It's not only known by BT - in fact because the speed is controlled automatically BT have little knowledge of what is going on.  There are two possible reasons that I can think of:
Your line has suffered a series of unplanned disconnections of the broadband signal.  The automated equipment in the telephone exchange is trying to give you a stable line and the side-effect of its efforts is a speed reduction.  This type of problem can be remedied but the remedy does not always hold in the long term.
There is more noise/interference on the broadband signal than there used to be.  Again, there is a reasonable chance that the source can be identified and the problem fixed.
By the way, I entirely agree that BT's customer care has room for some major improvements.

    Welcome to Sony Community! 
    I believe you were referring to Vaio Care Rescue Mode, right? To access the recovery partition. Is the Assist button stuck from being pressed? 
    Try to Power Cycle the laptop - Remove the battery and all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds OR, if the battery is not removable, remove all peripherals-> look for a battery off button on the bottom of the laptop -> push the button for 5 seconds
    Try to press the Assist button while the unit is on. There are certain models where Vaio Care (Desktop) will open when pressing Assist while the computer is on. Then test while the unit is off. 
    Let us know if this will work.

    After iTunes update to 11.1.3 my Home Sharing does not work any more!
    It worked just fine for several years...
    I tryed to do everything I could find on Apple support... NOTHING works.
    Most of Apple so called updates turn out real crap...
    I am wondering whats happening to Apple?...

    I kept forgetting and procrastinating about following your instructions, since I have internet access only for limited amounts of time and usually I am busy with important tasks when I am.
    Out of the blue, the problem corrected itself (the Save As box started to open full screen, then shrunk down to a normal size and the edges can now be dragged to a custom size).
    Even the copy and paste problem in the filenaming area seems to have been less troublesome lately even though there have been no updates to Firefox in a few weeks.
    Even though I marked the solution as not helpful, the problem has in fact been resolved. I will save the solution instructions in case the issue returns.

    I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store because of the shock issue. I doubt it was caused by the update.

  • Ipod shuffle does not repond any more

    The ipod has worked for four months, though i havent used so frequently. And to day it does not respond any more or can not be found when inserted in may mac (OSX) or my pc (XP), they have both "high-power USB" and "high-speed USB", have also tried in a number of other pcs an macs with the same result. The Mac and the PC cant even find the ipod as an USB memmory/removable memmory, incredible!!!. Since it is not responding i cant make any "restore", and the restor seems to be the final solution to fix whatever problem got the ipod to get lame. The version on itunes is 6.

    Here's my scenario,
    i got my ipod shuffle from an electronics store in the states during the week of 4th of July 2005; however, i'm from Toronto, Canada.........Canadian citizen. I tested out my ipod shuffle @ my cousins computer before i left, which worked. Took it to Toronto (my hometown).......and I was enjoying it. Almost a month of using it, the battery was almost getting low and it needs to be charged. I got my new computer (Windows XP pro) between August 18-24. I wanted to add more songs plus charge the shuffle on the computer. I followed the instructions just like @ my cousins house and u know what........my new computer did not recognize the shuffle at all. itunes was available, however. I tried it again another day...putting the shuffle on another USB, still not recognizing.......i noticed there was an orange light blinking and i took it off the computer. I thought it was broken....songs were still there. Few hours later.....it's not functioning anymore!!!!!!! I tried everything: updating, restoring.....on/off still ain't working. I tried to chat with an Apple representive....no luck.
    What should i do? Should i go to the Apple store and ask them what's wrong with my ipod.
    There's only 1 Apple store in Canada......and its in Toronto,Ontario. Its far from my house.....located near the west-end.
    Plz give me advise ASAP...............!

    Hello guys can you please help me my green light does not flash any more and my blackberry has been slower than the word slow since ever the light is not flashing

    Does the shuffle still play?
    When it is connected to USB and the light is blinking orange, that mean DO NOT DISCONNECT - Eject shuffle in iTunes before physically disconnecting.  If you do that (click the eject button in iTunes), but leave the shuffle connected to USB, the shuffle's light should become solid (not blinking).  Solid orange light means shuffle is charging.  If it's red, the shuffle may have a problem with charging.  Does the SOLID light eventually become GREEN (battery fully charged)?
