Re: GT70 2PC dominator will not boot

Sometimes a defective HDD would have such symptom, and the power board may have problem.  Try to remove battery and boot with AC adapter, or remove HDD to check boot situation.
Better send it to repair center if you can't find the root cause by yourself.

Quote from: badboy2k on Yesterday at 21:03:56have you updated the BIOS before on your board? if so what version did you flash before 13.5 (D5)!
I do bios update many times. But, I don't remember last running ...

  • GT70-2PC Dominator - Won't boot after restore

Today I performed a factory restore using the DVDs I burned when I first got this laptop (I had deleted the recovery partition).
Everything went fine, however now the laptop won't boot.
I don't see the drives in the bios unless I disable UEFI.
If I switch to legacy mode, the drives appear but don't boot.
I booted up off a "Mini Tool Partition Wizard" cd and the file structure looks like I would expect.
Even the recovery partition is back though F3 doesn't work.
I am running an unlocked bios, other than that, I'm stock.
Any ideas before I give up and go buy a W8 license to do a clean install??

Svet was just saying that if you deleted the recovery partitions, doing a 'factory restore' from the F3 boot option will not work.
You mentioned you used the Recovery DVD's that you created, correct? Those would not have the same issue.
You shouldn't NEED to buy a Win8 license to do a clean install, you already own one with the laptop. You can use a Windows 8 disc (that is the SAME version...ie if it's Home Premium you need a home premium disc to install it....) and install it that way.
Failing that, I would give the recovery discs another try and see if they can fix it. Once more, before you try the clean install method.

  • MSI GT70 2PC Dominator Battleship – EpisodeⅠ

    [Introduction]
[Roberts  are the dream of every man] one of my close fellows said. Actually, I am not a 3C fans. But it is really excited that Titan Fall is online now. So I made a tough decision that I never did it before. I purchased the [MSI GT70  2PC Dominator] with last year bounds.
    [Open box article]
Finally, the shipment is coming today. It is true that now is one of my happiest moment in life. I put down all my work and start to share my new toy for everyone.
    Note:
It is sad that I only have a phone next to me. Please forgive me those non-quality and non-professional pictures in article.
That is cool that we can find a big case with MSI log and an extra backpack in package.
There is MSI log on the top of box. Furthermore, I must said the Dragon log is so fashion and beautiful. That is a nice backpack which we can carry it outside anytime.
There is an extra soft layer behind the backpack. It improves the comfortable and air permeability  for user.
In my own opinion, I like this kind of design.
Let’s check what surprise us in box.
We could see the label of GT70 2PC spec on the side of box.
MSI really provide the multi-protection for their products. There are two more cases inside.
We can find MSI gaming mouse/ SteelSeries SIBERIA V2 gaming headphone in box. Besides, there is a small and special box which has MSI Log. We will check it later.
All right. I think we can throw away the empty box now.
Wait a minute!!! The box is still so heavy. It must be something else that we didn’t take out.
Oh well, I see. There is a warranty service book and driver CD in the right side.
Also, battery and adapter are behind the cover.
    Let’s take a family picture.
    We have quick guide/MSI rromotional materials/manual for F3 recovery/driver CD for Win8.1/Warranty service book/ Windows 8.1 guide
Oh my god. There is a signet in that special box. Dragoon postmark is so elegant.
    SteelSeries  SIBERIA V2 Full-Size headset.
Furthermore, it supports 4 different languages. You can find the spec on its box.
Wow. MSI log is on the headphone. Totally, It is customized for MSI brand!!!
Another dragon army log on headphone.
MSI didn’t forget the inside of headphone. A beautiful shield is on it.
SteelSeries also promote this headphone on its website. It is so popular.

Now, let’s show SteelSeries KINZU V2 mouse.
Mouse supports 4 different languages, too. We also can find the spec on box.
However, there is no driver CD in box…LOL. How do I use it? We only can find the cute mouse and manual.
Sorry, my bad. We can download the driver and firmware from SteelSeries official website.

Of course, there is a powerful dragon on mouse pad.
    Take a mouse family picture.
180W adapter is just like a big strong brick. It is designed by most famous industry DELTA. You can find all kinds of safety signatures on it. It is powerful and undefeatable on playing game.  But please understand that I didn’t suggest dear readers to use it as a weapon to throw/hurt people!!!
The battery is 7800mAh. And you can see all kinds of safety signatures on it.
Finally, our rock star is coming.
The laptop is surrounding by a lot of soft foams.
Huge dragon shield log on it.
Take off the black jacket. Then, we can see a nonwoven fabric inside the plastic bag.
    Game start!!
This universe battle cruiser will help me dominate all my enemies in game .
We can find the security lack/power jack/ RJ45 port/D-SUB/m-DP/HDMI in back. The sales man said it can also support three external displays at same time. I must try the solution by myself when I get my new screens.
On the left side, there are USB3.0 port/Card Reader/HiFi headphone port (According to the spec, it will increase 30% audio performance). I can’t wait to listen my favorite music with it.
I didn’t forget my lovely BD. It also has BD reader/writer and 2 USB2.0 on the right side.
I can’t stop myself to take another wonderful photo with the MSI logo and upper case.
I have a feeling that my dominator is ready fight.
There is a [SteelSeries] LOGO on the  left side. What a surprise it is. YA! We have SteelSeries keyboard on GT70. Absolutely, this is a gamer dream. Best Keyboard vendor SteelSeries and Top Gaming NB brand MSI are working together! It is totally worth for me.
DYNAUDIO, the leader of audio industry. As you know, BUGATTI’s sport cars use the DYNAUDIO. And  MSI is the first notebook in world with this sound of Danish pride.
    HA!HA!
I’m listening the best sound as rich people sitting in their sport cars. It feels great.

We also have Bluetooth/WLAN/battery/sleep/disk indicators in front of laptop.
Here is GT70 spec and signatures form Sound Blaster CINEMA / nVIDIA /Intel.
An independent On/Off switch for touch pad.
Built-in Camera and Mic on the display.
You can see the thermal design and the battery when we check the back side.
The silver part is our bass. Just like the cannon on our battleship.
    What is under the battery?
The left side is the safety signatures for GT70 and its WLAN.
The right side is Win8 LOGO and serial number.
Now we know my baby is born on February.
    [Power on]
Gee!the Log is shining when the system is. power on .
The keyboard is just like the most beautiful rainbow that I’ve never seen. It is stunning. Honestly, my cheerful tear is dropping.
    Anyway, Titanfall, I’m coming.
What? Something pops up when I attach the network.
    What is [Killer Network Manager]?
Wow. Now I know that Killer high-performance networking products combine intelligence, control and superior networking speed for HD video, high quality audio, and online games. That’s great. I hate the evil [LAG] in game.
    https://www.qca.qualcomm.com/products/killer-technology/
After the quick test, it is time to install my game.
I find a secret app in the tray of task bar during the game installation.
YA! That is SSE (Steelseries Engine). I can set my own hotkey, backlight LED and combo key with this good friend.
SSE is a smart app. It recognized my GT70 and my mouse immediately when I launch the app.
Sorry again. I was wrong because I don’t need a mouse driver. The SSE can control all of the actions. It is so sweet.
It is the time to say goodbye. Titanfall is calling. See you on battlefield!!!

  • GT70 2PC: 870M does not activate, benchmarks and performance ingame confirm this

I bought myself a GT70 2PC Dominator (the SSD version) with an 870M inside, and after starting several games, checking benchmarks and comparing framerates to my current desktop machine (which has an i5 2500K and a GTX 770), I find that, even after configuring the machine to prefer the "powerful Nvidia processor", and setting all games to use the Nvidia processor, it still uses the 4600 processor. I'm getting rather low framerates, I'm not hearing any fan speed increase, Benchmarks ingame like the one from Sleeping Dogs still report the 4600 GPU and some games won't even boot up properly (like Just Cause 2). I did configure all the games to use the Nvidia GPU in my Nvidia Control panel, I updated my drivers, Device manager is finding both cards.
Is there a way to tell my laptop "Look, I don't care about saving my battery, I don't care about noise, I don't care about heat (as long as it does not damage anything), just ALWAYS use the Nvidia GPU, even when it's not needed, so I can actually have some enjoyment out of the 1600 EUR I spent on this machine"?

Check your power button light and see if it lights red(red=dgpu, white=igpu) and make sure you've attached battery with AC plugged while playing games.
Fan speed is changing by different cpu/gpu temperature, so check the temperature and the fan speed in Dragon Gaming Center and compare the temperature and the fan speed under different situation.
Can you tell the graphics driver version you're using? (both Intel and NVIDIA one)
Sadly for the Optimus structure, you can't disable the single graphics but you should be able to use the dGPU to run the game. Except the settings in NVIDIA Control Panel, you can also try to right click on the shortcut of the game and choose "run with graphics processor"> "High-performance NVIDIA processor"

  • HELP: GT70 2PC Dominator: Lag/stutter watching online streams + StarCraftII prob

    Hi,
I would greatly appreciate if somebody could please help me out here.
I own an MSI GT70 2PC Dominator with this "awesome" GTX870M graphics card and all the other great features that are listed on MSI's website (here: msi.com/product/nb/GT70-2PC-Dominator.html#hero-overview).
    My problems are the following:
    1. Lag/stutter when watching videos / streams online.
This applies to all sorts of videos and streams online, no matter the video format or website, I can never escape this damn stutter. But to take a good example: I love to watch StarCraft II on twitch. However I can at best watch it with "High" quality, "Source" quality causes the video to reload constantly and sometimes even the "High" quality causes stutter and lag. HOWEVER, on my girlfriends shitty $200-Acer laptop I can watch the exact same streams on source quality with no problems. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??? Both computers using firefox webbrowser. My NVIDIA (this is related to the graphics, right?) drivers are updated.
    2. StarCraft II graphics bug:
When playing SCII, it sometimes happends that some of the textures goes bananas. I have no picture of this, but it is like the smaller textures get somehow "extended" and "enlarged" while watching them from some angles. If anybody is familiar StarCraftII then I am for example talking about the mined vespene gas. They are usually small containers carried by the SCV's, but when this "bug" occurs, they start flickering and covering the entire screen, and when they "stabilize" for short periods of time (milliseconds) - they are about 10 times as big as they should be. Whaaaaat is going on?
I know I am completely useless at computers, but should I really be having these problems after buying a completely new product that should already be ready to perform at the highest levels? What could be causing this, are there any other drivers that I need to install or could I by mistake have messed up my settings somewhere? I am pretty sure it is not the internet connection, I can tell you that much.
Please excuse my English, it is my second language. I will be watching this thread on a daily basis so please help me and share your wisdom!
    Best regards,
    Dennis

  • MSI GT70 2PC Dominator Wifi Dropping

Hi there, new user here, first of all I have already read the existing post regarding wifi drops and fixes. To clarify, below are the steps that I have taken as per suggestions that i found on the net:
    1. Uninstalled the Killer Gaming Network manager program and only using the wifi/lan drivers.
    2. Re installed updated killer gaming network manager and drivers from both MSI and Killer websites.
    3. Change the maximize the power saving mode in the battery section for wireless adapter.
    4. Unable the power management settings in the network wireless via network and sharing centre.
    5. Use several different drivers via the update drivers window in network adapter (via device manager)
        - ive used the standard killer n1202 drivers.
        - ive used the qualcomm atheros wireless network adapter (both microsoft and qualcomm)
        - currently using the qualcomm atheros ar9462 802.11a/b/g/n wifi adapter
These are the steps that i've taken, one of the many that i can remember doing at the moment. Still to this day my wifi issue persist.
I refuse to believe that this is a hardware issue because the current GT70 that i am using is a brand new laptop that MSI has given me after I RMAed my earlier GT70. So you can say this is the 2nd laptop they've provided to me after making a hell lot of noise to them because my first GT70 had an unknown issue 1 week after light usage.
I've ran out of ideas on what to do, i've been sucking this up for the past 3-4 months as i cant find a fix. I've done everything i can except updating the bios, which i was advised not to since I do not know how to flash or update my bios (whichever term you call it).
My wifi drops so often and I keep having to flush my dns (using ipconfig /flushdns) every 30 mins or so just to able to use the net, much less play any games.
So i was wondering if there was any steps that I missed? Im really in desperate need for help as i no longer know what to do.
I appreciate any help that you guys can provide. Thank you very much!

Just a quick update on my wifi after installing two different 'realtek drivers' from the MSI website.
It's still too early to tell, I will update further once i start gaming.
Just incase you guys wanna install the drivers, proceed to this link:
    http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GT70-2PC-Dominator.html#down-driver&Win8.1 64
    Download this two files:
    Realtek Audio Drivers (222.21MB)
    Realtek Cardreader RTS5227-GR & RTS5249-GR (10.3MB)
PS: I downloaded the audio drivers just cause it had the name realtek in there lul!
    Keep me posted!
     UPDATE
After 2 hours of gaming and surfing the web, i didn't had to constantly flush my dns. Although my wifi bar alternates between 4 and 5 bars, im guessing this is normal (as the wireless modem isn't in my room but the room opposite mine).
So far so good, is it a coincidence? I am not too sure, give me a few more days of test run and it'll be more conclusive. I say you guys should update your drivers, no harm in trying right?

  • Issues with a GT70-2PC Dominator

    Morning everyone.
I am an italian customer who has recently bought an MSI GT70-2PC Dominator. I am kinda new to the mobile gaming thing, so please apologize me for whatever you judge unappropriate.
As I stated in the topic subject above, I'm having some performance issues on this laptop while I'm gaming.. I'm talking about lag and throttling. The game I've been testing is Ghost recon Phantoms (online FPS), but it's not very high-resource demanding, compared to last gen titles.. so I shouldn't have problems running it!
I have updated all the common drivers expect for a couple of them i'm not really sure about updating.. basically when I went to the msi download page for my laptop, there is one tab which displays 'firmware' - and contains not only firmwares, but also a vga bios.
    I have not updated:
    BIOS
    VBIOS
    Firmware
    My questions are:
N.A) Is updating these drivers gonna improve my overall laptop performance?
    1) Which bios should i update? 50y or 70y? I don't use raid, i'm asking just to be sure
    2) How can i update the VBIOS? I couldn't find a tutorial for it, can you explain it to me?
    3) How can i update the firmware? And which one of the twos (1513 and 2513) should i install? Again, can't find a tutorial for this.
I have Win 8.1 as OS.
Hope to solve my issues as soon as possible so I can start enjoying my new laptop! Thanks in advance guys.

I'll start with my normal speech....
How do you know it was throttling? You don't give any temperature information or anything else.....
What color was your power button when you were gaming? If it was white....well, you were using the Intel iGPU and not the NVidia, which would explain why you were seeing lagging and what you thought was 'throttling'.
I saw this recently myself when I ran Brutal Legend for the first time....it was still using the Intel iGPU. As soon as I setup the NVidia driver to switch for the game, suddenly everything worked AWESOMELY, and it was great.
Give a bit more information (specifically temperature, and color of the power button. Use MSI Afterburner if you need to) and we'll see what the next steps should be.

  • GT70 2PC Dominator GTX870M. games running at less than 20fps

i added an SSD (samsung 250gb) to my new GT70 2PC Dominator GTX870M.
    i formatted the HDD.
i installed a fresh Windows 8 on the SSD. (the HDD had windows 8.1)
i installed all the drivers. and updated them and updated windows.
Bioshock Infinite runs at less than 20fps at medium setting. totally unplayable.
Assassin's Creed 4 Freedom Cry runs at 15fps at low settings. also totally unplayable.
    battlefield 4 runs fine Ultra 1080p ~ 60fps.
what is wrong? this cant be normal. i see videos people playing them at Ultra settings with 40fps+
could it be that the Intel Graphics card is taking over and the GTX870M not kicking in?

    Yup it might be that.
Go through Nvidia Control Panel and for Global Settings set GTX to be used.
Make sure that you're running newest drivers too, as this might be the problem (even games' updates/patches )

  • Can i upgrade me GT70 2PC dominator whit gtx 870m gpu to gtx 970m?

I have http://dragonarmy.msi.com/home/weapons/GT70-2PC-Dominator can i upgrade me GPU to GTX 970m?

    Quote from: JakeSully;114676
If your warranty was vaild and you did this then if laptop breaks soon or any issues occures you wont get any warranty repairs then it will cost you for it. So best is to avoid doing any modifications on system for now and let it be or let MSI Service do it for you so your warranty isnt voided.
I am aware of that, however, I have yet to have a single MSI laptop break on me over the past 5 years of ownership and 3 different laptops.  I have modded and swapped out CPUs and GPUs on all of them without a single issue.  As long as you know what you're doing and have PC building and mod experience you should be OK.  However, the issue comes when people don't know what they're doing and mess something up.
MSI makes a sturdy machine, and there is no reason why upgrading your graphics card to a card that is also supported by your model should cause any sort of issue.

  • 2009 Mac Pro will not boot up under Windows

I have an Early 2009 Mac Pro system (Mac Pro 4,1) and I've had this system for 3 years already and have been working under OS X with this system ever since I purchased it.
However, when I tried to boot off my Windows disk, something very interesting happens. The Mac Pro WILL NOT boot up off the Windows disk or a known working Windows partition if two monitors are connected. Upon holding down the option key and selecting the Windows partition, I will get a black screen on one monitor (the one connected via Mini Displayport) and the other screen receives no signal and will enter standby and the system is halted. It does not respond to keystrokes, there is no hard drive activity, no measured power increase on the UPS, no apparent network activity, nothing. The only way to exit this scenario (from what I can tell) is to power off the machine, disconnect the display on DVI, power on the machine again, select the Windows partition wait for the system to reach the login window and reconnect the DVI monitor (at which time Windows recognizes it immediately and the system works fine again).
My question to the community is, does anybody know why this is happening and is there a known fix for this? Quite frankly, having to disconnect a monitor just to restart is very tedious and frustrating.
I have two Samsung P2350 monitors attached to an ATI Radeon HD 4870 (512MB, from Apple). One is monitor is connected via directly DVI and the other is using a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter. Both monitors work fine under OS X with no issue. At first, I thought that this may be a driver issue on the Windows side and after installing all the latest updates and drivers the issue is still apparent. From what I can tell, this doesn't seem like a software issue but rather a firmware or EFI issue as this happens before Windows even loads.
If anyone knows of a fix or what to do in this situation, or if you are also having this issue, I would love to hear your input!
    Thank you!
For the record, I am running all the latest software builds on the OS X side (10.7.4, not that it would really matter at this point). I have also disconnected all unnecessary equipment in a trial and error scenario but the results are still the same.
The system passes all ASD testing.
The full specification of the computer and all connected equipment are as follows:
    2009 Mac Pro (4,1) 8-Core
    2x Intel Xeon Nehalem 2.66GHz Quad-Core CPUs
    16GB DDR3 ECC 1066MHz RAM (Apple Branded)
Two OWC 120GB SSDs (One for OS X, the other for Windows 7 x64) - These are in place of my optical drives.
4x 2TB WD Black Hard drives for storage.
Two Samsung P2350 Monitors connected via DVI. (One using a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter).

In Windows I am using the latest (12.4) Catalyst Software Suite, 64 bit of course, downloaded directly from AMD's site after installing the drivers from Boot Camp.
As for installing Windows I used an original (not burned) installation media (Disk is in a pristine condition). And yes, Windows is fine, the problem just seems to be getting the system to boot up Windows with that second monitor. However if the "problem monitor" is disconnected the system boots fine 100% of the time and connecting it later after booting the system will still operate properly.
For the sake of arguement I swapped monitor cables and connected the "second" monitor to the mini displayport adapter to verify that it wasn't a cabling issue and I'm still yielding the same issues.
As for GPU testing, I've played games (Crysis, Grand Theft Auto IV, Battlefield 3, etc.) and I've had no issues with the card or stability.
You would think that Apple would try to find a fix for this, especially considering the caliber of this machine.

  • Macbook Pro will not boot up normally ***Not Normal Problems***

Ok. I have an older 17" Macbook pro 2.33 (10.6 fully updated) that will not boot up in normal mode. When I boot it shows "blocks" of different colors and will not get past the blue screen sometimes. When it does get passed the the blue or grey screen it is a split screen of white back ground with large black blocks seperating the sides. I have tried swapping out harddrives with a known working one with an OSX image on it-no good. I have tried  swapping out ram-same thing. I reset the SMC and PRAM-only colors changed in the blocks. I have ran disk utilites disk and permisions with no problems. I can't boot into a restore disk using the c key during boot, It locks up at the same screen. Nothing works except safe mode. I can boot into safe mode and everything works just fine with normal screen and all. Now I tried runing the Lion installer thinking it is and driver issue but I can't get Lion to boot to the hard drive and Snow leopard just reboots back to the same screen. So how can I get Lion to install or Snow Leopard?
What can I do? I noticed this last weekend when I tried to reboot my MB Pro and it started this. Well Apple pushed and update last friday - I needed to restart it again and this happends. I thought it was a logic board at fist until it booted fine in safe mode.

Sorry. What I mean is I selected the SL boot up in the start up panel and it would not boot into the cd. The CD rom sounds like it just keeps reading with it slowly loading from grey screen to blue screen to the Block screen. Almost like it is booting into normal mode from the hard drive.
What I can't understand is why it runs fine is Safe mode?
Also why do I get a " this disk cannot be used to start up your computer" message on my hard drive when trying to install Lion in safe mode? Well why not it's the only hard drive in the computer?
The first screen shot is the Tech tool showing everything passed the hardware test is safe mode.

  • IMac Late 2006 Will Not Boot Up

I have a late 2006 iMac. The problem I have is that it will not boot up. I press the power button and the light comes on but the display is blank. Do you all think the problem is the logic board?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

Could be. Is it that the display is blank but the system is running???? If so, what if you connect an External Monitor.
My iBook has been having Logic Board issues similar to what you say though, but it's because of a chip on the lower side of the board that become desoldered. I ended up putting a small piece of rubber onto it to apply pressure onto the chip once I reapplied the case/undercover. It works & I backed up everything, but it sometime acts up again with similar symptoms as your iMac.

  • I am in mavericks disk utility recovery mode as my mac book will not boot up & stays only on the grey apple screen. When I verify the disk I get open error5 :input /output error on Syst stuck on 1 minute pouring out over 50 error messages & still counting

I am in Mavericks disk utility recovery mode as my mac book pro will not boot up & stays on the Apple grey screen . When I verify disk permissions I get
Open error 5:"input/ output error" on syst with over 50 of this messages & still counting . Disk Utility says 1 minute
But this has been going on for over 10 mins .
I can not verify disk or repair disk .
I have tried to reinstall mavericks operating system but it says my hard drive is locked which is very strange .
Does anyone know what is going on here ?
My system looks like it has been totally corrupted . Thanks Andrew

Could be. The "lock" isn't actually looking for a password.
WARNING: This will completely erase the ENTIRE hard drive.
What you would need to do is boot to recovery > disk utility > select the MAIN drive on the left side > partition > change partition layout from CURRENT to 1 PARTITION > ensure on the right side it says Format : Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) then push APPLY.
Then if it will allow us, close the windows until you see the 4 options popup again and select "Reinstall Mac OS X" select the Mac HD and you should be good to go!

  • My Mid 2010 MacBook Pro will not boot

My Mid 2010 MacBook Pro will not boot regularly, in safe mode, in recovery mode or from original OS DVD. Is this the logic board?
I've tried resetting the SMC and pram numerous times and even tried switching out hdd's to try and do a clean install on a new hdd.
If I attempt to boot regularly or from recovery drive the grey apple logo appears for a period before the screen goes black and the power LED operates as though in 'sleep' mode. I'm unable to wake it from this state and the same applies to booting in safe mode.
When attempting to boot from the OS DVD that was originally packed with the computer it just freezes on the language select option, this occurs with the other hdd's I have attempted to use.
Any other suggestions to get it working? I fear the logic board has gone and that the repair won't be worth the money.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi JRC8.8,
It sounds like you have been on the right track in trying to troubleshoot this issue. You may want to see if your MacBook Pro will boot directly to the Apple Hardware Test, as outlined in the following article:
Apple Support: Using Apple Hardware Test

  • OSX 10.6.8 server will Not Boot

Hi my 10.6.8 server will not boot.  System is a 2009 Mac pro.  I have run disk utility from the original server software install disk, ran repair disk, and repair disk permissions.  Get some acl found errors have read that they most often are erroneous, Still got the same errors after permission repairs.  While booting in verbose mode get the following messages before it stops:
    kern.maxprocoeruip: 266 -> 2400
launchctl: Couldn't stat("/library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.asterisk.plist"): Nosuch File or directory (note: removed asterisk from this system months ago)
launchctl: Please convert the following to launchd: /ect/mach_init.d/chum.plist
launchctl: Please convert the following to launchd: /ect/mac_ini/dashboardadvisoryd.plist
launchctl: Please convert the following to launchd: /ect/mach_init.d/pilotfish.plist
Unexpected error triggering kextd volume watching.
/: Couldn't get description from Disk Arbitration..
I did read on another post here to try to reinstall the os, however when I try to install over the operating system it says I am trying to install an older os and it will not let me install in the same volume....  Although I am confident I have all the data on backups as well have timemachine backups, I would rather not have to erase and install this machine.
Any insight to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I found that I had a bad harddrive, or at least that is what I think happened..  I did have a time machine backup as well, although in hindsight, I should have made some manual backups of my open directory and the databases hosted on the server.  In any case I ended up purchasing "server grade" harddrives and reinstalling the OS on to the new blank hard drives, I was then able to recover from my time machine backup, however, I did have the issue of the restore going over 100%, I tried this several times and the same result with no end after hours and hours.   After reading through various forums I found that clicking the mouse button for about 10 minutes straight once it hit 100% finally worked, I was lucky that the Time machine backup had good data on it since I have read several posts saying that Time machine doesn;t backup directoies or any "open files" very well, however I had no problems after recovering from the backup.  I do however now backup or archive my directory everyday, and I rely on Filemaker to backup its own databases, however I still use time machine as well...
