Re: H67MA-E45 bricked after v3.0 update?

I wanted to flash new IvyBridge/ClickBiosII version to my board. The Flasher is windows based only. I put it on USB, it flashed the BIOS, I could go into new ClickBIOS, but after restart it said it was updating Intel ME and it went to 100%. PC restarted and there is no POST, no beeps, only blue LEDs above CPU light up and CPU fans spins for about 2 seconds and it happens over and over until i put out the power plug. Should I RMA right away or is it possible to use some home solution? Like SPI flasher over LTP? And if I did use something like that on bios chip would it revert the whole thing? (BIOS update and ME8 update)
Any suggestions appreciated;)
Just the same with P67A-G45. The same behaviour after flashing. I'll try to flash by EPROM writer the old version. Before I flashed P67A-C43with the same version of BIOS - all Ok

Where do all you people get off this is only able to be flashed in Windows?
Read further down in the SOP. I think you will find how to do it in DOS.
USB stick formatted Fat32? USB stick properly made bootable?
I suppose a pc shop with a SPI device might be able to restore the board.
I used DOS but got a brick. No useful answer from support  - they think I don't know how to clear CMOS. I wonder if they know any other words - they didn't read my request to the end. It is clear that no engineer is answering - simply some college girl.
I can use EPROM writer to flash the BIOS chip after taking it off, but there is the second flash chip. I need some technical advise.
Who can explain what chip is flashed during second flashing? What is flashed? I could repair the motherboard easily  then

  • New IPhone is a Brick - after new Software Update

Last night I synced my new IPhone 3G that I got this past July after lining up for 2 hours. Love it! However, it's been turned into a brick.
I synced with iTunes 7, using the correct cable with no dock, and it mentioned that there is an update for the iPhone software (2.1). So, duh, I applied it.
When it was done, the phone was dark, so I started it and got the image of the usb cable and a iTunes image, and iTunes said:
"iTunes must check the iPhone software update server to identify this device..."
    I clicked "check"
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes"
I clicked "ok" - then clicked "restore".
"Automatically checking for iTunes and iPhone updates is disabled. Would you like iTunes to check for a new iPhone software update?"
    I clicked "check".
"Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone "iPhone" to his factory settings?...."
    I clicked "Restore and Update"
    "extracting software....preparing iPhone for restore...."
"the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (13)."
    TOAST
I loved this phone, and now it's a brick!
    Will apple help?

I had a similiar issue last night when upgrading my just purchased iPhone to 2.01. Itunes downloaded the new update but during the install I received a message stating "the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)." I tried this 4 times and got the same results. My iPhone had a dark screen with icons of a cable and itunes on it. Well I called apple support waited for 30 minutes to get to a techinican. After explaining my issue he put me on hold for another 15 minutes then I mysteriously was transfered to AT&T. I was hot to say the least. I WAS able to fix this on my own. I originally was using an imac with iTunes 7.71 on it. I had a PC laptop with iTunes 7.70 (not 7.71). I plugged the iPhone directly to the PC (Not a USB hub). I was successful with the upgrade doing this. I upgraded 2 other iPhones that day and received the error 6 code. But after a second try they went through. I think there is an issue with iTunes 7.71 causing the failures during updates. Try to get your hands on a copy of iTunes pre 7.71. And ensure you are connecting the phone directly to the computer.

  • IPhone 4S is a brick after trying to update yesterday

My phone was almost out of juice yesterday afternoon and I did not have my AC Charger.  I plugged it into the USB port on my PC and continued to try and work and Itunes popped up saying there was an update available etc.  Updated it to the iOS 7 when it first came out but figured Ok Microsoft's updates all of the time so why not. followed the prompts to back up to iCloud, went through all of the ridiculous updating infomration, Credit Card on file etc.  But when it was done my phone was stuck in RESTORE mode.   I have tried every button pushing fix on the web.  This is so frustrating.  My phone worked perfect until IAPPLE/ITUNES got a hold of it.  Never had a Microsoft's update ruin my entire computer.
I took it to the local tech center today and they told me I was just f'd and offered to sell me a new phone or charge me $200 for a warranty replacement.  Said that all of the water thingies or whatever were tripped or something like that.  3 months ago someone spilt their coffee on the table and it got slightly wet.  It did go out for a few hours but has been up and running perfectly, absolutely perfectly for over 3 months now.  That is until I plugged it into the dang ITUNES thing.  I am NOT going to pay for a new iPhone.  Apple jacked it up, Apple needs to fix it.  It is obvious that this is happening everywhere to all types of phones, iPads etc.  It is all over the web.
Does anyone have any solutions here?????????????????

AnjieAllen, shrug off the critic. As you said, you are not alone with this problem and I doubt it was caused by delayed damge from the coffee spill. As a matter of fact, the software update ruined my iphone 4s and after spending two days trying to fix it, including a trip to the Apple Store, searching for online tricks, and contacting Apple support, I gave up and bought a brand new iphone 5s. When I set it up the new iPhone and updated to the latest software, thinking what are the chances this would happen again to my brand new iphone. Well, it did!
So now I have two iphones stuck in recovery mode and nothing works to get them out of recovery mode. I have spent two and a half hours this afternoon online chatting with Apple support and they can not figure it out either. The fact is, Apple released software that has rendered their products useless and likely resulted in the loss of priceless data belonging to their customers. I hope we see an acknowledgement from Apple about this problem and what they intend to do to compensate and/or assist customers.

  • 4s bricked after trying new update, stuck with black screen with apple logo how can i fix this

    Update bricked my 4s
phone , stuck with black screen with apple logo ..
    how can I fix this

    Greetings r1042,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your iPhone is not booting up past the Apple logo. In this situation, I would recommend working through the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • IPhone 4S bricked after 6.1 update - iTunes errors 21/1611

Yesterday my iPhone 4S asked me to install the iOS 6.1 update (via the Settings.app) "over the air". After downloading and preparing the update, the iPhone rebooted itself to start the update process.
Unfortunately, this is where it all went wrong. It seems like the iPhone update failed somewhere along this process. It is now stuck in "Recovery Mode", with the picture showing me to connect the phone to iTunes.
I have tried countless times restoring the phone via iTunes, on 4 different computers, and on Windows 7 and OS X.
Nothing works. The restore process fails during the "Preparing iPhone" phase.
    Here's what happens every time:
I can see the phone being restarted.
The Apple logo shows up, and a little wheel in the bottom of the screen starts spinning
As soon as (usually even before) the progress bar shows up on the phone, the device suddenly shuts down
The iPhone reboots right back into recovery mode, asking me to connect to iTunes
I'm quite desperate at this point. I have followed all steps imaginable (including turning off Windows firewall and antivirus software), but even then the restore still won't complete. iTunes always gives me the same error: 1611.
When putting the phone into DFU manually, it gives me another error: 21.
Both seem to point to third-party security software interfering with the restore process.
However, having tried this on 4 different computers, I am 99% sure that this is not the issue. So far I've tried:
    HP Laptop - Windows 7
    Asus Desktop - Windows 7
    2010 Macbook Pro 15" - OS X Mountain Lion + Windows 8 (Bootcamp)
    2010 Macbook Pro 13" - OS X Mountain Lion
Also, I should mention that in Belgium there aren't any official Apple Stores where I can book an appointment at a Genius Bar. Is this 4S doomed?

    @Hasan123
Hasan123Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to downgrade to lower iOS versions even if I managed to get a restore going...
    @kefo68
Check your hosts file in Windows / OS X. This guide might help solve your problem: http://jaxov.com/2011/03/how-to-fix-itunes-error-3014-while-restoring-firmware/
    @wuzi36
I have already tried restoring the phone on my Macbook Pro running Windows 8 Pro, with the latest version of iTunes, but unfortunately the same errors still pop up...
    @Lawrence Finch
Antivirus and firewall are off, access to the Apple update verification servers is not the problem...
    @.tomaZ
Errors 1611 (in recovery mode) and sometimes 21 (when restoring in DFU mode).

Even though the update process is fairly straightforward and safe sometimes it can go wrong which is never fun when it happens to you. Rule #1 when doing a backup in any case and on any device is to have a backup.
If the phone will not properly restart or reboot you need to get it to a Nokia Care Pointof Repair Facility wher ethey shoudl be able to fix this for you. See HERE for your options which may vary from region to region.

  • Apple TV bricked after v6.0 Update Help Requested

My AppleTV was working before the v6.0 update. When I updated it I noticed it took a long time. It seemed to go ok but it then rebooted and showed to connect to iTunes. Never saw that before so I did a little Googling to figure out what was the cause. Looking around it seems this has happened before so I connected it to iTunes and tried to restore it no such luck.
So then I have tried restoring it across 4 different PCs and none were able to restore it. So now my question is I know its out of warranty but Apple's update is what messed it up. I had no issues before that. Am I screwed?
I made a Genius Bar appointment for Wednesday but Apple TV was not listed as a reason so I picked iPhone and explained in the notes what the issue is. Do you think they will let me try one of the Macs there to see if that will work for a restore or at least offer a replacement? Had it failed on its own I would think nothing of it and would never dream of asking for a replacement but their update is what killed it I think the responsibility lies on them. Even more proof in that it is their issue they pulled the update.
On the more technical side here is the PCs I used for the restore:
    Windows 8 Desktop
Windows 7 Desktop (Disabled Security Essentials)
    Windows 8 Laptop
Windows 7 Desktop (Fresh Box nothing installaed except iTunes)
I tried the latest version of iTunes and version 11.0 and same issues. All fail when it gets to Preparing Apple TV for Restore it sits at this for quite a while and then gives me several different errors. The most common across all machines was 1611. Which I read was a security software issue. Thats why I used a fresh Windows 7 system with Windows Firewall disabled and I still received the same error.
I notice that when restoring on the PCs that at first the power indicator on the AppleTV flashes rapidly and then when it gets to preaparing AppleTV for restore it flashes much slower until it fails and then it goes back to flashing quickly. Not sure what this indicates but thats what happens. I am sure there are details I am missing please feel free to ask and I will provide any information to help us solve this. Thank you.

    Peter,
So I just went and got a Micro USB cable of completely different make from one of my Co-Workers and followed this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367
My AppleTV does not show up in the iTunes list at all with just the Micro USB cable and it is the 720P version Apple 2.
    ****EDIT****
Spoke to soon I left mty AppleTV connected to the PC as I was typing it and it just now showed in iTunes with just the USB cable connected. It is now restoring as we speak. Thay article needs to be changed to reflect that the AppleTV 2 can take several minutes to appear in iTunes. Thank you sir very much appreciated.

  • IPad 3 bricked after IOS update, will not restore through iTunes

    Hi,
I have an iPad 3 wifi/3g model that bricked after an IOS update 7.0.6. The update failed at about 70% (Apple Logo with progress line on screen) and rebooted into recovery mode. I've tried doing a restore through iTunes mulitple times and even looked at jailbreaking it but no luck. It always fails during the update and I have tried muliple computers (Windows and Mac) Different networks (Home/Work) but the issue is still there.
The device won't go into DFU mode and in itunes it shows the serial number as n/a like the iPad has no software on it at all. I've tried everything I can thing of and I've had plenty of experiences recoverying and restoring IOS devices in the past. Tinyumberlla and other utils won't get it out of recovery mode and now iTunes won't even try to load the firmware back on the device, it just fails after extracting software.
I'm thinking its now a hardware issue, does anyone have another solution to try?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • IPhone 4 bricked after 7.0.6 update, anyone else have this issue?

During the update to 7.0.6 the iPhone 4 failed to apply the update and booted up in restore mode.  When restoring the iPhone fails during the hardware firmware write and displays an "unknown error" Error 12.  It happens on multiple computers and versions OSX, including the latest version of Mavericks.  Apple support walked through after everything I tried failed and proceded to tell me that the the phone is broken and must be sent in for repair at a cost of $149.  So, unwilling to take responsibility for an update breaking a phone that was working perfectly before 7.0.6 update, that is how Apple's newest security patch bricked one of my phones.  Beware with the install!
I was wondering if this was common with others or not?  Have you had a similar issue, let me know?

Sometimes a hardware issue becomes apparent after a software update, and sometimes its pure coincidence. Most peoples updates will have gone well, forums show the small minority that dont unfortumnately. My 5s and my wifes 5c both worked fine for instance, even though thats no good for you, i'm just saying its not all phones and there is always a flurry of these incidents after software updates. Contact Apple and via the help line, if you have an extended warrranty as you say your phone is 1.5 years old. If there is an issue they will ask you to send your phone in, and an exchange can be made if you live to far from your nearest Apple shop possibly. If you are out of warranty then you can do an out of warranty replacement. As to it being a software issue, have you done a DFU mode restore? Hope it works out.

Get attached file, and extract both files over your USB key,
then try again and check if the BIOS Update procedure will resume.
I extract both file to a usb drive and plug it in to the usb2 ports, the motherboard is trying to read the usb then restart. It is going to a loop and make it keep restarting.

  • Strange problem with motherboard H67MA-E45(B3) =( please help

Hi, I have a strange problem with my motherboard . I have a H67MA-E45 (B3) (MSI-7678) , when i try to update it ( http://www.pcbrain.it/images/stories/msi/H67MA-E45/bios/14.JPG ) , i choose the fourth option "Select one file to update bios" , but the bios did not recognize the update file (E7678IMS.1C0) into the Usb flash drive , but if i choose the second option (select one file to boot) the file is recognized. First I made a backup of the bios, and into the USB flash drive has been created a file called "E7678ICX.162" (my current update). Why the extension is IXC ?!? it should have been IMS ! . I tried changing the file extension "E7678IMS.1C0" (the new update) into "E7678ICX.1C0" and when i select the fourth option , the file is recognized! . Obviously I have not started the update , but if I proceed with the update, changed the name of the extension, is it safe? Or do damage?..please help me  :(
P.S. Sorry for my bad bad and very poor english , i'm italian =)

Still think there is a batch conflict or possibly a bad stick in the new sticks. Might test each new stick individually for a bad one. Again, the other solution for an 8BG kit may be the new Kingston HyperX PnP's. Could you post a screenshot of CPUID's CPU-Z Memory & SPD Tab for one of the new sticks?
Added: Actually, screenshots of the old sticks Memory & SPD Tab may be of help too. It may be tRAS or tRFC differences between the two kits. Just speculation at this point though.
All the batchs works perfectly...this is the screen http://imageshack.us/f/163/ramkk.jpg/ ...save and zoom

    motherboard:H67MA-E45
    cpu: i5-2400
    memory 2x 4gb corsair DDR3 (XMX8GX3M2A1333C9)
    +keyboard + DVI-D display
I've tried booting with everything else disconnected but all I get is those four beeps, ta-taaa-ta-ti. all four leds on a motherboard are also lit. nothing on a display.
result is the same with all four following trials:
    memory A in slot1 and memory B in slot3
    memory B in slot1 and memory A in slot3
    memory A in slot1
    memory B in slot1
if I boot without memories, system get's in to loop where it boots, shuts down and reboots.
this makes me think that memories might be ok as in single memory case they both work same way.
I tried re-mounting CPU but it made no difference.
I tried resetting bios  but it made no difference.
Motherboard, CPU and memories are all new. I am replacing broken stuff (My assumption is that motherboard and it's capacitors caused the failure) so I can not completely exclude power supply being faulty but I don't think this is very likely.
    any ideas?

decided to do one more try before going to sleep...
for some reason, cpu / motherboard did not automatically wake up my display, right after boot I disconnected and reconnected the display cable and now it is up and running.
    so there went my sleep

  • H67MA-E45 - Audio driver will not install

    Hello,
I look very much forward to suggestions how to install audio drivers for mainboard H67MA-E45 under Windows XP SP3.
After the hotfix KB888111 was installed, the Device Manager shows "Other Devices/Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" (four of them show up).
I tried to install the latest audio driver 5.10.0.6151 (Windows XP) from MSI's web site, but I always get the same error message: "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software". I have looked through all available catalogues to find the missing files, without success.
    Regards
    Adlon

Thank you Svet, I tried the following suggestion but it did not work:
    "Do this:
Go to device manager, then expand "System Devices", and locate "MS UAA bus" Right click over it, then click "Disable".
    Reboot and enter in "Safe Mode", {hit "F8" just after bios post screen}
Once done go to device manager then expand "System Devices", and locate "MS UAA bus"  Right click over it, then click "Un-install".
Reboot PC, then run Realtek driver installation again."
Instead of "Other Devices/Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" the Device Manager now shows "Other Devices/Unknow device (four of them)"
Same message after trying to install the audio drivers "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software".
I also tried to install the audio drivers after I had changed from version SP3 to SP2 in the registry, but no difference.
    Any more suggestions?
