (cube) icon into a window, then setting that icon's identity to the custom class.

Re-building Library Fail. Help!!!

My Zen touch 20gb crashed last night when uploading tracks and it froze, so I pushed the reset button. It then reported a firmware problem, so i went through the nomad stages of reseting, cleanup, and reloading the os. All seemed fine until I tried reseting the player to get it to work. Everytime I switch it on now it says 'rebuilding the library,' the bar fills but freezes towards completion. I then can't switch it off, and if I reset, I'm so far having no luck getting into Recovery Mode. I have backups of all the music, the player is relati'vely new, so I don't mind formating it. Is there any way to do this without going into the menu? And does anyone have any alternati'ves/suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

i don't think that it would be the firmware if it is a HDD problem, but when my computer HDD died it made a ton of noises,deleted files, and moved files around. Try using recovery mode.But as a last resort you could always try the "caveman method" (banging it on a hard surface)that seemed to help some people.

Newbee No Ipod but want to build library

I want to import my existing cds into library. I am connected to the internet, but the itunes won't transfer over song or album info. When I disconnect from internet. album loads with tracks but no titles. What is best way to get my Cds into I tunes?

Put yor CD in, click on the CD icon and in the top right hand corner you will see an upload disc button, click on that, then wait for it to download. Go to library and highlight the songs that do not have names (hold down shift and click on all of them,) go to the advanced option on the top bar and click on 'get CD track names'. You need to be linked onto the internet to do the second part.

How to deploy a single PBL (Build Runtime Library) in 64Bit

Hello There,
I am testing PB15 and create
two Project Files within the application. One Projectfile to compile a 32Bit Version and the other one to deploy a 64Bit version in P-Code. We are delivering today Patches in a Patch Library at the top of the library list (we are aware for the dependencies and know how to avoid the “Wrong Function Call” issue).
How can I create a Patch Library for 64Bit?
Today we just recompile the Patch.PBL two times and rename Patch.PBL -> Patch.PBD. But that did not work with 64Bit Project because I can’t choose the desired Platform (I am guessing it is always compiles in 32Bit).
There is an additional menu point “Build Runtime Library” which seems to have the settings / option similar to the Project settings. But there is the Platform the missing link either (see attached Picture).
So how can I get a single PBL compiled in 64Bit without deploying the whole Project?
BTW:
Compilation of the Whole app takes about 6 hours and results in full XCOPY deployment
of 730MB (in 64Bit), so we want wait that time or deliver so much files if a single
Patch.pbd of 500KB would be sufficient.

Hi Marco,
You should try orcascript to build your patches. It is much cleaner and faster.
I setup a .dat file with the orcascript and then run it using a .bat file.
this is my batch file command: OrcaScr125 build.dat >buildlog.txt
Note that the orcascr command is version specific. I have NOT tried this yet with PB 15 32 or 64 bit.
this is what the build.dat would have in it. The liblist has to be your lib list, same with the main applicaiton info.
NOTE: i regen a function in the script in order to set a patch date that users can see. Also, note that i copy the patch.pbl to a build directory, build it, then copy the .pbd to various locations.

Beta Photo library will not build.

Able to open the icloud.com and Beta photo. It just keeps saying building library......for hours, This is new and usually it open right up.

Please post in the Developers Forum as you agreed to. Beta Software cannot be discuss anywhere else as you were told when signing up for the Beta Testing Program.

[SOLVED] VMware Workstation 7.1.4 fails to start/build on kernel 3.0

Since new kernel 3.0 update I cannot rebuild vmware modules

or start the Workstation

I'm having trouble installing vmware workstation.
So I recompiled the kernel and nvidia linking it to the .0-ARCH.

Flex 2 charting trial watermark appears when building via Ant

The trial watermark appears when building with the flex Ant
tasks, but not via Flex Builder 2. I believe the Ant tasks set up
the compiler options with the same arguments in FB, and the build
library path is also the same, but the trial watermark still
appears.
The charting source has been extracted into the Flex SDK 2
directory, and the license key appears in the
frameworks/license.properties file. As far as I know, these are the
only steps needed to install the paid version of the charting
tools. If I missed something, please let me know.

Just an update on this issue:
If I run the mxmlc compiler from the command line, I found
that the output .swf does not have the watermark. It seems to be a
bug in the Adobe Flex Ant tasks. I've changed the build script to
use an exec call to the compiler instead.
