Re: HOW TO REVERT TO BT YAHOO! CLASSIC MAIL

Unfortunately I'd been pushed into accepting the new version a while back and so changing screen resolution made no difference.  BUT, I have found a solution:  Turn off Java Scripting and then open IE and go into your Yahoo Mail.  This time it did give me the option to revert to Classic Mail.  I did this and then turned Java Scripting back on.  I closed and reopened IE to test it and yahoo, it's worked!  I can now see a date again next to my e-mails which makes far more sense than just a day of the week!  Thank you all for your help.

Hi.
That is the the exact method I have on my shortcuts (link below) option 23.
Depending on the version of IE used, it might need a different way to access the javascript option.

    Dear Sirs,
in Windows XP SP3, using Firefox 7 nor 7.0.1 , none of buttons shown at the top row by Gmail or Yahoo Classic Mail works and even I cannot do a sign out of my email box . I had not this problem when using Mozilla Firefox 6 series and earlier .
By the way , I never face with such a problem if I use Internet Explorer version 8 on the same personal computer .
Finally , a week ago I upgraded my Sun JAVA to the latest version 6u29 on the same PC . Today , I uninstalled it and after restarting my PC I installed an old version of jre-6u22-windows-i586-s.exe but still I have the above-mentioned problem .

  • New Version of BT Yahoo Classic Mail Major problem

I have tried to use the new version of BT Yahoo Mail & have encountered a major problem.
When I select any area of the new mail page I get a message that says "E Mail out of Memory Line 1"
My computer then locks up totally, & I have to turn of with the on/off switch & restart.
I have now gone back to using the original Classic mail, but, I find that if I select a e mail address from a web site this is automatically placed in the New Classic mail system, & again I get the message & lock up.
I have contacted India, & got nowhere! She said I had too many e mails stored on my system! I actually have 3726, so I think she is wrong
    Help please
Should I just stick with the old version of the mail system?
Is there anybody in BT interested in the problem?
Will the original Classic mail continue for ever?
    Solved!

    I was advised to phone 0800 633 5335 Option 2, & they would action.
I did this & I have been transferred back to the old Classic Mail system
They then advised that I should wait at least one month before trying to reinstall the new system.

Huge thanks to you Johnoo, had been struggling for two days after upgrading from BT Yahoo Classic to new version, and had just reached the end of my tether so to speak!!!
Followed instructions above - although Option 2 refers to 'Dial Up'? - and requested transfer back to Classic.  Contact centre operative seemed to understand perfectly
I confirmed ID and she held on while I accessed mail account, took about a minute from start to finish!  Very happy

  • How do I get BT Yahoo Premium Mail?

I am about to move from BT to another broadband provider, but I want to keep my btinternet email address. I understand I need to move to (and presumably pay for) BT Yahoo Premium Mail (I am on BT Yahoo Mail not BT Mail) but I can't find out how to do that?

You can call BT on 0800.100.6778 who should be able to move it for you or see this link

  • How do I access my yahoo e-mail?

I set the iPad up to access my yahoo e-mail account but it says the account may not be able to send or receive e-mail and there are no messages in the Inbox, It later displays a message that it cannot connect to the yahoo server. Meanwhile, on my PC, I'm connected to the yahoo server and e-mail is working fine. Why can't the iPad get at that account on yahoo?

I'm stumped.  I don't recall ever having to make any changes on the Yahoo server.
Try this.  First, if you've added yahoo as a mailbox, go into Settings > Mail and delete the Yahoo entry.  Then click out of settings to your home page.  I'd suggest you reboot your iPad.  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  You won't lose any data or settings.
Then try to add your Yahoo mailbox again.  I know this is a stupid question, but you are using your correct email address and password?  This time skip the box that asks for your name and just type in your email address and password.  You can put anything you want in the Last box.  Like your name and Yahoo, or just Yahoo.
If this doesn't help, I hope someone else will chime in as I'm out of suggestions.

  • HOW TO REVERT TO BT YAHOO! CLASSIC MAIL

This solution can be found buried in various threads elsewhere in the forums, and thanks are due to the posters. But so many people have issues with the All-New Mail that I thought it might be helpful to draw attention to it under a specific title. Maybe the forum managers will decide it deserves to be a sticky?
If you still have the Classic version you will be able to toggle to and from All-New. But if, like me, you fell for the recent BT Yahoo! email inviting you to upgrade, that facility is not included. The solution is a workaround involving a temporary change in computer screen resolution. Before doing this you may wish to take a screenshot of your desktop or make a note of it, because changing resolution can result in a shuffle. You could instead do the job automatically by downloading IconRestorer. Be aware also that pages are likely to cramped so that a bit of scrolling is necessary to find a particular place.
    1. While logged out of BT Yahoo! reduce the screen resolution to something like 800x600. The way to do this varies but it usually starts with a right-click on the desktop.
    2. Log in to BT Yahoo! and select Mail. You will get a page announcing that your screen resolution is too low for the All-New Mail. At bottom right there are options including one to revert permanently to a previous version (ie Classic). Choose it.
    3. Close your browser, reset your native screen resolution and unshuffle icons as necessary.
    4. Job done! You will also now have the facility to toggle, and may wonder why it was not provided at the outset.

Sorry, That has not worked. I am using a MacBook with Leopard OS.
The new look email, which I foolishly clicked is dreadful. Before, it was possible to simply view a picture attached to an email, now I have to download it to the Download folder before I can view it. Before the header bar told you there were 0 unread mails. I don't want to have to read the News before I can get to my inbox. There are so many things wrong.
The previous system, "Yahoo- All New Mail" worked well and simply. I would like to revert to that - anyone know how to uninstall this nightmare?
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
You can have it go to your Inbox on start up - via Options/Mail Options/General. There's a tick box near the top Inbox - show in startup. You need to close this options tab down in order to save the changes. Hovering over the Options word on the tab will reveal a little cross which can be clicked.
See if the following (similar to the PC resolution reduction) works :-

  • How do I open a Yahoo E-mail attachment?

When I try to open an e-mail attachment (by touching the attachment and getting a pop-up that asks me if I want to view or save the attachment), no matter which I choose, it goes to the "loading" progress bar, and then I get this message:  Sorry, an error occurred. Please try again.  If this error persists, there may be a problem with the file you are trying to access.
Have tried with multiple documents, so I do not believe the error is with the file.

Great news!  The Yahoo Mail Update fixed the problem.
Now, how to I sync my Facebook Contacts with my new Droid?  The old one did it easily...

  • HOW TO RECOVER BT YAHOO! CLASSIC MAIL

The thread I started some weeks ago HOW TO REVERT TO BT YAHOO! CLASSIC MAIL was potentially confusing and was overtaken by events anyway. This fresh post hopefully clarifies and brings it up to date.
If like me you fell for the recent invitation to upgrade to the "best BT Yahoo! Mail ever" (allegedly) there is no built-in facility to change your mind and revert. But it is possible to recover Classic through a workaround involving a temporary change in computer screen resolution. Alas the previous facility to toggle between Classic and its immediate successor All-New Mail has been removed. The link to All-New now just brings up another invitation to upgrade to "best ever", effectively making it impossible to recover All-New.
Before proceeding you may wish to take a screenshot of your desktop or make a note of it, because changing the resolution often results in an icon shuffle. (You can do the job automatically by downloading IconRestorer.) Be aware also that pages are likely to cramped during the process so a bit of scrolling may be necessary to find a particular place.

The ever helpful BT email online help told me to use the option on the right hand side to revert. When I told them there was no such option they said there was.
The last time I looked at the latest version there was certainly no such option. I mentioned at the start of this thread that it used to be possible to toggle between Classic Mail and its immediate successor All-New Mail, but Yahoo! are not making it so easy this time. That's believed to be because the latest version allows them to use information for targeted advertising (see this thread: http://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-Queries/Yahoo-snooping-on-personal-emails-BT-too/m-p/196175#M458...).

  • Keeping BT Yahoo! Classic Mail from 4 February

For some weeks, those of us who want to keep Classic Mail have been exhorted to upgrade to the new BT Yahoo! Mail, despite it having been the source of many problems. The latest effort on the webmail site has been a big stopwatch with an ominous warning about the countdown to 04-02-2012, but no indication of what was going to happen on that date. As it's tomorrow I dug deeper.
The small print alongside the stopwatch contains an option to stay with Classic Mail, which you have to choose to proceed without upgrading. It also contains this link: str cfg_branding_mail. I clicked that and found a further option to keep Classic Mail; choosing that makes the warnings and exhortations disappear, and subsequent visits take you direct to Classic Mail. Surprise, surprise! [NB. If you click the link from here, you have to sign in first.]
So it looks as if the warnings were not as ominous as they seemed, and Yahoo! may be giving up the strong-arm tactics. We'll find out tomorrow if I've spoken too soon and they had something up their sleeve along with the strong arm!

That was my perception. I've been clicking that link every time. I tried the "new" mail months ago, and it was so poor I reverted and have resisted ever since.
As ectophile said on the Countdown thread :
In reality this whole charade is because Yahoo desparately wants you to agree to their new Terms & Conditions that allow them to read your mail and pass information about your interests to advertisers.
If they just wanted you to get a better email system they would just have upgraded it.
No way will I agree to their new T&Cs.

  • Yahoo Classic and Windows Mail

Hello,   I am new to this board and NOT a techie, hence my enquiry.
In 2009 I changed PC's and had xferred contents of XP to current Vista including Outlook Express.
A couple of months ago I noticed OE had vanished and replaced by Windows Mail.  Fine except address book was missing from WM.   In the last few days I note Windows LIVE mail is also active, but without address book being xferreed.
In general I only used OE in order to xfer mail to Document file since I could not establish how to drag mail from  Yahoo classic to documents.     Am I able to xfer address book from yahoo to windows mail.
    Many thanks

Open Windows Mail, go to File, Import, Windows Contacts and you should be able to transfer your e-mail contacts and settings. However, it SHOULD have happened automatically !
One thing I'm puzzled about - you should never have been able to use Outlook Express with Vista, as neither it nor Windows 7 have ever supported Outlook Express ( most users are still cursing Microsoft's decision to ditch Outlook Express ).
    Good Luck
