RE: (forte-users) Distributing library - What could preventmy li b fro

Hi Jean..
I remotely remember seeing this kind of a problem before. I think you can
start by cleaning your environment. You can do this by:
1) Exporting your environment definition from econsole or using escript. The
.edf file goes into the forte_root\envdist directory
2) bringing down the environment.
3) removing the .btd and.btx files of the environment in
forte_root\sysdata\envrepos
4) start the environment using bootstrap i.e using the -e option.
Hope that solves it for you..

Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
Anyway, thank you,
Chris

You have the answer. A class should set "Subclass Override" to TRUE (or ON)
if it wants any of its derived classes to override the behaviour.
If you want your subclass to be able set its Runtime properties
(Distributed, Shared, Transactional, Monitored), then turn ON "Subclass
override" in all the classes above in the hierarchy.

    Hello.
I've just created a service object, based on a new subclass. The new
subclass has distributed property set to allowed, and the other three set
    to
disallowed. These are set about four layers further up the inheritance
hierarchy, and have subclass override turned off.
When I try and run my app, I get the following error:

    Hi Jagadish,
I'm not trying to change it, it's at "Allowed" on all of my superclasses,
and I want it to be "Allowed" on the subclass too. If I remember correctly
there's some blurb in the manual somewhere that objects are smaller and/or

Anyway, apparently, according to other replies I've received, it's just a

    Kelsey,
We use model nodes exclusively. Occasionally, a
    client
node would crash and would be inaccessbile for two
hours but would still appear active under the model
node. After two hours the client could access the
environment again. My only option thus far has been
    to
bounce the environment but that can only be done
    after
work hours, which may not be convenient for the
    affected user.
Kamran Amin just wrote me to say that the two hour
delay is the result of the default socket timeout
setting on UNIX boxes. Perhaps reducing the socket
timeout from two hours to something more reasonable
would fix the problem without manipulating the
    environment configuration.
I am not sure how I would determine a good socket
timeout setting for my application. Does anyone have
any ideas? Is my assumption about reducing the
    socket
timeout to avoid manipulating the environment
configuration to remove the phantom nodes in a more
    timely fashion correct?

No and No. I just kind of "stumbled" upon this

opened the properties windows when it just all ofa

"Maybe, if none of the boxes are checked then the

    not referenced".
" ... Have you tried this technique when usingmodel
    nodes? ..."
No I haven't. So far our model nodes have beenwell
    behaved. If a member
was online the node was online, otherwise, if "no
one was home" then it was
off-line. Model nodes aren't real nodes; I viewthem
    as a sort of virtual
node. Only real nodes have ocassionally behaved
    goofy. I think what happens
is either the user's machine is improperlyshutdown
    or they just all of
sudden loose connection to the network. Exception
    handling was never Forte

    Pascal,
This is very inetresting. I have experienced the
    same
problem and have noted the mysterious two hourdelay
in getting the client node back up and running. I
thought it may have had something to do with the
keepalive settings, which seem to work otherwise.
Kelsey, have you reported this to Forte as a bugor

    this
technique when using model nodes? I will give your
    fix
of reconfiguring the node a try the next time I

perhaps it may not have the same effect.

The nodemanager of the phantom node was notproperly

because this node was running on NT and somebody
    simply shutdown the

Part of the shutdown process of a node, which
    you

Then Forte will mark it as offline, rather then

    Jean-Paul,
The ModelNode is a client node by definiton, no matter what properties you
change. I've previously asked for an enhancement to allow a
    model node to be a
server node, but I don't expect much to happen. To install
    server applications
to several nodes, you have to make sure that the node manager on
    each node is
active. There really is no built-in support for distributing
    applications in
mass to servers like there is for clients (using the model node feature).

    Hi all,
I am trying to establisch a JDBC connection to a MaxDB database (former SapDB).
    I have a win2k system with jdk 1.4.2_01 installed.
I have the JDBC connection working in the sense that i am able to execute SQL scripts by ant tasks,
so far i think that everything is properly configured.
Nevertheless, when i try to use the connection in my own class (a JUnit testcase), i get this message:
"ERROR! Shared library ioser12 could not be found."
The program then continues, and i get sql error messages that the user is still connected. I think these are followups from the first one - one testcase may be broken by this error, but the connection is not closed.
I searched the web to find what i could do against it. I found some forum discussions about this problem and hence i tried to set my path and classpath to locations where the isoser12.dll is located (runtime environment/bin), and finally copied it to the windows/system32 dir.
Nothing made this error disappear. I am still stuck with this one since two days.
Btw, the same testcases work well with other databases like oracle or db2.
Hence, i am calling to you for some ideas about this error.

    Dear Robinson,
It seems to be that you have 2 ways of solving the problem:
    1) restart forte after setting the environment variables
    2) write a little application which sets the required variables, using
    the task.part.OperatingSystem.SetEnv(name,value) method.
If you have to chage the variables rarely, then it`s easier to restart forte,
otherwise I would suggest to use the SetEnv function...

    Richard,
There is no way of changing the environment variable once the Node
Manager is up. You will have to shutdown the node manager and then restart
it to have the new environment variables take effect. Sorry, there is no
secret way of doing this that I know of.
But you can set the variables on you development machine and run you
application without distributing. This way the partition will be running in
your client machine and not the server.
Another way we have also got around this is by having a special
environment variable on the client side that opens a admin screen when you
run you application. This admin screen will allow you to change the
environment variables and then set them on the server partition. You will
have to do come coding on the server to make this happen but if you are
using a framework then it should be easy. We call this developer reconnect
facility. It only can be activated by the special client side environment
variable. I comes in very handy when we are development and want to change
the database on the server partition.
    Hope this help.

imported an album to my itunes library, but it won't sync with my ipod classic. I tried it with my husbands ipod also and the same problem. What could be the problem?

Thank you all for your replies. Here is what i ended up doing. I cannot afford any 3rd party software so i went to itunes and manually entered all my playlists. As I had indicated my purchased music was on my new computer just not the playlists  and I could not sync my ipod. After I rebuilt all my playlists I tried to restore my ipod to factory defaults/new. All of the steps called for in apple support and elsewhere were not available to me. I connected my ipod, went to my computer, right clicked my ipod, and formatted. That wiped my ipod so when I connected to itunes it then gave me a restore option. I did the restore and all is good in the empire again. I can now buy new music and sync my ipod so I am a happy camper.
    Thanks to all.

Problem with Photoshop Express IOS 8.02 - I recently installed IOS 8.02 on my iPad Air and Photoshop Express cannot access my full library of images. Also, when opening the app, I'm not given the option of selecting "Open from Adobe Revel", "Take a Picture" or "Open from Camera Roll".......I am taken directly to a small selection of images. The only images that show up are the saved photos previously adjusted through Photoshop Express. I also updated my iPhone 5s with IOS 8.02 and Photoshop Express works perfectly on the iPhone with all images in my library visible.
    What could be the problem?

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

    Hi,
We have recently upgraded to 30L4, and Forte say that this fixes a
corruption problem with the repository to do with large projects.
This patch also fixes the problem with AfterValueChange event on
    FillInFields.
Upgrading was simple for us as we don't use Express.
R4 is still next year some time as far as I know.

I know system management for SynerJ is more complicated. I just got the
1.4.1 version of SynerJ and it has completely changed on how partitioning
work regarding the EJBs. Just more to learn to do the same thing we did in
    Forte.

    Hi,
I guess many people is interested in finding out how different it is
    between SynerJ and TOOL.
    Here is something to share.
    1. Forte is posting all manuels ( SynerJ, Fusion, Conductor ) on the Web.
You just need a customer login in.  Here is a good start.
    2. java.sun.com now has a beta document J2EE APM which explain the
architectual of J2EE.  The document how and when you will use JSP,
Servlet, EJB & Java Bean etc.  You will find it along with the J2EE beta
    free download.
My feeling is: on system management level, SynerJ is more or less similiar
with what we have now ( maybe they jus rewriting everything in Java ).
However, on development and design level, there is quite a large
    difference.  Nevertheless, it's exciting.
    Regards,
    Peter Sham.

I thank you all so much for taking the time to help, I really want to get AECS5 running...I did try to install after doing the recommended items Adobe suggests for Exit Codes 6 and 7, including turning off many startups...
