Re-downloading already purchased material?

I just bought a Mac and was curious if, i could re-download songs i have purchased from itunes. and if so how do i go about doing that?

" PRODUCTS CAN ONLY BE DOWNLOADED ONCE; AFTER BEING DOWNLOADED, THEY CANNOT BE REPLACED IF LOST FOR ANY REASON. YOU SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP YOUR OWN SYSTEM"

It is basic to maintain a backup.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup (terrible idea), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:

  • Downloading already purchased material

Okay- so I accidentally rebooted my computer. Is there any way to download purchases that I bought before I became stupid? That's a ton of money down the drain if I can't. I don't want to have to smack a iTunes. Anyone?
    <edited by host>

Were you in the middle of downloading newly purchased music or are you talking about music you bought in the past?
If you want to download music you just purchased but didn't download:
    Start up iTunes.
Choose 'Store -> Check for Purchases..' from the menu.
If it is music you bought in the past:
Rebooting the machine won't erase your music. Did you reinstall Mac OS X?
Are you sure the music isn't on your hard drive? Check in your home folder in 'Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Music'. Are there any folders in there (one for each artist)?
You didn't back up any of your music you bought from iTunes? You can always restore your music library from back up (which apple recommends you do every time you buy more content).

  • HT201272 why can't I re-download already purchased music from the itunes store?

why can't I re-download already purchased music from the itunes store?

What country are you in ? Re-downloading music isn't currently possible in all countries (the record companies need to agree to it for each country). If you are in a country where music can be re-downloaded, then if the tracks are still in the store then they should show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.

  • Why can't I download already purchased music onto my ipad mini

I can't download already purchased music. I've tried connecting to my Macbook but it doesn't recognise my ipad mini.

Try deleting the waiting app then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • HT201272 Downloading already purchased songs/albums... PLEASE HELP!

Okay.... I need help pleeeeaaase! I've exhausted all efforts
I have purchased and downloaded songs/albums... overall experience is great, however, every now and then after the download has completed I only got part of the song (like min 40 seconds or a minute)! I have tried everything I can think of. What's irritating is that it doesn't happen all the time, so I don't think it's a conection or firewall issue. I just want to listen to my songs/slbums in it's entirty... bah, especially because it's paid for. Never had this issue when I was buying CD's LOL
So... How do I download already purchased items without paying for it again? I've tried to do it through iTunes but it says it's already downloaded. Now what?
Any help is appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
    Sincerely,
    Frusterated Avid iTunes User

  • Downloading already-purchased tunes onto a new computer?

Hi, my old Compaq got damaged in a fall, and the hard disk was unrecoverable. I ended up buying a new HP with Vista, and downloaded itunes, so far so good, and MOST of my library from a backup I made in January. Thought I could download already-purchased tunes on up to 5 computers, but reading the FAQ, I see I could only download it once, then play the tunes (from a disk) on 5 computers.
Is there anyway around this once-only download rule? I think I downloaded at least 4-5 albums since I ran my backup (yes, dumb plan, not to be repeated), and don't want to have to pay for them again. Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi, centava99.
Is there anyway around this once-only download rule?
As you have learnt, Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups .
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form at the bottom of this page:

    Good Luck!

  • Re-Downloading already purchased songs

I recently had to wipe our computer due to corrupted files. I was under the impression that I saved all of the music that we had purchased and downloaded from itunes, however when I went back to retrieve it I could not find its location. Is there any way to re-download our already purchased songs onto our computer again since we have already paid for them?
    HELP!

Hello, MamaBex, and welcome to the Discussions.
Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If your hard drive was erased and you don't have a backup of your purchased items, and don't have them on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
If you have your tracks on an iPod or have them backed up (on CDs/DVDs, on an external hard drive, or some other external medium), post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting) and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
    Good luck.

  • Downloading already purchased music in Sweden

I recently made a clean start with a new installation and upgrade to Lion, iCloud and all those new faboulistic apps. Sadly, i was naive enough to think that i would be able to download all my already purchased software, music, ringtones and such without any hassle from iTunes Store after i've installed the new OS but... Nah! The only things that appears under "purchased" in the store are apps and books but no music or ringtones.
Hence, my question is if it's really supposed to be like that???
I googled this and understood that there might be some license issues and that those have to be renegotiated before you can access your music through iCloud. The US, GB, Holland, New Zeeland and many other countries already have that possibility as far as i understand.
    Can anyone fill me in!?
    /God save atheism!

Note: Previously purchased music is only available through iTunes in the Cloud in Australia, Canada, Cypress, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Previously purchased TV shows are only available through iTunes in the Cloud in the United States.
That information is available from here > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
This is why Apple suggests users to backup their iTunes media > How to back up your media in iTunes

  • Music and apps lost from iphone, Can I download already purchased music from itunes again?

I recently had a problem and apps on my iphone would not open, so I restored my phone to the factory settings and I lost all of my apps and music because I failed to sync them properly, can I download the songs and apps I already purchased on itunes again? how?

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
For redownloading apps, look here for instructions.  For songs, movies, and videos, if you don't have a backup of your purchased items and don't have them on another iOS device, you may be out of luck and will need to repurchase your content.
If you have your content on an iOS device, post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis.
