Re-downloading a deleted podcast

I deleted a particular podcast episode.
Now I can no longer download the podcast a second time.
I click on the manual update, changed the prefs to download all the podcasts.
It seems that once a file has been tossed there's no getting it back.
I suppose maybe if I unsubscribe and resubscribe may work?
Any tips?

If you go into the apple store (to exact area for this podcast; done quickly by hitting the arrow next to the name of the podcast), you can find the podcast you need and hit get episode. it will give you only that podcast without erasing any other ones

  • How to re-download a deleted podcast episode?

iTunes auto-deleted an episode of a podcast which I meant to save.  (Batman from This American Life.)  Now that I have heard the podcast, it no longer shows up in the episode listing.  How can I get iTunes to re-download this episode?

    Thanks for the quick reply.
In iTunes the podcast (This American Life) lists only one episode -- the most recent.  Not the one I'm looking for.
The episode (Batman) also appears as an album available for purchase.
Before the unintended deletion, I did not need to pay for this downloaded episode.  Does this mean if I want it back I have to pay for it?  (Not that this is shocking; I just want to know if I'm missing something.)  Is there any way I might retrieve the lost file from a backup or something?

  • Lost space after deleted podcasts while downloading.

I've had this happen twice: once on my iPhone 5S and once on my iPad 2.  I start a download of a podcast in the iOS Podcast app and then cancel the download.  In the case of my iPad 2, it froze and eventually when to the Apple logo screen.  When it was done, I lost about 6 GB of storage space and needed to reset my settings and data on my iPad to get it back.
On my iPhone 5S, I had the podcast add crash bug, so I removed and reinstalled it.  I forgot to change the settings to not download so it started downloading about 50 podcasts at once.  I started swiping to delete them (which inadvertently unsubscribed from all my podcasts).  When I was done, the downloads had stopped, but I lost 4 GB of space, which was not reclaimed when I deleted the podcast app again.   What's weird is iTunes still shows my iPhone as having 4.5 GB free, but the phone itself said it only had 909 MB free.  I tried re-installing the podcast app, but the podcasts didn't show up there.  I tried restarting and hard resetting, but that didn't help.   Basically the space was gone.  I called Apple Support and was told I needed to do a restore.

I have the same problem, but it happened when I downloaded a sample of a book so I can not do the solution offered by Beachdogz. I would just buy the book but I can't because it says downloading so there's no buy option. Actually it says downloading downloading (twice) if that helps.
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

  • Deleted Podcasts keep being downloaded again, and again, and again

iTunes seems to want me to keep listening to old podcasts.
Since the last update, old, long-deleted podcasts keep being re-downloaded as new whenever the podcasts are refreshed (either manually or automatically). I spend a good 15 minutes going through and deleting them. Later that day, iTunes downloads all of them again.
I've had this program in the past but it was working alright for awhile. Now, since the last update of iTunes, it is back.
A recurring theme with iTunes in particular and Apple OS in general that updates tend to bring back problems that were fixed previously.
Can we just get this to work? I don't have time to keep re-deleting this and iTunes wants to download far more old podcasts than I have room for on my iPhone.

    Rebuild your Mail index:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file.
    3. Restart Mail and wait for it to import your existing messages. When it's done, your emails should be back to normal again.

  • Can't delete podcast "downloadable" episodes

itunes 12 just seems to have changed behavior on me.
I listen to podcasts, then usually delete them.   never used to be a problem.
Recently, all those deleted podcasts have come back again.    They all have the cloud bubble, so they're not on my computer, but they're clogging up my list of podcasts.   I used to be able to delete these cloud links, but not any more. Delete key, option delete, or right clicking and selecting delete, these episode pointers remain.    Doubly strange, as I used to be able to delete them just a few days ago, and itunes hasn't come out with a new version that screwed things up.
    Anyone else having this issue?
    itunes 12.0.1.26
    Yosemite 10.10.1

Delete the podcast itself from your Podcasts item in the source list. Also, go through the library, and delete the episodes. Make sure they're removed from any list that the iPod updates from.

  • Deleting podcasts from iTunes library AND iPod?!? HELP.

I have 61 podcasts on my iPod and in my iTunes library.
I didn't want them anymore, so I unsubscribed and deleted the podcasts from iTunes.
I synced to my iPod, assuming that the files would be automatically removed.
    But they weren't.
I've tried checking and unchecking "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the iPod device page.
I've tried checking "Sync all episodes of:.." and then not checking any podcasts.
It's not worked so far. My iTunes is up to date and everything..my iPod charged..
Im wondering HOW do you delete podcasts - or any other music, videos...etc - from your iPod and iTunes?
Please help! Reply soon, I'm in desperate need.
    Thanks.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.

  • Is there a way to delete podcasts on an iphone without having them reappear on every sync?

I want to delete podcasts from my iphone after I am done listening to them, which works like a charm. The problem is that every time I sync, it download them again! For some reason the Iphone and ITunes refuese to talk to one another to ackowledge that I have deleted a particular podcast and Itunes dumps it right back onto my phone.
It's like a vampire that keeps coming back.
Is there a nice simple (Apple should be good at that...) way to delete them once and for all? I looked for a "When I delete songs I really mean delete" checkbox but there is none.
Why would they allow you to delete something if it will just come back and clog up your memory on the next sync?

    joge2013.
    Same thing here with me!!
I like to have auto download setting on my itunes so i get the latest 'Harvard Business Review' podcast. I started getting into podcats about 6 months ago and think they're great!
I downloaded them all as there is some catching up to do!
I want the latest podcasts downloaded.
Podcasts that I have listened to partly or fully gone off my iphone! and not synced back on
Podcasts that I have chosen to delete off my iphone, not synced back on (some weeks they discuss a topic which really does not interest me in my field.)
..I dont want to manually tick them all either!
    Any help appreciated!
It seems to make perfect sense for me to manage these this way from my iphone (as a podcast is for listening on the go!), yet doesnt seem possible?

  • Deleted podcasts return when syncing with itunes

My podcasts sync perfectly from itunes to my ipad & iphone.  However, when i listen to an individual podcast or delete the entire subscription from either my ipad or iphone i have aproblem.  They are deleted from my device but when i next sync with my itunes on my pc, all the deleted podcasts or subscriptions are put back on my device.  I want them to be deleted from my Itunes not put back on my device.  Obviously i dont want them any more.  When I delete an app from my device, it is deleted from my itunes library for that device. I know it is still in itunes if i need it but itunes doesnt keep putting it back on my device.  How can I get podcasts to either act the same way as the apps do, or get itunes to actually delete the podcasts i have deleted from my device??

Are you using the "Podcasts" app on your device?  If so, then that app manages all your podcasts locally on your device.
If you aren't using the Podcasts app on your device, then your podcasts will be managed by iTunes, and updates downloaded to your device whenever your sync it with iTunes.  Deleting an episide on your device will temporarily get you space back on your device, which might be helpful temporarily in case you need the space for something.  The next time you sync, iTunes will repopulate any episides that are missing from your device, unless you've marked them as played already, or otherwise changed something in iTunes to prevent them from copying back to your device again (delete them, take them out of whatever smart playlist you are using to send podcasts to your device, etc.).

  • Where can I download the Apple Podcast app for my iPad?

HELP!!! Where can I download the Apple Podcast app for my iPad? I urgently needed space to snap some photos, so I quickly deleted several low priority apps to make space.  One of those was the apple Podcast app which I now can't find anywhere.

There is no Podcasts app that "comes with" the iPad. It is made by Apple but you have to download it. See if this direct link works:

  • Deleted podcasts won't go to the recycling bin

I'm running the newest version of iTunes, freshly installed, in Windows 7. Most of my podcasts come from a backup that I dragged and dropped into my iTunes folder. I've done this before without any issues. However, now whenever I try to delete a podcast that I haven't recently downloaded, it will give me a dialog stating that the podcast won't sync if I delete it, and then the buttons "Delete Podcast" and "Cancel" Rather than the "Keep File" "Remove to Recycling Bin" and "Cancel" that I'm used to. Deleting does not send the podcast into the recycling bin as it is supposed to and as it used to, however; it instead keeps the podcast in the same file and removes the instance from iTunes. I don't want to have to delete every file twice. Selecting all files and clicking on Allow Auto Delete changed nothing. Repairing my install of iTunes did not change anything. It seems as though all other instances of this issue are many years old. Assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

  • Downloading Movie and Podcast

Tried to download a movie and a Podcast both actions create a message that states "There was a problem downloading XXXXXX. The required folder cannot be found." Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I've just solved this problem (Win XP Pro):
    (1) Go to your iPod directory (for me, it's D:\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads
    (2) Delete the contents of this folder
    (3) Go to iTunes and hit refresh
That fixed it for me. Hope this helps...

  • How do I delete podcasts from my list, how do I delete podcasts from my list

How do I delete podcasts from my list after they are deleted from my hard drive?  Some old ones have been deleted but the ones since February are still in my list waiting to be downloaded once again.  There are 2 delete options and I'm wondering which one to use.  It no longer gives me an option to delete from my hard drive.  After deleting from my list.  It seems to delete from my hard drive and then sits there.
I would like to use automatic delete, but I need to know if I can change that to 'Save' during the 24 hour period after I'm done listening to the podcast.
This morning everything came back in.  I noticed the settings at the top were all changed to d/l all instead of just 1.  I'm confused about this whole thing and cannot find anything in the way of a tutorial on the Apple/iTunes web site.

Swipe left-to-right across the podcast, hit delete.

  • Deleting podcast subscriptions

I have tried everything I can think of to delete podcasts I am no longer interested in, but they keep showing up on my I-Phone (4), even after synching. Have unsubscribed and deleted in I-Tunes.

I'm having similar problems with the dreaded exclamation point. Even after reading several threads, my problem still isn't solved. Here's the lowdown:
I've tested this feed on 7 different computers (5 PCs, 2 Macs).
All but 2 of the computers can subscribe and download the episodes with no problems. The troublesome computers? One PC. And one Mac.
The feed has been redirected through FeedBurner. I'm subscribing manually (and yes, I typed the feed correctly).
On the problem PC, I can't even get iTunes to recognize the podcast.
When I subscribe to the "original" .xml doc (not through FeedBurner), it works fine.
On the problem Mac, I can subscribe to the podcast. The episodes appear. But none of them will download. I get the exclamation point each time. Clicking on it reveals this message: "There was a problem adding ('Episode Name') to iTunes. The file might be corrupted, or a file type that iTunes cannot play."
When I subscribe to the "original" .xml doc (not through FeedBurner), it gives the same results.
The problem computers are both running iTunes 7.0.2 (15)
The 5 computers that work (Mac and PC) are running various versions of iTunes.
I've downloaded some random podcasts from the iTunes Store on the Mac. Some work. Some still give me the exclamation point.
I've downloaded some random podcasts (even others from FeedBurner) on the PC. Everything works - except the one I really need.

  • 2.2 Issue - Deleted Podcasts Return On Power Up?

First, I want to say I love my Touch (1st Generation) especially since installing firmware 2.2.
The convenience of being able to download Podcasts via built in Wifi and then deleting via touch screen is so convenient.
One glitch however is that I have a few old Podcasts that I have listened to and have deleted via the Touch delete function, but when I power down the unit and power it back up, the deleted Podcasts return. Not all Podcasts, but only a couple of older ones that probably ended up on the Ipod via syncing with Itunes.
To remove these Podcasts permanently, do I have to remove them by deleting from Itunes and then syncing?
    Thanks
    Jeff

Okay, so I think problem solved. For the first time in weeks I synced my Ipod with Itunes and had deleted the offending Podcasts from iTunes before the sync and low and behold, the Podcasts that kept reappearing now appear to be gone for good.
So everyone should note, it seems that if you install a Podcast on your iPod via Itunes, it cannot be permanently deleted from your iPod by using the new to 2.2 onboard delete function, but must be removed from
The iTunes library and then the iPod synced to remove.
