Re: FREETALK Connect•Me .problems

I'm having problems with my Connect Me device also. For some reason, I can't make calls from my phones connectect to it and I can't receive any calls through it. Every time a friend calls my Skype number attached to the Connect Me, it forwards directly to our cell phones, as if the Connect Me has malfunctioned or no longer is working. Please assist.

Greetings, kreggsmith,
I referred your enquiry to the vendor for assistance.
Best regards,
Elaine

  • Ringer equivalence number for Freetalk Connect Me ...

    Hi,
I have an old Western Electric 2500 touch tone phone that i want to use with Skype. I am hoping it will work with the Freetalk Connect Me device. I have tried with with the Sprint Home Connect 2 device on Ting and everything worked except the phone did not ring on incoming calls. I believe this is related to something called the Ringer Equivalence Number, which represents the amount of electrical load on the telephone ringer line.
My question is: does the Freetalk Connect Me device have enough REN to ring my old Western Electric 2500 phone? It needs at least 1 REN to ring, but apparently most VOIP adapters generate little to no electrical load on the ringer.
    Thanks!

I own a Free Talk Connect Me, but I don't have one of those old phones lying around.  I do have several electric ringer phones, one being a non-powered one.  My Connect Me device is listed as 0.0B REN.  The problem with that value is that refers to the REN load and does not seem to me to reference it's own ringer or REN "supply".   I connected all the phones I had in my house and they all still successfully rang.  The non-powered phone "claimed" to have a REN of 1.3.  I believe the phone you have tends to generate a variable load of 1-1.5 REN. The default the phone company supplies is 5 REN.  From checking similar devices, I believe the supply is more than lilkly around 2-3 REN.  I read a test someone did to measure the current during a ring on a classic phone and it averaged at around 8 mA (A/C).  The cominbed current in my tests of the RX line in series never exceeded 5 mA (2-5 range).  So even if it can't be used as a direct comparison, current is flowing and adjusts depending on the load introduced into the system.  There are other variables that can affect the ringing, so it's hard to say what a device like his may be lacking (waveform issues, frequency response (which should be better since it's a class B device, and continous voltage (60-90 A/C EU/US standards).  If you find VOIP devices to be intermttent in ringing a device with a high load, the only alernative I can think of (besides using a different phone) is implementing the use of a REN booster to see if it solves your problem.  With that in-line you may be able to drive several of those type phones.
If you want a more definitve answer you might want to contact Free Talk directly to see if they have a better spec sheet/white paper that answers your question.  I can only provide you with my best educated guess.

  • The FREETALK Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter for Sky...

    Hi all,
I am seriously considering dropping my landline since I mostly if not only uses my iPhone as my primary device for calls. The problem I have is an alarm system is connected to my land line and requires a way to call the alarm centre in case of an emergency.
I talk to my alarm service provider for an alternative. They already have the cellular option, but it adds $12/m which is not a big saving... They are working on finding an IP/Internet solution, but it will be also a $4/m.
I was wondering if I could use the FREETALK Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter for Skype as a solution. From a computer I can call any 1-800 numbers for free, and I really suspect that the alarm centre is a toll free number too. So in theory it could work.
Can anyone share their experience with the device and suggest if my solution can work or not?
    Thanks

I use that adapter in my house, it works just as a normal landline would.  There is a slightly longer predial delay when initiating a call (approx 3 second Skype dialing noise), beyond that no real difference.  If the box doesn't lock up, or your Internet doesn't go down it should be rather reliable as a replacement.  Those are worst-case scenarios and I generally don't find myself having to do anything to maintain it.  In any case I have it connected to a power surge strip like I do the rest of my equipment.  Should I need to reset it, I just toggle the switch.

  • Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.0 - Connection Pool Problem

    Hi,
Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.0 is having connection pool problem. The no. of TCP connections to Oracle database keep increasing untill the server's session run out of limit. My application created connections, use them, close them, and dispose them properly. When using previous Oracle.DataAccess 2.111.6.20, the no. of TCP connections do not increase.
My database connection string has "Min Pool Size = 3 and Max Pool Size = 150".
With 2.111.6.20 version, TCP connection stays at 3.
With 2.112.1.0, TCP connection keep increasing for every 5 minutes. I've tried to disable Self Tuning, but still can't prevent the connections from increasing.
Later today, I downloaded Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.2 (it comes with ODAC 11.2.0.1.2) and test again, the problem is resolved... no more connection increases... but.... it is only for 32 bit Windows.
Unfortunately, there is no Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.2 for 64 bit Windows Server 2008.
May I know how can i resolve this problem on 64bit Window installed with Oracle 11g R2 client, which comes with Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.0, which has serious problems...(according to this 11.2 ODP.NET causing test runner failures )
Many thanks for your time and answers!

    Hi,
The only thing that jumps out within your problem description is that connections are being increased every 5 minutes. Are you sure its every 5 minutes and not 3 minutes which is the timing interval used by the Connection Pool facility to perform connection pool maintenance. If this occurs even when the application is idle then you could be running into the following known issue filed against 11.2.0.1.0 and fixed in 11.2.0.1.2.
Bug 9711600 - CONNECTIONS INCREASE BEYOND MAX POOL SIZE EVERY 3 MINUTE
This is specific to using the option CommandBehavior.CloseConnection when calling execute reader. Are you using this option and then also closing the connection in code before the datareader object is closed, if so you may be hitting this bug. You can also generate an ODP trace at level 15 of the behavior and if you see negative pool counts, that is also a diagnostic that points to this bug.
This is fixed in 11.2.0.1.0 Patch 3 or later for x64. If you have support, I recommend you open a service request to verify if this is your issue and if a patch set may help you.
    Regards
    Jenny B.

  • Phone attached to Freetalk Connect Me device rings...

Is my device faulty? I purchased a FreeTalk Connect Me about two months ago. No matter what phone I attach, it rings for no reason every 10 minutes or so. This behavior didn't seem to occur when I was only using it as a Skype phone, but apparently may have started when I added my "landline" -- which is voip. Is there an incompatibility? If so, this isn't mentioned anywhere in any documentation.

  • FREETALK Connect-Me phone adapter discontinued

I noticed today that the FREETALK Connect-Me phone adapter has been discontinued. Is there a replacement solution? My device has been working great for several years and I use it all the time for connecting my home phones to skype.

That's always a possibility.  However I'm not aware of it being discontinued by the manufacturer.  You can generally buy it from the Freetalk site (http://freetalk.me/). Occasionally I've seen it disappear from the site (like now) when they are out of stock, then reappear again.  It's also available on Amazon and Ebay.
Some people have used the Soundwin SP110, but there have been a lot of stability/quality issues with that device.  http://www.soundwin.com/style/frame/templates3a/product_detail.asp?lang=2&customer_id=824&name_id=40...

  • FREETALK Connect•Me

using FREETALK® Connect•Me with skype offer, I have a telephon number with skype and no landline connection (only broadband).
    My question is this:
Can I receive call (to my skype number) and call without landline connection only using skype account with the number I have with skype by the broadband connection only??
    Many thanks
    Nicola.

    Hi Nicola,
You do not need a landline connection.  You would dial out on your telephone to make your calls through your Skype account and callers may call you Skype to Skype, or dial your Skype telephone number.
    Happy Skyping!

  • Freetalk Connect me firmware not upgrading

My Freetalk connect me firmware is not upgrading. I contacted the ebuy and they asked me various details such as:
    - What is your order number so that we may identify your order? - What color is the light on the device? Is it steady or flashing? - What is the Firmware version you currently have? - What operating system do you have? - What is the location you are connecting it from? - Who is your Internet service provider? DSL or Cable Modem? - What make and model is your modem/router? - Do you have any additional networking devices on your network? (WIFI access points, switches and similar). If so please list them all.
I gave them all the information and after that they are just not replying back. I am stuck with version 1.0.1 updated on 8/12/2011 without any caller id and lot of static. I want to return it back but don't know what to do. It's definitely not brininging good name for Skype. I would rather prefer vonage who are atleast responsive.
    Can someone please help me?
The device is connected from more than 2 weeks and I have windows 7 and Mac Lion. I think Skype should intervene in this matter.

Why doesn't freetalk provide a forced upgrade option so that user can manually update the firmware..The firmware has still not updated. I have provided all the information they eBuy has asked and also unhooked, hooked back the device. Am I still missing anything?

  • 10.5.2 failed to fix wireless connection dropping problem

10.5.2 did not fix wireless connection dropping problem. I lose wireless connection whenever my MBP restarts or wake up from sleep in the building where I am and have to retype password about 10 times a day. I had not had this problem when I used Tiger. Everyone who has upgraded to Leopard or has it installed on their Mac is experiencing the same problem. Is there any solution or trick to resolve this problem? Thank you.

    Amularya,
Please read the post I made in this thread earlier. No less than a dozen solutions are offered in the link I provided for wireless issues. Troubleshooting wireless issues requires individual attention because of the plethora of issues which can't be tested for. So please start a new topic thread here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1225&start=0
So you can get a wider audience, and won't confuse the original poster with solutions that don't apply to them.
There literally hundreds of different WiFi adapters.
Dozens of different virus and firewall combinations.
Possibilities for damaged WiFi cards and routers, as well as routers whose firmware is not to spec with the latest wireless standard.
To top it off, bad RAM, hard disk being too full, and bad preference, cache or or logfiles can make various aspects of the operating system misbehave, and/or even the directory leading to those files.
Until each person starts their own thread looking for solution individually, chances are they won't find one. Yes, 10.5.2 addresses WiFi for some people. Obviously it doesn't for everyone. The point is, there are some people, like myself who have never had a WiFi issue either with Intel or PowerPC Macs that they couldn't resolve without a little bit of troubleshooting. I'm happy to help you walk through it, but only if you start your own thread asking for help.

  • Freetalk Connect Me - Suddenly Stopped Working

I have the Skype service with a FreeTalk Connect Me box that we use as our landline phone. This has been in service for around 6 months without a hiccup, until recently. About a week ago it out of the blue would not make nor receive any calls. When you try to dial out it I have a dial tone, you hear it enter the numbers, and it makes the little doot-doot-doot-da-doot-doot jingle (my apologies for trying to type that phonetically) but does not ring. When trying to call the number it may ring a time or two and then says in a British voice (paraphrasing) "the Skype subscriber you have called is not available" and sends it to Skype voicemail.
The light on the front of the box is blinking green as it is supposed to but nothing works. I have tried unplugging the box for an extended period of time but that has been my only attempt at diagnostic repair. I need this phone to be operational. Please help.
    Thank you in advance,
    Brian

When mine does that, a power cylce fixes it.  In your case, I would suggest power cycling your router as well.  The device is pretty much plug-n-play so you are limited in what you can do.  You can also try to reset the device to factory default by either:
    1.  Browsing to the IP address of the unit.  You can get this off your router or by browsing your network places and double clicking the the Freetalk device icon.
Once there, log on, then click "System Settings" - "Factory Reset" (located at the bottom of the page)
    2.  Using the reset button on the unit itself.  Excerpt from the Freetalk website:
"To initiate factory reset, use a paper clip to press and hold the reset button on the device for as long as it takes for the LED to go off, and keep on holding it until the LED turns red again, then release. When this is done, give the device some time to load the software. The LED will start flashing green indicating you can access the configuration interface again."
If done properly, you will have to complete the same Setup Wizard you ran when you first installed it.
