Re: Fair usagae policy viloation Blocking

Dear Skype Team,
I have been associated with skype for many years. I have used my skype account for any commerical purpose. I have premium account, mainly used to call india family, friends. At time I use for Australia local calls. But never used for illegal purpose. I paid 116.49 AUD for my subscription .
Now I have got an email stating subscription is blocked.
Fair usage policy violation blocking
We have noticed some prohibited usage of your Skype subscription.
As a result, your subscription will be terminated within the next 24 hours, moreover, you will no longer be able to use or purchase any of Skype’s paid-for products.
The suspension of your access to Skype paid-for products is permanent and you will be unable to transfer any existing paid-for products to a new Skype account, or receive a refund. However, you will be able to continue to make Skype-to-Skype calls and send instant messages.
No explanation and nothing.
Is this fair to block my paid subscription without even a single warning?
I bought subscription with some trust on the company and its service. Now, seems like they just stole from me.
I am wondering which policy got vialated? I need clear explanation. I have paid huge amount and I need explanation.

I received same email. When I spread a word within friends that its unlimited & good. They tried to singin but could not find India in to the unlimited list.
I also feel the same like you guys , that they do not want to keep India unlimited & thats is why pretending a policy violation. If parents are using it from Australia , they want to call all people , sometime continuos callss as might be network issue.
Skype is microsoft , Mr Satya Nadela you understand Indians are not cheaters. They pay money to call , Skype /Microsoft already took 117 AUD from me & now telling me I can not use????
This is insane, I request all such victims to rais ethier voice

    Help
I have just spent 3 hours on the phone over the last two days trying to sort this out. We are on Option 1. Yesterday we received an email stating that we had used 7GB of our 10GB usage and that we would be charged if we exceeded the agreement. However, when I rang, about an hour later, I was told that we had used 11.2 GB and that we had exceeded the fair usage policy. We don't game, download films etc., and our general usage is apparently about 1GB.I have spoken to numerous people at BT, the last one, from the BT technical team, told me that he didn't have a message that said we had exceeded our usage and not to worry. He said that he had spoken to 7 people all of whom he had reassumed. I'm really unhappy about this and very worried that someone has accessed our broadband. I have checked everything and can't see any other system on our broadband network and everything is passworded.
I note that other people have had this problem. I cannot understand how BT staff do not seem to appreciate how worrying this is for customers.

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
May I ask if you use Facebook or Spotify ? The former can use a few 100 MB per day depending on application, and the latter is a p2p system which will utilise your connection for "sharing" purposes.
Have you checked the online usage meter (a couple of ways to access it is via my shortcuts option 14d & 14e) - to see what figure is showing ?
The problem with the 7GB email is that it unfortunately doesn't really give any extra useful information about when the figure was breached or by how much.
Hopefully DavidM can get to the bottom of the problem (and based on the info the tech. chappy gave you), it might turn up a generic problem somewhere which may also help with the other recent reports of higher than expected usage figures.
To be honest it's not impossible for someone to piggyback onto a broadband connection if they know the passwords and access etc, however this is probably not very likely in the vast majority of cases.

  • Extremely Unhappy With the Fair Usage Policy

Can someone please answer me this, what is the point of having a 20mbps unlimited connection when there is infact a cap of 100gb pm? It's such a rip off my blood is boiling!!!
I've gone over the limit apparently and had my internet connection butchered as a result. The assistant on the phone said it's a "slap on the wrist" I seriously thought what an unprofessional cow and wanted to tell her to f*** off if I'm honest. I don't expect such rudimentary terminology to be used on me when I'm a paying customer, it's outrageous.
Now I read the fair usage policy and find out why my BitTorrent speeds have been so terrible, even before the recent capping of my speed. On a well seeded torrent (2000+ seeders) in a fully port-forwarded uTorrent I am achieving 30KBPS. After midnight they improve but still only averaging around 300KBPS. They throttle P2P as part of the draconian policy! Use GLASNOST (google it) to see what horrible things they are doing with your P2P!
Can someone explain to me how you justify limiting a so called "unlimited" bandwidth at a rate that is only 60GB more than your capped packages? This is clearly false advertising and your fair usage policy is the worst I have ever encountered. Either this is resolved or you can forget it, I'm cancelling my subscription, you will not get another penny out of me, and you can take it up with my lawyer.

They say its not limited as you are only crippled during peak hours and can down as much as you like in the remaining hours **bleep**

  • Fair Usage Policy On Total Broadband Option 3?

I know the usage on BT Total Broadband isn't actually unlimited and it has a fair usage policy. This used to be 100GB but since BT Infinity came in I can't seem to find the policy on BT's site. Has it changed?

    Hi.
The 100GB figure has never been on the fair use policy site, and neither does the new figure of 300GB appear (it's been that since middle/late August).

  • ITunes and Fair Access Policy

I currently use Hughes Net for internet service as it is the only internet I can get. We are switching to AT&T for cell phone service as they are the only company with service where I live. There is no 3G service, but at least I will have cell coverage again.
To my point, with the iphones en route to me, I went ahead and downloaded iTunes. I loaded it up, and it started configuring my library and all. About 10 minutes in, I get a message saying I exceeded my Fair Access Policy usage. I knew about it, and keep a monitor on the usage, but couldn't figure out why it did this. The only thing I had running was iTunes, and I don't think I was actively downloading anything.
The only thing I could reason was that maybe iTunes was connecting to the internet to get album art I don't have in my library.
Has anyone had this problem before? Or does anyone know if iTunes is constantly running internet usage for some reason?
I'm sorry if this has been asked before - I'm new.

The AXn that the TV is connected to is now set up to extend the network.  (This may not be correct but it made the most sense during the setup)
No problem. Actually, configured to extend the AEBSn the AXn will provide better throughput than the ProxySTA configuration and have the benefit of support both wired (the TV) and wireless clients.
The AXg is in another part of the house and is used soley for airtunes.
I assume that you have then configured the AXg to "Join a wireless network" instead of creating a WDS ... and, if so, this would be the appropriate configuration as well.
With both AXs configured as such, both should show up as "AirPlay Speakers" as long as you have enabled AirPlay on both through the AirPort Utility.
Additionally, (seperate question) if I run an ethernet cable from the AEBSn to my iMac, will I be able to use airtunes?
AirPlay works over both wired and wireless connections. You should be able to stream from the iMac (connected by Ethernet to the AEBS), and then, the AEBS will stream wirelessly to either Express.

Re: BT TO SCRAP 300GB LIMIT!.
    on 08-03-2011 16h27
    Hi everyone
Yes, this is true! BT Total Broadband and BT Infinity customers will benefit from the removal of Fair Usage Policy (FUP) controls when they begin to be removed from April 2011. Once removed, heavy user customers will be able to download/stream as much as they wish without having their speeds restricted.
BT will remove the FUP controls currently applied to customers with ‘atypical’ usage. Today atypical users are restricted at 300GB usage and account for less than 0.5% of the BT customer base. BT will not target any individuals with restrictions based on usage levels. However, we still have traffic management policies that will restrict certain applications / protocols, such as P2P, when the network is busy.
As BT continues to invest in the network and network bandwidth we can now remove these restrictions and ensure the experience of the wider customer base.
(Note that charges will still apply for going over limits on BT Total Broadband Options 1&2 and BT Infinity Option 1 but traffic will not be managed.)
    Thx

  • Fair usage policy violation warning

Would like to know how it is determined for a violation.
Got an email on the subject line just now.
To me, i am calling only the regular numbers and in an emergencey now, calls are frequent and lenghtier. Most of the months so far my regular usage level is far below the minimum level and it can be verified.
Let me know what is the basis for the above notification. Is it based on the number os minutes consumed?
Awaiting the quick response to fix this!

I am using Skype premium Credit which allows me to make calls from my Mobile and Laptop to make unlimited calls to 50 countries. Sometime my wife uses my laptop to make call to my home country as well. Recently she went to Bangladesh and tried calling me from there few times. She came back two weeks ago and now nobody uses it from outside Australia.
But last week I received the similar emails from Skype like yours but I am not sure what they are identifying as fair use. I have read the fair use policy and I didn't do anything that is contradicting the policy. I have tried to get support related email address from Skype web but failed. Is there anyone who knows any contact info so that we can raise the issue with?
Another friend of mine was saying that first he received an email from Skype warned him of fair-use violation who is on a 600min per months subscription but hardly use few hundreds min and his service has been terminated temporarily the next day.

My Fair Usage Policy - 6 hours per day is about cross the limit. Is there any ways to reset it before GMT 0000hrs

    Unfortunately no
Otherwise if everyone could reset it on their own then there is no point for the restriction.

  • Fair usage policy

Does BT`s fair usage policy work both ways?? In the months when i dont use  Broadband as much, why isnt this discounted off the months when i do? Surely on a fair usage policy this should apply!

Nice idea but its their usage policy and is fair to them so comes under the title of "who said life was fair"

  • Received" Fair usage policy violation warning" ema...

I just received an email from [email protected],and the subject was Fair Usage policy violation warning. This is ludicrous!
Basically the email says that after spying on my account, well they used the term"monitoring" which is ridiculous. they came to the conclusion that I was abusing the fair usage policy.
    Firstly I felt that my personal privacy was violated by being spied on by Skype;
Secondly , the package I bought was 10000 mins phone to call worldwide, the reason why I purchase this particular package is becoz I was looking for a pair of Valentino lady heels, in order to have a bigger chance in finding them, I would have to call up as many stores as I can. And since this is what the package offers,I don't see what's wrong with me calling all the boutiques and department store branches. What I don't understand is how could calling stores in different locations has been judged as abusing fair usage policy?
This just became very personal, also I think what Skype did and the email going thru length to explain their suspection is absolutely rude and absurd.
I demand that Skype should stop violating SKype user's personal privacy and spying on their accounts. There're so many software out there right now, which would probably offer more service and respect for the consumer, and I'm sure Skype will lose more users if they keep on spying on our accounts.
And I would really love to contact Skype customer service team over phonecall or email, unfortunately I've looked through SKype entire website, and there's no info related to that. If anyone knows how to contact Skype,do share please. I'll really appreciate that.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bazap,
According to your description, you would like to delete the file desktop.ini for some users. Right?
You could create an OU which contains the users whcih you would like to delete the file, and then configure a GPO which is set to delete only apply to this OU. For your information, please refer to the following article to learn how to configure a GPO
