Help in Oracle DB 11gR2 & Oracle 11gR2 Forms & reports Installation
hello everybody
i just want Help in Oracle Database 11gR2 & Oracle 11gR2 Forms & reports Installation
iam unable to install 11g Database & Forms_Reports Developer in the Windows XP.
Kindly Help me
regards
venugopalSome Preliminaries
First off, Oracle certifies only certain combinations of Oracle Fusion Middleware will work together, so make sure you have the right executables.
Only WLS 10.3.5 (and just released WLS 10.3.6) works with Oracle Forms and Reports 11.1.2.
Don't bother with the ZIP distribution on OTN.
Don't bother with the 12c (cloud distribution) of the application server.
First, you need to install the Java JDK (Java Development Kit) jdk1.6u31 or later.
Second, run wls1035_win32.exe to unpack and install the Weblogic server. Only install the software, do not install Windows service or run the Quickstart. That can wait until after Forms software installs.
Third, before installing Oracle Forms, a crucial environment variable setting needs setting. To make this change persistent, access your System Properties (right-click on My Computer icon on the desktop), switch to the "Advanced" tab , then press the "Environment Variables" pushbutton.
Create and set an environment variable "EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES". Make sure that the value is set to -Xms256m -Xmx256m
Fourth, start the setup.exe program for the Oracle Forms and Reports 11.1.2 installer.
At Step 3 of 13, select "Install software - Do not Configure". This will save time in case configuration bombs and you have to retry.
After a long while, the software installation process will finish.
Fifth, you will want to run the configuration wizard. This is the most memory sensitive part of the whole process.
Please close down all disk and memory intensive applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Firefox, and possibly Internet Explorer.
Failure to allow enough memory to inflate several JVMs can cause the wizard to hang.
You will have acquired a bunch of new Programs and shortcuts.
Swing over to the Start Menu and look for the Oracle Classic 11g - Home 1 group.
Inside you'll find a shortcut for Configure Classic Instance --- run it.
At Step 2 of the configuration tool, choose "Configure for Development"
At Step 10, you will start the process of creating Weblogic's "Classic Domain" for Forms and Reports 11g R2.
It may take 5 minutes or so to create ClassicDomain. This is the most memory sensitive part of the entire process.
The wrong configuration will cause the wizard to hang or fail on the "Create Domain" step.
If you're not seeing any checkmarks (or the progress indicator still shows 0% ) after 10 minutes, then you should cancel and get help. ( support.oracle.com )
Sixth, Reboot recommended. -
The Best Releas Of Oracle Application Server 10g (BI Forms&Reports)
hi all
i am asking u to loock with me to the best solution for my environment
becuse we want to upgrade our Environment work :
Current Work Environment:
- Oracle Database Server R 8i as (database)
- Oracle Developer 2000 as (Forms & Reports)
our comunity is welling to upgrade our work to 10g
and we are asking for the best release that we can use to a complish the best senario for our environment .
i have the current seggestion :
- Upgrade the database to R 10gR2 (Export&Import).
- Install & Migrate the developer side as Infrastruction Appliction Server 10gR(10.1.2.0 ) .
- Install the Middle Tire as BI Forms&Reports & Migrate our whole system to the new Release using developer Suite 10g .
i am asking you'r seggestions & Best Bractice in my case .
also what is the most Stable relase we can use .
thanks .Hi Ibrahim,
You can do an easier installation by only using base release of 10.1.2.0.2. What I stated would be good practice:
By * DB 10.2.0.3 ---- > u mean (Database Version) => Yes, use Database version 10.2.0.3
By * Identity Management 10.1.4.0.1 (OID/SSO) -----> u mean (Application Server infrastructure) => Yes, use Identity Management 10.1.4.0.1 instead of the infrastructure on Application Server 10.1.2.0.2
By * Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 -----> u mean (Middle Tire Forms&Report Services) => Yes, use Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 as middle-tier. When installed, upgrade it to 10.1.2.2 (with the latest patchset)
By * Patch Application Server DB client to 10.1.0.5 ----> u mean what? => Before you upgrade AS to 10.1.2.2 it's mandatory to upgrade the Database client software in the Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 home to 10.1.0.5. Default is 10.1.4. You'll see database client version by for instance starting SQL*Plus.
For your Developer (Forms) upgrade: Forms 4.0/4.5 - 6i -> 10g. See: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/upgrade/index.html. If you have tons of Forms, then I recommend using a tool like the great PITTS.CON (http://www.pitss.com/en/pcon/index.htm).

How to avoid error while install oracle developer suite10g(forms & reports)
hi dear all in recent times i am trying to install oracle developer suite 10g to learn forms and reports in my lap having windows 7 ultimate version ,32 bit,2.56 GB of ram .I downloaded two files ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1 and ds_window_x86_101202_disk2 and i downloaded Oracle universal Installer but i am unable to complete installation process ,When i click on complete(1.11gb) version which include forms, reports, xml,j developer I am facing this type of error message
"Install has encountered an error while attempting to verify your virtual settings.please verify that the sum of the initial sizes of the paging files is at least 256 mb"
Could any one help how to avoid this type of error message ? or else is there any other way to download Oracle forms and reports versionOk, Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g (Forms/Reports) was not designed for Windows 7. In order to the ODS you must follow these steps for the installation to be successful.
1. You must set the Virtual Memory (VM) size. The Oracle installer can not read Windows Managed VM. See the Microsoft article Change the size of virtual memory for more information on setting the VM size.
2. The Oracle Installer does not recognize the internal version number of Windows 7, so you have to set the compatibility mode on the Setup.exe to Windows XP. Right-Click the SETUP.EXE and select properties. Then click the Compatibility Tab and in the Compatibility Mode area set this to "Run this program in compatibility mode" and select "Windows XP SP3".
3. You must run the ODS setup.exe as the Administrator. Right-click the setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
Having done these three steps, your installation should be successful.
Hope this helps,
Craig B-)

Oracle client and... Forms&reports client?
Hello, to all; may be you could help me:
I have installed a Oracle 9.2.0.6 database in PC-1, in PC2 I want to install the oracle client and the forms and report client... (I mean, PC2 is the PC where I will copy my Forms 6i client/server application and the idea is to put an direct access icon on the desktop to a .fmx... to be able run my application)
I've already insalled the Oracle client, only runtime version (I think 9.2.0.1, which was included in the oracle database installation cd's) but .. I need one more thing.. because I can't execute forms.. I need ifrun60.exe I think.. Where is it? Is there any forms & reports 6i client or similar? or is necessary to install the developer 6i (I don't think so.. but...)
Thank you very much
Jose.I was reading lots of post and I've seen this two from 2001 related to Forms 5, I suposse they're applicable to Forms 6i?
Forms Client Runtime : where are you ?
Enviado: 27-sep-2001 15:34 Responder
Which version can I install as a pure client version of Forms 6i on a light desktop ? Is there a Forms client runtime like there was with the versions 5.0 and earlier, which we could use just to run a Form, without using any web server, Forms werver, nor using the extra/inter/intra-net ?
Thanx for your help !!
Eric.
re:Forms Client Runtime : where are you ?
Enviado: 27-sep-2001 17:58 en respuesta a: eheede Responder
Yes there is. Just choose Form/Report Server installation and choose customs. There you can choose Form or report runtime only (under Forms and Reports tree node) and click on install!
Remember to choose customs install so that oracle installer bring you the list of the component.
Do you agree? Could it be just begin the Forms&reports installation and after that.. Chosoe custom.. an choose to install runtimes?
(I'll try tomorrow and I will say the result here) I hope it works!!

Oracle Options licensed 1:1 with Oracle Ent. Edition 11gR2 or by Instance?
Are Oracle Options licensed 1:1 with Oracle Ent. Edition 11gR2 (e.g. by CPU core multiplier) or by number of database instances on a host? In other words, if I need to purchase two Oracle Enterprise Edition licenses for a single host, do I need to purchase the same number of Oracle Option licenses (again, based on a CPU core multiplier). Or by the number of Oracle database instances installed on that host?
Anyone have a link to an official Oracle options licensing document that spells this out? Found one for 11g but it didn't get down into the weeds, saying if there was any difference between # of licenses required for an Option vs. a license for Oracle Enterprise Edition itself.
Requested Oracle option licensing referenceThey are licensed 1:1 with EE, so 4 EE licenses means 4 Partitioning Option licenses, etc.
It is in the Oracle Store.

Ntp Server for Oracle 11gr2 (oracle clusterware) on HP-UX
we are planning to configure a ntp server on Windows 2003 server for our Oracle 11gr2 RAC (2 nodes) on HP-UX but we have some issues to be clear. Following are the details for our environment.
RAC : Oracle Clusterware (2 nodes)
Database : 11gr2

Hardware: HP Intergrity Blade Servers BL860c i2
ntp server : HP Proliant
if our ntp server fails how the both nodes will manage the time?if our ntp server fails how the both nodes will manage the time?Use NTP insure that all cluster nodes must be synchronized to the same time ,in 9i , 10g and 11gR2 Oracle Clusterware includes the Cluster Time Synchronization Service (CTSS) . On startup Clusterware checks for a NTP configuration, if found, CTSS goes into Observer mode. This means it will monitor the clock synchronization and report in the Oracle Clusterware alert log if it finds a problem. If it does not find a NTP configuration, CTSS will be active .

HELP! Can not install Oracle 8.1.5 w/ RedHat 6.1!
I can not get Oracle 8.1.5 to install onto Linux RedHat 6.1. The
Oracle installation script generates several errors. I have
tried several attempts, using different options, but they all
generate errors.
Please help. The Oracle Installation scripts appear to be very
buggy... or perhaps they are incompatible with the standard
RedHat 6.1 release. Either way, it is very frustrating.
I have documented one of my (failed) installation attempts below.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
I am installing Oracle onto a Dell Latitude CPi PC w/ 128MB RAM,
a 366MHz Pentium II, and RedHat 6.1 (using the standard Linux
2.2.12-2 kernel). RedHat was installed using the standard "Gnome
Workstation" configuration.
The Oralce CD is labeled:
"Oralce 8i Enterprise Edition
Release 8.1.5
for Linux
(c) Oracle Corporation 1999"
I got this CD about one week ago at Oracle OpenWorld '99 in Los
Angeles... it should be their "latest & greatest" version so far.
1. Pre-Installation and ./runInstall
I created an "oracle" Unix account w/ groups "oinstall" (the
primary group) and "dba" (a secondary group).
I created directories /u01 through /u04, belonging to oracle.
I setup .cshrc and sourced it, containing:
umask 022
setenv DISPLAY `hostname`:0
xhost +
setenv ORACLE_BASE /u01/app/oracle
setenv ORACLE_HOME ${ORACLE_BASE}/product/8.1.5
setenv ORACLE_SID cprtest
setenv PATH ${ORACLE_HOME}/bin:${PATH}
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH ${ORACLE_HOME}/lib
setenv NLS_LANG US7ASCII
I downloaded jre116_v5 and installed to /usr/local/jre.
Finally, I executed (from the "oracle" Unix account):
cd /mnt/cdrom
./runInstall
Problem: I got the error (from ./runInstall):
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre.
Please wait...
Error in CreateOUIProcess(): -1
: Bad address
Workaround: Executed the following commands instead:
cd /mnt/cdrom/install/linux
./runIns.sh
3. runIns.sh and root.sh
I selected the following options (from ./runIns.sh):
Source: /mnt/cdrom/stage/products.jar
Destination: /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5
Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition 8.1.5.0.0
Typical (585MB)
Installable Components: Oralce Intelligent Agent 8.1.5.0.0
Global Database Name: cprtest.parkrussell.com
SID: cprtest
Directory for Database Files: /u02
Then (when instructed by ./runIns.sh), I attempted to execute
(from the
"root" Unix account):
cd /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5
./root.sh
Problem: I got the error:
"bash: ./root.sh: Permission denied"
The execute bit was not set.
Workaround: I executed:
chmod a+x root.sh
./root.sh
5. Configuration Tools
The Oracle Installer (./runIns.sh) attempted to execute:
A. Net8 Configuration Agent
B. Oracle Database Configuration Agent
Problem: The "Oracle Database Configuration Agent" failed with
the following error message:
"One or more tools have failed. It is recommended but not
required that these tools succeed for this installation.
You can now select these tools, read its details to examine
why they have failed, fix those problems, and retry them.
Or, you can click "Next" to continue."
When I selected the "Oracle Database Configuration Agent" for
more info, I got the following additional details (as the cause
of the error):
"A required command line argument is missing."
The log file
"/u01/app/oracle/oraInventory/logs/installActions.log" recorded:
"Command which is being spawned is /usr/local/jre/bin/jre
-Duser.dir=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/assistants/dbca/jlib

Invalid Exit Code. The following result code will be used for
configuration tool: 1
Configuration tool Oracle Database Configuration Assistant
failed"
Workaround: There is obviously nothing I can do to fix this
problem. It appears to be an internal bug in ./runIns.sh.
Therefore, I selected "Next" and executed "dbassist" directly.
6. dbassist
I executed:
dbassist
Problem: I got the following error:
"JNLS Execution:oracle.ntpg.jnls.JNLSException
Unable to find any National Character Sets. Please
check your Oracle installation."
Workaround: Press "OK" and ignore the error.
7. dbassist (cont.)
I selected the following options:
Create database
Typical
Copy existing database files from the CD
Global Database Name: cprtest.parkrussell.com
SID: cprtest
Problem: I got the following error:
"CD-ROM drive not detected on this system.
Database not created."
(Note: I've been running the installation scripts from the
CDROM drive this entire time. "df" shows the CDROM drive
mounted on /mnt/cdrom. "ls /mnt/cdrom" works too.)
Workaround: Abort (which generated the additional error: "Unable
to create database. DBCA-00003: No CD-ROM drive detected.") and
run dbassist again, this time using different parameters.
8. dbassist, again
I executed "dbassist" again and selected the following options:
Create database
Typical
Create new database files
Hybrid
Concurrently connected users: 5
Options: Oralce interMedia, Oralce JServer, and iM demos
Global Database Name: cprtest2.parkrussell.com
SID: cprtest2
Create database now
Problem: I got the following error:
"ORA-01012: not logged on"
Workaround: Try, try again.
9. dbassist, one last time
Executed "dbassist" once more and selected the following options:
Create database
Typical
Create new database files
Hybrid
Concurrently connected users: 5
Options: Oralce interMedia, Oralce JServer, and interMedia
demos
Global Database Name: cprtest3.parkrussell.com
SID: cprtest3
Output creation script
Then, I executed (from the "oracle" Unix account):
cd /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/install
setenv ORACLE_SID cprtest3
./sqlcprtest3.sh
Problem: I got the following output:
"Oracle Server Manager Release 3.1.5.0.0 - Production
(c) Copyright 1997, Oracle Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production

Workaround: Beats me.
10. sqlplus
I attempted to execute sqlplus, but got the following error
message:
"/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin/sqlplus: Permission denied."
The execute bit was not set.
Workaround: I executed:
chmod a+x /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin/sqlplus
sqlplus
I gave up for now... there were just too many things wrong with
this installation, starting with the very first command I was
supposed to execute (./runInstaller).
I can't fathom why Oracle's installation script has so many bugs.
Am I just doing something terribly wrong?
Please help.
nullI'm using enlightenment version 0.15.5-41, which is more recent
than the 0.15.5-37 version (containing the Oracle installer
patch) that you recommended. Unfortunately, it fails when using
this version.
I also tried installing Oracle using twm, with enlightenment
disabled. This didn't help either.
Furthermore, the errors that I'm encountering in the OUI are
not just toward the end of the installation. They happen from
the very beginning, right after I enter "./runInstall", and
continue every step of the way.

Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Linux x86-64.
I have installed weblogic 10.3.5 generic jar file.
When i try to install forms and reports server the configuration step fails while creating weblogic domain.
Please help me installing portal and reports.
Is there any patch i am missing or the weblogic version is incorrect?
Thanks. You cannot configure Fmw 11.1.1.2 against WLS 10.3.5. They are not supported nor compatible.
If you want to use WLS 10.3.5, you need to "install" 11.1.1.2, but do not configure. That is an installation option. After you have successfully installed 11.1.1.2 you will need to patch it to 11.1.1.6. After patching, you then can run the configuration (config.bat).
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/install.1111/e10421/install.htm#CLINS256
Version 11 is far more complex than previous versions. I strongly encourage everyone to review the product documentation before trying to install. You can also refer to the following MyOracleSupport note:

Link/checklist for migrating applications from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g?Help
Hi all,
We need to perform an impact analysis on migratiing an application from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g. Does any of you have a detailed checklist to follow, in terms of queries, PL/SQL statements, optimizer etc. etc., when attempting this migration. We require something more specific from the application point of view rather than a DBA point of view.
Additionally, we have queries written extensively with rule hints. Should there be a special consideration for the same since now we are moving to CBO in 11g
Even if any one has a link, that would help. Thank you so much!Hi Nikhil,
Thanks Xaheer,You're welcome :)
I'm going through the link: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10819/toc.htm
But it still mentions stuff from a DBA angle. I need from an application angle.
Do I need to change my queries taht are current written with RBO? Do I need to change Pl/SQL blocks ?Please refer tech below notes:
*1)TROUBLESHOOTING: Server Upgrade Results in Slow Query Performance -- 160089.1*
*2)TESTING SQL PERFORMANCE IMPACT OF AN ORACLE 9i TO ORACLE DATABASE 10g RELEASE 2 UPGRADE WITH SQL PERFORMANCE ANALYZER -- 562899.1*
Before upgrading your production database, please perform upgrade of test database and do complete testing.
Hope helps

kindly help out on the reason for this error and detailed steps to solve this issueNAIJA-EXBOY wrote:
That is how the error appears when you use the GUI utility for the logminer to query the alert logs,
Does anybody have ideas on how logminer utility works using this software "SQL Assistant for oracle""SQL Assistant for Oracle" doesn't seem to be a tool provided by Oracle, but a third-party tool. Therefore I suggest you contact their technical support for your inquiry.
As a workaround, as already suggested, you might want to use the DBMS_LOGMNR package to use the LogMiner. It's not that complicated at all and just needs a couple of calls to the DBMS_LOGMNR and optionally DBMS_LOGMNR_D packages. You can check the documentation on how to use it.
If you have Oracle Enterprise Manager you could access the LogMiner interface using the Java Console version prior to 11g.

Need a help on implemening SAML with Oracle Service Bus
We are implementing Webservice security using SAML with Oracle Service Bus for our project. We are in dire need of help in implementing the same. We have found some documents (osb console help, osb security) from the oracle web site but those documents have high-level details only. If we get the step-by-step flow and examples of implementing the Webservices security using SAML with Oracle Service Bus, it would be appreciated.
Requirement details:
1. Client application has to generate the SAML assertion (token) and pass that token to the OSB proxy service in a SOAP header along with the request.
2. OSB proxy service gets the authentication token from the inbound request
3. The token is passed to an SAML Identity Assertion provider and validate the token
4. If the token is validated successfully then pass the valid token to appropriate business services.
5. Business services communicates the appropriate external web services after validating the token and gets the response.
Environment details:
1. Oracle Weblogic Application Server 10g3
2. Oracle Service Bus 10g3

Need help -- Oracle Financial 11i vs r12 (Oracle Payable and Oracl Payment)
Dear all
I'm newbie in Oracle Application and request for your help to answer my questions.
Background:
Three years ago, my company was planning to implement ERP Oracle Financials.
To facilitate the plan, an open bidding was established to find the best implementing company with affordable price.
The bidding document was created when Oracle Financials was 11i.
When the contract was signed 2 years ago, by my company and the winning company, it is mentioned that the version installed must be the latest one.
At the response to requirements, the winning company stated that the payment activity will be facilitated by Oracle Payable.
Now, the project is going on and the Oracle has the r.12 version.
Problem:
At 11i, there was only one module related to payment activities, i.e. Oracle Payable.
At r.12, Oracle has a new modul, i.e. Oracle Payment, which was subdomain of Oracle Payable.
Question:
1. Is my opinion about the relationship between Oracle Payable and Oracle Payment above correct?
2. Does my company has its right to ask for Oracle Payment in the installation?
3. If the answer to number 2 is yes, what is the base for it?
Thank you for explanation.
Sorry if I raise a too-simple question.
Regards,
Dodydh
Edited by: 840286 on 28-Feb-2011 03:28Hi Dodydh,
I am afraid, your statement 'At r.12, Oracle has a new modul, i.e. Oracle Payment, which was subdomain of Oracle Payable.' is not correct.
Oracle Payments is an upgrade version of Oracle iPayments of 11i and this module is expected to serve Self service modules. But Payment Batches which is part of Oracle Payables has been moved to Oracle Payments.
You can very well ask them to implement Payment Batches (Processes relating to Funds Disbursement) but not the entire module.
Please let me know if you require further info.

Sridhar
