Re: Create a PDF presentation slideshow output file in CS5

Upgraded from CS2 to CS5. In CS2, this was an Automate option - presentation I think. All you had to do was drag the PDF photos together, select the presentation options and bingo. Then I could e-mail the presentation file. Can't find anything like this in CS5.

Zeno - Thanks for the help. Am almost there. Am able to create a contact sheet slideshow presentation but don't see an option for a slideshow presentation where each photo shows individually on a slide. The contact sheet has multiple pictures per slide.

Agreed. Adobe makes no claims that their Reader will work properly with forms made from third party software.

  • Any Tutorial / Sample to create Single PDF from multiple source files using PDF assembler in a watched folder process.

Any Tutorial / Sample to create Single PDF from multiple source files using PDF assembler in a watched folder process. I have a client application which will prepare number of source files and some meta data information (in .XML) which will be used in header/footer. Is it possible to put a run time generated DDX file in the watch folder and use it in Process. If possible how can I pass the file names in the DDX. Any sample Process will be very helpful.

If possible, make use of Assembler API in your client application instead of doing this using watched folder. Here are the Assembler samples :  LiveCycle ES2.5 * Programming with LiveCycle ES2.5
Watched folder can accept zip files (sample : Configuring a watched folder to handle multiple input files and write results to a single folder | Adobe LiveCycle Blog ). You can also use execute script to create the DDX at runtime : LiveCycle ES2 * Application Development Using LiveCycle Workbench ES2

    Hi Marion,
PDF pack is meant to convert files to pdf format, Here's the feature list : Convert Word to PDF, Convert PDF to Word & Merge PDFs | Adobe PDF Pack
In order to Create, Convert, edit pdf files, one needs to purchase Acrobat Software, Here's a feature list of Acrobat Pro : Features, PDF documents | Acrobat XI Pro
However, you can download a free 30 day trial of Acrobat software using the following link : https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html

    Hi David Turner,
What is the exact error message which you are facing while converting the file from .tiff  format to PDF format.
As per my knowledge, PDF Pack supports conversion from .tiff format to PDF Format -Different File formats that Adobe PDF Pack supports.

  • How do I create a PDF X/1-a file?

I use an ibook G4 with OS 10.4.11. On the print window, I can create a PDF file, or a PDF/X file. I am attempting to create a high res PDF for printing with Amazon's guidelines, which are specifically PDF/X-1a files. On my mac, however, there is no menu for the variations of the PDF/X file. Most info on the subject states that PDF/X only describes the file and there are only variations i.e. PDF/X-1-a, PDF/X-3, PDF/X-2 etc. How do I determine what kind of file I have and how can I assure the file is PDF/X-1a? I would output the file from a QuarkXpress program or word processor program. Thanks!

Get HexEdit and open that file for a look at the heaer bytes...
    http://hexedit.sourceforge.net/
    >All versions of PDF/X contain file identifications which indicate the version of PDF/X to which they conform. This appears in a document info dictionary, in document metadata, or both, according to the standard used. As of 2010, the complete list of file identifications are the following strings: PDF/X-1:2001, PDF/X-1a:2001, PDF/X-1a:2003, PDF/X-3:2002, PDF/X-3:2003, PDF/X-4, PDF/X-4p, PDF/X-5g, PDF/X-5pg. Observe that this means that the various revisions of PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-3 are distinct types, while the revisions to PDF/X-4 and PDF/X-5 variations are not.

    >To create a PDF-X file, choose Save as PDF-X. PDF-X is a subset of PDF that's used in the printing industry and contains the minimum information needed to print the document.

My hope/guess is that PDF-1.4 satisfies the earlier PDF/X-1a requirements.

  • What would cause logo colors to change when creating a PDF from an InDesign file?

    Hi,
My graphic designer has a publication laid out in InDesign. When he creates a PDF file of the book to send to the printer, the colors of our logo on the cover change. Dramatically. The really weird thing is that everything still looks normal on his computer, which is off-site. But when he sends the file to me or the printer, it has the wrong colors. We're all at a loss as to why this is happening. Any ideas?
Also, I'm just an editor and my experience with InDesign is pretty much limited to making text changes so I'm not well-versed in the lingo. If you could dumb down any advice you may have, it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Shawna

Shawna, there really isn't realistic hope that anyone could troubleshoot the problem from here with the information you've given. If I was answering your graphic designer, I'd be interrogating him/her about the methods employed all along the way from the logo as a stand-alone file to it's placement in InDesign to the InDesign transparency blend space, possible effects or blend modes applied, and the wide range of possibilities surrounding the methods and settings used in the export/conversion to PDF.

  • When I create a .pdf from an Office file, I have to close the original file before using.  Help?

When I create a .pdf file from an Office 2010 file (.docx or .xlsx), I cannot move, rename or alter the .pdf file until I first close the original Office file.  If I try, I get a message that the file is in use.  Is this due to some sort of cache setting?  Any suggestions?

I believe we are using Adobe drivers within Office to generate the PDF through the print function.  All of the settings appear to be Adobe.  If I launch Distiller separately and navigate to the setting I get the exact same settings form I get when I go through the print properties settings.

  • Having issues Creating a PDF from an Excel file

When creating PDFs from an Excel file using the Adobe PDF printer, I sometimes run into an issue where the PDF ends up shrinking what's on the document and distorting the image. I have examined all Print Settings and can't find a difference between any of the margin settings, paper size, etc. Once I go to print to Adobe PDF, it just changes the way the whole document looks and is spaced.
To work around the issue, I use Microsoft's built in Save As PDF feature, but that's only works some of the time. I would like to use the Acrobat software so that I can also edit the document immediately without having to re-open it.

Be sure Adobe PDF is selected as the printer in the print menu. Then do a print preview. It it looks wrong then, it is likely an Excel format issue.

  • Adobe PDF printer - saves output file as filetype+filename need it to save only as filename

I am using windows xp pro, when i create the pdf file with adobe PDF printer it creates the file name "Ami Pro - filename.pdf"  I really need it to create the file name as "filename.pdf".  Can you please help me - thank you

Thank you Bernd - Explorer will let us change the file name one at a time, however I am creating numerous pdfs at a time, and its a pain to correct them one at a time, or to create a bat file to do this.  Does anyone know if the Adobe PDF printer has a feature that will eliminate the file type? thanks

  • 'Create Settlement Batches' Request and Output file name

    Hello,
Is there a table/view which keeps 'Create Settlement Batches' request id and name of the output file of that request ?
Output file is created in 4456_1.out format. I can see this file name in IBY.IBY_BATCHES_ALL table BATCHID column and
IBY.IBY_TRXN_SUMMARIES_ALL table BATCHID column. Non of the tables do not contain the concurrent request id.
How can we find out from tables/views the name of the output file, if you know the request id ?
    Thank You,
    sruwan

    Hi Hussein,
I already looked at FND_CONCURRENT_REQUESTS. It doesn't contain the output batch file name. It has a column called 'OUTFILE_NAME' and it points to
a file called concurrent_request_id.out file ( Eg: 123456789.out ). This file is blank when you run 'Create Settlement Batches' request.
'Create Settlement Batches' request also crates an output batch file in the format 1234_1.out. Problem is finding a pace linking that file name to concurrent request id.
    Thanks for your reply,
    sruwan

  • Can no longer create a PDF from a Word file!

Any idea what this is about?  My PDF/Adobe Printer is also suddenly gone.  I don't use it that much but now I can't use it at all!  I assume this is a forum for Acrobat X.  I thought I'd try reinstalling but I can't figure out how.  I know that sounds stupid--and it is.  But I have spent 45 minutes poking around the Adobe website trying to figure out where I can find the download--I upgraded from an earlier version online..  I have only been using X for a year or so.  (This product is hard to love and not cheap either)

Thanks!  Repair failed.  I had to call their tech support and eventually was told to reinstall.  WIth the tech the entire process took onlky about an hour and a half (yes, that long!).  Since I had upgraded to Acrobat X Pro a year ago I fortunately kept a record of the saerial number for the prior version.  Near the end the tech hung up on me when I complained about always having to keep records of prior versions.
I had the revolutionary--and obviously unacceptable--idea that once you buy the upgrade THAT ought to be the end of things.  Why at each reinstall the darned software would search for a prior version--which wouldn't be there anyway, particularly since the older version was on my old computer which I sent to recycling last summer, is a mystery.  It strikes me as a form of harassment since I didn't spring for the full price in lieu of the upgrade.  User-friendly is not a term I would use to describe my years of experience with Adobe.  Even the website is frustrating.  In the process of this reinstall I was promised some sort of gift from Adobe for filling out some profile information.  I'm not holding my breath waiting to find out what my prize will be and whetgher it was worth another few frustrating minutes!  And I have not mentioned the near-inscrutability of the program itself.  What, for example, is "preflight" supposed to mean when it has no connection to air travel?  And "workflow?"  Whazzat?  Well as long as I can create PDF files, add or delete pages, add footers/headers, add some typed text and struggle with redacting that's all I have time to manage.  Don't get me started.  Even my screen name here--it was supposed to have been updated, too--was what I entered a few years ago in a fit of rage in trying to register for this forum (runuz: "Are you nuts?")

  • How to create multiple pages in the output file?

hi, we have an application (C++) that generates PDF output. I've been asked to figure out how to create multiple copies of each page (uncollated). i.e. the output would be 4 copies of p 1 followed by 4 copies of p 2, etc. I'd like to do this without actually replicating each page if possible ... any ideas?

Why not just put four copies of the same CosObj reference into the Pages array/tree?

  • Problem creating  ONE PDF from a large file

Every few months we need to create a three or four foot square document that our printer ouputs for us and laminates. But each time I end up jumping through hoops to get them the PDF file from the Visio source file. Finally get it to work in the end but with each new job I start all over again. Very frustrating...
The document size in Visio is set to 36x36 inches.
When printing, In the Adobe PDF Settings tab I have:
Default Settings I have created and saved a setting that has the page size set to 36x36.
Under Adobe PDF Page Size I have that set to 36 by 36
But after chewing on the file for a LONG time, I end up with a useless, 20 page file. What am I missing??
    Using:
    Visio 2010
    Acrobat X Pro 10.1.3
    Win 7/64

    Finally figured it out...
Even though the page size in Visio and all Acrobat settings was set to 36x36 inches, there's yet another option in Visio for Print Setup which was left set to standard letter size. As a result, that overode all the other settings and Acrobat was misinformed as to what size paper was being used for ouput. Once i changed that size as well to 36x36, the PDF came out as I wanted on one page.
