Re: canon EOS digital camera..

Transferring pics to imac some pics import and others show up as wrong format on the same import. I also used image photo to transfer to iPhoto same problem.

I've never heard of Image Photo, I am guessing this is some type of Canon software. Rather than using that I would recommend getting a card reader, connect it to the iMac and use iPhoto's Import function. If your Canon uses SD (I believe they still use CF) and you have an iMac with an SD reader use the SD reader.

  • Missing photos after import - Canon EOS Digital Rebel

    Hi,
After two calls to Apple Support I have solved this issue for this digital roll of 12 raw format images. Here are details for whoever might be interested.
For some reason, iPhoto 6.0.6 was unable to import all of the images from a Canon EOS Digital Rebel camera. 7 out of 12 downloaded fine, however iPhoto seemed to stall at 5 remaining.
Further efforts to rebuild photo library did not help, and the images were never transferred from the camera to the iPhoto 6.0.6 on MacBook Pro Intel (not in original folder).
Then I tried to import the images to the iPhoto 6.0.6 on MacBook Pro Intel via a different user. Then I deleted the first 7 images from the memory card, and tried to import with iPhoto and with ImageCapture. None of these worked.
Then a new memory card with 4 test images (2 large, 2 raw) did import to iPhoto ok.
Then I used Canon File Viewer Utility to drag the 5 images from the first memory card to the desktop. And then I reformatted that memory card.
Before deleting or reformatting the memory card I was also able to import the 12 images to a 12in PowerBookG4 with iPhoto5 version 5.0.4 ok.
From now on however I will be counting the images from card to iPhoto.

  • Can't install Canon EOS Digital Solution disk

    Hi,
Have got a problem installing 'EOS digital solution disk' which came with my Canon EOS 400D digital SLR camera. Here is a description of what happens:
I click on 'CANON EOS Digital Installer' icon as instructed. First something called 'MasterInstaller' launches, and I select 'Europe' then 'UK' when prompted. The main menu appears again and I select 'Install', then 'Next' then 'Easy Install'.
I 'Agree' the terms, then hit 'Next' in Starting Installation window.
At this point, 'Installer' launches and a window appears with the text "Preparing to install ImageBrowser" (with a blue striped barber pole type line beneath) but nothing happens. The blue stripes do not 'move' as is normally the case when something is working. It just locks up, and usually the Mac beachball of death will spin. I've tried leaving it ages to sort itself out, but nothing changes.
When I go into the 'Force Quit' option from the pull down menu in Finder, (as everything is stuck) the 'Installer' and 'MasterInstaller' are usually highlighted in red, I guess meaning they've either crashed or got lost. Sometimes the Finder joins in too (being highlighted in red).
I'm not running any other applications, and I've tried doing a Custom Install, (instead of 'Easy') and choosing only 1 application at a time, and disconnected my external drive but to no avail.
I tried emailing Canon, but they have just suggested I try loading it onto another Mac but I don't have one or access to one either.
    Some help would be appreciated.
P.S. Gave disk to my partner to try on his PC and he said it loaded ok, so I assume it's not a faulty disk.

So it still said Keys out of order ? That is a pretty serious error that Disk Utility rarely is able to repair. I would run it again and report to us exactly what is reported when you attempt a repair (not verify) please.
    Hi Dale,
    Well, the plot thickens....
I kept running the DU repair (about 5 or 6 times), and interestingly enough kept getting EXACTLY the same message:
    Checking HFS Plus volume
    Checking Extents Overflow file
    Checking Catalog file
    Keys out of order
    Rebuilding Catalog B-tree
    Repair completed
No details or other messages about what the specific problem was. (Is there a way to find out?)
Well, I took another look on the link you posted and ran an 'fsck'. (I still have no idea what that means but it sounded as if it may throw up some info.) Indeed it did and here's what appeared after I typed '/sbin/fsck -fy':
    ** /dev/rdiskOs9
    ** Root file system
    ** Checking HFS Plus volume
    ** Checking Extents Overflow file
    ** Checking Catalog file
    diskOs9: 0x8 (UNDEFINED)
    Keys out of order
    (4, 1886)
    ** Rebuilding Catalog B-tree
    diskOs9: 0x8 (UNDEFINED)
** The volume Mac Hard Disk could not be repaired.
    sh-2.05a#
(Hopefully there aren't any typos, I just typed this in myself, having written down the info on paper.)
Obviously the DU knows there's a problem, but simply thinks it's fixing it every time I run a repair. A bit like Groundhog Day I guess....
    Now what??

  • My canon EOS DIGITAL ver 24.0 in not working with mac pro os x

MY CANON EOS DIGITAL SOFTWARE VER 24.0 IS NOT WORKING WITH THIS VERSION OF MAC OS X

I have a Mac Pro (2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core, model identifier MacPro5,1) purchased in late 2010 and a 24" LED Cinema Display. The Mac Pro has three video ports--a full-sized DVI and two mini DVI. When I plug the Cinema Display into either of the mini DVI ports, I cannot get a picture, although the iSight camera works fine. If I plug another monitor into the full-sized DVI port the computer believes that is the only monitor. The Cinema Display works fine with my MacBook, so there is nothing physically wrong with it.
Is it not possible to use this monitor with a Mac Pro without an adapter, even though the Mac Pro does have mini DVI ports?

  • Downloading images from Canon EOS 7D camera results in corrupted images.

    Hi,
I'm struggling to download images from my Canon EOS 7D camera. The images appear corrupted on my hard drive. This does not happen consistently. Some images get corrupted, but could appear properly when trying a second time. The errors occur in EOS Utility or in iPhoto: same (bad) result. I tried to repeat downloading on a Windows machine (separate) and in a Ubuntu environment (Virtual Machine on my mac). In both cases, I had no problem. Canon states that the problem resides in my iMac. The dealer of my camera mentioned that if they see those problems, it usually relates to bad connections or a poor USB cable. I also tried several USB ports and cables, but could not resolve the problem that way. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I've had this issue a few times and found it falls in to a few buckets, just a few things to consider if the images show up fine in the camera but not when you copy them out.
    1) The format (version of RAW in my case I was using with Aperture
    2) The reader
    3) The drive
    4) The connection
Format: when I first got the 7d I wanted to use the RAW.2 version. The .CR2 file format (Canon RAW version 2) is a digital photography RAW format created by Canon. "RAW" here means that this file stores information directly coming from the sensor, almost without processing. This file would show up corrupt every time i tried to open in in Aperture, or IPhoto on my Power-Mac
G5. I could only open it up in the supplied Canon software After some poking around I found out that I had to upgrade to Aperture3 to get the new supported RAW formats. Since I can't buy a new mack I changed the version of RAW I used.
Once I changed from using that RAW format it was fine. There are times Aperture will say that the file is corrupt but
when I restart the application it is fine I think there are some memory issues when it does this and I have to reboot the application over time.
The READER:I used to use a USB reader which was fine for the 10D but with the 7D and the 5D the files are much larger in RAW from 10 megs on the 10D to 25 megs or more on the 7D/5DMk2. After shooting 500 - 1000 shots in a night I'd have to download overnight in order to get everything. Some times the file would be corrupted coming over. If I pulled the file off later one by one or in smaller groups it would be fine. I have since upgraded to a Firwire 800 cards reader. Hours becomes 10 minutes for a 16Gig fill loaded card. not 8-10 hours.
The Drive: I've seen every files copy except 1, if I am able to hook up another drive and it works I run DiskWarrior, TechTool or SoftRAID. Usually thy confirm a bad sector in the drive. I'll back up the drive with time machine or a disk dupe software and then format the drive it it's part of a RAID I replace the drive entirely from the chain.
The connection: bad cables have also been a culprit but not often with firewire.

  • Canon - EOS Digital Rebel T1i

Hi! I want to buy Canon - EOS Digital Rebel T1i 15.1-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera - Black, and on bestbuy website says: "digital camera that features an 18-55mm image stabilized zoom lens" But when I come to store, I saw this camera and this kit lens without IS. How it can be?? is it different products, in local store and in online store?? Thank You.

I don't know what the lens was there, but "Stabilizer" or something like this isn't on it , and the bestbuy worker said that this kit camera doesn't have IS.
Ask to see an unopened box that includes the kit.  If it claims that the lens has IS, purchase the unit and open the box in the parking lot to verify that it is an IS lens.  Hard for them to argue that you pulled a swap if you come immediately back from the parking lot.  (The longer you wait to open, verify, and return, the harder it is to return an "inconsistent" unit.)

  • Support for tethered shooting for Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i

I just read online that Apple Aperture 3.1.2 won't tether to my Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i under OS X 10.6.7.  Is this true?  If so, is there a workaround or some software I can install?
    Thanks,
    Joe

BTW - in case anyone is wondering, I've tested this... Canon T1i does work with tethering. (this camera is natively supported by Aperture for purposes of tethering)
For any cases where there is a camera which is not supported directly, there is also a work-around which should work for almost any camera.
Go to the Aperture plug-ins page:  http://www.apple.com/aperture/resources/plugins.html
Look for a plug-in called "Aperture Hot Folders" (direct link is here:  http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/aperturehotfolder.html?cmp )
The plug-in monitors a folder (of your choosing).  Any image which shows up in that folder will automatically be imported into an Aperture project (it's on-the-fly).  Essentially you'd use the Canon EOS Utility to do the tethering, which requires that you pick a target folder where it'll save all pictures you shoot during the tethered session.  You then tell Aperture Hot Folders to monitor that same folder and import any images found into an Aperture project. It gives you the ability to create tethering support for any camera that can do "tethering" even if Aperture doesn't directly support the specific camera (by using the manufacturer's own tethering utility.)

  • Photoshop Elements 9 and cannot open Raw files from my Canon EOS 1000D camera.

I am using Photoshop Elements 9 on a Windows 7 based PC and would like to know why I cannot open Raw files produced by my Canon EOS 1000D camera.
I have checked the version of the plug in as 6.5 for raw files which is supposed to open .cr2 files and should be compatible according to Adobe site info.
    any ideas for next move.
    Mick

    Hi,
According to all of Adobe's charts, the Canon 1000D should be supported by the basic PSE 9 even without updates. When you said you checked the camera raw version in PSE, did you do that by going to the Help menu and selecting About plugins -> Camera raw?
The Canon 1200D requires ACR 8.4 which is only compatible with PSE 12 - so for PSE 10 your brother would need the DNG converter.
I can't find a sample raw file to try (I do have PSE 9). If you want to upload a sample file to dropbox and give me access, I could try it on my system.
Have you tried opening one of your files on your brothers system?

You can't directly but can use DNG Converter to convert your files so ACR can read and process them.

    Thank you

    Hi, rich_fred.
As the Canon G15 is a very new model, support is not yet available through Camera Raw. In the meantime, try out the software that came with you camera, to see if it can export a TIF or JPEG, which should open up in Photoshop just fine.
Hopefully support for the G15 will be available in the next Camera Raw update. You can find a list of supported cameras here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.html

  • I have a Canon EOS T2i Camera and I want to import the RAW images into Aperture.  How do I import them as RAW images instead of jpeg ?

How do I import RAW images from my Canon EOS T2i camera into Aperture and have them show up as RAW images and not jpeg images?

See the list of supported raw formats:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
The footnote ** for the cameras  EOS Rebel T2i EF-S / 550D / Kiss X4**  says, that the raw format is only supported with Aperture 3. So you will have to upgrade to Aperture 3, to be able to import the raw from from your camera.

  • Canon Flash 430EX 11 to go with my Canon EOS 70D camera with an 18-135mm lens.

I purchased a Canon Flash 430EX 11 to go with my Canon EOS 70D camera with an 18-135mm lens. The flash displays the icon confirming auto zoom only intermittenly and when it doesn't, twisting the camera zoom does not display on the flash screen.  All batteries are charged and the flash is locked on to the camera.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm not entirely certain I understand your question.  The 430EX II has can be put in a mode where it automatically follows the camera zoom (within limits... 24mm to 105mm) but you can ALSO put it into a mode where you manually control the flash zoom.  If it's in the manual control mode then it will not automatically zoom.
It is important that the "wide" panel NOT be in-use (if you pull out and flip down the wide-panel then the flash will go to wide angle and will not zoom EVEN if it was in auto mode.)
Press the Zoom button, then use the - / + buttons to change the zoom.
When under manual control there's a black "M" icon which will appear next the word "Zoom".  If the "M" is not present then it's in auto zoom mode.
Lastly... when you change the zoom on the camera lens, typically nothing will happen on the flash UNTIL you wake the system by doing a half-press of the shutter button.    When the camera wakes up to meter and focus... that's when it adjusts the zoom on the flash head.

I have a Canon RebelXS digital camera.  Do I need to install the specific Canon Software to my IMAC to upload my photos or will IMAC software support this upload?

I think you'll find that iPhoto will recognize your Rebel and load it's pictures (does for my RebelXT).  If you don't want to use iPhoto, then yes, you'll need to download the software that came on a disk with the camera, and possibly update it (from the Canon site) based on the operating system you're running.
