RE: ideapad u310 touch hinge

so im going to have to fix my hinge myself... problem is i see multiple hinge types when i go to order. can anyone who had this problem send me a picture of the correct hinge type or even better send me a page where its on sale so i can buy it http://www.ukpcsparts.com/lenovo-ideapad-u310-touch-lcd-display-hinges-p-41349.html?zenid=0e57435dbffdf8b741deb38bd0bb7975 or http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Lenovo-IdeaPad-U310-Touch-LCD-Display-Hinges-Left-and-Right-/181628676540?_trksid=p2054897.l4275  these are the two types .... please help

I'm not an owner of your model, but in looking over links you have provided, I believe the picture shown in the eBay sale is incorrect.  The hinges pictured in UK PC Parts link would be the correct ones when compared to Page #90 of the diagram shown in your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual and the pictures shown in the additional eBay search I did.  Here are the results...
eBay search:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XIdeaPad+U310+hinge.TRS0&_nkw=IdeaPad+U310+hinge&_sacat=0
Hardware Maintenance Manual:
https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_u310_u410_hmm_1st_edition_mar_2012_english.pdf
If you are still interested in the hinges offered by that eBay seller you might want to send them a message and have them verify that the picture is correct for what they are selling.

  • Ideapad u310 touch, removed screen now computer doesn't work

I recently removed the screen from my ideapad u310 touch, hoping to connect it to a usb monitor to use as the primary display (or to my android tablet for portability).  The hinge for the original screen broke and the screen started cracking so I couldn't close the screen anymore.  Other than that the computer was working perfectly.   Once I removed the screen and put the computer back together, I connected it to my tv using an hdmi cable.  But now when I turn on the computer all I get is a green screen on the tv.   Is the lcd laptop screen vital to the computer functionning or did I perhaps not connect all of the cabkes correctly when I put everything back together?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
I have never tried this with your model, but it can work on some laptops.  Unless someone visiting this message thread has already done it and shares their experience I am afraid you will have to do a little experimenting.  I would disassemble the laptop and plug in the original LCD display and then do the HDMI connection to the TV. See if the TV now has the proper image instead of green.  If it does then power everything down and disconnect the LCD laptop display.  When powered back up then see if the green reappears on the TV.  If it does then try just having the video cable to the laptop screen connected without the laptop's LCD screen connected on the other end and try again.

  • IdeaPad U310 touch: Can no longer enter bios after updating to latest version

I flashed to the latest U310 bios (http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/65cn99ww.exe). I switched to "legacy boot mode" (from UEFI), in an attempt to workaround a driver issue. Now, I'm no longer able to enter BIOS whatsoever. There are plenty of forum posts by many users hitting the same or similar issues on U310/U410/U330 and similar ideapad products. But the resolutions where they exists are either invalid, or involve flashing to 65cn99ww.exe, which is not possible.
    [Environment]
Lenovo IdeaPad U310 touch, Windows 8 (also tried Windows 8.1)
    [What I did]
Flashed BIOS using official Lenovo bits (65cn99ww.exe). No errors occured
Enter BIOS afterwards and change to legacy boot mode (from UEFI)
    [Problem]
Cannot enter BIOS to view or change any settings.
    [Debugging]
Try to enter BIOS by key button sequence.
    1. Tried the following combinations during bootup: F2, Fn+Fn, F10, Fn+F10, F1, Fn+F1, 'B', 'N', Fn+'B', Fn+'N', Delete, Esc.
==> No change in behaviour. I tried each many times in case the timing is important.
    2. Boot by Novo button. This brings up a menu, which includes an entry to enter BIOS. However, choosing that menu entry boots to Windows
    3. Reboot to UEFI firmware settings from Windows (Settings/General/Advanced/UEFI). I can choose to boot to UEFI settings, but ultimately, just boots to Windows 8.
    4. Try to reflash BIOS. Fails with error 182: Version less than or equal. So reflash fails
    5. Try to reflash old BIOS. Flashing fails
    6. Unplug battery from motherboard for 1 minute. No difference in behavior
    7. Boot with SATA disconnected.
    8. Try various flashing options and alternate ways to flash. Not successful
    [Conclusion - BIOS is faulty]
I think this problem can be solved easily with a slightly newer variant of the BIOS being officially released by Lenovo. If someone from Lenovo is reading, can you please open an internal case on this.
Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions from the community. Does anyone know how I can hex edit the bios version #.
    Thanks

    All,
When I navigate to the U310T (touch) on the support site, I'm not finding a BIOS update.
It may be that we have removed it.  The U310 (non-touch) does still show BIOS 65 available here for Windows 8/8.1 and BIOS 21 on the same page for Windows 7.
Is it possible that you have a touch model and applied the non-touch BIOS?

  • HELP Ideapad u310 touch win 7

    Hi everybody
i got this ideapad U310 touch brand new and it came with win 8, then after i bought it i installed a win 7, it was working fine but the windows was asking for a valid prodcut key, i tryed a couple and no luck , so i found another win 7 from a friend with a valid serial , i installed the fist part, restart and finish the installation and then when was about to restart again now it only shows the lenovo logo and restart ,and keep restarting from the lenovo logo.
any help please , because i dont want to install the win 8.
    thank you.

    hi luifej,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If the Installation completed and the product key was accepted , Then you should be able to log back in.
It's possible that the Installation got corrupted
Try Booting in Safemode by tapping F8 when on Lenovo Logo and see if that works.
I would Suggest do another Install of Windows 7 and Try completing it again,
Note: Use a product key that has not yet been used for another computer, WIndows may detect that the key was already used and prevent you from Using It,
If you wan't to get a product Key You might want to call Microsoft and Let them know you need a retail Product key (fees will apply) as this is a different Version of Windows from the Preinstalled.

  • Cracked Screen for Ideapad U310 Touch

Some how my laptop screen broke while in my backpack with only 1 book.  Only the touch glass broke, the lcd behind it still seems to be fine. So now I'm trying to find out what my options are. Is this repairable? can I swap out displays myself? Does a cracked screen make it a total lossss? I found the hardware maintenance manual and searched for the listed display but none found that seem to include a touch screen. Any advice on this would be helpful.

  • How do I reformat a windows 8 laptop with a 24gb SSD properly? (ideapad u310 touch)

I wanted to reinstall windows on my laptop so that I have a clean install (no bloatware) but I didn't want to ruin anything because i'm not too familiar with how express cache works and the other features on my laptop,
Also, windows 8 came preinstalled and I have no CD incase I wipe the hardrives. However, I backuped some drivers that I found in a folder on the SSD onto an external harddrive.
Please help me clean install windows especially when it comes down to settings up partitions and how to properly configure the express cache features to work with the SSD properly for best performace. Thanks

Also why is the ssd split up into these sizes? I thought the entire drive is supposed to be used for expresscache. Or am I wrong?

  • External display no longer being recognized ideapad u310 touch with Win 8.1

Several weeks ago I was able to attach a external monitor with a HDMI to DVI cable and it has been running without any problems until today when I turned on the laptop and nothing came up on the external display. Control panel only shows one display and will not detect the second display. Restarting has not help. No new programs have been added and nothing has been moved. I tried attaching a different external monitor and once again it could not be detected. Where do I go from here?

Anyone have any help or suggestions? Thanks

  • Ideapad U310 touch touch pad not working

    Hello, good evening,
I have had an off-and-on issue with my trackpad not working. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. One moment it will work, the next, it doesn't. I have been bearing with it for months now (plugging in a usb mouse when it won't work for an extended period of time). Today, I stopped working during a timed test (I am a college student), and took 5 minutes to get it to work again. Valuable, precious time that could have meant the difference between an A and the D I ended up with (just kidding that low grade had to do with a refusal to study, but it could have been the cursor refusing to move!).
    Key points:
I know this is not an issue with the function (fn) buttons. Tried that.
I don't think it's drivers, because it works sometimes.
The pad has been crooked since I got it (eg.: the left side is almost higher than the area around it, while the right side is sunken 2mm below the same area. The back appears to be even on both sides.)
    Any ideas?

    hi meagaletr,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Your issue might be similar to this thread.
When the touchpad doesn't work, can you check if the touchpad system icon detects that you're still putting pressure on the pad as shown below:
If you get the same scenario then it's possible that the touchpad is malfunctioning (possibly grounded) and you may need to contact lenovo for service.

  • Extremely high memory usage on ideapad u310

    Hi all,
I've got a problem with my ideapad u310 touch running windows 8.1. When doing completely nothing (just staring at the desktop with no programs running) my laptop uses ~55% of ram. I find this extremely high, when i open a few chrome tabs and listen to some music, maybe open a powerpoint it even rises to 80+%. My Medion erazer laptop(also running 8.1) with 4GB ram uses ~65% with the same usage and ~35% while doing nothing. I deleted almost every lenovo programm except energy management and OneKey recovery and i disabled as much programs as possible on startup but there's almost no difference.
Now, I don't really care about the high percentages but what I do care about is that it gets extremely slow when 80% of the ram is in use. Does anybody know what i can do about this? I already tried the refresh windows option but that didn't help. Or am I just stuck with a device that has very very very poor multitasking performance.

    hi spromper,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Opening Task Manager will show you which application utilizes the RAM.
Also Doing a clean boot will help on freeing up RAM

    Hope this helps

  • Moving win 8.1 to msata ssd on U310 touch

    Hi all;
Just upgraded the 24GB msata to a 120 GB msata and I'm having trouble cloning the hard drive over to the ssd with Clonezilla. The plan is to move the OS to the msata ssd and wiping the original hard dirve and using it for back-up and storage. The BIOS is current set to AHCI with Lagency OS support active but trying UEFI first. I've done this before with win 7 systems; but this is my first foray into win 8.1 w/UEFI. The system does reconize and access the 120 GB Crucial M500 msata disk; it just won't mirror the 8, win-8 partitions. I reinstalled the HD and rebooted the system; to ensure I didn't mess something up and everything seems to be working; though on the slow hard drive.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
PS. I did boot from the USB drive with Clonzillia on it and used the drive to drive cloning option
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Here is what I did for all the issues.
I had installed Ubuntu in this machine. Forgot the steps I did to install Ubuntu. Later I decided to upgrade the machine with 8 GB memory and 250 GB samsung EVO 480 mSATA.  The problem was moving win 8 to mSATA.
The bios had many boot entries
    1. Windows Boot manager
    2. HDD western Digital
    3. Ubuntu
    and many more.
By the way the, machine (with prebuilt win8) has SATA mode in ACHI, Boot mode in UEFI and Secure Boot Enabled and USB boot enabled by default. you can disable secure boot by first setting admin password.
I tried cloning HDD to SSD using Acronis True Image Western Digital version (Its free). But it could not clone rather it added an entry "Acronis loader" in Bios and there is no any way to remove bios entries or at least I could not find the way to remove.
during linux install, I had resized the win OS partition to create Ubuntu partition. I had no issue with the bios at that time. But when I deleted the linux partition, I no longer could access the bios again until I reflashed with bios file given here.  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/U310-can-no-longer-access-bios/td-p/896225...      It really works for U310 touch.
Sorry for my whole story. you probably dont need to bother with the things I said above. Now below is what I did to install windows 8 on mSATA
    A) Created UEFI bootable USB Win 8 install drive
I had win8 pro retail DVD image with serial Key. But in fact, you don't need the serial key. If you find win 8 installation DVD any way, it works because the win8 key is burned in your system Bios (Probably)
    1.  Insert USB drive ( 8GB or more, probably 4 gb works But I had 8)
    2.  make it UEFI bootable
    go to cmd (command prompt)
    diskpart
    list disk
select disk # (# is disk number of USB drive)
    clean
    create partition primary
    select partition 1
    active
    format quick fs=fat32
    assign
    exit
    exit
Now insert win8 installation dvd / mount win8 iso image
go to cmd (command prompt again) and copy the win8 installation files to USB
    xcopy d:\* f:\ /s /e
here d is win8 dvd/ win 8 iso drive letter and f is USB drive letter
    once the copy process finishes,
    exit
turn off the computer. remove the regular HDD. If you don't remove HDD, the new installation will add another boot menu for windows that is already in your HDD.
    3. Insert newly created bootable USB drive
    4. press the NOVO button(One key recovery button), go to bios setup, change the first boot device to USB, disable secure boot. you dont need to change UEFI boot and ACHI SATA operation.
    5. save and exit.
Now your computer boots from the USB drive you created. The installation process starts. select clean install, select mSATA drive.  and wait for the installation to finish. The installation will never ask you to enter the win 8 serial key. as you complete the installation, the win 8 will automatically be activated without all the bloatwares Lenovo ships with their laptop.  In my case, I had win8 pro retail DVD, but the install activated Win8 only.
Delete the win OS partition of HDD but dont delete its recovery partitions in case If you need the recovery in future.
Note: The Recovery  function of NOVO button is now useless. But you can use NOVO button for boot selection and bios setup. In fact, If you have any windows8 installation DVD/image ( you dont need serial key) , the recovery partition of  your laptop is virutally useless as you can always recover your windows by 10 minute installation rather than waiting hours for recovery from recovery partition.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem connecting U310 touch with external monitors/projectors/TV

I spend almost 80% of my day in front of laptop or computers, running simulations, preparing ppts or report.
Liked the looks and light weight of the LENOVO Ultrabook U310 touch laptop so much, that I ended up buying it.
Except for look and light weight the laptop and LENOVO have turned into a big disappointment.
Found the laptop extremely slow.. on top of it, the LCD hinge broke down within few weeks.
The latest problem is with connecting external monitors or projectors. The laptop connects external monitors only if I uninstall driver and reinstall it. The connection is again lost if I reboot, and the driver again needs uninstalling and Reinstalling to connect any external monitor. Appreciate any suggestions
    Best,
    Sudhir

Could be your TV is using DVI-I and apple adapter
    using DVI-D.
Hope this link provide information you need:
    http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html
Looking at the photos provided in this link, here is the details of what I´m using :
    - standard mini-DVI to DVI-D Dual Link (provided by Apple)
    - connector on the TV is DVI-I Dual Link
    - cable provided by LG with the TV is DVI-D Single Link
Reading the comments regarding apple adapter, I came to this : "If you want to hook up some other sort of monitor (analog, DVI-I, ADC), this is not for you, or you may need an additional adaptor. ". I guess I´m in this situation but still don´t know what type of adapter or cable I should use...
Other possible solution : My TV has also HDMI port, I could try a DVI to HDMI cable but it´s quite difficult to find it here (south of spain...)
Does anyone have an idea with these new informations ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Clean install windows 8 on Ideapad U310

    Hi guys,
I have purchased Ideapad U310 couple of months back with Windows 7 home premium installed. Recently I availed the offer. While trying to make a fresh install of Windows 8 I noticed the C drive is not detected. I could not find any solutions to make a smooth & clean install of Windows 8 and will my laptop work without a glitch. Please advise, I am lost.
    Cheers,

In Windows Setup your drives won't be lettered at all. All you get is the partition number (if your laptop is fully stock then the C:\ drive SHOULD be disk 0, part 1) and the size. The drives are mounted as letters within Windows.

  • New Ideapad U310, how to reduce fan speed?

    Hey everyone,
I got a new ideapad U310 this weekend. I'm very happy with it, accept for the fan. It seems to go fast for no reason. I found some old topics on this forum, one with a bios update, but it does not seem to work anymore on the current bios version unfortunately.
Can anyody please help me? The fan noise is very annoying and after 2 days of working with the ideapad I rather have it turned off to get rid of the noise than continue working on it.

    Hi schildpad00
Can you clarify more, which model exaclty you have ( S310 or U310 ) , and also do you play a games while the fan makes that noise
    Please let me know
    Thanks
