Re-Color Art shifts colors around? How do I assign colors?

How do I get the Re-color art to leave the assigned colors where they are. I have an item that comes in various color combinations. When I select re-color art and click on a pre saved color group, recolor art remaps the colors to different areas. I have a bag line featuring different cloth colors and the thread is a different color than the fabric. When I click on the next color group the color for the thread is assigned to the fabric with no rhyme or reason. If I could change the item color by using this tool, then it would be massively useful when a minute change in the item occurs. Rather than having to change 200 templates 1 at a time, I would only need to change 1 template that has all 200 color groups stored in it. That saves thousands of dollars in tedious modifications. If the only thing that recolor art does is shift colors around and allow you to effect hues and saturations, then it's useless for my needs. Cute parlor trick though.

Mylenium,
A bit touchy aren't we. The sarcasim is paletible. As for "prepare your swatch groups properly". The answer is yes. This is how I change colors on simple one or two color objects already. My statement had nothing at all to do with blaming any one or thing least not you Mylenium. I asked a question, which you obviously didn't read. If your not going to offer a solution or advice, may I make a suggestion Mr. Community Professional? Prove your acreditation and answer the question instead of playing protagionist. Just so you fully understand, here it is again in a much more simplified way...Right Mylenium.
Let's pretend your doing designs for a wash rag company. These wash rags have a solid field with different color trim. All of the rags are pastel in the field, and the boarder's are all in neon colors. Got it so far. I could slow down. Now, you have a total of 10 different rags. Each one you group, open up the Re-colr art menu, sample the colors in rag number one (Let's call this Peach Neon Green). Still with me? Then select new color group. We then name it Peach Neon Green and close the menu. OK  heres where it gets tricky. Now we create another rag and we color it Lavender and Electric Blue and follow the steps above just as we did before. Suddenly the phone rings and the customer wants to change the lavender and electric blue back to the peach neon green. (Lets pretend there are 40 or 50 color combinations by now.) Simple right! Just open the Re-color art! Right Mylenium! Wait! Why is the Neon green the rag color and now the Peach is the trim color? It is as though the tool is randomly assigning the colors where ever it wants. Get it Mylenium?
Some times we start to answer the question even before we fully comprehend it. Right Mylenium! Now be a good Expert of the community and go get me a Juice Box.
Do you understand now Juice Box? Oh, sorry that's my pet name for you.

  • How can I assign colors to calendar groups?

Trying to set up calendar in Mavericks 10.9.3.  The defaults are Blue = Home, Green = Work, Purple = Holidays  and
Grey = Birthdays.. until you uncheck some and they disappear.  I like that they've added Holidays-- saves us all from looking them
all up and adding them ourselves..      But when adding my own groups,  I'd like them in different colors
to make them stand out. However, they're all showing up as grey.  I can't seem to find anywhere where I can set up my own colors.
I wish Apple weren't getting so controlling. I know many of you want everything to synch up but........not everyone uses the
calendar for work or even wants to sync it with anything else.  Oh no!!
The Calendar app used to be simple and easy and you could set it up however you wanted. Thank you! I'm capable of doing that.
Doesn't appear so now and very group the same grey color, isn't very helpful!  I'd get rid of "Home" too but it's the only thing that
isn't grey besides Holidays-- since I eliminated "Work".   I don't know what "Home" is.  Since "Holiday" is purple, I want "Medical Appts."
in Red.  I want other things in other colors.  Can this be done?   If so, how?     If not, Apple, please give it back to us!
    Thank you.

OK...since writing the original post, I discovered that if I selected "New Calendar" from FILE drop down,
I could add all the groups I wanted. However,  each one is a new calendar. Each one is assigned a color
by Apple when the item shows up on my list with the blank box for me to name it.
I'd already entered numerous events so I went back to each one by simply double clicking on it on the
monthly calendar page that I had open, and the "info" window for that event opened. Then in the upper
right corner is a colored square where you can select the "calendar" you want that item on. Using ex.
mentioned in my first post, my Medical Appts. are now Orange (yuk!).  You scroll down your list to select the
one you want and the event goes to that "calendar"-- or color.
Now... the problem I have with that is you only get a COLORED DOT next to the event. IT ISN'T HIGHLIGHTED.
The only things apparently that can be highlighted are under  the "View" drop down:
"Show All Day Events",  "Show Declined Events" and "Show travel time". None of which I'll use except maybe
all day events. If you click it to show, a check mark appears next to it and the event becomes highlighted.
If you click a checked one it un-checks it, and it disappears completely from your calendar page.
Apple, please let us HIGHLIGHT in whatever colors we want. Or... give us the option for each new calendar
whether we want to "highlight" or simply add the colored dot. That works really well, especially for those of us
who use our calendar also as a kind of  journal.
If people want to sync them with other devices, then let them set the calendar on their various devices up the same -
same group names or same calendar names assigned to the same colors and...  highlight or dot.
Then when they sync them,  should sync the same.  It's a win- win. Everyone gets what they want that way...

  • Use two temporary tables to assign "color" to data results

Hi, Everyone... Here's a rundown of what I'm trying to do, any help is obviously appreciated...
    Example Tables and Data:
I have 5 Courses, each course has 2 assignments.
    with Courses as (
select 100 courseID from dual union all
select 200 from dual union all
select 300 from dual union all
select 400 from dual union all
    select 500 from dual
    ), Assigns as (
select 'test100' name, 100 courseID from dual union all
select 'test100', 100 from dual union all
select 'test200', 200 from dual union all
select 'test200', 200 from dual union all
select 'test300', 300 from dual union all
select 'test300', 300 from dual union all
select 'test400', 400 from dual union all
select 'test400', 400 from dual union all
select 'test500', 500 from dual union all
    select 'test500', 500 from dual
    select assigns.name, assigns.courseID from courses
inner join assigns on assigns.courseID = courses.courseIDI need each assignment to get a color assigned to it according to it's courseID. So my theory is that I'd have a temporary table with a list of colors; each courseID would get assigned a color but my question is how do I assign each courseID a color without anything to join the temporary table on? Once each courseID has a color, I'd join in Assigns so that each assignment has a color associated with it according to it's courseID.

    select 'teal' from dual

Is the problem that you have more than 6 courses, but you want to color-code them with only 6 colors, and there's no telling which courses may be included in the results of a given query?
If so, you can do somehting like this:
    WITH     colors     AS
SELECT  'red' AS color_name     FROM dual UNION ALL
SELECT  'blue'                FROM dual UNION ALL
SELECT      'yellow'          FROM dual UNION ALL
SELECT     'green'               FROM dual UNION ALL
SELECT  'purple'          FROM dual UNION ALL
         SELECT     'teal'                FROM dual
    ,     colors_plus     AS
         SELECT     color_name
         ,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER (ORDER BY NULL) - 1     AS color_id
         ,     COUNT (*)     OVER ()                    AS color_cnt
         FROM     colors
    ,     course_assigns     AS
         SELECT  a.name
         ,     a.courseid
         ,     DENSE_RANK () OVER (ORDER BY  a.courseid)     AS course_num
         FROM          assigns          a
         INNER JOIN      courses      c     ON   a.courseid   = c.courseid     -- If needed
    SELECT     ca.name
    ,     ca.courseid
    ,     cp.color_name
    FROM     course_assigns  ca
    JOIN     colors_plus       cp  ON   cp.color_id  = MOD ( ca.course_num
                                                 , cp.color_cnt
    ;Typical output:
    AME      COURSEID COLOR_
    test100        100 blue
    test100        100 blue
    test200        200 yellow
    test200        200 yellow
    test300        300 green
    test300        300 green
    test400        400 purple
    test400        400 purple
    test500        500 teal
test500        500 tealIt would be better if you could create a real table like colors_plus.
If there are more than 6 distinct courses in the output, then 2 or more courses may be coded with the same color, but no color will be used N times (N>1) until all colors have been used N-1 times.
The assignment of courses to coolors is arbitrary. Depending on how fancy you want to make this, you might want to do something more complicated. For example, say you have 2 courses with 10 rows each, and 5 courses with 1 row each. The query above will have to assign the same color to 2 differenct courses, and it might assign the color 'blue' to the 2 courses with 10 rows each. The query above can be modified, if necessary, to assign the colors in order of frequency, to guarantee that the two 10-row courses get different colors, and that the colors are more evenly distibuted in general. I'll leave this as an execise. (Hint: use the frequency in the ORDER BY clause of DENSE_RANK. To get the frequency, use the analytic COUNT function in a sub-query. Why do you need a sub-query? Discuss amongst yourselves.)

  • How to make the color of one picture to be the same as another one

I want to change the orange color of this button:
to the dark blue(at the top) of this logo,
How could I do this? I am not that familiar with photoshop, please show me the detailed steps if it is possible, thanks

    Hi there
Below are instructions on how to recreate the gradient effect of the orange button using the dark blue color from the logo. It is difficult to change the color of a flattened gradient like the one in the orange button. However, recreating the button is a fairly simple process.
Step 1: Open both the button and the logo in Photoshop.
Step 2: Go to the logo image and select the Eyedropper tool from the tool bar, highlighted below. Then, click on the dark blue color in the logo.
Step 3: Go back to the button image and go to your Layers Panel. Create a new layer using the icon highlighted below.
Step 4: From the tool bar, select the Paint Bucket Tool, located directly below the eraser tool. If you don't see it, click and hold on the gradient tool and a submenu should pop out. With the Paint Bucket Tool selected, click on the canvas area to fill it with the dark blue color from the logo.
Step 5: Create a new layer from the layers panel using the same process as Step 3.
Step 6: Click and hold on the Paint Bucket Tool and select the Gradient Tool from the tool bar, as shown below.
Step 7: At the top of your window, you should see the Gradient Tool menu. Select a transparent linear gradient, using the settings highlighted below.
Step 8: Click on the dark bue color swatch in your toolbar to bring up the Color Picker dialog box. Drag the white circle in the color field to the upper left corner to select white. Click OK when you are done.
Step 9: Now you can apply the gradient by clicking and dragging up over the button. Hold the shift button on your keyboard as you drag to create a perfectly vertical line. To create the gradient below, I started from just outside the canvas area and stopped around the middle of the button. This might take a few tries - if you mess up, hit control-Z (Windows) or command-Z (Mac) on your keyboard to undo.
Step 10: Now that you have your gradient, go to the layers panel and use the Opacity slider in the upper right hand corner of the layers panel to reduce the opacity of the gradient.
Step 11: Now you can delete the orange button layer by selecting the layer and clicking the delete icon shown below.
There you go! Now you can save your button and use it as you'd like. If you ever need to change the color, just select the dark blue layer and use the paint bucket tool to fill it with whatever color you want. Below I have included a side-by-side comparison with the original orange button.
If you have any further questions or need clarification, just ask!
    Good luck!

  • How to print red color in plain paper?

When printed on glossy papers, red color (in photo or text) looks great.
When I print on non-photo, plain papers, red color came out brownish.
I tried on premium ink jet papers, it does not print red but in brown color.
How can I print red color in plain paper?

When dealing with printing ink, R=100m+100y+0c+0k. What drives the color toward rust, maroon, and brown is the addition of c to the mix. That may be the result of the diffuse reflection of the uncoated paper surface, its absorb rate, the ink chemistry and – the light source. Since the easiest variable to test is the light source, look at that color using a source weak in blue emission, incandescent light, and watch the red shift. Remember also that the reflected color will never be as bright as paper it is printed on. Each ink film is a filter subtracting light from the paper reflection.
Shown above (with a mode change to RGB for the purpose of this display) is its version of 100 each of m+ y  and a patch with the unwanted c

  • How to change the color of SAP screen?

    Hi Frens,
I know it has nothing to do with SD Community, but still I am asking. Can anyone tell me "How to change the color of SAP screen?" It is needed especially when you are working on System Landscape including PRD, Qua & Dev. There are chances that you end up making a test case in PRD instead of Dev or Qua. To avoid that, different color of SAP screen may be very useful and safe.

  • Color values shift from Illustrator to Photoshop

    Hi there:
Hopefully someone has an answer for me (my apologies if this has been addressed before)?
When  I open up a EPS file in Illustrator CS5, the blacks read !00% for RGB. When  exported as a JPG, Photoshop CS5 reads it as 0-0-0. So far so good. But  when copy and paste the same EPS into a Photoshop files, as a smart  object, the values change to 4-7-7. I've tried that with other colors,  and it seems the color values shift when using as a smart object. Any  ideas on why and how to remedy this?
I will also post in the Photoshop forum as well...
    Thanks,
    Lisa

So I also had someone else reply in the Photoshop forum about this. Apparently, I need to be using the Adobe RGB (1998) color space on both applications in order for the numbers to reflect the correct color values.
Not sure why it wouldn't do so in other color spaces (I had mine initially set to sRGB on both apps), and I'll need to see if this runs into any issues on our end.
If you have any more insight, I would love to hear it. But thanks for your help!

  • How to change the color of an image....

I have a logo that I use that has a
white background with black lettering. I would like to use that logo sometimes with white lettering. How can I change that using PSE 7?
I am creating postcards with a picture on the left and a color block on the right that compliments that picture on the left. I would also like to implement a gradient of some sort from the picture to the color block. Any tips on how to do that as well? I would like it to go from left to right....

We'll use the image you posted.
    1. Use the black and white icon in your layers palette to make a pink solid color fill adjustment layer.
Since the mask is white the entire image will be covered by the pink color.
    2. Now, we are going to hide the entire effect (pink solid color fill adjustment layer) by filling it with black. With the solid color fill layer highlighted in the layers palette, you can use the paint bucket or just invert the white mask by pressing Ctrl + I.
Here we see that the entire pink solid color fill layer is hidden. We are now looking at your background layer.
We are going to use a different gradient this time and make it easier to understand. I think I used linear last time. I think it will be easier to understand going this route for this particular situation.
    3. Set your foreground color chip to white then select the gradient tool. With the gradient tool selected, open the gradient editor and select the white to transparent preset. (To open gradient editor, double click the gradient window in your options bar.
Above is what you need to look for in the options bar to double click to gain access to the gradient editor.
The second preset should be foreground to transparent. If white to transparent isn't available, you need to change your tool box's foreground color to white as the gradient's foreground color will be whatever is selected as the foreground color in the tool box.
    4. Here is a screen shot of my gradient tool settings that I used.
I pulled from right to left because I do not have reverse checked. If I had reverse checked, I would have pulled left to right. Notice the gradient style I have selected and that the tool is in normal blend mode and that transparency has been enabled.
I should also mention that I pulled from pretty close to where the two images join and only pulled maybe a centimeter worth of drag.
Yellow line shows start and stop point of tool drag. *You can drag more than once if the gradient is too thin at the join.
The reason you want to hold in the shift key as you drag the gradient is because this gives you an even pull...makes a straight line. Without using the shift key you can get a wonky uneven join.

  • How to change highlight color in Preview quickly?

I do a lot of reading and annotating of PDFs using Preview. While I love just about everything about this program, my only complaint (if it could be called that) is that I can't figure out a quick way to cycle through the highlight colors without using the palette drop-down. Has anyone figured out a clever way to hotkey the colors for the highlighting annotation tool?

    yorkait wrote:
You simply create new keyboard shortcuts for the Preview application (in system preferences). And set the shortcuts to "Red", "Yellow", and so on. This works because the contextual menu with the color is labelled this way. I binded all colors on Shift + Command + *letters from the first left hand side rows of keys*. Very handy.
(Now if someone figured out how to customize the default colors I would be eternally grateful.)
Great thanks, I didn't realize you could do that for those kind of menus as well until about a month ago when David Sparks showed doing that for Mail accounts.  I have been using the assignable key commands since they added that in Tiger.   I ended up doing something so much more complicated using Keymon and Size up to move the mouse and position the document on screen.
Thanks again I will add this and use this all the time!

  • Quicktime X and After Effects CS4 - Unwanted Color / Gamma shift

    Hello,
Upon the import of ANY video footage file into After Effects CS4, there is an immediate color (I am guessing a gamma shift) difference between how the video appears in Quicktime (both X and the older player) and how it appear in the After Effects composition window.
Footage appears to be darker in AE and lighter in quicktime, both before and after export. The gamma/color then appears roughly the same when being compressed via h.264 and uploaded to the web (the same in Safari, much darker via Firefox).
My main concern is simply getting AE's color to match Quicktime's so that I can have as close of a match between the color I think I have created in AE, and the actual color that appears in my final output to the web.
I have tried using all of the fixes to be found relating to gamma shifts via .h264, prores, etc. but nobody seems to have this problem with every codec, even animation. I have tried assigning color profiles in AE, matching quicktime legacy formats, etc. All of the options available in AE to no avail.
My monitor is calibrated fine, I am using Perian, All of the latest software updates. Any advice much appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the link. While helpful I am still having problems!
I tried using the method described with Automator to assign a color profile to a test Animation file, created from scratch in AE and rendered out as an Animation with no color management (previously it made no difference to the quicktime gamma shift as to if I had assigned a working color space or not within AE).
Automator only gives three color profile options, HD, SD, or PAL. I tried using HD as this is the size of video I normally work in (although I am also working in PAL), and ran Automator. I also tried using PAL and got identical results. It took about 30 seconds to finish and the result indeed looked much better in QT, and opened up in AE looking identical to a copy of the same .mov file with no color correction.
However, there is *still some change in the image quality as it appears in QT from how it (and the original) appears in AE*.
Original created / displayed in AE: What I am trying to maintain
Rendered out, Automator color profile HD assigned, and opened in QT: Gamma looks good but colors slightly more saturated than original in AE.
Rendered out with no color profile: Original problem with large gamma shift making everything bleached/washed out.
I have a screen shot I can show you to illustrate this here:
    http://www.yousendit.com/download/THE0ek9xa0RxRTNIRGc9PQ
While the difference is subtle you can look at the RGB numbers and see the middle example is indeed more saturated.
Perhaps I need to use another color profile when working with the animation codec for animations created from scratch in AE to avoid this saturation shift, other than HD or PAL? Would you know of how to do this?
Also, would you know of how to change this, and perhaps a way of changing qucktime's interpretation rules for all animation files per se, so that I do not need to go through every .mov with the animation codec and assign profiles to them?
Many thanks for your time and sorry for being so long winded!

Okay, I know this doesn't answer your question, but don't get me wrong. A logo is meant to be the way it was designed - upright, no flipping/ swiveling animation. Why exactly do you want to let your logo turn around?
If its to grab attention, why dont you consider animating the area on which your logo sits (header)? Or maybe add nice transitive slideshows on your main content area to add more interactivity?

    Thanks,

Color spaces are a little complicated.
Best practice is to pick one and use it for every application.
Adobe (1998) has been regarded as a great standard for years.
If you are using s-RGB you and going into CMYK, you will probably always get color shift.
Bruce Fraser used to refer to s-RGB as "Satan RGB."
It has a very small color gamut and almost everyone has it by default because it is the Windows standard and unless the system was calibrated and planned, s-RGB will be everywhere (as intended).
Unfortunate that printing uses CMYK and the web uses the RGB.
Newer printing technology can use RGB but the s-RGB will limit your color spectrum.
Also you can set the conversion settings to preserve either the numerical values or perceptual intent...or turn them off in your preference panel.
If your final work product is in RGB (anything viewed on a monitor), I suggest that you work in RGB and not CMYK and use the Adobe 1998 standard on every machine and every program. (You can set your info palette to see both sets of numbers)
Everyone has their own opinion, the key is to be consistent.
And dont let all the tech-speak freak you... there is lots of information out there but you are in charge how you use it.
