question ...
Folxs
I have a new EV6 Alpha available and want to run Forte on it.
OpenVMS v7.1-2 is a supported OS for Forte v30G2 and 30L2 I think.
OpenVMS v7.1-2 is a supported OS for the new EV6 Alpha chipset.
Will Forte v30G2 or 30L2 work on this hardware?
Is it supported on this platform?
When will it be supported on the EV6 chip set and what version of Forte do
I
need?
Thanks,
Dirk
PS: Anyone out here using the EV6 and Forte?

I'm almost sure that Sun's DS (5.x or 6.x) has never been offered for Itanium (for HP-UX or any other OS).
Someone from Sun may have a better answer.
Of course, the download list here will give you a good answer too:

  • Re: (forte-users) Fusion for the VAR

    Hi,
It is a good idea. In fact, I think that how Forte is
going to integrate her own suite of app. too. ( I
kind of recall that there is a speech on this topic in
    Forum ).
However, as Forte will most likely goes toward Java, I
would suggest that you take into account the
abstraction on Conductor ( which is frankly an event
broker ) and Fusion ( which handles the XML mapping )
too. In doing so, you can save guard your investment
on the design without binding tightly with FORTE and I
bet there will be tons of event broker or XML parser
    in the future market.
On the other hand, this integration by Fusion would be
perfect for a perfect world. But, in this imperfect
world, it would be hard to do cross-checking between
    apps in Fusion.
In the old days, we repulicate data or do file
transfer to integrate apps. In doing so, we also
    build-in all the cross-checking procedure / reports.
In the case of Fusion, is there such a safety net to
save guard data integrity. Can I identify a lost
event and trace back to find out whether it is a app.
    problem or Conductor problem?
I think the customer would surely like to know.
    Regards,
    Peter Sham.

Fusion has been positioned as an EAI tool, something
    at which it appears to
be very, very good, but in recent months I have been
    thinking about its
possible role as an architectural tool for those of
    us who build large,
    multi-application suites of applications. Having
    been tossing some of
these ideas around the halls at Harrison Street, I
    thought I would try some
of them on this audience as well to see what
    reaction I got.
This concept is based on the context that one has
    multiple interacting
applications which are loosely coupled, or at least
    which should be. E.g.,
an order processing application may need credit
    status information from an
accounts receivable application and may generate
    invoices which then need
to be tracked for payment by that application, but
    the connections between
these applications are specific, limited, and
    readily enumerable. Mind
you, people don't always build their applications so
    cleanly modularized,
but I think we all agree these days that they should
    be.
The idea is to provide each application with a
    specific API, which it may
currently have only indirectly. I.e., today one
    might simply have calls
directly from one application to another, but one
    would gather all these
links together and define an API, probably in XML
    which covered all of the
    necessary communciations between applications.
These would then be used to
build a Fusion Proxy and one would build the
    necessary Conductor processes
to handle the communications which previously might
    have been made directly
between applications. There is probably some
    performance loss in this
process, but many of these interfaces are not
    performance intensive and my
bet is that if the whole Fusion concept has adequate
    performance for the
purposes for which it is being primarily marketed,
    then it has the
performance for this sort of usage.
One would get several advantages from this
    structure:
    1) Interapplication communications would be handled
    by a Conductor process
and thus be much more readily configurable than any
    hard-coded link.
    2) One would gain the ability to unplug one's own
    application and plug in a
customer's application when the customer insisted on
    using something else.
    3) The discipline of working in this structure would
    insure clean boundries
between applications, which is not only sound
    design, but promotes the
    flexibility of the overall suite.
    4) Those with untransitioned legacy applications
    would have a framework
that would allow a mixture of new and old
    applications to co-exist, thus
providing them with a transition strategy until the
    full product line was
    converted.
Note that I am assuming that one would want to build
    the individual
applications so that they also used Conductor for
    managing their business
process logic, but that seems to me to be an
    independent decision from this
    one.
    So, comments?
    Any downsides?
Any added benefits I haven't covered here?
Are there many out there that would benefit from
this approach or just a few?
Is anyone doing anything like this?
Note that the one downside I have found so far is
    that Fusion licensing,
independent of the Conductor aspect, is based on the
    number of proxies and
so someone like CI who has 15 or more applications
    in a typical site is
going to have 15 or more proxies. My bet is that
    this can be handled once
it is clear that use of Fusion by a VAR for
    integrating own applications is
not the same use as by an end-user integrating
    arbitrary multiple applications.

I think you can use 'OperatingSystem' service agent & check 'AllocatedPages'
instrument to see how many memory pages are used. You can compare that with
your maximum allocation & send alerts depending on that. Thanks.

  • Want multi user support for xperia c3

Eventhough its one of the main highlights of lolipop Sony ignore that feature with ease. Please provide that feature . .please sony

I believe that Sony should know about the camera problems. That is why the rolling process is only for India and Taiwan until now. I also want to have multi user support. However, I don't think it can be achieved due to the 1G ram limitation! Xperifirm and flashtool are good for the user becuase I can roll back to kitkat anytime when I get problem. However, someone may not know how to use it. It makes them feel frustrated! I just hope Sony can fix the camera bugs ASAP. For me, the main function of a smart phone is to take photo, phone call, whatsapp and browse the webpage. Please make sure user can be happy with this BASIC function! Lollipop or Kitkat?? I don't care. Anyways, thanks for the update. I know it take time. Thank you again!!

  • Feature request: Add left-handed users support for Show Pointer

Show Pointer is a very useful tool for precise movements and operations on the touch display.
However, the way it currently works is optimized for right-handed people (as the button is on the left side and you maneuver with the right hand.
As there are very many left-handed people among creative individuals, I'm kindly asking to add left-hand support to Show Pointer, which would effectively mirror the user interface of the tool (button on the right side).
This could be configured in the Photoshop Touch setting panel.
I would really appreciate someone from Adobe reading this and adding this to the product backlog. Thanks.

If I'm ever asked to give input, I'll be sure to +1 for you.

  • IPad needs multi user support NOW

I believe Apple will sell more iPad if they enable multi user support for these devices.
Since it's currently a single user device tied to your iTune and MobileMe/Exchange, it's not something you could share between family. I thought buying an extra iPad for the wife would solve the problem, but I was wrong. Now we have two iPads, it's still not working out very well. We'd leave them in different places of the house, and we'd still grab the nearest iPad regardless who it belongs to.
Had Apple made the iPad multi user, I would more likely to buy one or two more. One for the kitchen, one for the living room, one for the family room and one for the master bathroom. That would make life so much easier as I don't have to take my iPad with me. I could pick one up wherever I am.
Now without multi user support, I'd have to buy a total of 8 iPads and my house would look ridicules with two ipads in each room. Suppose if I have a few teenage kids in the house, I'd have to buy 16 or 20 iPads. That's just mad!
So instead, I wait. For now I'll just have to cope with 2 iPads, one of which configured for the wife. 50% of the time, I use an iPad with my wife's emails, music and books on it.

Tell Apple - http://apple.com/feedback. We're just users like you.
It seems so far that Apple has had absolutely no problem selling iPads at this point.

  • RE: (forte-users) Reporting tools/components for ForteApplications?

    Hi Robert,
A good place to start when it comes to reporting is Forte Consulting. They
have developed a tool called ReportKit, which is ActiveX integration with
Seagate Software's Crystal Reports tool. Crystal is not really a three-tier
tool (although, your Forte Consultant can probably set it up to mimic a
three-tier tool), but it is a quick, easy way to get quality reports from
your existing Forte applications. If you're interested, give your Forte
Sales Rep (or, better still, your Forte Regional Consulting Director) a
call. They can discuss pricing and scheduling. I've done several
integration projects with Crystal, and I highly recommend ReportKit for
small- to medium-sized reporting requirements. As for costs, I don't recall
how much CrystalReports runs, but I think there are developer licenses and
    runtime licenses.
FYI, the actual integration of ReportKit is pretty quick. The more
time-consuming piece of any report tool integration is the design and
implementation of the reports to be used.
    I hope this helps.

    Hi all,
We are looking for what is currently in the marketplace to enhance the
    reporting
capabilities of Forte. Ideally, we are looking for component libraries that
    we
could import into our repository. Do these exist?
Currently, I have found six reporting tools that are out there. The
    tools
are Actuate, Crystal Reports, Report Workshop from Indus Consultancy
Services, Brio Technologies (SQR) VisualBRIO, Visual CyberQuery from
Cyberscience Corp., and Beacon from Brahma Software Solutions FORTify
Components. Are there any others for Forte?
If anyone is currently using one of these Reporting Tools for Forte or
    any
others, could you give me any indications as to the costs, training, type
    of
application using the Reporting tool, would you recommend using the
    product
again, does it use wrappering or API, or is it a component based tool, and
    any
other relevant information on the product?

    Hi,
Unfortunatly, Forte does not provide SMTP and POP3 protocoles.
But, you can use External connections to do it if you need.
You can find a simple SMTP send mail sample code on
http://perso.club-internet.fr/dnguyen/ . The receive should be as easy as the send.
For MIME base 64 encoding and decoding, it should last one or two weeks of coding
    (if you need optimization).
One advantage of coding this in Tool directly is the portability.
In your case, on NT, you could also interface with MAPI using for instance the
    ActiveX interface.
By that way, you will already have SMTP, POP3 and MIME.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi,
Our Forte development team are currently investigating how we can add internet
mail capabilities to a Forte application. Our application needs to send/receive
mails from a mail server in an NT environment. Does forte provide SMTP and POP3
protocol support (libraries) so that we can use external connection class to
connect to the server and send/ receive mails or do we have to use third party
    controls ?.
Any help regarding code examples or third party solutions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Jonathan,
Contact BEA sales, I believe that version 7.0 supports the seamless
replacement of security providers and that several major security vendors
have developed providers that are or will shortly be commercially available.

First off, this may seem redundant.
Our company is looking for security products that can be used to
secure the Weblogic Application server. We are currently upgrading
from 5.1 to 7.0 and left to my own devices I would use the Security
    that is built into weblogic.
However in order to do the due diligence I need to provide other
options i.e. get a product that can be configured to provide security
for the Application server. An additional nice to have feature would
be security for resources outside of Weblogic.
My primary request is for any websites that give a comparison of
such tools. but if anyone has experience using a security tool with
weblogic, it would be great to hear this. If anyone has used an
external LDAP server with Weblogic 7.0 that would be interesting also.

  • Multi-language support for user-specified text strings used in the forms

multi-language support for user-specified text strings used in the forms
Instead of creating multiple forms, 1 in each different language, for the same service, is there any workaround?

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. For the two langugages, such as Spanish/English, you can create a single catalog with both of them. Once you get to more than two languages, the catalog would get unweildy and is therefore not suggested.

  • Lack of Migration support for 6.0 & 10g users

    Hi,
One of the 1st things we wanted to do with the beta as an existing customer is to validate migrating a project from our existing Production version (6.0) to 11g.
While the import appears to work, opening any imported diagram throws an XML parsing exception.
After raising an SR, it turns out that migrating from previous versions is unsupported until 11gR2.
This puts me in a tricky spot as one of the main business drivers to adopt 11g is product upgrade.
I am very surprised to see existing customers nt being catered for in the new version, as running multiple versions in Prod is not a realistic option for most.
Backwards compatability is therefore very important to the existing user base!
    So, questions for Oracle:
    1. Can you please reconsider the lack of migration support for R1?
    2. if this feature cannot be working for R1, what is the expected release date (even if its just a quarter) for R2?
    3. To save my time, is there a list of what other features are not for going to be available in the Beta / R1 release?
As a Beta tester my time is precious, and I need to know what I can expect to work, rather than report issues only to then find out that its not supported...
    Thanks,
    Ian
    .

    Hi Ian,
You are right in the sense that upgrade will be supported in BPM 11gR2. More specifically, the upgrade will support OBPM 10gR3 to BPM 11gR2. Customers in older versions of OBPM and ALBPM will need to upgrade to OBPM 10gR3 before attempting the upgrade to BPM 11gR2. To upgrade to OBPM 10gR3, there are a series of pointers in our documentation on how to do this. I can explicitly provide links if you are interested in this mandatory upgrade before moving to BPM 11g.
As per the reason for not being able to support upgrade in this first version of BPM 11g, it simply boils down to time to create the new unified BPM platform which in itself is a major undertake from an Engineering perspective. Once the foundation is complete (this is the objective for BPM 11gR1), we will start working on completing the delta to upgrade OBPM 10gR3 projects to BPM 11gR2 as best as possible. There is a document we have been sharing with customers with Best Practices for implementing OBPM 10gR3 projects with idea of an upgrade to BPM 11g. We do have significant knowledge on some pieces that we will be able to automate from a migration perspective and some others that will be hard to upgrade. If you are interested in this document, we can provide this to you.
If you have any other questions, please let me know. I would be more than happy to assist with migration questions with the most up to date knowledge I have on this front.

  • EXP-00105: parameter CONSISTENT is not supported for this user

    Hi,
I have use Oracle 10g on unix platform
i have export is taken from following command
    exp \'/ as sysdba\' file=t.dmp full=y buffer=10485760 log=0101.log CONSISTENT=y statistics=none
export is sucessfull but one warning
EXP-00105: parameter CONSISTENT is not supported for this user
if i have use without CONSISTENT parameter then export is successfull ,
    why EXP-00105 error occured ?

    As per Oracle Error Notes:
EXP-00105: parameter string is not supported for this user
Cause: The user attempted to specify either CONSISTENT or OBJECT_CONSISTENT when connected as sysdba.
Action: If a consistent export is needed, then connect as another user.
Looks likE the SYS user cannot do a transaction level consistent read (read-only transaction). You could have performed this by SYSTEM user or any DBA priviliged user to to take the complete export of your DB.
Anyway, for more information the error "EXP-00105", please take a look into the same question on another Oracle related forums.
