There has been no damage to the iBookG4 that i have been using for about a year; but suddenly, the screen comes up with the bottom third lighter than the top. When I jiggle the screen a little, some black and white lines appear and disappear, and if i raise the screen to a certain level, sometimes the brightness evens out. Also, the longer the unit is in operation, sometimes the more even the brightness level becomes. Is this the lcd or the cables? How can i test to see? Any help will be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance.

One approach would be to hook up an exterior display and see if it exhibits any of the same artifacts. If it does, there might be a problem with the video chip itself. You can also run the Apple Hardware Test to see if anything shows up in the form of an error code.
However, from your description, it sounds like the image is affected by the position of the display, which would make it sound like the problem could be with the cable. If you don't move or touch the display, what happens? Does the problem slowly go away as the machine heats up, or do you have to adjust the display to get the problem to change. When you "jiggle" the display, are you moving it by the edge or are you putting any pressure on the display itself by pinching it with your fingers?
If the problem seems to be related to the position of the display, with no pressure applied to the display itself, and the problem does not appear on an external display, then it seems likely to me that the problem is with the cable.

Not that I have found.
If using the <today> link or swiping through the months while in Month view takes to long you can set the iCal page to show 'Year' then double click the month you want.

Display blank, key board light not working, won't wake up if sleeps.

Hi. I just bought a Toshiba Satellite P850 and after two weeks I had the first big problem.
It starts normally first time but after a shut-down and a few hours later start,the display is blank, any light on.The back light keyboard the same - only the power button and battery/wireless-connection have the light on.
If I shut it down again and then restart (by pressing the power button) nothing happened same screen and no light.
Tried to do this.. remove battery,press pow. button for 30-60 sec,plug charger,and the restart. it works. but after a shut-down and a few hours later restart,I have the same problem. If sleep mode it won't wake up.
Don't know what to do.. it's a brand new Toshiba Satellite. used a few hours a day for two weeks.

It sounds like the computer is going into Sleep mode or Hibernation and not coming out of it. Go to the Control Panel and select Power Options. Whatever your current power setting, select the Advanced settings under it. Check out your Sleep and Hibernation settings. In this case, I would disable them. You might want to enable the Screen Saver and let that kick in if you're away from the computer for any length of time.
In cases of mysterious computer issues, the best policy is to simplify. Reduce the number of attached devices. Keep the number of open applications down to a minimum. See if you can figure which hardware or software is causing this problem. And you should be able to fix it.

MBP leaking light from bottom, orange patch

Seeing some leaking light from bottom of screen, with an light orange colour patch in the lower right corner. Is this normal? It's fairly annoying, is there something that my local Genius bar can do for me?

Two small lights at bottom of display

I just got the 2.0ghz macbook alum. and after a day of using it I notice 2 sections of light "bleeding" from the bottom of the display. If I push the display back a little I can see two lights coming from the bezel at the bottom. They are about 2 inches apart and right in the middle of the bezel. Also located right between the left end of the display and the macbook logo.
Has anyone else seen this? Its dim but noticeable when viewing at an appropriate angle, but if i tilt it back just a bit, its just annoying.

Try restarting the computer, If that doesn’t help, try restarting the Dock.
Restarting the Dock
Applications > Utilities > Terminal
Launch Terminal.
Wait until the $ sign shows up.
Enter the command killall Dock
Press the enter key on the keyboard. Wait until the prompt shows up.
Quit Terminal.

White light at bottom of MBP display

hi guys
i realise that theres a light coming from the bottom of the screen but my new MBP has a rather annoying thick white line at the bottom.
Does everyone have this light strip or is it just me?

IMac g5 20" iSight no display loud fans white light

Wondering if someone can help at all,
I've recently been given an iMac which needs repaired,
It seems certain parts have been stripped from it but want to make sure nothing else is wrong before buying replacements.
When I plug in it, I get the white light in the bottom right corner, fans go quite loud after around 5-10 seconds, and no display, also bad smell but think it could be because the previous owner smoked alot.
When I opened up the iMac, the hard-drive was missing and from what I can tell the hard-drive bay too, along with the ram & cd drive.
If I buy these will the mac work or is there another problem

Thanks for the reply, I've just managed to work my way through to the capacitors and they seem to be fine, looking at the soldering I would say they may have already been replaced on the logic board.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Would love to get this working again, Just need to replace what was stripped.

Spectre 13" 3004TU Ultrabook F4A28PA Display rubber seal leaking fluid at bottom of screen

I have a Spectre Ultrabook 13" for which I paid a pretty penny - top of the line specs (i7, 8gb ram, 256 GB SSD etc).
Naturally, having spent so much I have treated it with kid gloves - however, I have noticed small amounts of a clear, oily residue appearing on the screen below the rubber display seal at the lower left and right hand side of the screen. It sits on the glass bezel and smears when touched. It also transfers to the laptop metal opposite the screen when closed, appearing again, as an oily clear fluid. I have not had any luck discussing this with HP reps (in India, presumably - I might as well be speaking Swahili, for all the help they have been).
My initial thoughts are that it may be a solvent which may have been used to attach the rubber seal to the display? is it the rubber breaking down? I have been advised there is no oil-type dampening fluid used in the hinge, so I'm at a loss. Of course, HP, ever helpful have already advised that although the laptop is still under warranty, I will possibly be liable for any costs. Wonderful!
Have been asked to call the HP 'Service Centre' in Brisbane, Australia for advice and to book it in. Naturally again, this service has been outsourced to a provider called 'AWA', and so far, after being on hold for over an hour, I'm still waiting to get through.
This will be the last HP product I ever buy, and no, I won't be recommending their products - on the contrary, I'll be sure to advise everone I can that if this is the standard of after-sales service, steer clear!

Display text in script at the bottom of the main window

Hi all,
I want to display a long text in the main window at the bottom.
In case of single page output the text should be displayed in the main window at the bottom. But in case of multiple page output I want the text to be displayed only in the last page.I have tried giving the text inside BOTTOM ENDBOTTOM but its not working. In case of multiple page output also the text is getting printed an all the pages.Kindly let me know the answer at the earliest.

Ibook display going dull, then light, then dull, then light-battery ok tho-death rattle?help?

Wondering what is going on with my ibook. The display is going light, darker, light, darker, over and over. Computer has also been totally
shutting down on its own from time to time, but starts up ok without any prob. Help? Luckily I just backed it up.

Have you tried resetting the PMU?
The PMU (Power Management Unit) has control over the backlight function, so resetting it may help.

My laptop meets minimum display resolution for Lightroom 5 but bottom of windows display off-screen

I installed Lightroom 5.3 on my older Lenovo laptop with 1280x768 native screen resolution. When I open Lightroom and try to set up preferences, the lower part of the preferences window is displayed off the bottom of the screen and I am unable to move it up to make changes. The same thing happened when it asked me to download the update to 5.5; I could not get to the bottom of the window to say yes.
The Lightroom 5 specs say the minimum display resolution required to use Lightroom 5 is 1024 x 768 display. My laptop exceeds that.
I am using Windows 7 64bit and LR 5 64bit.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Any chance you have set display scaling to Larger - 150% in Windows 7 display settings? It is possible that that is affecting the display size of LR.

In transaction PCP0 (Display Posting Runs) when we process the document, we go to report u201CDisplay Payroll Documentu201D and If in this report we go to Menu Goto --> Revision Item, we can see the document consistence.
If the document processed is inconsistent, shouldnu2019t appear messages error with some lights yellow and red to advice the user? For example, if there is some problem with the cost center, it must appear a red message right? This is not happening.
The user told us that when he verified the simulation document, he used to see this kind of warnings. And now there arenu2019t any advices, so the trial balance sheet becomes unbalanced.
So someone now´s how can I resolve this issue?

In MEP system, the step 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 are being ignored.
This is very critical because the users donu2019t have access to the screen that show if the document is correct or incorrect, and therefore the trial balanced sheet becomes unbalanced and they donu2019t know why.
