Re-download Lost Songs

Hi
A long while ago I lost a heck of alot of purchases on my iTunes before having backed them up. I heard you can contact Apple and hopefully under the right circumstances, re-download these lost songs. Is there a number i could contact? Or where shall i go if i want to get these songs back? Any help much appreciated, thanks.

  • I have lost songs from HD, and want to re-download them. iTunes won't let me as they have already been downloaded to this computer. How can I do this?

I have lost songs from my HD (iTunes shows them as missing and although the artist folder and album name are on teh HD the songs aren't)
If I go into iTunes I can see I have bought them, and previously downloaded them, but I cannot 're-download them' as Itunes thinks they are there. The download songs not on the Mac doesn't list them, and there is no option to download them again.
Any ideas I either force a new download, or resent iTunes.

Delete the entries in the iTunes library.

  • How can I download my past purchases that are not in my icloud?  Somehow I lost songs that I purchased they say that the orginal files are gone but I did not delete them

How can I download past purchases that are not in my icloud?  Somehow I lost songs it says that the orginal files can not be located.  They are still available in the store but it doesn't give me the option to download them.  I did not delete any songs or files but I am missing a lot of files

The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.
If you have to resort to trying to pull back the library from your iPod see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Note also that if iTunes has an entry for a song, even if that entry is broken, then it won't offer that track for download since it "thinks" you already have it. If you can't find the original files or recover them from a device, then you may need to delete the broken entries, close iTunes and reopen before you can access the past purchases.

  • Lost songs after downloading

Ok this has happened 2 times in the last week. From my iphone 4 I went to iTunes and downloaded a song by an artist. After the download I lost all that artist other songs but the one that was down loaded. Were talking full albums here and several. Were did they go? Does anyone know how to fix this ?
    Please help!

I would call Apple back, explain to them that you are very upset, and if that doesn't help, tell the Apple Customer Service people that your friends are hearing about the bad costumer service at Apple (because of this particular issue) and now you are recommending that they get a PC instead of buying a new Mac. I think that will do the trick! Don't forget the part about recommending to your friends to buy a PC instead of a new Mac, that will be the selling piece!
    Hope it helps,
    Brandon

It's possible that the message you got was to update the AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) firmware...and that something might have gone wrong during the upgrade.
Let's start by performing a "factory default" reset on the AX to get it back to it's original "out-of-the-box" condition.
Then, let's set it up to work with your cable modem...
AirPort Express Base Station Setup (AX) w/High-Speed Cable Modem
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling (optional)
    - Power-off the Cable modem, AX, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the computer(s)
    Setup the AX
With the network components powered down, set up the AX, using the AirPort Admin Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
    - Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - Create a closed network (unchecked)
    - Wireless Security: Not enabled
    - Channel: Automatic
    - Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    - Connect Using: Ethernet
    - Configure: Using DHCP
    - WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    - Distribute IP addresses (checked)
    - Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Do not, at this point, set up any security (i.e., WEP/WPA encryption, closed network, etc.) to first make sure the AX is operating properly. Try to access the Internet wirelessly with your MacBook. If you're successful, go ahead and add any security features you wish.

  • I've setup a new account on my PC and its lost all my songs apart form 14 of them and i can only see my apps that were already on my iphone and ipad and also i cant download my songs/apps that i already own.

i've setup a new account on my PC and its lost all my songs apart form 14 of them and i can only see my apps that were already on my iphone and ipad and also i cant download my songs/apps that i already own.

You have to download the iPhone version of the app - if there are two different versions and if you do not want to pay for the iPad version.
Look in the App Store for the iPhone version and then try to download that one,

  • HT204074 I am using the same computer i used to make all my music downloads and when i try to re-download a song or album it already says "downloaded". i need to re-download because the backup was lost. my computer is still authorized on my account.

If you still have the 'pointers' to them in the Music part of your iTunes library (i.e. where you would click on them to play them) then iTunes will assume that you still have them and will show them as downloaded in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the iTunes store home page - if you try deleting one of them then it should get the cloud symbol for re-downloading, and you can do the same for the others.

  • Lost songs.  Can I download a second time from purchase history?

My daughter has been loading movies and songs on her Touch. I was helping her upgrade the software today and that caused it to crash and that forced us to restore the factory iPod settings. Which deletes all her songs and movies. That's when I discovered that she had been buying and downloading the songs directly into the iPod Touch and not synching with her laptop. So everything's gone. I can see her purchase history on the iTunes Store. Will they let her re-download previously purchased songs and movies? She's pretty upset.

The scenario you have described is EXACTLY why it's an extremely bad idea to rely on any iPod as the only backup for your library.
Store policy states that downloads are a one time deal & it's the USER'S RESPONSIBILITY to BACKUP important files. You can e-mail the store by means of the following customers service link, explain what has happened, & request that your daughter be granted a waiver for a one time re-download of her purchases. Please keep in mind that the store does not have to grant a re-download, but if your daughter is fortunate enough to get that waiver, it now becomes IMPERATIVE that she start some type of REGULAR BACKUP program for her music. Good Luck!

  • Wiped Computer - Lost Songs

My Macbook Pro's hard drive recently got corrupted and had to subsequently be replaced. Unfortunately, I hadn't backed up my iTunes library and thus lost everything. Is there any way I could re-download the songs i've bought from iTunes? I can't find the option in the iTunes store...

Assuming your purchased songs are still on your iPod you can transfer them back to a computer. Please see this page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
If you haven't got them there, then the official answer is that you've lost them. The iTunes Store makes it clear that downloads are once only and that it's your responsibility to back them up.
That said, sometimes iTunes Support will allow redownloads as a special concession - I emphasize that they are in no way obliged to do this - so it's worth asking. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

  • Everytime I try to download a song purchase from itunes I get the error message. 'Unable to Download Song' could not be downloaded at this time. I cannot even sync with itunes on the PC.

    Hi guys,
I need some everytime I try to download a song purchase from itunes I get the error message. 'Unable to Download Song' could not be downloaded at this time. I cannot even sync with itunes on the PC.
    Kind regards
    Ian

One correction, from the icloud I was not able to listed to the entire song.  So when you purchased the song if it wasn't downloaded to your library, chances are you have lost your opportunity to listen to it.

  • I downloaded a song but now it wont play? they charged me too...

so i downloaded a song, and halfway through the download my internet connection was lost, well when i resumed and completed the download, the song wouldnt work and still wont. how do i fix it?

If the download is truly complete--go to the store>check purchases to see if it will download again. If it won't your best option is to contact the store for help. You'll probably want to redown load the file again. Use the links inside the store page to contact Apple.

  • Missing/Lost Songs

I recently downloaded a song onto my iPod Touch. After syncing to my computer, the song disappeared. I've searched for all mp4s on my computer and external hard drives and have searched repeatedly in my iTunes music library, but cannot find the song. I checked on Apple's web site, but they said each paid song is good for only one download, so I won't be able to download it again unless I pay for it again.
Has this happened to anyone else? Can you think of anything I can do to find it outside of searching my computer, iPod and iTunes?

If you can't locate your purchases you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link it'll take you to the support/contact page, from there click on Music Purchases then the Lost or Missing Items option, from there click on "Email Us": Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

  • Computer is tring to download 3 songs at a time! HELP!

Last July I purchaced a song. Let's call it SongA. Before it could finish dowloading my internet service shut down for reasons still unknown. The song was lost, or so I thought, and never tried to download on its own. 20 songs, a new hardrive, and 6 months later I tried to purchase another song. Let's call this one SongB. I paid for SongB but when it started downloadindit said at the top "Downloadind SongA song 1 of 2." That title quickly changed to "Downloading SongB song 1 of 2." My computer was trying to download 2 songs at a time!! I went under "Advanced" on the menu and selected "Check for Purchases." The same EXACT thing happened! I tried multiple times, every time I got on the internet I tried yet, I have gotten the same result every time. Today another iPod user in my house got on my account and purchased SongC. Now the same thing is happening except with 3 songs this time!! Apple is about to lose a faithful song buyer if this is not resolved!!

Go to the Music Store and log into your account. Go to Purchase History and you will find a "Report a Problem" button.

I went into my past purchases to download songs I lost, and when I bring up my history the songs appear but no icon to download the songs again only an x apprears how do I get pervious songs purchased back into my pc that I lost?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
For the avoidance of doubt, are you looking in the right place.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
If you are looking in the right place, it suggests your tunes are still in iTunes or at least in the list of tunes even if the original file is missing, are you able to find these tunes doing a search.
