Re-directing to scanned image

I need to re-direct a visitor from my web page advertisement
(restraurant) to a file that displays the restraurant's entire menu
that has been scanned and saved. Can someone help me with this
please????

<a href="mymenu.xxx">See my menu</a>
where xxx is the filetype of however you choose to display
it.
My suggestion would be PDF. Most computers have it; it's easy
to print;
it works cross-platform; it tends to be smaller if you do it
right; it
can be indexed by search engines.
However, recreating the menu in an HTML page offers all of
those
advantages, and it's easier to maintain.

  • Disk Utility: What does "scan image for restore" do?

Before restoring a disk image, I know that I need to use Disk Utility's "Scan Image for Restore…" feature.
Exactly what does this feature do?

    I asked because I didn't know.
I was helping someone upgrade his PowerMac G5 from the original 80GB hard drive to a 1TB drive.
Since the G5 can accommodate two internal drives, I could have simply added the new drive and used Disk Utility's "restore" feature to migrate his data directly from the old drive to the new drive.
But it was more convenient for me to work at home so I removed the old drive, and brought it home along with the new drive.
I couldn't connect both drives to my MacBook Pro, since I only have one SATA drive dock. So I did it like this:
    1. Connected the old drive to my SATA dock.
    2. Create a disk image from his old drive, saving it to an external USB drive.
    3. Disconnected the old drive from the SATA dock and connected the new one.
    4. Restore the disk image to the new drive
Of course, when I tried step 4, I got an error message about needing to do a scan first. That's what led me to this question.
I have a follow-up question: When I created the image, I didn't bother changing the default image format, which is "compressed." If I had given the matter a little thought, I could have created a read-only image, since I would never need to change the image.
If I had used read-only, would Disk Utility have created the checksums on-the-fly when it created the disk image?

  • Scan images into Forms app / Twain scanner

Can you provide your thoughts on how to have a Form ***QUICKLY*** scan and crop passport photo size images from a scanner
Speed of data entry is essential so I would like to minimize the total time and keep the mouse and key click count down.
I would like to do as much as possible within the form window. Scanning directly into an image on the form would be nice as the current app does this via a Twain scan
The scanned image will be stored in a file (either on the Forms application server or in the client MS-Windows file system ). The file name will be stored in the database and displayed in the form. Im not sure if the image needs to be displayed in the form window or not.
The scanned images are passport sized photos of face.
The user needs to make minimum changes to the photo - usually only cropping.
Are there any Java beans that will help do this ? Should I use OLE via WEB_UTIL ? Any other ideas ?
    Thanks
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Environment : Forms 10g (9.0.4.0.19), Database 10gr2, Window client, Linux / Unix application server, scanners are Twain compatible or can scan to file.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks - that is the info I was hoping for.
There are Forms java bean solutions from two different people on that page. Ill try and get in touch with them and see if I can sponge the code off them.
In the meantime, please post more suggestions if you have them

  • Having problems with my epson perfection V600 scanned images printing in blue hue.  Anyone have a solution?

Have new Macbook Pro, just bought the mentioned epson scanner.  Running Mac OS X 10.7.2.  Have HP photo smart 8250.  Scanned images of white, lined index cards print out in blue hue.  Trying to figure out what my problem is.  Running scanner with Image Capture.  Any pointers in right direction welcome.

You really need to check with Epson with regards to that printer.  This forum is for the MacBook Pro hardware.

  • 8600 scanner won't produce scan image after overview performed

Using 8600 All-inOne with Mac OS 10.9.4:  Problem with scanner--  After scanning overview performed; when I try to scan, I get the message "Done scanning selected areas" and no scanned image has been saved to Documents.  Thanks for help!

Hi @KateSR , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help!
Do these issues occur when making a copy from the scanner glass or feeder, or just when scanning?
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Please let me know what you find.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • New tip trick for capturing scanned images to the PB from your wireless network printer

I've read a couple of threads here and on crackberry about not being able to print directly to a printer on the local network (although there is a way to print via the cloud from gmail apparently). Anyway it occurred to me that I can browse to my printer's IP address and in addition to allowing me to configure it, it also lets me scan documents to jpg, pdf, and tiff formats and then renders the scanned image through the browser. I tried this from the Playbook browser and it worked perfectly. i was able to view and save the scanned document directly to my Playbook file system. Even more conveniently I could just take a screenshot of the browser window. Now if only the printer would let me print the scan or better yet browse to and upload a local file for print my printing problems would be solved. I am using an older HP 2500 psc. Does anyone know of a newer model wireless/network printer that allows printing via the browser interface?

Just to clarify. When your playbook and the wireless printer are on the same network, you can browse to the IP address of the wireless printer from your playbook just as you could from your PC or laptop. The browser will display the printer's web features which in my case includes the ability to scan the document that is laying on the scanner bed of the printer. When I click the scan button, the image of the scanned document renders on my playbook and I am able to save the rendered TIFF, JPG, PDF to the playbook locally or I can even just take a screenshot (press the playbook's volume up and down buttons simultaneously) and then the image of the document from the browser window automatically saves to the camera folder under pictures.
What I would like is to find a wireless printer that from the web page that is displayed when I browse to the printers local IP address be able to browse to a file on my playbook and upload it to the printer (kind of like uploading or attaching a document to a gmail email message or uploading a local picture to Facebook etc...) and then instruct the printer to print the document. Obviously this would only work when I was on the same local wireless network as the printer but it would essentially solve the "how to print directly to a wireless printer from the playbook?" question.

  • Retrieving values from scanned images

  • Print the scanned image LaserJet Pro M1536dnf

After firmware upgrade fo version 20111215 to  20140123
Having problems with print scanned image.
The scanned image is printed blurry and small pixels.
How to bring back the old version of the firmware?

    Hi Senja,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing an issue with scanned images printing blurry and small pixels since updating the printer's firmware. I will be happy to help you.
Unfortunately you can't roll back the firmware on the printer.
I would do a power reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
With the printer still turned on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.
Then disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable back to the wall outlet first, then the back of the printer and power it on again.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
I have provided a document for Troubleshooting Scan Quality Problems.

  • How can I divide my Aperture Library between digital and scanned images?

I am scanning 20,000 35mm slides to my Aperture Library.  I have started importing them as TIFF files because the resolution of the JPEG files is not as good.  Because of the number and size of the images, I would like to "split" my Aperture Library so that my current digital images are on the iMac HD and the scanned images are on a dedicated external HD.  Is it possible to do this?  If so, how do I set it up?  Will the scanned images be managed or referenced images?

"Scan" means "digitize".  Once your media is scanned, it is digital.  Your question then becomes "How can I group my scans?" and "Can I store the Originals of the Images based on the scans externally?".
There are many ways to group Images.  All of them are based on either giving the Images you want to group some unique marker, or using a marker that is already unique to them as a group.  How you do this is up to you.  Options include but are not limited to: put them in Projects and put those Projects in a Folder called "Scans", keyword them on import as "ScannedFrom35mmSlides", name them when scanned with a prefix such as "Scand35mm_", etc.
Aperture allows you to store the Original of each Image wherever you want.  Storage devices mounted directly to your computer are recommended.  Aperture provides tools to move each Image's Original inside your Library package (the Library package shows in Finder as a single file with the file extension ".aplibrary"), to relocate it outside your Library package at any location you specify, or to relocate files which are currently outside your Library package wherever you want.
Originals inside your Library are called "managed".  Originals outside your Library are called "referenced".  This is a per-Image setting, though moving these files is almost always done in batch, and most people keep their Library with every Image's Original either managed or referenced.
Having a "mixed Library", with some Image's Originals managed and others referenced, presents no problems.
The commands for relocated the Originals of the currently selected Images are on the "File" menu.  Directions on using these commands are in the User Manual here.
Here is a concise guide to the parts of Aperture.  Should any of the above be confounding, it may help clear things up.
I suggest determining the naming conventions, storage, and keywording that you are going to use in Aperture before you proceed.  Rigorously building well-designed storage and retrieval structures from the start will make your image database easier to use, and more useful, than making changes ad hoc along the way.
Fwiw, JPG and TIFF are not differentiated by resolution (which is the pixel dimensions).  TIFF is recommended because by default it is not compressed (no data is lost), and it can use 16-bits of information per pixel (JPG is limited to 8 bpp).  16-bit TIFF is an excellent -- and standard -- file format for high-quality scans.
Are you really still on 10.6.1?

  • Import scanned image

    Hi,
I'm new in the iWork world, and there is a feature that was pretty useful for me when I used Word : Inserting an image directly from scanner into the document.
-> I cannot find any mean to do that in Pages08 : did I miss something or is that just impossible ?
If impossible that would be a huge leak, and I'd come back sadly with Word... Making at least 6 manipulations instead of 1, to add a scanned image in my documents is far too odd. Is there any plugin that would do that ?
    Thank you for your attention.
    JB

    Hi !
Wow Yvan, merci beaucoup That's a pretty nice workaround, gonna try it right now !!
Otherwise I'm surprised by the first answer, what you say is everything but Mac !
Scanning an image on the hd is obsiously odd when you just need to do a simple PDF with no backup needs. I mean... All the Apple software has this incredibly intuitive and simple integration. Now, when I'm writing a document in Pages... if I have to :
1 - Focus on the Finder.
    2 - Open a Finder Window.
3 - Go to the Applications.
4 - Scroll to the Scanner application.
    5 - Lauch it.
    6 - Scan the document.
    7 - Save it as a file.
    8 - Back into Pages.
9 - Import the image file.
10 - Go back and delete the scanned file.
Holly smoke, that *IS* odd ! Such a maze to do a simple trick is just good for Windows users, not for Mac users... please agree with that
Anyway, thank you very much for the script Yvan !

  • Can't Directly Rate my Images using Stars in Adobe Bridge CS3

    Hi
I can rate my images in Adobe Bridge CS3 by using the drop down 'Label' menu. However, I cannot rate my image by stars directly under my image thumbnails as my book suggests I can. The book states: "You can also assign stars directly under the thumbnail by clicking on the dots".
Is there anyway I can do this? Do I have to change some preferences?
Many thanks in advance for anticipated help.

try resetting your preferences by holding Ctrl right after you launch Bridge(you have to be fast, you'll get a dialog box if you succeeded)
Though you'd need to do this only if you are doing it correctly in the first place. With a picture selected you'll notice 5 small dots beneath its thumbnail which you can click on to rate things. If you don't see the dots then increase the thumbnail size by adjusting the slider at the bottom of the screen

  • Restoring .dmg image from external to Mac HD in Disk Utility: "Unable to scan image (Input/output error)"

    Hi guys,
So I've got a problem with restoring the image backup I did (using Disk Utility) of my 500GB HD on my MBP which was acting weird or maybe even crashed a few months ago. After creating the backup image and putting it on my external device, I installed Mavericks back to see if everything was alright (mainly the HD) and everything seems okay.
I did try restoring the backup image through disk utility before installing mavericks (thus erasing everything again on the HD) AND after. But nothing..
The whole process starts fine and then it starts scanning the image when after maybe a good 10-15min in I get a message that says that it was unable to scan the image. I tried verifying the disk(s), everything came out "OK". Also tried scanning it through Images > Scan image for Restore... with the same results.
While searching I've seen people getting messages like "Unable to scan filename.dmg (Invalid argument)" and "Unable to scan filename.dmg
(Internal error)" but none have (Input/output error)
    The screen grab is below.
I also came across something about using terminal/commands but I'm not that savvy with it, especially considering that those there had issues with either mounting or trouble finding the image.
I've also tried moving the backup image to a different external device 2TB and also the desktop because I read it may have to do with the format of the externals or maybe free space. But THEN I would get a message saying
"The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Mac HD Backup.dmg" can't be read or written. Error code -36"
Fyi ALL my externals are HFS+/Journaled and the backup image format was compressed.
I REALLY don't know what to do next. Was it the wrong move to create a dmg image? Have I lost everything? Is there still a way out?
    If anyone can help, THANKS!
    2012 MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.9.3)

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • How to highlight / draw onto a pdf document that is a scanned image, then save the added elements

    Hello
I'd like to add markings / little annotations or highlight as if with a color marker various sections of a scanned image that has been sent to me in pdf format, which I visualize with Adobe Reader 9 on my PC (Windows). I need to save the changes and then send it back by e-mail to the original sender.
So far I've been awkwardlky making copies of my screen (PrintScreen function) of each individual page of the pdf document, then pasting them into PowerPoint slides, then using various PPT drawing and textbox functions to add my stuff to the, now, PPT file, which then I sent back as such. This is very time-consuming and ridiculous and there's got to be another way of adding these changes within Adobe Reader or another similar software, doesn't it?
Again, the pdf docs that I need to work on are scanned images (medical charts), not actual copiable text (pardon my ignorance of the correct terminology to explain this).
    Thank you for your help,
    Falingo

    So the solutions are:
    1. "Buy Acrobat"....which Adobe Acrobat ?....Stanard, Pro, etc (...obviously I'd like the most basic and cheapest...which one is that?)
    or
    2. "Enable doing that in the Reader"....how exactly am I supposed to do that?
