Re-downloading previously purchased movies.

I have several movies I have recently purchased that are not available to redownload. I went to the support page and followed all the suggestions with no luck. Does anyone know why this would be happening? I must be missing something.

Either Apple needs to pay the copyright holder a royalty for each download of that movie, or it's been removed from the iTunes Store.

  • Help with downloading previously purchased movies to new ipad mini

I just bought a new ipad mini and I can't download purchased movies and music to he mini. When I attempt to download the music and movies from the cloud, the download meter shows progress up to 100% and then stops. When I go to my video section or music section, there are no downloads. I have read a ton of articles and attempted every solution possible. I restored my ipad mini from the ipad. I synced with iTunes and tried to download the music and movies from there. Nothing seems to work. Mysteriously, there are times in iTunes that e video meter shows a lot of space on my ipad being used by videos. Then it goes away and then shows it again later as if he videos are taking up space on the ipad. When connected to iTunes, if I click "on this ipad" then movies it shows the movies listed numerous times (showing I have attempted) over and over. Still there are no movies and no music. Can someone that is an apple expert help me solve this problem? I have tried all that I know. I have even tried to convert the videos to ipad format but that option is grayed out. If I click on a movie and go to the convert options they are all grayed out. I have looked at the content ratings, the resolution, and even a suggestion about surround sound. Nothing works for me. I contacted apple support and the lady was unhelpful and suggested I call for paid support. I do not feel like paying for help on an expensive item that I just purchased and does not seem to work. Help!

You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

  • Authorizing computer for downloading previously purchased music

How do I authorize a computer to download the music I purchased on my iPad?

It sounds like you aren't doing this right.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
You will have to contact iTunes Customer service about possibly getting a refund.

  • I am having trouble downloading a previously purchased movie from the Cloud.

The movie in question is "The Mist." I have purchased a lot of movies from iTunes lately, and to save room on my Mac, I have moved all the movie files onto a portable hard drive and simply deleted them from my Mac. Thus, whenever I want to watch a movie, I just transfer it from my hard drive back onto my Mac no problem, and watch the movie. Somehow, "The Mist" got deleted from my hard drive, so I figured "No worries, I'll just download it from the Cloud and get the file back. I've done it before!"
iTunes does this frustrating thing where even if you delete the video file from your computer, the movie thumbnail still shows up in your movies library, and I guess the Cloud considers this as you still having the movie on your computer, because when I went to my purchase history, it said the movie was already downloaded on my computer, when in fact it was not (it also said this for all my other movies, which are not on my computer but on my PHD). Only after I deleted the thumbnail for the movie did it show up under "Not on this computer" and allow me to hit the download button. Then I get this message saying "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 80 days." It will not let me download my previously purchased movie!
I have already tried logging out and back in again, that did nothing. Do I seriously have to wait 90 days to redownload my movie again? Like, is that a thing? What if you have a hard drive wipe, and have to redownload everything from the Cloud again; would you seriously only be able to redownload all your movies in 90 day incriments? What if I need to redownload multiple purchased movies at once, do I have to wait 90 days in between each one?
Am I the only one having this problem? If so, any help would be appreciated.
If this is not a "problem" and merely a "thing" iTunes does for security reasons, then this is a complaint. I have legally purchased this movie under the same account that I'm currently trying to redownload it through, I find it ridiculous that I should have to wait 90 days; you don't have to wait this long for downloading multiple apps/songs/books. Alternatively, trying to redownload the movie from its store page on iTunes is not an option, because as far as I can tell, iTunes does not let you redownload already purchased movies from their store page, as with apps/songs/books. If you try to re-purchase a movie, in the hopes that it will simply let you download it for free, seeing as how you've ALREADY purchased it, instead it'll gladly charge you again for movie. So no, I am not willing to purchase the movie again, I would just like to re-download it from the Cloud as I've done with other movies before it. I don't know what makes this one different.

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

Firstly, I purchased my first iPhone a few years ago, since then there have been a lot of apps released, a lot which I downloaded for free, tried and deleted from both my phone and my iTune 'Apps' Panel. What bothers me is when I do get a new iOS device, iPad and/or iPhone 5, and I don't want to just copy the back-up of my current iOS device to the new one, then to get the apps I want I will have to scroll through countless useless 'trash' applications in my purchase history to 'cloud download' the ones I want.
Just sync the apps you want from your computer. You don't need to redownload them directly on the iPhone Purchased list.
Will Apple be employing such a feature, a 'permanently delete/un-purchase' feature?
    Dunno.

If you didn't make a back-up of your music/movie purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Products may only be downloaded once; after being downloaded, they cannot be replaced if lost for any reason. Once a Product is purchased or rented (as applicable) and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage" iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once If you have an iPod that still has any of your purchases on it you'll find details in this article on how to transfer them to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store Failing this, you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link it'll take you to the support/contact page: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support You might also want to check out these pages for future reference:

I have downloded ITunes to a new laptop and signed in this let's me download previous purchases in to the librery but can't get the films I have bought quite a lot over time any idea how I can get them ???

    You cannot.
You buy one and only one download of movies.  it is your responsibility to backup your purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • HT201272 re-download previously purchased TV show

I am trying to re-download a previously purchased TV show.  I do not have that TV show on my computer anywhere - I did a complete search for it. However, itunes is saying it's already on my computer. How can I re-download?

    Hello taaptar,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To download previously purchased items from the iTunes Store, please follow the directions outlined below.
    iTunes Store
Open iTunes and go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased in the Quick Links section.
Select the content type that you want to download (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books).
Select Not in My Library to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
Find the item that you want to download. You can browse using the menu to the left. If you have more than 2,000 songs, you'll see Recent Purchases instead of All Songs or Albums.
Click the Download  icon next to the item you want to download.
If an item is already in your library, the Download icon won't appear.
Download past purchases - Apple Support
    Cheers,
    Alex H.

  • Does it cost to download previously purchased songs/vides from I Phone onto I Pad 3

does it cost to download previously purchased songs/vides from I Phone onto I Pad 3?

It depends on where you live. You should be able to download virtually everything again for free if you live in the U.S except for some movies, audiobooks and extra iTunes content with movies.
This explains how you can download again for free. You must be using the same Apple ID that you bought the content with as well.

  • HT201272 From Latvia iTunes store i don't see my previously purchased movies. Why is that?

From Latvia iTunes store i don't see my previously purchased movies. Why is that?

Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps.
