If your MBP is under warranty, bring it to an Apple store and have the technicians fix it.  If not, try the steps in this support article:

    Hello waseem.abdul_hadi,
It may be that your Screen Curtain has been activated. This can be deactivated by triple-tapping the screen with three fingers.
Turn the screen curtain on or off. Triple-tap with three fingers. When the screen curtain is on, the screen contents are active even though the display is turned off.

  • GS70 Stealth Keyboard Lighting

    Hey,
I have just got my hands on the GS70 today, and everything looks good, other than the keyboard lighting (small issue but bugs the hell out of me). Some of the lighting does not work, for example the F7 F8 F9 F11, the left ALT and the number pad. I was just wondering if that if anyone is facing the similar problem.
    Thanks

Most likely this is a hardware issue and the won't be much you can do about it.  I would  RMA it....

  • Green light on new power supply but no power

I have a 2 year old HP Pavillion p6654y desktop. It was working excellent until the 2012 olypics when it just shut off while i was watching table tennis.  the warranty had run out and it was cheaper for me to just buy a laptop at the time.  I recently plugged it up just to see if it would work.  It would not work, so i looked at a couple of forums and it seemed as though i had a power supply problem. I purchased a new one and installed it, took out the battery that looks like a watch battery for 3 minutes and put it back it in. there is power going in because I have it the ethernet wire plugged in and the light on my modem/router is on. Also the light on the power supply is a steady green. lastly the motherboard light is on.  I have checked all the wires blown all the dust out. I still have nothing, any suggestions?

    Hey denwood35,
I'm sorry you're running into this no power issue.
I would first suggest trying different monitors.
Next you could try swapping out the RAM. If you have two sticks, try just one stick in one slot at a time, or try known-good RAM from another computer.
Does the computer stay on indefinitely when you press the power button to turn it on? Just no image on the screen? Or do the fans and lights go off on their own after a few seconds or any length of time?
What wattage is the new power supply?
Let me know the results of those tests above when you get a chance

  • Screen lights up, music plays, but screen is blank

I have just recently sent in my first ipod mini to the Apple repair service. They sent me a replacement ipod. The replacement worked fine for a while but is now acting up.
The screen lights up, and the music plays just fine, but the screen is blank.
I have tried to plug the ipod into my computer - itunes does recognize it and updates it.
I have also tried to reset and restore the ipod, but to no avail.
I have contacted Apple repair services again, but they want me to send in the proof of purchase...but this is the replacement ipod that they had sent me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just try filling out the online form...

If the bother to call and ask for the proof of purchase through that, then just say that it is an exchanged iPod.
See when they say this one was purchased. Go to the link below and on the right a few scrolls down the page there is an about your apple product box. Enter your Serial Number. If it is under a year there, you need not send anything in...

  • Unit crashes and white light flashes very fast and tv screen goes blank

Apple TV crashes after a half hour of viewing and white light continues to flash very fast and tv screen goes blank

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

  • Screen remains black after power on

Brand new MacBook Pro 17"  Unibody.  I powered down last night and this morning on power up the screen remained blank (no visible faint displays).  Keyboard backlight was on.  Startup "noise" normal.
Battery was fully charged when shutdown.
Power cycled several times with no success.  Removed all attachments including the power cord and after several attempts it finally powered on with a good screen display.
VERY frustrating experience.  I have older 15" MBP and an iMAC and have never experienced this before.
Is there a patch/fix for this?  Running 10.7.1 factory installed OS.
Is there some recourse to this?  Should I take MBP to Genius desk?  Can they investigate/eliminate the problem?

  • MSI GS70 2QE - Screen Askew

    Hi,
I bought an MSI GS70 2QE last week. I've noticed the screen is ever so slightly askew, its minor but its offputtng given the price of the laptop. I'm currently in talks with the place I bought it from who are saying they cant see the issue and have contacted MSI who also dont see the issue.
Can any MSI board members comment on the following images.
You'll notice if you zoom in on the left and right lower hand sides of the screen where it sits neatly next to the laptop body there is more of the black bezel showing on the right hand side.

They are saying not. They are happy to take the laptop back and look at it but if they don't see the issue they will return it to me. I've given them the exact photo. Everyone at work can see it etc, but I'm concerned they will see the issue and consider this within manufacturers tolerances. This will mean the laptop will have done a round trip to their office, been inspected and returned, something I don't fancy on a laptop costing over £1600.
I've asked if they will allow m to pay a restocking fee but they don't seem to want to do this either.
The issue is definitely there but I think its a case of whether I'm being too fussy or not. I don't believe I am.

  • HT3180 I have restarted using the remote and unplugging waiting thirty seconds.  The unit comes on shows the turning circle then the screen goes blank and the light remains on.

  • Macbook won't start up and the screen stays blank but the light is on...

So one day randomly my macbook screen turned blank but he white light stayed lit up entirely. I tried moving the mouse around but the screen remained blank. I've tried to shut the macbook off and turn it on again and the white light goes off and on when I do that but the screen remains blank and the start up chime is not heard.
I've tried every single solution on the apple troubleshooting except trying to start up from disc because I can't put the restore disc in because the disc drive will not bring the disc in. I am not under warranty anymore and I need help desperately if anyone can help me out here. I can provide more details if neccessary.

Try to also press cmd+v while booting the system, it will print out whatever it's doing on the screen if it boots successfully past its POST. If not, then I think there's a motherboard (also called a logic board by Apple) issue.
It doesn't really sound like a hard drive failure since the hard drive failure will result in a ? logo.
Have you also tried to reset your PRAM?

  • During an upgrade power was interrupted and when rebooting tune came on by screen remained gray.

During an upgrade, power was interrupted and when rebooting, the chime sounded, but screen remained gray.

What version of OSX is it?
    If it's 10.7 or higher...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

Do you have a 15" mid-2010? If so then your problem is surely...
Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
             com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff
                dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport(2.2.1)@0x82fd3000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6.5)@0x7a802000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.2.1)@0x8301b000
             com.apple.nvidia.nv50hal(6.4.0)@0x83c05000->0x84019fff
                dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000
             com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000->0x8378dfff

                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.2.1)@0x8301b000
Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
    Good luck,
    Clinton
