Re-editing an exported .mp4

Hi There,
I was wondering if I would loose some video quality by re-editing an already exported file? Can it be compared to a "generation" just like with tapes?
Thanks.

Unfortunately, yes. Each generation of compression will introduce some degradation.
Now, you could Export to a lossless CODEC, like Lagarith, or UT, to maintain maximum quality in the workflow.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Does adobe Premiere Pro CC edit and export 4k and higher video resolutions?

Hey Guys I am new the forum but have been using adobe products for years. I am having some problems finding if Adobe Premiere Pro CC effectively lets you edit and export video at 4k and higher. I am having a custom built computer to specifically handle high resolution output and video editing. I have a 5k monitor to go with it as we;;. Long story short is I need to make sure I can edit and export at full resolution. I am not interested in compressing the video output to 1080P from a 4k video input source. It would be a shame if I have to learn a completely new software program for my business because I have loved previous versions of the adobe premiere pro. any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am expected to get my custom build back this afternoon. Thanks in advance for any help provided!

  • Why does my exported mp4 file look so bad when it is viewed in adobe acrobat pdf file?

I have embedded an mp4 (exported from premier pro cs6) video file into adobe acrobat and its not sharp viewing of my video anymore. It was a sharp video when viewed in both premier and the exported mp4 files, but once embedded in acrobat it looses sharpness, anyone know what the problem might be? Could my settings  in adobe acrobat be wrong? I would think the problem is in adobe acrobat since the exported mp4 video views crisp and clear before its embedded, any ideas to assure sharpness with my video after its embedded into the adobe acrobat pdf?
Hoping someone has an answer to this, I think my problem might lie within the adobe acrobat settings????
or maybe there is no way around and I need to expect this video not to look as crisp and clear after I embed it into acrobat.... as it is when viewing in premier pro, mp4, etc.????
Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
Someone Im sure is taking theri exported premier files and embedding them to create pdf files? Would love to hear if anyone has encountered this issue.
Thanks so much in advance for any help offered.

    Hi Dave,
I just completed a test and comparison between the two PDF's,
compared the file as you suggested with the floating option and changing setting to actual size of the original premier pro / mp4 file size and
the old pdf that did not utilize the floating and file size option.
I do notice a slight difference. The PDF with the floating window with the match of the media clips original dimensions appears to be crisper.
I will be having the final pdf document set utilizing this method for the embeded mp4 movie and hope that the department doing this (next stage of this job) will agree that this is better to use your steps to embed all the video files into a pdf.
Thanks so much for your time.
Hope you had a happy holiday, and hope you have a very happy and healthy new year.
    Thanks, Amy

How do I edit a exported document?

Sounds like you're pretty new to Lightroom.  Rather than open a new thread for each basic question, I think you need to do some reading.  I suggest:

  • Any Complete Tutorials On How To Edit And Export MIDI Files In GB?

Hi. A friend sent me about 25 nice standard MIDI files that all open fine in QT Pro. She wants me to drag and drop them into GarageBand 2, attempt to edit them, change sounds and then export them out as the edited versions, key changes, added bars, change instrument sounds, etc,. Although I'm a trained musician who understands form, I really don't have a clue on how to use GB to edit and export standard MIDI files. Can this be done effectively in GB ver 2 or 3?
Basically what she then wants to do is take the edited MIDI tracks, put them into itunes I guess on her iBook G4 or Ipod and do a solo act playing her keyboard live and usibg the MIDI tracks as background.
Are there any links to step by step tutorials on how I can lerarn this procedure? Please offer any advice and links if you can and thanks for your help

Not really practical, I'm afraid. Capturing screenshots and cutting them up is possible with Photoshop, but PDF editing is very limited (fix a typo, move a picture).

  • I have a sony hdr td 20ve 3d video camera. Is it possible to import into iMovie 11, edit and export in 3D? I have an iMac 2008 model running Lion 10.7.4

Is it possible to import 3d from the Sony 3D videocamera, model HDR TD 20VE into iMovie 11, edit and export the files to iDVD and produce a disc that plays on a 3d compatible DVD player?

Yes, you can purchase Lion as well as iPhoto and iMovie from the App Store. But before you can do that you must update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 by installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. Then you can sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password, locate the items you want, purchase them, and download them to your computer.

  • Help with an editable checkbox export value

    Hi,
I have a form where clients can select their preferred plan. I have used checkboxes and set the export value to the plan cost, which then gets tallied at the bottom. However, I now need to make the value of the plans editable so the sales agents can sell the plans for whatever price they choose to. How do I make the checkbox exported value match the text field of the price?
    Rebecca.

That's not the way to go about it. What you should do is use a script that checks if a box is ticked, and if so, adds the value in the corresponding text field to the total, instead of trying to edit the export value of the box itself.

  • Gamma shift when exporting MP4

I know this is a known issue, but I have yet to see a viable solution.
Working off PC and exporting via Adobe encoder.
When exporting H.264 in an mp4 container, there are significant gamma shift issues that void several hours/days of color correction work. It really washes out the color.  I have viewed these exported mp4's in quicktime and VLC on multiple computers and the issue is still present.
Quicktime MOV exports seem to be fine, it is only when exporting H.264 mp4.
Some have mentioned changing the NVIDIA settings which seems to be an internal fix for that monitor, but I am exporting video's that will be going on the web for distribution.  I really need consistency across all media platforms.
This is a very big deal that needs attention and hopefully a fix is in the works if it is not already out there.
    Thanks,
    Austin

    Gamma shift once clip starts
    Pure black before clip starts
    Thanks for the reply!
The above demonstration is the same in VLC as well.
We exported black for a few seconds and then faded into a jpg image using the generic fade in effect.
All that was used in this clip was a jpg image at the end that we faded into. For this test we used no video.
    Running Premiere Pro 8.1 Caravan on a Dell Precision T5610 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v2 @2.10 GHz 32gb RAM
    Working off a Synology diskstation ds1513 20TB 4GB RAM
Only third party installed effects are film impact transitions, but they were not used in this clip.
Let me know if any more info is needed.
    Thanks

  • IPhoto 8.1.2 won't play slideshow or edit or export photos

iPhoto stopped playing slideshows and has been doing this weird intermittent "refresh."  I updated to Snow Leopard in hopes that that would fix the problem, but now iPhoto will ONLY get the photos from my camera - no editing, no slideshows, no sharing, etc.  I have iPhoto 8.1.2.

I don't know what happened, but now I can edit and export, etc.  Slideshow still will not work.  It just keeps doing something that looks like it is refreshing the screen - kind of a fade out and fade in.  I'm not sure if it's because my version of iPhoto is out of date?

  • Editing and exporting videos from youtube

I downloaded a justin bieber video from Youtube.com.I edited this video using adobe premiere pro cs5. I tried exporting the file and it seems that I am not able to play the exported file. Is there something wrong with my file selection? Adobe Premiere Pro does not allow editing or exporting copyrighted materials? I am not gonna use the video for any commercial purposes. I am just making a video for my niece who would celebrate here birthday next week. Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
Can you please give us the full details of the YouTube file that you downloaded and edited, plus your Project/Sequence Preset? Then, what Export settings did you choose? What happens, when you Export?
CS5 does not know if the material is ©, but that is an ethical question, that you must address.
Also, starting with YouTube material will never yield good quality, but again, this is something that you must address.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

In QT, if you open the Inspector, what is the format? Post a screen shot of the info.
Did you try one of the Video Share presets?
If you've got high quality material to work with, uploading to YT or another video service should produce good results. They will re-encode whatever you give them.  So as s long as you give them a sufficiently high quality file to start – and assuming it's h.264 – you should be good.

  • Can You Edit And Export 60 fps Video With iMovie 10.0.5?

So the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus let you shoot video at 60 fps, right?
Well, my question is, can iMovie 10.0.5 for the Mac let you actually edit and export this video, maintaining its 60 fps frame rate?

I posted what I found to this thread iMovie 11 10.14 Exporting a 60fps file to Maverick?
    Hope you find it helpful.

  • Editing and Exporting Audio Track Only

Is it possible to just edit and export the audio track from a project that contains video and audio? I turned off the video track, and was able to make edits on the audio track but when I export the edited audio track entire unedited audio track is exported.

That did it. I didn't have the audio timeline material selected as the active window.
    Many thanks.

  • Why wont premiere CS6 export .mp4's?

why wont premiere CS6 export .mp4's?  Everytime i try to export h264 mp4's the final export is an unrecognizable .m4v file.
I read about this 'bug' in a thread started over 8 months ago,  and read that the 'work around' is to export with audio on. (my videos have no audio channels, so why would i want to save them and make them larger, by encoding them with audio?)
I am preparing to switch from Final Cut 7, to Premiere Pro, but i'm concerned to do so as this bug apparnetly was never fixed by adobe, almost a year later.  There seems to be no way to encode an .mp4 without audio using Premiere Pro CS6 or Media Encoder CS6.  Is there any kind of patch or another way to export .mp4's?
    thanks.

That is exactly my point!  Why should I have to export an audio channel and increase the file size to work around a known bug of the software...
We export about 100 videos a day and it will add up.  These are files that will be online, and size is an issue.
I'm just not sure that we'll want to invest in software with a known bug that hasn't been addressed after months.
I was hoping that maybe there was a patch or update that I haven't found yet.  Thanks all.
