Re-download iTunes after iCloud

Downloaded new iTunes version for iClould instalation; then upgraded to Lion. When attempt to open iTunes I receive the following message:
'The file “iTunes Library.itl” cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?'
I have heard the download will wipe out my iTunes library...is it safe to proceed with download?

I'm not up on all the details of your situation but I always feel safe at trying anything because I have a 100% backup clone of my hard drive and can always restore the whole thing if anything happens.  Sounds to me if you want that comfort level is time to get a backup drive.

  • Problems downloading iTunes after upgrading to Windows 8.1

I just upgraded to WIndows 8.1. When I opened my iTunes it said there was an update was available. I tried to update my iTunes but kept getting errors. SO i decided to try and download the update later but when I tried to go to the iTunes store I got an error saying there was a problem accessing the iTunes store and then my iTunes closed. I looked at some of the comments in the community and tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Now when I try to download itunes I keep getting the following error:
I am the only user of the computer and the only administrator. I tried downloading the installer and then right clicking on it and selecting 'run as administrator' and this also doesn't work.
    Please help
    Thanks

"The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\sk.lproj\Printing Templates. The instillation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Windows 8 instructions in the following document: Disk Error Checking in Windows 8
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Duplicate songs in Itunes after Icloud setup.

Once I subscribed to Itunes Match and it did a sync in Icloud, I found many duplicates in Itunes after that. They are identical. It even loaded two song files on the drive. If I try to delete one, it asks if I want to delete the song from Icloud too. If I say no, it just grays out the song but leaves it in Itunes. If I say yes then it will perminatlly delete them from Icloud too. Maybe just another way Apple gets you to keep puchasing the same songs over and over.
Anybody know of a way to get rid of duplicates and retian what I purchased in Icloud?

There is my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning tobackup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
Depending on how you created the duplictates it may be possible to sort the exact duplicates display on date added and remove the duplicates added today, but there is a danger that you could have logical duplicates, in which case deleting the files could also remove your originals, or physical duplicates, in which case not deleting the files leaves the hard drive cluttered with copies. Read a bit of the thread before you decide.

  • Unable to download iTunes after error

Help! A while ago--I think it was after an update, but I don't really remember--I started getting the "Msvcr80.dll is missing" error message and my iTunes became non-functional.  I have done everything I can find to resolve this, and finally wiped everything Apple from my computer hoping to be able to download again. (I still seem to have Apple mobile device support and I can't seem to get rid of it.) Now when I try to download iTunes, I get all the appropriate "do you want to save this file" dialog boxes and I end up at the "Thank you for downloading iTunes" page. But the file doesn't actually download. I get no successful download notification on my browser (Firefox, which displays a green arrow), and the install file is nowhere to be found on my hard drive.
Does anyone have an answer to this? Or are my days using iTunes at an end?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
See the Further Information area of the user tip for download advice and direct links if required.

  • I try to download itunes after deleting it and it says it

I am trying to download i tunes after deleting a corrupted copy.  I have deleted everything I can find rlated to Apple and i tunes, but every time I try to dwonload a new version, it says "thanks for downloading itunes" but it never actually downloads it.  I feel like it thinks there is already a version on my computer, which is preventing it from actually downloading it.  OS is Windows Vista Home Premium

Clear your cache and try again, or switch to a better browser. Hint: Google Chrome

  • My iPod won't sync on my newly downloaded iTunes after I rebooted my laptop because I got hacked! PLEASE HELP! I cant sync anything and it only comes up with Step 1 of 1 instead of the usual 4 steps

Hello everyone,my names Charlotte and I was wondering if someone could help me with my iPod not syncing to my iTunes properly.
Okay well basically,a while ago my laptop caught a virus and in the end I ended up having to reboot the whole thing.
(My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate)
However, because of this,it meant I had to download iTunes again, and so I did.
(I have the latest iTunes and iPod Touch version downloaded)
Then I found a way how to sync all my music from my iPod touch (not the 4th gen) to my laptop, so I did and put all my music and more (from albums I haven't downloaded yet e.t.c) onto my newly downloaded iTunes.
But anyway, back to the original topic. Because of downloading iTunes again and rebooting my laptop, my iPod Touch wont sync to my new iTunes and I don't know what I can do to fix this?
Another thing I did notice was on the 'Devices' option on the sidebar, it now says 'iPod Touch', instead of 'Charlotte's iPod'.
I'm really stuck on what to do because when my iPod does sync to my iTunes it says 'Syncing iPod Touch (Step 1 of 1)', when usually it should be of 4 steps, like backing up data and transferring purchases e.t.c.
    Then it just finishes sync..
One thing I did do was de-authorize it and re-authorize it again as I found online that it worked for some people,.... for me it didn't. To be honest I didn't expect it to work as I thought it was just for anyone trying to hack/take away your music...but it was worth a shot anyway.
    But please help!
I really want to put more songs onto my iPod
    Many Thanks for reading this,
    ~Charlotte

Update: I deleted all my songs in itunes and then put them back on, and then proceded to sync my ipod again which worked! the songs are being put on

  • Can't download photos after icloud

After installing iCloud, I can no longer download photos from my camera. Also, my iPod isn't recognized on my computer in ITunes anymore.
    Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem with Elements 6.0. The downloader starts up and I can see the first few pictures in the downloader before the error message comes up and the downloader must shut down. The only way to get pictures off the phone is through Win Explorer. But, when you try to remove the pics off the phone (i.e. move or delete) the phone reboots. The only way to remove the pics is one at a time on the phone itself.
It is extremely frustrating that Apple has created a decent way to sync music and video, but no iTunes way to handle pictures. Honestly I amazed that Apple has worked so hard to be the standard for music, etc. that they just leave it to the consumer to figure out the picture stuff. Come on Apple.

  • Syncing with iTunes after iCloud Restore Syncs Unwanted Apps

After I had restored my iPhones using a recent iCloud backup, some of my content such as certain videos and music needed to be installed through syncing with iTunes. All of my apps were arranged and installed as they were before the resoration. I had iTunes set to not automatically begin to sync when I plug in any of my iOS devices, so I can review the device first and then begin the sync. Upon plugging in my iPhone, I checked the applications tab, and all of the apps were arranged the way they were when I would unlock my iPhone; everything seemed normal. It would appear that the content that had not been restored through the iCloud restore would simply be installed though syncing with iTunes. The second I hit sync, iTunes began to restore my iPhone with a very early sync, as many of the apps I had deleted some time ago were being installed onto my phone, and my of the applications added since that specific sync were removed. What can I do to just have iTunes act as it should when finishing the restoration on my phone and not default to a stubborn sync? I'm currently restoring my phone from another recent iCloud backup to have all of my apps and their settings restored to how they were less than 12 hours ago.

First make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes. Use the itunes menu to check for updates and install the latest version if needed.
Reboot your computer and rest your iphone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the buttons and let the device restart. No data will be lost doing this. It's like rebooting a computer.

  • Cannot update/download iTunes from iCloud beta

I have iTunes installed on a PC, a MacMini and an iPhone 4, all with the latest version/OS and all devices set to automatically download from iCloud.  However, downloading newly purchased songs does not occur.
I purchased 4 songs from the iTunes store yesterday on my PC iTunes account, and as of this morning, the iPhone and the Mac do not have the songs visible in the music library or 'purchased'.
The account name is the same for all devices.
    Any suggestions?

For reasons unknown, I am now syncing correctly on all devices, with the exception of 4 songs I purchased on iTunes.  Subsequent purchases have synced correctly.
I have no explanation for this in that I changed nothing in my settings.

  • Cannot download ITunes after un-installing it

I could not get ITunes to "acknowledge" my IPad or IPhone or IPod so when looking for advice on the forum, it was suggested to un-install ITunes and then re-install it.
I am having difficulty as it will now not re-install.... I noticed that when un-installed each of the components, there is one that stays there even after un-installing it..... Apple Mobile Device Support.
I need help as I have tried everything to re-install ITunes so I can synchronize my appliances.

Since you've tried this many different times, maybe you can provide the exact error that you are getting.  Without specifics, it's difficult to offer help.
You could also use those specific error messages to search for a solution, I'm certain there are other postings out there with a solution, if a little effort is put forth to find them.

  • Unable to open or download itunes after update

my iTunes asked to be updated, after I did this it would not open. When I tried to open it it would say something about a Mediatoolbox missing or something? Anyway I have uninstalled it and TRIED to reinstall it and I get this error message..
Can you please give me some advice of what to do next? This is on a HP Windows laptop.

If the above steps haven't helped try installing:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for a 32-bit core program, similar to previous 64-bit releases of iTunes.
    Or roll back to:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
    as appropriate.

  • HELP"apple application support not found when installing itunes after a hard drive crash and replace

HELP"   error "apple application support not found" when downloading itunes after a hard drive crash and replacement????

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
