RE: creating email links on Acrobat...

I know how to create a link in a PDF that will open up the viewer's email program w/ my address in teh send to bar...but nobody really uses email PROGRAMS anymore...it's all gmail, or yahoo, for example. Does anybody know a way to link to those kinds of email? Or maybe a better solution would be to link to something like Evite? Anybody have a good solution?

Do you mean nobody uses outlook, thunderbird, ... ?

    I don't produce websites but I make edits as needed if not too complex. I know this is probably beyond simple but I'm not getting it. I'm trying to create an email link on client contact page. I type in [email protected] Preview in browser. Fine. I highlight the email address. Go to create email button link. Preview in browser. The link is now there but the text is invisible. I'm using DW in CS5. Delete the line. Put the cursor where I want it. I select create email link and type in link name and the email address which are both the same ([email protected]). Not working.
    Update: Googled how to make email link in DW and followed the instructions. Everytime I make a link the text becomes invisible but the link work.

    A wild guess:  Your link color is white on a white background.  Or your link color is black on a black background.   Link colors are usually contained in the sitewide CSS.  Without a URL to your problem page, it's impossible to comment further.

  • Creating multiple links in Acrobat

    Is it possible to create a link in Acrobat to more than one file i.e. when the cursor hovers over the link, a list of 2 or more filenames can appear, each one clickable? I am using version 8.1.1 Professional in Windows on a PC.

    You could get hold of John Deubert's book 'Extending Acrobat Forms with javascript' ISBN 0-321-17238-8.
    Although written for v5, most of it is still relevant, and certainly the chapter and examples that deal with this topic.
    If you search the web for 'Acumen Journal' you'll also find his website.

    The way to do it is when you create the new version of the PDF, go to the
    old version and use the Replace Pages function to replace the old pages
    with the new ones. That would preserve any links, form fields or comments

  • Creating Hyper-Links in Acrobat Pro 8

    Good Day;
    I am somewhat new at this so please forgive me if this question has been asked before.
    I am running Acrobat 8 pro and I am designing some forms. One of the things I want to do is imbed a hyper-link in some of the text. This hyper link will take the user to the documentation on a webpage.
    I have created a form using LiveCycle Designer 8 (part of Adobe Acrobat 8 pro not LiveCycle ES). Within this application there does not appear to be a way to create the hyper-links. I then opened the form in Acrobat 8 pro and the link tool is not available.
    Is there a way to create a hyper-link in the form?

    If you created the form using Designer, you must make any edits in Designer and not Acrobat.

  • Can we create an Eloqua cookie for a user if we just know his email address and they have not clicked an email link or filled out an Eloqua form?

    Scenario:
    When a visitor comes to our website and creates a login, we are pushing their profile information to Eloqua via the Eloqua web services api. However, because they have not filled out an Eloqua form or clicked through an email, their page visit activity is not synced with their profile information in Eloqua because they don't have an Eloqua cookie yet (for first time visitors only).
    I know you can integrate an external form with an Eloqua form (which will then create the Eloqua cookie automatically) but because this is a login form for our website, we don't want to send secure information (such as passwords) over to Eloqua.
    Is there a way to create the Eloqua cookie using the web services api and/or javascript or is this a missing feature?

    I think what you're asking is how can you link a visitor profile to an Eloqua contact.  An Eloqua cookie is placed on a user's computer by the javascript tracking scripts - this is just a unique id that is used when saving the visitor information to a table in the Eloqua database.  It will be there regardless of whether the user comes from an email or submits a form.  What does happen when a user visits your website from an Eloqua email or submits a form is the visitor profile that has been keeping track of website activity in Eloqua gets linked to an Eloqua contact by email address.
    To make this link happen in your scenario, you can instead of pushing the information through the web services to Eloqua directly as a create contact call, create a form submission through the web services where you can pass through the elqCustomerGUID (the cookie value) along with at least an email address to make the link happen.
    You will need to:
    1. use javascript on your website to pull the elqCustomerGUID from eloqua.  There's code for this in the integration details for individual forms in Eloqua.  It has to be pulled from Eloqua servers because the cookie is a third party cookie.
    2. pass this cookie value to your server so you have it when you make the web services calls to Eloqua to push the contact information over and now make a form submission record (entities through the api Base->Form->*this will be a form submission record*) to create the link in Eloqua.

    What you're calling "Adobe Forms" is really Adobe FormsCentral. The FormsCentral service is indeed going away soon, but you can always create PDF forms (AcroForms) with Acrobat. Acrobat also comes with a desktop version of the FormsCentral desiger, which can be used to create simple PDF forms that can be used apart from the FormsCentral service. So you'll no longer be able to create and host web forms with the FormsCentral service or use PDF forms with the FormsCentral service. You will be able to create standalone PDF forms with Acrobat and simple PDF forms with the FormsCentral desktop app.

    I apologize if this is too basic of a question but I can't find any results after looking for several hours.
    I would like to generate a URL in an email that points to the portal and a specific portlet in the portal. The portlet has limited access rights so the URL should cause the portal to go through the login page and then redirect to the portlet. Can anyone point me to the documentation that describes this or give me an example?

    Using the PTARGS might also solve another difficulty I've encountered passing (dynamic) querystring parms to portlets through the gateway. Your example seems to work great for portlets, but now trying to access a Community page containing a portlet to retain branding elements.
    For portal pages, should the ObjectID be the pageID (i.e PageID=0 for the default page) or is the ObjectID for a community page some other value (where in PlumDB is this stored) ? I changed the ClassIDView to 514 which should indicate a Community Page but it's still not loading my page. Adding to my confusion, the PTCOMMPAGES table stores the PageID as a negative value.
    Here's my example:

  • How to create a keyboard shortcut in firefox for email link

    I would like to create a keyboard shortcut for firefox for the EMail Link menu item. I specified shift-Command-S as the keyboard shortcut. When I hit the key sequence the File on the menubar flashes but the Email Link window never opens. Does anyone have a clue as to what I need to do to get this to work or is there a reason it doesn't work. I do use Outlook for my mail client. That shouldn't be a problem because when I manually select EMail Link from the File menu Outlook is properly used.

    Alternatively, just save the script

    as an app, put it on the Dock, and click it to activate it. However, seems simpler just to put the FF icon on the Dock and a single click launches it. Why would you want a service or AS to do the same thing?

    I have been reading the help, but it just wonn't work when I try.
    I have tried as followed (I am working with a danish version, and hope to matched the same word as in the english version of Acrobat Xpro):
    1. From the toolbox i choose content and then 'hyperlink'
    2. I mark the text from which i wish to make a link
    3. Acrobat respond with an popup picture 'create a link'
    4. From the popup I mark 'Open a side' and push 'next'
    5. Acrobat respond with a new popup picture 'create / go to a side'
    6. I go to the navigator and open the list with attached file's that I have embedded in my acrobat file.
    7. I mark the to which i wish to make a link to
    8. In the popup 'create / go to a side' that stilll is open, i push 'Mark hyperlink'
    Then I hoped that I have created a link from the acrobat text to the attached file. In stead Acrobat has made a link to the same sidenumber that respond to the text from which i wish to make a link . F.ex. the linktext is on side 10 - then the link goes to side 10.
    How do i do it right?
    Please help.

    This corresponds to the text I have tried myself, but apparently I do something wrong
    1.      Open a PDF that contains a PDF file attachment – done
    2.      Go to where you want to create a link. If that location is in the file attachment, click the Attachments button in the navigation pane, select the file attachment, and click open.
    Here I go to side number 10 from which I wish to make a link from (I am not open the attachment file at this moment, as the location not is inside the file attachment).
    (I earlier also tried to  mark the attachment file and click open, and It result that the attached file just opened normally without creating a link to the file).
    3.      Choose Tools > Content > link, and select the area for the link
    Here  I mark the text on side 10 from which I wish to make a link to a attached file
    4.      In the Create Link dialog box, set the link appearance, select Go To A Page View, and then click Next
    Here I have selected ‘Go to a page view’ as told and I click Next
    5.      Set the page number and view magnification you want, either in the parent PDF document or in the file attachment, and then click set link.
    Here I go to the navigation pane and mark the attached file from the file list (the files in the list hasn’t any side number in the list) and then I click Set Link.
    Then I hoped that I have created a link from the acrobat text to the attached file. In stead Acrobat has made a link to the same sidenumber that respond to the text from which i wish to make a link . F.ex. the linktext is on side 10 - then the link goes to side 10.

    Hi,
    we are on CRM 7.0 and interaction center agents need to open and read inbound emails in the agent inbox and in some cases manually create Service Requests to which the email should be linked.
    Is there any standard functionality to manually create a new Service Request with the inbound email linked to it or do we have to implement it with custom coding? (we have already used ERMS to automatically create Service Requests linked to emails, but in some scenarios agents need to create manually service requests linked to mails after reading the email in the inbox)

    Thank you for answering. I already tried: I select the line with the email in the Inbox, I press Interact (the account is automatically recognized and I am asked to confirm it), I confirm the account and then I navigate to "Service Request" workcenter: a new Service Request is displayed, with the employee responsible and the customer automatically filled. However, I can see no data regarding any attached email in any of the Service Request tabs (even if I save or select "End").
    After your answer, I tried the same procedure with the "Service Ticket" and noticed that the email is correctly displayed as an Interaction Record under the Business Content tab for the Service Ticket: since you confirmed that this should work also for Service Request, I guess there's something wrong in my customizing settings and now I will search for errors.
