By the way, Ghostery and LSO manager are not security solutions. If you go into Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, can you see the extension you want listed? They may be incompatible, or have been disabled, for some reason.

After firefox automatic up date my Sothink web video downloader(full version) has stopped working. I have reinstalled the software but still does not work.

About 3 update ago it did the same thing then all of a sudden a new update and it started working again now with the last update it has stopped working again.

Ok. I disabled hardware acceleration. The only extension is the McAfee Scriptscan for Firefox 15.1.0, which was already disabled. I then disabled all plugins (Acrobat, Google Update, Intel Identity Protection (2x), Java Deployment Toolkit, Java Platform, MS Office 2013, Quicktime, Shockwave, Silverlight), which were all up to date.
Normal or safe mode still has same result. No startup, no option button and no customize.

Go to Options>Applications>click on, in your case, Adobe Acrobat entries and select "Use Adobe Acrobat(in Firefox)" or as you wish.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 with Firefox 3.6. Tried to install a video downloader for youtube. I get error -228 for all plugins tried. I have followed the trouble shooter and software installation is allowed, and cache is 50MB and enabled. Any suggestions?

And went to "error -228" and followed this instruction>
"On Linux, this error can be caused by IPv6. To disable IPv6, go to about:config and find the preference network.dns.disableIPv6, then right-click on it and toggle it to true. This change will require a restart of Firefox. "
This fixed the problem and I can download plugins and extensions without difficulty.

It may be that security is blocking the download, so I suggest downloading Digital Editions first and then installing from there. Check out the kb doc below, it has links for manual downloads of Digital Editions for both Intel-based Mac and PowerPC Macs.

When upgrading to OSX Yosemite do all my programs and files transfer over such as Office for mac, saved documents from word,excel,pics,pdf files,etc.etc...

Yes, upgrading to Yosemite will not touch your 3rd party apps or files in the Home folder.
Although not mandatory you should have a a backup of your hard drive regardless if you upgrade to Yosemite or not. To not have a backup is just playing Russian roulette as there are only two types of hard drives; those that have failed and those that will.

Upgrading a Video Card for Mac Pro (Early 2008)

I have little experience upgrading systems hardware and I was hoping to get some input as I try to figure out a cost effective card for my 2008 mac.
What I have:
* 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel
* ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
* with OSX 10.10.2 Yosemite
. . . so far I am looking at the 5770 HD to be a likely replacement if I buy the right one (some, if I'm understanding correctly, aren't compatible because they were flashed for older systems or are simply defective and so require selective shopping— hence, they were not officially supported). Also, I am unsure if OS Yosemite runs the older cards.
I work with Photoshop, Illustrator, and play games like Starcraft2 and WoW.
My question is:
Which video cards are compatible with my system and what would be the best replacement? . . . and will I have to downgrade from OS Yosemite to run certain cards?

Hi there, welcome to the community.
My advice to you, to achieve cost effective performance, would be to use any vanilla NVIDIA graphics card. Newer versions of Mac OS X have drivers that should be compatible with the card out of the box. The only downside to using a non-mac specific card is that you wont see the boot up process, as the graphics card wont be initialized until the system is completely loaded. If this concerns you, leave your old card in one of the slower, unused slots if possible.
If you are worried about compatibility, I would recommend purchasing at Best Buy, where you can take advantage of their return policy.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

Upgraded to IOS 5 software and having problems synching music with my laptop

Not sure what happened, but after I downloaded the IOS 5.0 software upgrade I kept getting errors when trying to synch the ipone with itunes on my primary laptop that runs Windows Vista. None of my music can be synched becaise I continually get an error that the device is not recognized.

I would suggest opening "Apple Software Update" (from "All Programs" under "Start") so as to ensure that you have the most up-to-date version of iTunes.
