Re: full size USB keyboard for Tecra A8

Looking for a full size USB keyboard for a Tecra A8 with keyboard layout more like desktop; del key next to \ and larger cap locks key farther away from A key. Other layout issues not a problem.

Hello
You can use every keyboard. Go to a local computer dealer and have a look on the different keyboards.
There are keyboards with a lot of multimedia keys, normal keyboards, small, ergonomic keyboards and so far.
By the way I use Logitech keyboards for years and never had problems with it.

  • Apple full size USB keyboard - ESC, tilde, tab, & caps lock not working

I was logging into my email account yesterday & went to tab from the username to password fields & the tab key is all of a sudden not working. It was working the day before, but not now. Upon further checking, the ESC, tilde, & caps lock buttons don't work either. So ESC, tilde, tab, & caps lock are all not working now. (???)
I have the white w/ clear base full size USB wired keyboard. When I unplug & plug back in the USB cord or shut down & restart, the light on the caps lock key does come on as it should.
I have tried many of the various fixes (Universal Access, etc) that I've found online, but to no avail.
No spills or damage & I can't imagine that they all 4 would work one day & then be too dirty to just not work the next.
    Any ideas to resolve???

All on the left side of the keyboard - might be a circuit board issue. But try deep cleaning that side of the keyboard. I have used a vacuum cleaner with a sock over the nozzle. (Keys do sometimes come loose - the sock keeps them from being sucked into the vacuum.)

  • Apple Full-Sized USB Keyboard not working

I have this very specific problem...
I have a late 2012 27" iMac, to which I have connected a full-sized Apple USB Keyboard and an apple wired mouse plugged into one of the keyboard's USB ports.
Just now, I upgraded the RAM (from 8 GB to 32 GB).  Upon re-booting, neither the mouse nor keyboard worked.  I ended up plugging in the wired keyboard into a USB hub I had attached and voila, the mouse and keyboard worked.  I rebooted with the keyboard plugged into the hub, and everything worked.  I then turned off the Mac, put the keyboard USB into the iMac again to see if this would work and it did not.  None of the four USB outlets will let my keyboard work.   THe mouse works when plugged into the iMac directly, or the USB hub, but the keyboard will ONLY work when plugged into the USB hub.  I tested all four USB ports in the iMac and they all work.
I have a mac mini I use as a HTPC, and the keyboard works great on that computer.
The only combination that does not work is the wired Apple keyboard when plugged directly into the iMac.
    HELP!!

I have exactly the same issue -- mouse works when plugged into the mac, usb full size mac keyboard ONLY works when plugged into my external hub. The hub doesn't have its own power supply.
Running OS X 10.8.5 12F45 on 2.5 GHz i5 with 8GB 1600 RAM. No system or software changes recently. The keyboard just randomly stopped working this morning. Also, the keyboard works fine plugged into any of the usb ports on another macbook pro.
I rebooted the system and followed the steps here https://discussions.apple.com/message/24100699#24100699, including going into About This Mac -> System Report. In the system report, if the keyboard is plugged directly into the macbook pro, the keyboard is simply not shown in the USB Device Tree. However, the moment I plug it into the hub and rebuild the report, I can see Keyboard Hub -> Apple Keyboard in the USB Device Tree. I have tried combinations of hub, mouse, and keyboard, including trying the keyboard with other devices unplugged.
Help? Is this a known mac bug? Thanks

  • French USB keyboard for writing email??

I was wondering how i could get a usb french (or french-canadian) keyboard for my macbook. I often write emails to people in france, but i hate using the keyboard.
I tried to go to the canadian us store to buy the keyboard, but then when i tried to order it, it said it could only be shipped anywhere within canada.
Is there any way i can get a french keyboard in the us??

    Canadian-French, Canadian-English. Yeah
If u live in canada i think apple gives u a choice.
France-French and Canadian-French have keys like AZ and QW in different places. You might want to make sure you get the one you are used to.
I just need all the accent keys.
Of course you can make all the accents on the standard US layout as well, via Option/alt key shortcuts (e.g. é is made by Option/Alt + e, then e). Or you can install a US International layout.

  • Full size apple keyboard, Macbook Air and Thunderbolt problem

Here's the scenario.  Come to work, plug in Macbook air to thunderbolt display.  Hit keyboard to wake it up.  Nothing.  Click magic mouse and awake comes Macbook and thunderbolt display.  Click on user and go to type password in... no keyboard.  Happens every 2-3 days sometimes 2-3 days in a row.  Have to open Macbook Air, use Macbook keyboard to log in.  Hit restart, let it boot and then viola the usb keyboard works.
I have searched Thunderbolt firmware updates and see the previous cases of people having trouble and pram zapping and blah blah blah. I can't seem to find instructions on firmware update anywhere for thunderbolt display.  Is there no correct fix for this yet?  I'm using all Apple products.  It should just work.
    Thanks in advance.

Through experimentation, I've found that the audio works fine (i.e., no static) if I remove all USB connections from the Thunderbolt Display.
If I plug my Apple keyboard into a USB port on the Thunderbolt Display, and I let the audio play for a few minutes, the audio begins to degrade with static.
As a short-term workaround, I've removed all USB connections from the Thunderbolt Display. When I connect the MacBook Air to the display, I plug a USB hub into the MacBook Air (not into the Thunderbolt Display). I plug the Apple keyboard (etc.) into the USB hub. With this configuration, the audio works fine.
Of course, I do want to be able to use the USB ports on the Thunderbolt Display, so this is a short-term workaround at best.

  • Suggestions for MIDI USB keyboard

    please help me...

The Axiom is actually my favorite M-Audio controller, so I second that vote! While I'm a keyboardist and appreciate well-implemented fully-weighted keys (and real lives pianos!), I much prefer M-Audio's semi-weighted keys in their Axiom line to their fully-weighted controllers which are a little gluey and difficult to play.
So I second the vote for the Axiom.
However, I prefer the larger Axiom models (the 61, actually), but would recommend the middle sized Axiom 49 even if you are a one hand player. I've found that given the choice, one hand players typically prefer the larger keyboard even if only using one hand on it at a time. It just feels better to have room to plop your other hand on the keyboard, even if you don't.
That having been said, the 25 note keyboard might be perfect for the way some people work, and is obviously far more mobile and easier to accommodate on a single desk.

  • Macbook Pro Retina (15") can't connect to wireless mouse and external USB keyboard

    Hi All,
I got my new MacBook Pro Retina (15 inch) about 3 weeks ago. It works fine. I got a 30" Dell screen that I am using via thunderbolt/usb adapter. Also, I am using a thunderbolt ethernet adapter. Both adapters work fine without any problems.
I have an apple usb keyboard connected to the USB hub of the screen, as well as my iphone cable. It is a regular, full size apple keyboard. In addition to this, I have a logitech nano connected directly to the right usb port of the macbook pro.
This setup was working well until a few days ago. I lost connectivity with my mouse. Initially, I thought the batteries are empty. After replacing them, I still had no connection (again, the usb receiver is *directly* connected to the macbook).
I changed a few cables here and there and noticed that I can get either the keyboard to work or the mouse but not both at the same time. A reboot did not help.
Did anybody encounter such a strange problem already? If so, what could I possibly do?
    Thank You,
    --Martin

    Hello nikkig00,
It is certainly difficult to use the computer if your wireless keyboard and mouse do not connect.  I found a few resources I recommend for this issue.
I recommend reviewing this article first:
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3048
If the issue persists, I recommend reviewing the section titled "Top troubleshooting tips" in the article below.  Step 9 specifically stands out to me for the issue you described:
    9. Restart your computer
Sometimes a simple restart of your Mac is all it takes to get things running smoothly again. You may also want to try resetting your computer's PRAM and NVRAM.

  • IBM USB Keyboard with Ultranav - part works part doesn't

i have an IBM usb keyboard 02R0400 with built in touchpad and ultranav.
i am running a brand new 2month old Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with Windows Vista x64 and the last time I tried to conquer this problem I messed up my mouse drivers so bad I had to do a fresh reinstall of the OS.  The machine is running so much better as a result of rebuilding from scratch so no worries but suffice it to say I don't want to go through that again.
    CONTEXT:
    - using thinkpad on a port replicator.  have the US keyboard on the desk with my USB external mouse and second screen.  nothing too tricky about the setup.  windows vista x64.  no other msft or logitech mouse software is installed - just msft vista doing it's auto install thing.
    SYMPTOM:
    - when i plug in USB keyboard it is recognized and the keys and the touchpad work but the ultrnav trackpoint does not which is really irritating as I like to use it and don't like the touchpad at all.
    - given i am not currently able to find a vista driver on the Lenovo site I am a little confused.  I don't really want to install driver software for XP/2000 given my unpleasant mouse driver corruption experience earlier and would like to run this install as lean as possible.
    - the OS is clearly trying to install the ultranav but failing as it shows just an "unknown device" under mice and pointing devices in the device manager.
    - also, when i go to the mouse control panel in the OS it's showing two ultranav tabs, one for the laptop and one for the keyboard but the keyboard one is not functioning and is greyed out as in it's inactive and I can't configure it
    KEY QUESTIONS:
    - How do i untangle this driver mess? And get the right driver installed so that I can get the trackpoint working on the USB keyboard without messing up my laptop ultranav trackpoint?  Key here is that I don't want to mess up the drivers so that when I detach my laptop from the port replicator the keyboard and mouse pointer on the laptop don't work which is what happened last time?  Should I just run the XP/2000 installation software for the keyboard or will that possibly screw up my vista OS - don't want that?!
    BEST GUESS:
    - What's so odd about this is that I have used external USB IBM/Lenovo keyboard like this for years and this is the first time I have ever seen an OS get confused and create two ultranav tabs on the mouse control panel so I am thinking this is a vista x64 issue?
Thanks for any thoughts on how to further diagnose and pinpoint the problem here or for suggestions on the proper workaround as this sure is annoying and seems like it should not be happening -- it's just a simple USB keyboard for god's sake! ;-)
    /Josh

    Saw this post today.
Same problem here. What worked for me is the latest ultranav driver.
I installed the latest ultranav driver from lenovo.com after trying a lot of stuff just as a last resort.
    Voila! everything works now.
Hope this helps if you have not already found the solution
    regards,

  • What keyboard for a 14-inch G4?

I have a 14-inch iBook G4, 1.33 GHz. It is missing the "L" keycap and the "nub" underneath it. Make typing most anything a challenge! I thought I would try getting a USB keyboard for it, and looked on Ebay. How can I tell which keyboards (new or used) will work with my iBook? Portability is not an issue, since the screen is cracked, and I have it attached to a monitor on my desk.

    Hey leafbyniggle,
How can I tell which keyboards (new or used) will work with my iBook?
Any of the older USB Mac keyboards will work with your iBook. Like any for the iMac CRTs, the white Pro keyboard. The new thin Aluminum one would be the only one I can think of off the top of my head that has had issues about working. Don't remember the exact post.

  • Hebrew / English Keyboard for 700 MHz eMac

Does anyone know of a Hebrew English USB Keyboard for a 700 MHz eMac either made for a PC or Mac? If it's for a PC how do I get an ⌘ key besides using a decal?

Have you tried a Google search on Hebrew USB keyboard? You should find a number of sites, including this:

  • Help with the Korg nano key usb keyboard!

I recently bought the Kord Nano Key usb keyboard for the purpose of triggering drum sounds and sounds from the library. Will this keyboard do this?
I have very limited time with which to read manuals and experiment. Could anyone just tell me how to get going with this keyboard. I have installed the driver and can see that some sort of signal is getting into logic.
If it is possible, can you get me up and running quickly?
    Thanks

I'm assuming the Akai came with a manual, I know Logic did, you're going to have to do a little of the work yourself, your question is so vauge that no one knows what you're tried, or if you've even tried anything at all! This is professional software... you HAVE to read manuals...  have you used Garageband?  Have you plugged the Akai in, have you looked in Logic's online help systen to see how to load a software instrument?
Or job is not to hold your hand, this is a user forum, there are people here that will help but you need to to some work on your own.

  • Add Vol controls to non-Apple USB Keyboard?

Hi all. I just bought the Kensington Spillproof USB keyboard (for obvious reasons). The only problem with it is that it lacks the volume up, down, and mute buttons that the Apple keyboards have. Is there any way I can make a shortcut (possibly using the F keys) to control sound levels from my keyboard like I used to be able to do on my Apple board? Thanks!

    Hi Sound Speed-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards
Is this a USB keyboard or an adapted PC model?
If it isn't USB per se it most likely won't play nice with any Mac. Does it worked on a PC with the USB adapter?

  • Best keyboard for learning on -- looking to buy

I am looking to buy a USB keyboard for my kids (9 & 12) to learn on Garage Band. We are not piano players, but would like to start with the lessons and maybe graduate up to playing sheet music for fun.
Keeping it simple, but wanting quality and some room to grow on....
Any opinions on what to get or avoid?

For kids, I would always pick a standalone keyboard that can produce sounds by itself - you just turn it on and makes sounds, as opposed to a midi controller which always needs a computer attached which might not always be available. There's a ton of instruments on the market - just make sure it has either a Mac compatible USB output or a Midi out (in which case you need an extra Midi interface to connect to the computer).
If you want to head towards serious piano playing, a keyboard with weighted keys would make sense, or an electric piano with midi output.

  • Do the new slim USB keyboards work with OSX 10.4.7?

    Hi everyone,
I really want to get one of those new slim apple USB keyboards for my iMac, but it says on its product description page that the system requirements are OSX 10.4.10. I have 10.4.7 running on my iMac, don't want to update it coz my everything is working perfectly and my theory is if it ain't broke, why fix it? So was wondering if I did get the keyboard anyway, would it work with 10.4.7?
I do hear horror stories of people updating their software and having nightmarish problems thereafter, thats why am very cautious about updating my software, as currently I am in a real sweet spot of stability, and don't want to upset that.
Thanks for your responses in advance!

Well I got the slim keyboard (love it), and did the updates till 10.4.10 as required. It all went ok, but got blue screen of death after the quicktime update, and had to do a hard reset (my first ever on my iMac), and is all ok now - so far...
But! The best bit was - the Gfx card performance is up 20% :))
(I do graphics work, ran a couple of tests after the updates. Neat!)
The updates probably had a Gfx card driver update...
I guess its win win all round, just hope i don't have any stability issues now - fingers crossed!
