RE: export to play on a windows media player

I am forced by the IT department to put a video onto windows media player, Which format works the best, I want to share a 15 min video over the net. ANY help or advice would be appreciated. I have tried AVI but the video looks like crap, compared to QT.

Thanks so much for all your responses.
I will trial the two programmes that have been mentioned - in terms of streaming .asf I am still in the dark as to the best way to proceed.
Would you all recommend converting first to a WMV file and then using a PC and related software to convert to .ASF - as I would have to do with Flip4Mac
Or... using software that will convert directly from .MOV to .ASF on a Mac - as the Aimersoft programme seems to suggest it does?
Thanks once again - I have been really impressed and really grateful with how quick these forums are to help people out!

  • Exported Video is fine on Windows media player for test upload on Youtube now distorted and unfluent

I made a "slideshow" for a product video for work those are my sequence settings
    I exported it at H264 and 1080p 29.97
When I played it in Windows media player it ran perfectly now all of a sudden when I uploaded it to Youtube it is completely distorted and unfluent (all the animations, face in and out) look horrible.
Does somebody know why this changes so drastically from media player to youtube or did I do the wrong settings when exporting it?
It would be life saving if someone could help me thanks! :-)

I tried that but that doesn't get rid of the problem.
You are right there are no video files...
Do you know which settings I have to chose in general if I want to have a video that can be exported onto youtube in HD?
Because I am out of options does it have to do with the fps maybe? Because it looks so chopped of as if the video is to slow to process it smoothly?
Thanks so much for your help btw :-)

  • I bought an album on iTunes, and one of the songs plays for 7 seconds, then it stops playing. I even tried to play it in Windows Media Player and it didn't work there either. How do I make it work or get my money back?

    Please help.

Music purchased and downloaded from iTunes will not play in the Windows Media Player.
Try re downloading the album >
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Yes. Use the iTunes command File > Add Folder to Library and point it to the folder where the music is stored. Start with one folder so you can see how it works. iTunes will add whatever is compatible.

iTunes is only designed to sync Apple devices. However, the songs in your iTunes library can be used for other purposes. Follow the instructions that came with your player.

  • Can't play videos on Windows Media Player from Xperia z3

I have recorded som videos and while trying to load them onto my computer via USB some show up and others just play the sound without the video?
Can anyone help with this problem?

Hi Gearld, welcome to the community!
I would advise transferring the files through PC Companion using the Media Go app like Phy has suggested & also playing the videos through VLC player rather than Windows Media Player as this VLC player can read a large number of formats and is most likely to play your videos smoothly.

  • CS4 using a Mac and want to play video using windows media player

Hi I am having issues with file types to play video back using Windows media player.
I am producing video using Premiere CS4 on a Mac and I need to know what format to use to have the files play in windows media player as .mp4 is not compatable with wm player.
    Thanks

I have Windows Media Player installed on my PC workstation and I do remember installing a codec so that MP4 files could play in WMPlayer 11 on Windows Vista 64-bit (should work on 32-bit also)
look near the bottom section of this link for further information.  The codec is called DirectShow
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992#34
Otherwise if you're posting videos on a webpage for example in the mp4 format use the Quicktime html wrapper so that people using Mac's can also view your videos that are encoded for PC's.  If you encode in wmv format (Windows Media Video) then provide a link to the "Flip4Mac" application that can use Quicktime on the Mac to play Windows Media Files.  I think you can find it on www.mactopia.com .

  • Play Vodcast in Windows Media Player format on Apple TV

I would like to view a video podcast (can only play on RealPlayer or Windows Media Player) on my Apple TV and iMac. How can I make this work?
    Michiel

Yeah, try Flip4Mac. If you want, post a link to the vodcast and we can see if it plays thru F4M, but it probably will. F4M is the way to view WMV content on a Mac now....WM Player is no longer supported by Microsoft for Mac's.

  • I definitely have put this under the wrong catergory but i don't care, I was wondering why everytime i click on a video to play it says: Windows media player has stopped working

Ok, so I made a video with Bandicam, and every time I click on it to play it (it is saved as an MP4), it just says: Windows Media Player has stopped working. Then it gives me two choices: Close the program OR look online for a solution. I REALLY want to
post these videos, but I can't. If anyone could help that would be great!

    Hi juderocks14,
Please first take a check with the other Players and see if they could play the MP4 file normally. If it can't be played, which means it might be corrupted. You may ask at the Bandicam side, or save the files again.
If issue insists, take a try with the Troubleshooter (For Windows 7, 8 and 8.1):
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
Or you may try to turn Windows Features on or off to reset Windows  Media Player:
Turn Windows features on or off (Before turn it on again, please remember to reboot first)

  • Playing video in Windows Media Player

Ok I know, I'm the dreaded Windows user in the Apple forum. But I have good questions and as soon as I can afford it I'm getting an Apple laptop.
Why can't I play the videos I downloaded in Windows Media Player 10? I'm pretty sure it's because I don't have a codec to play a .m4v file but where can I get one? Any help?
    Thanks all

    Bravo!
EDIT: I miread your post. I'll renanswer differently this time.
Why can't I play the videos I downloaded in Windows Media Player 10? I'm pretty sure it's because I don't have a codec to play a .m4v file but where can I get one? Any help?
Because Windows media is competing technology. Since there's no real video "standard", different manufacturers use their own proprietary formats whenever they can.
Depending on the video files you have, you might be able to convert them into some format that can be played on the iPod or in iTunes.
Since I'm not a Windows user, I am not familiar with the format of videos downloaded using WMP.
Try to look for a converter that will put your videos into one of the following formats:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
If you can get your video into one of the above two formats, it will work just fine on the iPod.
Many conversion utilities have been mentioned in these forums. I believe Videora iPod Converter is popular amongst Windows users. I can't recommend it, since I have no experience with it. I just see it mentioned a lot. Seems users have had mixed results using it.

  • How can i play music in windows media player and wmp format?

I am trying to preview songs off online music stores such as barnes and noble and borders stores. but i am unable to do so. I get the message "mime type aplication don't have a plug-in intalled for this mim type, it can't be displayed". i downloaded flip4mac and tried playing to but it doesn't work. All the online previews I have com across aren't playing on my mac. Help!

Download and use StuffIt Expander to open the file; if you choose to throw away Windows Media Player later, press the Option key while emptying the Trash.
The Windows Media content in question may contain DRM, in which case there is no Mac software that will play the songs.

  • Export options for use with Windows Media Player

In Captivate 5, what formats can be exported to (now that AVI is no longer a choice) that will work with Windows Media Player? Unfortunately a Flash based file is not an option in this instance.

    Hi there
You could publish from Captivate as FLV or F4V, then use a conversion utility to convert to AVI if you want.

  • Play subtitles in Windows Media player

Hello , This is Question for Adobe CC Premiere 7.2.1
Has anyone succeeded in above program to play in WMP an embeded  file  (export scc and media file)  ? I  sucesfully to export (media file and scc) and than play a embeded subtitles in Quick time player but for wmp i don't know what else I should  do. i export (media file and scc) in WMA format on the  similar way as for the QTP, I exported instead  in QTP  format I choose Windows Media from menu . File-> Export->Media->Format->Windows MEdia I use win 7 and wmp 12 version  . I choose option in WMP ''Play subtitles if it available'' but it still doesn't appear.
I hope that you  understand my grammar and problem and that you will help me , regards from Slovenia . .

Thx for answer to both person.
I think that such  simple feature (convert to wmp format) is only a war against the Microsott  user
but it is a very sad moment reputation of Adobe CC usefulness.
Also there are many things which I wonder why  Adobe CC have not.
I wonder if it does not want or it can not have. I have in mind why there isn't realized
to export scc (maked in CC) in other useful format such as srt or sub.
I think these are great ''little'' things that people need and more respect and use Adobe Premiere CC.

  • Play M4P in Windows Media Player

When I first found iTunes and its music store I was never ntofied that I was purchasing a proprietary music format that required me to play the file in iTunes or on an iPod only.
I own several digital music solutions including an in-dash mp3 (cd) player as well as other non-apple mp3 portable playback devices.
None of these devices are compatible with the mp4 extension. I have legally purchased this music for my personal use and I cann use it unless I use apple products and it infuriates me.
Is there a software solution that will allow mp4 to be converted to m4a or mp3?
I am not interested in buring CD after CD from iTunes for the 500+ protected files in my library. One I shouldn;t have to do this. I already paid for the music, I shouldn;t have to spend more money in order to play it on my own computer or non-apple digital music device. Two the amount of CDs I would use to do this and the time it would take is not an option and I would only have to burn a CD each time I buy music from the iTunes Music Store.
I need a software solutuion. I have codecs that allow WMP to play m4a (as I would rather play music there than in iTunes) but I need a way to translate m4p to mp3 so that my non-iPod can use the music I have legally purchased.
Apple turly needs to notify, IN BOLD PRINT that the music you by from them is only useable on their devices. I will not purchase another thing related to iPods or iTunes until there is a solution for this that does not invole me spending any additional money.

Question 1: Is it possible to listen to the song on my Sandisk MP3 player?
    No.
Question 2: Can I simply burn the m4p to an audio cd-rom?
Yes, you can burn it to a CD-R or CD-RW as a standard audio CD.
A CD-ROM cannot be written to.
