Re: Does Satellite A200-10w supports DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM?

HI guys ,
Please i wanna to know does my [toshiba a200-10w|http://gulf.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?LNG=13&service=AE&PRODU CT_ID=127560&DISC_MODEL=1] supports DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM, because i need to upgrade my ram but all i found in the market is DDR2 PC2-6400.
I already got 1 module 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 installed, so if i get on 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400, it will work or not?
And if it will work does the dual channel feature will work?
About the HDD what is the maximum HDD capacity i can in stall in the same model because i'll get 1TB , so this will work ?
PS : my OS is windows 7 professional ..
Thanks much guys ..
Sherif

Hi
The notebook supports the Intel 945GM chipset.
This chipset seems to support max 533MHz.
So if you would plug 667MHz memory modules, then the system would still works at 533MHz.
The modules are DDR2 so I dont see any reasons why the dual channel should not work in your case.
>About the HDD what is the maximum HDD capacity i can in stall in the same model because i'll get 1TB , so this will work ?
Notebook supports SATA interface. The SATA controller has not limitation to the HDD size so theoretically you should be able to use such big HDD but to be honest; I never used such big HDD. The biggest one which I used in by notebook was 500GB and this was big enough.
However, you will need to test it to b e100% sure.

    Hello everyone!
Does my Toshiba A200-1m8 support DDR2 800Mhz RAM?
    thx from advance!

The machine has a frontsidebus of 800Mhz, but it only supports DDR2-667 RAM.

  • Does Satellite A200-1GB(PSAE6E) supports 4GB of RAM

I have a toshiba Satellite A200-1GB and I want to put 4GB of RAM on it.
It came with 2GB of pc2-5300 RAM.
Does it supports pc2-6400 RAM modules?
    Regards

I called Toshiba about this after I bought a Satellite A205 with 2GB factory installed. The salesman where I bought it told me that if I boosted the RAM to 4GB it would run Photoshop even with Vista. yeah right. Vista soaks almost up a full GB just sunning its self. I literally bought this unit on the way to the airport leaving for China with the extra 2x2GB chips in a bag. Needless to say after I installed the 4GB it won't start.
The Toshiba guys tell me that it is limited not by the OS but by the Motherboard.
Has anyone tried changing the BIOS chip?
When I asked why they would put such a limitation on the box they thought I was strange to want 4GB of RAM. Telling me that it isn't really considered the way to go for PSing. I guess they have never heard of Gamming. Or maybe they think someone would want to go bouncing around the 3rd world with a $3000 box to be lost.

  • Satellite A200-10W - Where to find Windows 7 64bit drivers?

I have a Satellite A200-10W notebook. In present I have vista x86 installed but I want to upgrade to windows 7 64 bit but I don't know where I find the drivers because on the website I can't find these.
Can anyone help me? How can I use sound card, network card, webcam and others if i haven't these drivers?

    Hi!
I have checked the Toshiba page and the Satellite A200-10W belongs to the PSAECE series and therefore I could find only Vista 64bit drivers:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Normally these drivers are also work on Windows 7 so you should try it. Maybe all of them will work and so you have Windows 7 with all drivers. :)

  • Is it possibly connect my Satellite A200-10W to TV

Could i possibly connect my satellite A200-10W to TV?
If so, what peripherals do I need to buy?

yes you can, simply purchase a S-Video cable(http://www.laptopaccessoriesinc.com/images/5FT_4_PIN_S-VIDEO_to_3_RCA_TV_male_Cable.jpg) and connect and you also need one Audio cable which can give sound output to TV (http://www.germes-online.com/direct/dbimage/50103844/Audio_Video_Cable.jpg)

  • Re: Does Satellite A300-15B support Windows XP?

Does Satellite A300-15B support 'windows xp?
    thanks

I checked the Toshiba European driver page and didnt find Win XP 64bit drivers for ANY Toshiba series.
I think the Windows XP 64bit drivers will be not released.
Fact is that Windows XP 64bit was not so popular like Win XP 32bit or Vista 64bit OS
Secondly the Win XP 64bit is a discontinued OS so unfortunately, I would not wait for Win XP 64bit drivers

    Hi,
quad is right! I have a Sat 1900 and had the same problem. I wanted to connect an external HDD via USB 2.0

I bought an USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card. After installing it, it works without problems!

  • DDR2 PC2-6400 AMD/Toshiba

Hey everyone. I am a first time poster here. I know Toshiba won't listen to me here, but for anyone that has any
Knowhow of Toshiba laptops hopefully can give me some information. So I have a Toshiba A215-S4757 which I have owned for a while. I love my laptop to the point where I bought another Toshiba model for my brother. I am a very good customer if a company sells me a good product. But Toshiba has done something to my laptop that has me rethinking about buying Toshiba again and I want to know why. After I bought my laptop, I upgraded the ram to DDR2 PC2-6400 with 5 CAS. (Kingston kit KVR800D2S5K2/4G from newegg). At the time I was still running the initial bios release. I don't do bios updates until a problem affects me. I saw there was a bios password glitch going around with the A215-S4757 so I updated to bios version 1.70 at the time. Which from 1.20 had a load of changes. New video bios, fixed possible password glitch and other things. Today I wanted to see what more has changed with the laptop bios in just the change log. I see that from 1.80 and up the ram is now forced at PC2 5300. It's bad enough I have to use a oem bios that they get to enforce this. I will not upgrade of course to keep my ram at the faster speed. The only thing the change log says is "The memory bus frequency was set to the PC2-5300 specification based on AMD recommendation." That same update claims "chipset register was modified to fine tune WLAN performance based on AMD recommendation". So can someone explain what the bright reason for slowing the ram speed was? Is it possible to get an full bios for this machine from Toshiba? I don't care to much, ill stick with 1.70 bios. But I want to know why they did this?

I don't think that's it Chris.  If you check out the Change History for the bios for that system you'll see that it is a global change.

  • MSI P7N SLI Platinum and OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition

    Hello,
I have a MSI P7N SLI Platinum nForce 750i SLI motherboard and I would like to inquire if it is fully compatible with OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition memory? Firstly, I do not seem to get the correct timings with the default settings, speed is not very good, after 5 hours of running Memtest86+ there was 30 errors. I have never had the memory crash and games seem to run fine, but the memory feels much slower than it should be. Is the memory supposed to work fine with this motherboard and I'm just imagining everything? I don't know if I'm also supposed to be worried by the errors Memtest86+ returned?
Thank you in advance for any help.

    If memtest returned errors, yes
Well, there does not have to be a problem with the memory just because it returned errors. There could be many other explanations why there are errors.

Jacobl, please post full system specs.  Read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of the details you should provide.
How many modules of what capacity do you have?  What are your current RAM-related BIOS settings?
If you have more than one stick of RAM, please test each stick seperately with memtest86+ and see if the errors are caused by one of the sticks only.  Otherwise there is no way to tell if there is a compatibility problem or just a faulty memory stick.
Please post a link to the OCZ product site and also a screenshot of the CPU-Z "SPD" tab.
    I have this memory: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_sli_ready_edition_4gb_dual_channel.
This is the rest of the components as instructed by the forum post you linked to:
    Intel E8200
    MSI P7N SLI Platinum
    OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition 4GB Dual Channel
    Gigabyte Geforce 8800GT 512MB PCI
    500GB Western Digital SATA
    SATA DVD burner
    Windows XP SP3
    Antec 500W PSU
I usually troubleshoot components step by step - eliminating all possible reasons until I have found the solution. My first step was to post here to find out if there are any known compatibility issues with the motherboard and memory. I adjusted the memory timings with a slight overclock because the motherboard did not load the default timings by default. I will start by adjusting the BIOS settings, check if the memory is inserted into the right DIMM slots and then test the memory sticks one by one. But to answer my own question: I think the motherboard and memory should have no compatibility issues and it must be something else.

I have the OCZ 6400 Fatal1ty modules 2x2 GB that is very similar of the ones you ask.And they are running perfectly but i must set the epp latency and voltaje values in BIOS! The simple modules of ocz are in the memory compatibilty list i thought that the SLI and Falal1ty modules are just the same with a little boost.
I had to set the right timings also. As far as I know, the SLI and Fatal1ty modules are probably the same, just with a little boost. I think it would be very strange if a module with the name "SLI-Ready Edition" and a Nforce 750i motherboard would not be compatible together.
Anyway, any other advice on what steps I should take? I assume by now that the motherboard and memory should work together without problem. Sorry if I started out bad by not following the posting guidelines on the forum.

  • DDR2 PC2-6400 vs DDR2 PC2-6300

I'd like to max out my Mac Pro as far as RAM. This machine is mainly used for still graphics, not motion if it matters. In my case would I notice a difference between DDR2 PC2-6400 and DDR2 PC2-5300 DIMMs. Are the 6400's worth the extra cash?

32gb on the previous model? And I thought just 16. Then I'll have to rethink all of this. I may only max out one bay for now then. I'll definately get the 2x4 DIMM's and not the 4x2's, so that I can squeeze in as much as possible.
BTW, I do plan on another machine this year, but will be keeping the current one also.
Edit in: what did you mean by "4 x N"?

  • Using 4gb pc2-6400 rams in n200 lenovo?

    Hello!
Does anyone has an idea if the laptop speed boosts up when upgrading from 2x516mb pc2-5300 ram to 2x2gb pc2-6400 ram in lenovo 3000 n200 0769 laptops?
is there any significant difference noted between 2x2gb pc2-5300 and pc2-6400 rams when using in lenovo n200 laptops?
    Thank you.

I know of no way to upgrade the graphics on your model, the graphics is integrated with the motherboard.  Lenovo does, or did sell, a laptop with both an integral and a separate graphics adapter, for a lot more money than you likely paid for your model.
Putting as much memory on your motherboard as possible will make your laptop seem faster.   You need a 64-bit operating system to take advantage of > 4 GB of RAM.    You did not say what kind of Windows 7 you are running, 32-bit or 64-bit.   I'm sure there are other posts on this forum about how much memory your model can take.
It is possible to upgrade the CPU on your machine, check other posts on this forum for details for just what upgrades are possbile.

  • DDR2 800mhz 6400 Ram in older macbook?

    Hi,
I have a 2.0Ghz Macbook that takes DDR2 667mhz 5300 ram, my question is can i use DDR2 800mhz 6400 Ram? I have two PNY modules lying around and seems a shame to waste them!

It's possible the modules may work but not at 800 MHz, but more than likely they won't work. You can always try them to find out.

  • Does the Neo2 support DDR2 4200 533MHz Ram?

Not holding my breath but does the Neo 2 Platinum NF3 support DDR2 4200 533MHz Dual Channel Geil ram? (2x1gig).
It only saysd DDr400 in the manual so I'm assuming it won't run it? (Its a matched pair as well I'm looking at buying).
     Any help welcome:)

Your motherboard does not support ddr2 memory which uses a different socket.
Agreed. In addition: none of the current Athlon 64 CPUs is actually supporting DDR2 (memory controller is built in CPU, remember?). You will have to wait for the new CPUs (socket AM2) which will be available in June 2006.

  • Does Satellite M60-135 support C-Sel?

    Hello,
the TEAC DVD drive doesn't work anymore.
So I'd like to replace it.
Thinking about alternatives I stumbled about the Pioneer DVR-K16L drive.
But this one is obviously configured as "cable select".
Does my M60-135 support this or do I have to choose another drive?
    Any suggestions welcome!
    Thx!

    Hi
Such information is not known to me and mostly if you want to buy an drive for you notebook you should firstly call the Toshiba authorized service provider for information about compatible drives.
There is also another possibility to find out what settings the notebook supports.
I use Nero burning rom and this application supports an diagnostic function. It listed the whole info about the installed CD/DVD drive.
After such diagnostic procedure you should know more details about the installed drive and you should buy the drive which supports the same specification

  • Does Satellite 1410-401 supports USB 2.0?

I cann't find anywhere whether Satellite 1410-401 supports USB 2.0. If not - what would be the recommendations in order to add USB 2.0 support for my notebook?
    Thank you in advance.
    Andrianas

    Hi,
sorry I have to disappoint you. The Satellite 1410-401 has only 3 USB 1.1 ports!
You can add USB 2.0 with external solutions like PCMCIA USB 2.0 Cards.
