Re: HELP! Registry entries deleted since Windows crash. How to restore?

Hi All:
My server has experienced a registry crash. My MaxDB (ECA) was working perfectly before then. I restored the registry but this was prior to the install of ECA [ECC 6.0].
Now all the entries for the ECA db is missing;
"dbmcli -d ECA" yields no such DB.
I have no backup of the DB, but all the OS files for the DB and all environment variables are present.
How do I get back this DB and all registry settings?
Thanks
Tony.

Hi Tony,
sounds like this is quite similar to what I've proposed in this thread: How to recover data and log
But first I propose you copy the database related config files (/sapdb/data/config/, /sapdb/data/wrk/) to some other place (just to have a backup in case anything goes wrong).
After that, reinstall the MaxDB Software via SBDINST. Make sure you choose the very same installation paths as you've done before.
Once the database software is installed again, you can reregister your database via db_create... as I've described it in the other forum thread.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have an Early 2008 Mac Pro. You have the specs that your Mac Pro needs for more memory > https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4433#4 As you can read, that computer should have come with 2 GB of memory.
You can buy memory at OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Mac-Pro-Memory#800-memory Those sell compatible memory with all Macs. You can use another memory, but you can be sure that the memory that these brands sell are compatible

  • Deleted the Registry Entry for OracleJobScheduler service. How to recreate?

I accidently deleted the registry entry for the OracleJobScheduler Service for my production database. I know I shouldn't have -- but I was re-creating the console and clicked on the wrong thing.
Is there a way to recreate the service? I copied the registry entry from another database, but the service isn't showing up in the Services window. I know how to create services using the NT Kit, but I am not certain how I need to set it up.
    Thanks in advance,
    DJM

I do not think you needed it. But in case you want to put it back, export OracleJobScheduler<SID> from any other windows database server, open and edit it in wordpad to change servicename, ImagePath and DisplayName, then import into this server.

  • Missing registry entry with v7u10 - Windows - Firefox

Is Oracle aware that Firefox isn't recognising Java for some users after updating to v7u10 due to a missing registry entry?

Sigh. No, I'm looking for an answer.
I really don't want to have to figure a bug reporting system unless I absolutely have to.
Alternatively, a solution would be nice.

I have to agree, fixing something that was working fine and replacing it with the new crap has led me to switch browsers.BIG FAIL MOZILLA

Turn off updating to keep your good working version or you will be forced to use the new version that is missing some well used features.

  • Help! Accidentally deleted my Windows 8 partition. Can I recover it?

    Hi all,
    I have a bit of a problem.
While I was trying deleting/formatting a USB stick connected to my rMBP, I accidentally selected the windows partition on my HDD instead of the USB. I then preceded to rename and click "erase," just before realising what I'd done!
As you can imagine, I was pretty annoyed with myself, but I hoped that I was mistaken and booting into windows would would work as normal... This didn't happen. Is there anything I can do to get back to 'the old days' and recover my Windows instalation/partition?
Any help you can give will be greately appreciated.
    Thanks.

If you had sensitive data on that partition, then you'll have to make the decision of how much money it's worth to get it all back via recovery software or a recovery service like OnTrack.  If all that was on there was Windows 8 and some programs you can easily reload (i.e. your only cost is your time), then just reload it like you did originally through the BootCamp wizard.  If this is the case, consider it a learning experience and move on.  I once deleted the Microsoft User Data folder from my Documents folder thinking (What's this doing here...) lol.  You can imagine how surprised I was when I started Outlook and nothing was there.  I was like... SOB!

  • Hard drive crash - How to restore data from my iPod?

    Hi there,
I had to replace the hard disk and in my daughter's PC and now need to get the songs back from her iTouch to her computer. As you can imagine, I had no backup prior to this hard drive crash... Now how can I get the songs and applications from the iTouch back in the PC? I have authorized iTunes using the same account but it does not allow me to do any tranfer from the Itouch to the PC.
Please help... I don;t want to loose everything we have purchase and installed on the iTouch...
    Thanks,

That post of mine linked to above is quite an old one and isn't meant to specifically address an iPod Touch. You might want this more up to date information.
If your iPod is set to sync automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.

  • HT2966 I changed a repeating event and this ****** DELETED 10 events. How to restore this from timemachine backup?

On the iPhone you can change how many times an event is repeated. I changed that number from 10 to 11 and it automatically deleted all my 10 events and replaced the valuable notes with *nothing*.
I do daily backups with timemachine, but cant seem to find a way to restore the events - since I already made a lot of changes today.
next question: is there an ical alternative, which is actually safe to use for business?

For anyone else that may be in a similar situation, I can confirm that this does actually work.
I am unsure why I was not able to mount the original sparseimage that I copied to the USB drive before, but I have gone through the entire process again and I could successfully mount the TM sparseimage onto my MacBook and restore files from within it using TimeMachine to my Mac.
This is a Disaster Recovery solution only needed for if both my NAS and Macbook get stolen or damaged so I am happy with this solution for now.
I will try the restore process several more times from my monthly backups to reassure myself that the first failure to mount the sparse image was an anomaly.
This is the process that I have tested:
Configure MacBook to backup to TimeMachine Service running on QNAP NAS device.
Perform regular backup of QNAP NAS Device (Linux) including the TimeMachine backup data to an external USB drive with encryption enabled and store this device safely off-site
In time of loss of both NAS and MacBook, Time Machine data can be recovered to another Mac without the need of the NAS  using the following process:
Mount the external drive containing the backup of the NAS filesystem (ext4) which is encrypted onto a Linux host so it is readable - use the cryptsetup luksOpen options to access the encrypted filesystem then mount it.
Mount a n empty HFS+ formatted USB drive  on the Linux host
Use Rsync to copy the sparsebundle from the external NAS drive backup disk to the root of the USB Drive
Insert the HFS+ formatted USB containing the sparesbundle into the Mac's USB port
Double click the sparsebundle to mount it onto the Mac as a Volume
Using Alt button and the TimeMachine icon, select use alternative backup disk and you should see the TM backup in the sparsebundle
Enter TimeMachine and you should be able to restore any/all files
Hope that helps someone else and thanks to LaPastenague for pointing me in the direction of some of the answers I needed.
    Rgds

  • I deleted a pages dokument how can restore it?

hello i have a big problem, maybe somebody can help me.
today i created a new pages dokument on the pc at i cloud, later i deleted the documet (also with the pc), but this was a big mistake.
is there a way to restore the document?
    please help me
    thank you very much

There is no trash folder on icloud.  On the mac, copies of icloud files are stored in the following folder(s)
    ~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolders where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
Now use Time Machine to find versions of the missing file(s).

  • Garageband crash - how to restore recorded tracks

Well, today i had to record a very important concert via my new MacBook Air and after the recording was done Garageband simply crashed.
I tried to find some .temporary files or anything on the computer, that could contain my recorded material but failed.
Please, I hope there is a way to restore the lost tracks? Perhaps, well, I am sure, that they were recorder in the memory, on the Hard Drive and that there is a way to get them back. Perhaps there is a special program that can help restoring.
    Please advise,
    thanks!

Can you find the Garageband file that was recording the concert? For example, was it called "My Song" or whatever you named it?
Anyway, if you've located that GB file, control-click on it, which will bring up a menu. Choose "show package contents" which will open up a folder of everything that's in that file (the GB file is actually a folder, but ordinarily looks like a single file for simplicity). Inside the GB folder are subfolders. Raw audio recordings are stored in the one called "Media." If your audio was recorded until the crash, it may be somewhere in there.
    Good luck!

  • Computer crashed - How to restore playlist/credit?

My PC crashed and we had to reformat the hard drive. Our nano has hundreds of songs on it. In addition, we had a credit on Itunes from gift cards. How do I recover the gift card amount to my acocunt, and how do I get Itunes to recognize my Ipod and my songs again??? I am lost!!! Help!!

Start iTunes, go to the Store menu, and Authorize the computer and your gift card credit will be back.
iTunes should recognize your iPod when you connect it to the computer. I do hope you had your music backed up somewhere. If you did not, and you are asking how to transfer your music from your Nano to the computer, read the post from Zevoneer in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5334878&#5334878

  • Hard drive crashed - how to restore iTunes

A bad sector hung up my hard drive. I have a new drive now, but need to restore iTunes and songs. I have almost all my songs backed up on an external drive. SO if I download iTunes and the add in the songs will I be good and can I synch between iTunes and teh iPod? I can't turn my iPod into a hard drive since I lost the drive in the computer with no warning.
Also, there were a coule songs that I had just bought from Apple, they were not backed up is there any way to get those back into iTunes? Thanks.

*there were a cou(p)le songs that I had just bought from Apple, they were not backed up is there any way to get those back into iTunes?*
The policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

  • External Drive crashed-how to restore from Time Machine?

I've been using TM to back up my internal, as well as an external drive. The external has been acting a bit flaky the past week or so, and I think it just bit the dust. How do I go about just restoring the data that was on it to a new external HD? I don't want to affect the internal HD at all. TIA.

Do not use exactly the same name for the new drive. Once your replacement drive is properly formatted, connected, and mounted, turn TM off and just open a Finder window and +Enter Time Machine.+ Navigate to the last backup before the old drive died, and select your computer name in the Finder's sidebar.
That should produce a list of folders representing both the internal and external drives. Select the external and click the "gear" icon in the Finder sidebar. Select +Restore <item> to ...+ and you'll get a prompt where you can select the new drive as the destination. The restore will, of course, take a while.
Be warned that when your turn TM back on, it will back-up everything on the new drive, so it will be lengthy and take a lot of room on your TM drive. You cannot prevent this, unfortunately.
