Re Captivate 4 Error Message

Hi Guys, I am just in the course preferences and want to publish the work, but I keep getting this back? 'Enter a valid comments location to continue'?
I cant see what needs to be checked here or if I have checked something by mistake that has triggered this? I have been setting up the SCORM setting but again there seems to be no commenting boxs or location assignment boxs??? Any ideas welcome. Cheers PC

Hello,
The comments directory is normally where you'll have reviewer comments posted. Could you check the Preferences (Edit menu) and see which path is indicated? Perhaps it is an invalid path, you do not really need to indicate one there, but it has to be valid if you do.

  • Having HUGE issues with captivate 4 and vista- receive MP3/wav error messages and 0x80070005 error codes- Is there help out there?

Just uploaded Captivate 4 Educator Version to my vista machine (Dell XPS M1530).  When right click Captivate 4 in admin mode, Adobe Acrobat 9 loads/configures.  [Question- Why does this happen every time, and can I stop?].  I then I import my ppt.  Then all the wav files embedded in the ppt come up with another error message unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file.  Then when I go to do text to speech, I can pick out the person "Kate" but I also get the same error message- unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file.  HELP!  There has to be another person out there that has had a similar issue.

Not sure what to try here. I am completely new to Captivate so would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Thanks--

    Hello
Uninstall Captivate 5.0 from your computer

In order to download Captivate 5.0 follow the instructions mentioned below
Step 1 > Click on the Url mentioned below
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=captivate
Step 2> Login with your Adobe Credentials at Captivate 5.5 Download Page.
Now donot click on download and just stay on the same page
Copy and paste the URLs mentioned below in the same web browser one by one

    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/5/win32/Captivate_5_WWEFDJ.exe

  • Error Message when closing Captivate v4

I have just started to get the below error message when I close down Captivate 4.
Things seem (repeat ...seem) OK when I open Captivate again, but any error message is a worry, especially in Captivate.
Does anyone have any ideas what this is all about, and how to fix the problem it refers to?

  • EXE published Captivate File in window 7 throws error message

    Hi Guys,
I have been struggle with this problem for a couple of days.
    My setup:
Window 7 Professional with two account set up.  One is as Adminstrator, and the other one is the standard user account
UAC is turned off so it does not ask me to run the app with adminstrator rights.
My company will not allow flash.  Thats why we have to use the EXE file...
The exe file runs fine under adminstrator account.  But when I try to open it under the standard user account, it gives the following error message.  This message will keep appearing when I click on the exe file.  I am pretty sure the exe is probably trying to access some folder for read/write access and the standard user account is not allowing it to do so.  Any help would be very grateful!

I have been delivering courses in the .exe outputs offline for CD delivery and have had many end users using it on a variety of computers with most people accessing it with non admin rights. Still, no one has complained of similar or any other issue yet. There was an issue with Captivate 4 for which a patch was provided later that used to deal with the fakeflash file somewhere in the captivate folder, and the interesting thing was that the .exe didn't use to work on those computers only that had captivate 4 installed.

  • Strange error message in Captivate 5

I have been working on a large project for days now, and I have been able to successfully preview the project in the browser each time I have tried until I tried this morning. When I attempted to preview the project, I got an error message that I haven't seen before. I did a search on the internet for the error and only found one other reference to the same error, but there was no solution available.
Here is the error I recieved:
"Publishing failed due to insufficient memory. To troubleshoot this issue:
    1. Add the environment variable, JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS with the value: -Xmx256M.
    2. Restart Adobe Captivate and try publishing again.
If you still get this message, specify a value greater than 256 in the environment variable."
My system specs are as follows:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64
    Intel Xeon e5-1650 @3.20GHz
    16 GB RAM
This is a time sensitive project. Please help soon!
    UPDATE EDIT:
I tried adding the environment variable JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS with the value of -Xmx256M. This did not work.
I tried uninstalling JRE and reinstalling the latest version. This did not work either.

OK, I got it to work. I made a mistake in the order of operations, I think.
If you should recieve this error, this is how to resolve the problem if your system meets the same or similar specs as mine:
    1. Check your environment variables and look for the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS. (Environment variables can be found in Windows 7 by clicking Start > Right click on Computer > Click Properties > Click Advanced System Settings > Click the Environmental Variables button.
If the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS variable exists, delete it.
    2. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and remove all instances of Java, or Java Runtime Environment software.
    3. Download and install the latest version of Java from the developer's website.
    4. Once you have verified that you have the latest version of the JRE installed, go back to the Environmental Variables.
    5. Under the System Variables (NOT the user variables) click New.
    6. In the box next to Variable Name, type JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS
    7. In the box next to Variable Value, type -Xmx256M
    8. Click OK, then click OK, then click again to close all the windows that are open.
    9. Close Captivate 5 (if it is open) and restart the application.
    10. Publish your project.
It should work fine after that. If it does not work, try restarting Windows and then publishing again.

  • Captivate freezing Error Message

    Hi,
Captivate continues to freeze randomly through projects. I get the error "A fatal error has occured and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate has tried to save all your work in the respective project folders as ".cpbackup" files. Please restart Adobe Captivate."  I restart, yet I continue to face this error. This has happened to me 3 times already and it's very frustrating. I basically have to start over on my projects. My projects are saved to My Documents folder. I've tried clearing the cache.
I went through uninstalling and reinstalling Captivate but I got this error message after it finished: This is on a Windows 7 pc.

Exit Code 6 means that some of the supporting components for the application are not installed correctly.
Reason : may be they are already installed on your machine or they didnt got uninstalled when you tried to uninstall the application last time.
Try launching the application, it should work.
now for the error that you get with the project.
Please try to create a test project and see if you get the same error on that project as well.
if you do not get this error with the new test project, then try to copy all the slides of the original project into a new blank project, save it with a different name and then check.
    Thanks

Why do I get Publish Failed Error Message when trying to publish a project to SWF. I am using Captivate 6 (32 Bit) Version 6.0.1.240. I have tried clearing the Cache and renaming my Preferences folder

    Try the troubleshooting tips here:

You may have something in your project on one of the slides that is tripping up the publishing process.

  • I am receiving an error message that my Adobe Captivate zip file is not a valid SCORM, AICC or IMS Content Package. What am I doing wrong?

I am receiving an error message that my Adobe Captivate zip file is not a valid SCORM, AICC or IMS Content Package. This zip file has been published identically to my previous zip files. What am I doing wrong?

First, go back into the CPTX source file and check that LMS reporting is indeed turned on and that it is set to SCORM etc.
If that is OK.  Republish and use the Zip option in the Captivate Publish dialog settings to zip the file.  Don't zip it yourself.
If your LMS still rejects this zip file, upload to SCORM Cloud and see if it rejects it too.

  • Captivate 4 - question slides - error message attached to Next button

    Hi there
For users who may try to skip ahead and not take quiz questions, I wondered if there's a way to have an error message appear if they try to click Next without answering the question.

    Hi Alicia
As you mentioned that the day you imported the audio into Captivate slides you started facing this issue. So try to export the audio from any one of the slide, save it on your desktop, create a new project in captivate, add an image, button on that slide and import the same exported audio. Observe that are you facing the same issue or not. If not, then try to copy and paste the slides in new project with same dimensions.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

  • Blank error message when publishing to YouTube or to mp4 in Captivate 6

I am trying to publish a captivate file to youtube and receive a blank error message box that just says Adobe Captivate with a big yellow exclamation point. I also tried publishing as media (mp4) and get the same error. Screen shot included below.
The Top Issues article (http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/release-note/top-issues-captivate-6.html) for Adobe Captivate 6 includes the following note:
You may observe a blank dialog box or blank error prompts while publishing projects to YouTube. This issue occurs if the name of the Adobe Captivate installation folder contains unicode characters.
I tried renaming the file and the application so it didn't include numbers or underscores and then realized that even letters are considered unicode - so obviously that didn't work.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm having this same problem! I also tried to change the name of the application folder but this did not make a difference.
Also tried changing the resolution size of the project as recommended by someone and this did not make any difference.
I'm at a loss. Wish I could get my money back for this product!
My resolution of the project is 1145 X 730.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Marlyn

  • "unable to load wingenerator.dll" error message in Captivate 4

Has anyone run into the "unable to load wingenerator.dll" error message in Captivate 4.  I didn't see this type of error in v3...so just wondering if it is an issue with this version.  I have to save my project after every change in order to not loose my work.  I get this error and then the program crashes without saving my work.

    Hello Cat,
Welcome to our community. This sounds like the Windows registry has either become corrupt or has an incorrect permission. If you are using Windows XP then you might want to take a look at the following blog post

If you are using Windows Vista then I would suggest that you contact Adobe using the Adobe Captivate Feature Request/Bug Report Form

  • Error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003

Is anyone else getting an error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003?  I tried all 4 types and still get the following:
"An error was encountered while publishing to Word.  Verify the following and try again.  Word is installed on your system.  Word is not busy."
Word is installed on my system and was not in use, so I am not sure why the error.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there
I use Captivate 4 and it publishes to Word 2003 without issues.
Perhaps it has to do with the way your Word 2003 has been installed? Either that or it's a "rights" issue to be addressed by your IT propellerheads?

  • Captivate 6 - SWF Compilation Failed Error Message Rears Ugly Head

    Hi all!
I'm attempting to publish a project using Captivate 6 (with Flash Setting 10 or 11). I am publishing to my desktop, Windows 7 OS, and the message further states the thing about ActionScript and user variables having the same name or something. I've seen the message all over the forums, so I'm sure it's not new to you. I have not created any user variables, so I'm at a loss as to what to check here.
My original problem was trying to get embedded videos to publish. I kept getting this "busy" looking icon and nothing ever happened. Now I can't even get the project to publish. Any help would be appreciated. I sold my boss on this great feature, yet can't seem to get the videos to work. Thanks in advance!!
    ~Shelia

I'm was having this same problem for over a week now. I hunted through countless post with out finding a solution. It's not just with one project but all even fresh ones that have no varibles or actionscripts. I've uninstalled both Adobe Flash, and Java, and reinstalled them. I've also had a team member open my projects and was able to Preview and Publish them with no problem. I installed the same version of Java he's using with no resolve. My system is Windows XP Pro 32-bit, so it's not an issue of running the 64-bit version and switching. I have tried all the quick-fixes here with no change to the error message. My IT team has uninstalled and reinstalled the program as well.
    BUT!!
I have found a solution which I am very surprised no one has suggested yet. This is what worked for me, using Adobe's dcache.exe tool, I cleared the Adobe Captivate Cache folder, reopend the projects and BAM, they compiled.
    Good luck everyone.

  • Captivate crashes after "Runtime error" message

    Captivate v5.5
I am creating question slides and when I clicked to edit the text I got the following error message
The result was Captivate crashed and - of course - I lost my work.
Does anyone know of this issue and what the cause is and how to correct it ?
    Noel

    FYI.....
    Update on this issue
This morning I got some great help from Adobe Tech Support, Priyank Shrivastava.
After his kind help, checking my PC, tweaking some default folders etc I uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate v5.5
Then I created a brand new project, inserted 3 Multi Choice question with default buttons and when I tried to edit the text box I got the same error message as displayed on my initial posting.
Priyank had suggested that if the error happens again, maybe my User Account is corrupt and so I am now waiting for my IT people to create me a new profile to see if this fixes the problem. I dont think it will...dont know why, just dont believe it will.
Unless anyone reading this thread has any suggestions or has had a similar experience - I am at loss what to do.
I cannot work in Captivate now without saving each time I add a single word or after each and every action - so I dont lose my work when Captivate crashes - which it does now on a regular basis
I will inform you of any positive developments.
