Re: exporting quicktime files results in no sound

Hi There,
I have read many pages looking for this answer so I apoligise if it's an easy one.
I have Quicktime Pro 7.1.3 and I cannot share or export any of my Quicktime movies without losing sound. I have gone to File > Export and then chosen options but it won't let me access Sound for me to make any changes. I have also gone to Applications/Utilities and the audio output is 44100.0 HZ and sound on every other application is okay (and every Quicktime movie plays fine, this problem is only when I export or share).
Any solutions would be wonderful, thanks.

I am wondering why it is a 'normal' function of QT, to export without sound, it's a pain to go to one other step.
It is basically a difference in technology. QT employs "frame-to-frame" synchronization for data contained on separate "tracks." MPEG-1/MPEG-2/VOB and a limited number of other odd files are "muxed." In this case both audio and video data is contained in interlaced "blocks" of data on a single "track." Since the data is played sequentially, it remains "self-synchronized" by virtue of the fact that one type of data cannot physically "overrun" the other during playback.

You know Lloyd, if this is a second thread about an old problem, you are really better off in the original thread. It allows us to follow along with the problem at hand, what has been suggested and what you have tried so far and the results.
Just off the top of my head and without searching for the original thread (I'm too lazy today,) I'm guessing you might have a corrupted file or render file.
Does it always stop at the same place? Where is your media stored? to where are you exporting? How much ram do you have?
Here we go, starting all over again...

I need to export Quicktime files using the PhotoJPEG, MJPEG-A, or DV codec.  Is this possible in Final Cut Pro X?  In the options under export I don't see any of these available.  I'm a newbie to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm importing .MOV files from my Canon 5Dmk2 at 1080p.  So should I just export using a different codec and then use Compressor or MPEG Streamclip to convert to an MJPEG-A or PhotoJPEG codec?

  • Export QuickTime file with new audio and maintain the file size and quality as the original.

I shot some footage for a client yesterday and ran into an issue. To make a long story short I have QuickTime mov files shot with my Panasonic GH4 that have a buzzing sound in the audio track. I have clean audio from a recorder that can be sync'd. Is there a way for me to do this for the client and deliver them as the same QuickTime file but with the clean audio and keep the file size close to the original and not have quality loss in the image?
If so I will probably put all of the spanned clips together from each interview and sync the audio before delivery. I am just not sure which codec will give the client the same quality footage compared to the originals and not have a massive difference in the overall file size. They did request that they be Quicktime MOV files though so that is a must.
I don't see this as an option in the codecs in the export settings in PP, but is there a way to export as ProRes or another MAC native codec that will save them from having to convert it on their end? I am on a PC with Adobe CS5.5 so I am not too familiar with MACs, but from what I understand they would need to convert the files if I sent them straight out of the camera.
I found some related search results for this but they pertained to "Best quality" for export. I am not sure how the varying options work but I don't want to create files that are considerably larger, just not less quality.
If anyone has experience with this it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Cole

Here's the workflow: I imported the video footage into iMovie '08 and did my edits. Then I exported it (share) to my desktop with compression set @ 740 X 480. Then I used QuickTime Pro to fix the audio track. The file plays perfectly with both audio tracks working. It's a QuickTime file (.mov).
I hope this jars any replies as to why the file when uploaded to my iWeb gallery drops the second audio track.

  • Why does Adobe Media Encoder fail to export Quicktime Files?

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit PC.
While exporting the Quicktime variant of H.264 for ATSC television broadcast files, Adobe Media Encoder fails.  Non-Quicktime H.264's render correctly, but some television stations require quicktime.
Troubleshooting reveals the problem only occurs when attempting to make a 1920x1080 H.264 QuickTime file.
Using the same original file (1920x1080), Adobe Media Encoder WILL export a 720x480/486 H.264 MOV file.
More interesting still, it will ALSO export at 1280x720.
Testing this information to it's limits, I found that the cutoff for a successful render is between a frame size of 1610x906 and 1609x905.
Useless, random sizes, I know... but that's the breaking point for Adobe Media Encoder CS6 (6.0.3.1 to be precise) and H.264 Quicktime files.

I'm trying to make a file with the extension ".MOV" using AME's "HD 1080i 29.97, H.264, AAC 48kHz" preset.  AME fails every time with the following message:
    "Encoding Failed
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error."
Any other file extension (MP4, M4V, etc.) renders fine.  The issue seems only to happen when attempting to make an MOV file.  It doesn't seem to matter whether I use AME's built-in preset, or customize my own render settings--the problem always happens with any MOV larger than the size I mentioned above.
All of this used to work just fine on the same machine 2 years back with Adobe CS5, previous version of windows and QuicTime.  I've been all through the Adobe and Windows possibilities, so I'm grabbing at straws here with QuickTime maybe having something to do with it.
    Interesting.
Would you happen to know if Adobe has made any changes to its manner of muxing long-address MPEG-4 AVC data to the MOV file container? Since the MP4 and M4V files encode properly, have you tried opening these files in a media player and simply using the "Save As..." option to move the date to an MOV file container without transcoding audio or video data? I.e., is there any obvious relationship between the size of the MOV file encode (less than/greater than 4 GB) as a function of the resolution "break point" previously discovered?

  • Burning exported quicktime file to cd

Newbie here. After exporting different short (less than 3 minutes) files to quicktime (using a variety of settings) my quicktime file plays fine on my computer. I have even uploaded these files to Youtube with no problem.
The problem is burning the quicktime file to a cd. I've tried different write speeds, but the file hangs or is so choppy it is not watchable. I am not able to view the quicktime file on my computer or any other.
My computer is new (less than a month) so i tried burning a quicktime file exported from iMovie. That file plays fine. I wasn't sure if the problem was my cd drive.
Is there something simple i am missing? I've read many parts of the manual and looked thru this forum and am not finding a solution.

I was using a cd as the file was so small (ranging from 6mb to 600 mb - i've tried 2 dif files and converted them to quicktime multiple ways).
I did use the "quicktime movie" option to export, (along with the conversion. The conversion options had more settings i could control for Youtube use which was suggested on another site.http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/you_tube_reduxgary.html) The sole purpose is to upload to Youtube. I'm burning to a cd as i am just giving the file to the person i made the movie for so they can keep it and upload to Youtube. I have not tried putting the quicktime file onto a dvd, but didn't think that was not needed for a 10mb quicktime movie. I did make the movie self-contained, but it won't play on my computer either.

  • Export Quicktime File for DVD for Composer

My Composer wants a quicktime file of my film. I know if I export it the way that I usually would for iDVD, the file will be too large to burn onto DVD. Any suggestions about what to do? If he doesn't need the full resolution, how can I change the size & res options before I export it?
    Thanks!

Most composers want a frame-accurate, or at least a frame-referenced, piece of video. With your extreme compression, she might not get what she needs to do accurate syncing of the hero shot s with the hero music and effects stabs.
I'd ask her for more information and I'd also think about providing a copy of your film with a timecode overlay.

  • Exported quicktime files have video & audio out of sync

I am using FCP with a Sony HVR-Z1E. All seems ok in my edit etc but if I try to export my edit to a quicktime file using the quicktime conversion option the audio and video are out of sync on quicktime. If I export using quick time movie option, all is fine as this file is played back by FCP. I have tried different settings but I cant get the audio to be in sync with the video. My settings are HDV 1080i50 on my 15" Macbook Pro
    Thanks for any help

You can open your "quicktime movie" (not qt conversion) in quicktime player. Simply control click on the file in the finder and choose open with... Try that and let us know if the file is in synch.

  • PE7 and Exporting Quicktime Files for Streaming

PE4 saves Quicktime (H.264) files with the header at the end, so trying to stream them as they download in a Flash player doesn't work (the entire file must download before it will play).
Has anyone with PE7 had any luck streaming Quicktime files? I wish there was a way for me to ask an Adobe developer if they addressed this in PE7.

You can definitely export chapter markers to a QuickTime movie. Whoever is playing it back needs QT Player 7.1 (I think) to be able to use chapters though.
Make sure you select Chapter Markers in the FCP export dialog instead of All Markers. I have never tried it with a streaming file but go ahead, be a pioneer and tell us how it works out.

  • Imovie '11 crashing when exporting quicktime file

I want to export very short video clip from imovie11 with qtime to a 720HD at 60fps, but it keeps crashing... when I right click on the icon in the dock, it says that "application not responding". Is this normal because of the C2D macbook not powerful enough? Should I leave it alone for a few minutes to see if it will come back??? Haven't been successful exporting via qtime, but had success via export movie from imovie natively as 720p... What is the difference??

Actually I have 6gb of ram now! LOL
I was thinking of swapping the 2gb stick for another 4gb stick = 8gb ram. Because sometimes I use parallels desktop... but for my casual needs, I rarely max the ram. But I was able to finally do this, by deleting (actually just copy the imovie.plist file to the desktop) started imovie again like it was the first time, exported the video via quicktime and adjusted the settings. I was able to out put to 60fps/59.94fps at 720p. It took a while, but it did it! I don't know why resetting the plist affected it. But it worked!
Now if I could just improve the quality!!! The original videos are so crisp! and sharp! but after importing and exporting, there is so much noise and huge pixels... I wonder what happen to the 720p??? (same thing happened to a 1080p video) Not HD! that will be another post... but if anybody has an answer now...I'll appreciated it very much

  • Can't export QuickTime movie correctly! (Only Sound exports!)

(This is my first post xD)
Hey guys, so I made an aanimation in flash CS5 and I tried to export it into a Quicktime Movie. But somehow only the music that I importet into the Animation exported so there's no picture when I open the file.
Any Idea what I could do?

Any number of things could be wrong. Only the content that is on the timeline will be exported to the video. You can only use a limited range of Actionscript in the timeline. Can you give any more specifics about your file?

  • Unable to export Quicktime after upgrade from Premiere 7.0 to 8.0 (2014) error "incompatible video codec in preset"

In the previous version of Premiere Pro (downloaded two months ago) I was able to export QuickTime files with preset HD 720p H.264.  It was very easy to do this in the previous version.
Upgraded to Premiere Pro 8.0 (2014), no when I attempt to export the same project with the same settings I see error message "incompatible video codec found in the preset. present load failed"
When I select Quicktime, the default preset appears as NTSC DV Widescreen 24p.   Attempted to export with this setting, result is a file that plays audio but no video.
System is Windows, tried two different computers, including one with Windows 8, same result. Tried Media Encoder, same result.
I searched the forums for an answer, the new features page lists these presets as available however they are not working for me.  Nothing else was changed on the computer, only the upgrade to Premiere 8.0 (2014)
How can I export Quicktime files in the new Premiere Pro?

Tech support helped me solve the issue - uninstall QuickTime and reinstall the newer version of QuickTime
