Re-editing LR3 files in LR5 density mode

I have some files that were originally edited in LR3.  They appear in my LR5 library, but with the old LR3 density tools (i.e. 'fill light' and 'highlght rescue').  How to I switch to the LR5 density mode (i.e. 'shadows' and 'highlights')?
Thanks in advance!

Just below the histogram on the right there is a lightning symbol click on it and you will get the prompt to change the process version.

  • Cannot edit sudoers file in single user mode.

I did not back up my sudoers file on my pro.
I made a change to it, adding my "test" user to be able to use sudo, but upon restarting, it didn't work, and I cannot edit the file via cd in single user mode.
I mounted the drive, changed permissions, but it seems that I don't have the option to use vi, visudo, vim.
    Thanks for the help.

I mounted the hdd using the command below.
I then made sure I could get to the file by cd to it.
Then once I was there, i would attempt to type vis <tab> to complete, and visudo does not show up. Typed in visudo, nothing. This was on a brand new mb pro. I can wipe it out, but I would rather figure out why its not working.
The reason for all this is I have to give it to a user at my job. We don't want them to have admin rights to install anything they want, but they need to use sudo in X11 for compiling and such. I read online that I can edit/add their username to the sudoers file, and allow them the right to sudo for compiling, starting apache on their laptops, etc.
    Thanks.

  • I am not able to use Firefox with Sharepoint - I can only open a file in read-only mode and cannot checkout the document and edit.

I would like to use Firefox with Sharepoint.
However, I am only able to open a file in "read only" mode whch means I cannot edit the document and save it. I am also not able to "check-out" a document in Sharepoint and edit it at the same time.

This may not work for everyone, but I solved this problem by clicking on the file name in sharepoint, not the document icon to the left of the name. This then brought up the various options, including checking out, editing, version history etc. It seems obvious but I have only just realised this!

  • Unable to edit Excel file via WebDAV in IE

    LS,
    Aim
To be able to open an Excel file in Oracle Portal via IE for editing (ergo, if changed it needs to be saved in the same location where it resides = database)
What have we done so far
OraDAV has been implemented (basic manner), a pagegroup has been created in Oracle Portal for security, next we stored some Excel files for test purposes.
Opening and editing using Windows Explorer (when testing) works fine, but opening from browser (Internet Explorer) opens Excel-file in read-only mode!
    Workaround
Create windows shortcuts to Excel files in the OraDAV Webfolder, shortcuts are then placed in a public Windows-share which is running on a workstation.
Accessing these shortcuts from both Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer works fine then.
    But...
Unfortunately, implementing a windows share on a server is considered to be not an option by the network security team, and it's also not an option to continue using a workstation for that purpose.
What does Metalink say (we created TAR for this)
    CLARIFICATION
    ====================
    This issue happens on WEBDAV.
    Using=>Windows Explorer it works fine.
Using=>Internet Explorer it does not do as the customer aspected.
    Webdav:
    Using=>Windows Explorer
    going to folder
    http://<machine>:7778/dav_portal/.../QA1.XLS
double clicked QA1.XLS and this opens in Microsoft Excel.
After made modifications the file is saved correctly without any issue.
    Using=>Internet Explorer
    Calling the
    URL:http://<machine>:7778/.../QA1.XLS
the file QA1.XLS opens within Internet Explorer the Microsoft Excel plugin.
Problem is it the file opened in read-only mode and when you click save it wants to save
    in local drive.

    Integrating with the desktop
File-type item content can also be published to the portal repository via the Webbased Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol. Using a WebDAV client such as Windows Explorer, a portal page group can be mapped as a Web Folder. Users can then simply drag and drop content, files, and folders between portal pages and the desktop. File-type items can also be opened, edited, and saved directly from WebDAV desktop applications like MS Office 2000.
    Thus...
Even though Metalink is implying it is not possible, one would think it IS possible, since IE is also a valid WebDAV client.
    Bottom line
Does anyone know how to set up Portal in combination with WebDAV to ensure editing of Excel files will happen via Internet Explorer AND changes will be saved back onto the original location
    Thanks, Patrick

    hi patrick,
this problem is not solvable on the serverside since this is a desktop integration problem. since you want to use excel as your editor you have to use excel's client side software.
oracle drive purely addresses desktop integration and is not meant to be a server side component. it is a webdav client and for that only ensures that the communication between the client and the portal server has as much useful functionality as possible.
the only other option that i see is downloading the document to the client, update it and copy it back up to the portal server, which is cumbersome.
all webdav clients are client side software that is either shipped with the OS (MS webfolders) or needs to be installed on the client (oracle drive).
you could check if there is software availble that is an excel plug-in for internet explorer which at the same time talks webdav to portal. not sure if this exists ?

  • Can't edit .html file in dreamweaver?

Why can't I edit .html file in Dreamweaver CS 5.5 when it is not attached to a template?
I have always been able to edit it every other time I have opened the file (since I built the site over two years ago).
Now each time I try to edit it in Design mode, no matter where I click in the file the whole page gets a dark grey overlay and I can't get a curser.
I am still able to edit the code directly but I do not want to be restricted.
The last thing I did the last time I opened the file was paste Google Analytics code in just before the </head> tag. I did this to all the files on the site but this is the only one that isn't working. I have tried taking out this code but it makes no difference.
I am using a 6 month old Macbook pro.
    Can anyone help me?

In your stylesheet you have -
    .container {    overflow:hidden; width: 100%;}
    .container2 {   overflow:hidden; width: 646px; margin:0 0 10px 0}
Try right clicking on the page in Design view and then selecting Element view > Full and see if that helps.

  • Merge to Panorama in Photoshop not using edited RAW files

When I had LR4, I could Edit in > Merge to Panorama in PS and it would take the edited RAW files and merge them. Now in LR5 it seems to be taking the unedited RAW files and making the panorama. Is there a setting or something I'm missing in LR5?

Yes it is that simple. Just do a google search for Lightroom and Photoshop preference file locations and you should find them. The next time you start the programs, they will rebuild them. Of course, you'll have to re-enter any custom preference settings you've used. Good luck. Of course, when you think you've located them. Just rename them and move them into another folder first. That way, if you've picked the wrong file, you can easily move it back. Once things are working, you can just delete them.
BTW, this is a good troubleshooting tool for any mac applications that are acting wonky. Just delete that preference file, and more often than not, the problem will be fixed.

Host( 'cmd /c "\test_folder\testing\PURCHASE_ORDER\'||:PO_FILE_NAME||'"',NO_SCREEN);is this is the way to open the file in readonly mode?
Along with the above the files which i opened with the help of above said code those files i am not able to delete also.(i have to delete the selected file)
i thing when i am setting the attribute something is going for a mess!
    Please help.
    Thanks..

    hi,
Read only means you cannot mofiy the file. This also includes that you cannot delete a readonly-file yes,
what i am doing is i have three button in my layout 'save','view' and 'delete'.
1.so when user press 'save' button after selecting the file then the file gets saved into the specified.
    2. when user press 'view' button the file has to open in read only mode.
for this i have written above mentioned code(but still i am able to edit the file)
3.when user press 'delete' button the file has to be deleted from the specified location.
so my problem is after setting file to read only mode, i am able to edit but i am not able to delete it.
What i am using to set the file to read only mode is right?
    Please help.
    Thanks..

  • Using Oracle "Import PDF" Extension in Open Office Draw to Edit pdf Files

I am a fairly new Mac user with OS X 10.6. For several months, I have been trying to find something which would edit pdf files better than Preview does (for example, the content of a text box in Preview can only be "center aligned"). Skim and FormulatePro were two options I tried that were improvements over Preview in many respects, but wouldn't let me paste an image onto my pdf (such as, for example, if I wanted to put my digital signature on a document).
Then, I "discovered" the Oracle PDF Import Extension which I had installed in Open Office months ago, but hadn't really used. By "discovered," I mean I read on somebody's blog that you could use Open Office Draw to edit pdf files and I thought, "Hey, I wonder if that would work with my setup." (Boy, do I feel stupid.)
I have just started using this functionality, but in just an hour or so of playing around, I have found that it has far exceeded my expectations and, even, my immediate needs. Besides giving you (a) all the control over text and text boxes that you would expect from, say, a word processing program and (b) allowing you to paste images onto your pdf, Open Office Draw also includes layers!
The layer function threw me off for a bit, because, at first, I kept finding that my attempts to edit the document resulted in grabbing the raster image and moving it "off" of the underlying text layer (a function, I will admit, that I think will be worth exploiting someday, but wasn't what I was looking for at the moment). Then, I discovered that you can "lock" the layer so as to prevent this annoying occurrence. To create your edits, simply create a new layer (call it "MyEdits" or whatever you want) and you're in business.
Anybody who has done anything more than drawn a couple of lines and boxes on a page has discovered that editing the overlapping objects can be a real pain - if not an outright impossibility. Separating these overlapping objects through the use of different layers solves the problem.
The only downside to the use of Open Office Draw as a pdf editing tool that I can see is that you must import the pdf, save your edits in odg format, and then export it to pdf when you're done. I know that we would all like to have the capability of doing everything I just described directly to the native document, but, hey, for all the functionality I have been searching the internet for weeks to find, I think it's a reasonable trade off.

    Try turning off protected mode.

  • Edit CSV files present in document library using Microsoft Excel

    Hi all
I have a document library with CSV files uploaded. I have used the below mapping in DOCICON.xml present in \14\TEMPLATE\XML folder.
    <Mapping Key="csv" Value="csv16.gif" EditText="Microsoft Excel" OpenControl="SharePoint.OpenDocuments"/>
And I modified mime type with "application/vnd.ms-excel" for csv in IIS7. Now, when i click on the file  popup is getting displayed with 2 Radio Buttons.
    1) Read Only
    2)Edit
When i select "Read Only", the file is opening in Microsoft Excel in readonly mode But when i select "Edit", the file is opening in Note pad and its editable.
Now, My requirement is to edit the csv file in Microsoft Excel not in NotPad.
Can Any one help me to acheive this!! Thanks in advance.

    Try below:

  • IPhoto issues editing Raw files in PE4

I've just acquired Photoshop Elements 4 and was happy at the prospect or keeping my photos in iPhoto and editing them in Elements.
I mostly shoot in RAW format but when editing a RAW file in Elements I can't get the edit to show up in iPhoto (version 6).
On the other hand when processing jpegs from iPhoto to Elements the edits show up fine back in iPhoto.
Is the problem with the format change when converting RAW to Jpeg I wonder?
I did notice that when saving the edited RAW file -and choosing Jpeg as the new format- iPhoto defaulted to the "Original" not the "Modified" folder for the save. Couldn't iPhoto determine that the file has been modified? Is that because the extension was changed?
I also tried saving and manually selecting the MODIFIED folder but with unhappy results. The edit did show up, and in it's proper place, but when viewing in "full screen" mode the image resorted back to the unedited version after 3 or 4 seconds. I tried that a couple of times with the same results...!? I hope I didn't corrupt anything in the process!
I realise I could just do a "save as" to my desktop and import back to iPhoto but that creates a double and also a new roll for each import...
I haven't seen any posts about this. Has anyone had the same problem, or am I missing something elementary?
    Thanks for any feedback.

iPhoto is a consumer-level application, and RAW is a format mostly for professionals. When you import a RAW file into iPhoto it saves the RAW in the Originals folder and instantly creates a jpeg version of it in the Modified folder. This causes the problem with your editing workflow.
Yes, changing the file extension in Elements is the same as doing a Save As - it breaks the link iPhoto has with the original. This is why you don't see your edits back in iPhoto. Any time you change the extension you will need to save as to the desktop and import the edit as a new original into iPhoto. As you've seen, you cannot save directly into the iPhoto library folder because images must be Imported for iPhoto to recognize them. If you know which files you placed in there, go ahead and drag them out (using Finder) to your desktop. Then import. (Be careful not to tamper with anything else in the library folder while you're in there.)
My suggestion for your RAW workflow is to use Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload from your camera (to a folder anywhere outside of your iPhoto library folder). Edit in Elements. Last, import into iPhoto. Once inside iPhoto, the desktop copies can be deleted. You can set Image Capture to open when you connect a camera in Image Capture Preferences.
iPhoto does create a new roll each time you import photos, but you can always reorganize your rolls. Choose Library and View > Sort Photos > by Film Rolls and you can combine, create, retitle, and redate your rolls. For example, you could keep separate rolls for files with a RAW original versus files imported as jpegs.

  • EXPORTING FILES FROM LR5

Using Win7 64-bit O/S.  My ususal procedure from LR4 after editing is to export to Elements 9 catalog using the Cntl-Shift-E commmand.  I rename the file as it suits me then export to my hard drive location by pressing "Export".  I then go to PSE and get the message "New files have been found.  Do you want to import?" Clicking yes adds the file to my Library.  After installing LR5, I can't import edited files from LR5 OR Photohop (CS5).  Similar experiences?  Work arounds?

I can't import edited files from LR5 OR Photohop (CS5).
Why not? What happens when you try? Is there an error message?
In my opinion there there is a work around as designed by Adobe:
Use LR5 as your "Organizer" (not PSE), and use PSE as an auxiliary editor. The process is much smoother than what you describe, and your problem goes away. Adobe designed Lightroom to work smoothly with the PSE Editor; but there is no design to allow Lightroom to work smoothly with the PSE Organizer.

  • How to edit raw files in lightroom?

when editing raw files in  lightroom the only extra option I seem to get is more control over white balance.  Am I missing something?  is there a way to open raw files in camera raw (like in photoshop elements) or can the editing options I get for all photos raw(nef) and jpg work better on raw than on jpg?  I am a little confused by it...

Lr uses Camera Raw internally for processing raw files.
You create renditions by editing raw images in develop mode until you are satisfied, and then exporting those renditions.
If you mean you want access to proprietary NEF settings placed in the raw image by the camera or Nikon software... this is not possible. You can mimic some of the settings with camera profiles and presets, but Lr (like most software) does not have (complete, unfettered, unencumbered) access to proprietary image details.  Adobe uses the public Nikon SDK to get access to the encrypted WB information.

Not a problem; not scolding, just suggesting that users there might be of more help, since CS5/CS5.5 is a whole different animal than CS4.
I suspect that, if setting playback to full resolution didn't help, there's not much you can do with these files as they are. You'll have to convert them to something else. Does the break up appear when you step through the video frame by frame? If not, you could use AME to convert these to something else, which will then let you edit a little more effectively in Premiere Pro.
EDIT: Sorry, missed that you said that exporting retained the blobs. In light of that, you'll have to look at a third-party converter to flip these. MPEG Streamclip for Windows might work.

  • Just imported picture library from Aperture - Can't view Nikon D800 NEF files in LR5.7.1

Just imported a large picture library from Aperture to LR 5.7.1- Can't view Nikon D800 NEF files in LR5. The projects and files loaded - but no thumbnail view of the image

I have a Nikon D50 nef on my desktop. Double-clicking on it opens Photoshop, which launches Adobe Camera Raw. If you get that far and can make adjustments in the ACR panel, you are fine. That's what opens first.
Then you click "Open" in ACR and your nef opens in Photoshop and the document tab on top gives the .nef extension. You make your edits there, but if you close Photoshop, you won't save it as nef, it won't be in the Save file list. You save it as psd for example and close Photoshop.
You now have a nef with develop settings on your desktop and the psd you saved out of Photoshop.
All perfectly normal as J.J. said, Photoshop will edit the nef file, but it will be saved in a format other than nef.

  • As administrator, I cannot edit certain files unless I add read/write/etc. for the Users group.

I'm administering a Subversion server running on Windows Server 2008 R2.  When I need to add access to SVN repositories, I need to edit a svnaccess.txt file.  This file sits under C:\Program Files(x86)\CollabNet\Subversion Server.  When I
attempt to edit the file, though, I cannot save it unless I save it to a new file.
My account is part of the local administrators group.  All of the folders and subfolders in the path have Full Control enabled for Administrators.  The file itself also has Full Control enabled for Administrators.  Yet, the only way I can
edit this file is to add Modify and Write permissions to the local Users group even though my account is only part of the local administrators group.
What's odd too, is that if I can edit these permissions I must have the appropriate administrator privileges.
I searched for this a while back and recall seeing a hotfix for this as it was a known bug in Windows Server 2008, however, I cannot for the life of me find this link anymore nor do I see a fix like this on the hotfix spreadsheet.  I need to locate
the hotfix that corrects this to provide to our system admins.  For some reason, they will only install hotfixes if a problem is identified.
If anyone knows of the hotfix that corrects this issue, please let me know! :)
    Thank you!

    Hi,
As you said, if a user account belong to local Administrators account, when only Administrators group has permission on a folder, all admins except Administrator account will not have permission to access it.
This is caused by UAC. All accounts in local Administrators group are actually working as standard accounts. When an Administrator action need to be performed, a prompt will occurs for permission to promote to admin permission. As only Administartors group
has permission on a folder and the account we are using is working like a standard account, we will be denied from accessing.
A workaround is to create a new group for all admins and give the group enough permission for accessing the target folder.
Or you could run all accounts in Administartors group in Admin mode. See this article:
UAC Group Policy Settings and Registry Key Settings
