Re-Import of LSMW

To All SAP Guru,
Can you help me on this?
I created an LSMW (Project: FI_GUP, Subproject: FI_GUP and Object: FI_UPLOAD) year 2009 and it was working well until August 2011. But today, while the user is using the LSMW, in the "Assign Files", a message prompt says "Define source structures first". I don't know what happened maybe the created lsmw was deleted. My question is, can I do re-import of the particular LSMW from QAS to PRD? If yes, should I delete first the lsmw in PRD before importing or no need for deletion, it will overwrite the existing LSMW?

Hi
While uploading with same name the existing will be over written so you don't need to delete it.
If you require the existing lsmw also then you need to import with separate name.

Dear All,
I have got few LSMWs created in my Dev System and also in SND systems.
Earlier I used the Export-Import mechanism for moving them to Q & P.
However I am facing issues now.
When I try to export the LSMW it opens me windows dialog box with C: drive but instead of showing me Save button,it shows me open button for click.
When I press that it does not do anything.If I select some other location and click this open button LSMW gets exported in file with the message mapping and rules exported successfully..
Now when I try to import the LSMW in another server, it does not import it & gives me error 'No importable information can be found in the file.'
Am I missing anything here ?
I have already done import export successfully couple of times in the past but why I am getting this error ?
Also, why cant I see Save button while exporting to hard drive and why it does not get exported to C: drive which appears default ?
Request you to suggest please.

best way is to create a transport and move it to other enviroments
There are two ways of Transporting for this. Can choose any one.
Goto the LSMW Transaction
1)Extras>Export Projects>(Give the Project name)
In next screen(Choose what subproject, routines, etc.. you wan to copy then, Export Rules-->Export((Will prompt for file name)
A text file will be downloaded.
In the Target System
Goto LSMW Extras-->Import Projects and give the text file which was downloaded.
2)Extras-->Generate Change Request
Assign a change request which is basically a transport request and you can then get this transported from one system to another through the basis route.

Error while importing LSMW (Errro in Table /SAPDMC/LSMCUST)

I was trying to Export and import a LSMW in quality system and came across with the below error. Any idea why it is happening. The recording, field mapping and conversion rules are not getting copied properly.

Hi,
When you are exporting the LSMW click the recording name for the including the exporting. Field mapping you have to do after importing.

Hi,
In the transaction LSMW, from the menu:
From your Quality system give your lsmw name and then do:
Extras->Export Project
This will export your lsmw created to an local path.
Then after logging into Production you can import
that lsmw from the lsmw transaction only:
Extras->Import Project

Use
The purpose of this activity is to import vendor master data via LSMW using Batch Input.
Prerequisites
You have imported the LSMW project BP_AIO into your system.
Specifying LSMW Project Details
1.     Access the activity using the following transaction code:
Transaction Code     LSMW
2.     Confirm the information message Welcome to the Legacy System Migration Workbench.
3.     On the Legacy System Migration Workbench screen, enter the following values:
Field name     Description     User action and values     Notes
PROJECT     Name of data transfer project      BP_AIO     More than one subproject can be assigned to a project.
SUBPROJ     Specifies the name of the subproject     MM     A subproject can have an unlimited number of objects
OBJECT     Object name. An object corresponds to a business object.     VENDORS_FINAL     An object is assigned to a subproject
4.     Choose   Continue. The LSM Workbench: BP_AIO MM, VENDORS_FINAL screen is displayed.
You can change the default view from display mode to change mode. To do this, choose Double Click=Display.
Specifying an External File
If an external file has already been specified, only change the file name of the existing file. Do not add or create any additional files.
1.     In the LSM Workbench: BP_AIO, MM, VENDORS_FINAL screen, start the process step Specify Files and go into change mode, if you are in display mode.
2.     In the LSM Workbench; Specify Files (Change) view, go to the structure item Legacy Data - On the PC (Frontend). Double-click on the object file entry that is located directly under Legacy Data - On the PC (Frontend). The File on Front End: Maintain Properties entry screen is displayed. Enter the following values:
Field name     Description     User action and values     Notes
File     LSMW data file name     Specify the path and name of the external data file or browse for the external data file
Name     Object type     Specify the name of the object type
File Contents          Select the radio button
Data for One Source Structure
Separators          Tabulator     Check file for separators, if necessary

3.     Choose Continue, save your file settings and choose Back.
Assigning a File
Omit this activity if an external file has already been specified and assigned.
1.     To assign an external file, double-click on the process step Assign File.
2.     In the LSM Workbench: Assign File view, select the first line highlighted in yellow and choose   Assignment. The file you have specified in the previous step is assigned. Repeat this for each entry highlighted in yellow until you have assigned the file assigned to each structure.
Importing Data from Files
1.     To import the data from the assigned files, double-click on the process step Import Data.
2.     Choose   Execute without entering any values. Go back to the Process Step list
Converting Imported Data
1.     To convert the imported data, double-click on the process step Convert Data.
2.     Choose   Execute without entering any data. Go back to the Process Step list.
Creating Batch Input Session
1.     Double-click the step Create Batch Input Session.
2.     In the Batch Input interface for Vendors screen, choose Execute, confirm the messages which are displayed. If a batch input session was created successfully the message Session 1 session name VENDORS_FINA was created is displayed.
Running Batch Input Session
1.     Double-click the step Run Batch Input Session.
2.     On the Batch Input: Session Overview screen, select the session you have created in the step before. If the batch input session was created correctly, New is displayed in the column Status.
3.     Choose Process.
4.     In the dialog box Process Session vendors_Fina, choose a processing mode.
5.     Choose Process.
6.     In case of foreground processing, select Enter till the data is imported.
7.     In case of background processing, the system message 1 session transferred to background processing is displayed.
8.     In case of errors, solve them and run through the process again.
Possible problems might be:
     Configuration does not fulfill the master data requirements (CATT and manual processing of the transaction would also fail)
     External master data file is not stored as tab separated file
     Other data inconsistencies
Result
You have created vendor master data.

LSMW not working

Hello all,
I'm using a LSMW to follow up events in Training and event management.
The transaction code is PV15.
While recording for the LSMW, the qualifications do not transfer to the qualification profile of the employees booked under that event.
However the manual PV15 transaction runs fine and updates qualifications. It is only while Following up an event using LSMW that the data is not transferred to PD.
The entire LSMW session runs without any errors, shows all the screens however does not transfer the Qual. to empls Qualification profile (PPPM).
Another thing, I created LSMW for the same in another client and it worked perfectly fine. On import of the same LSMW in this particular client the LSMW fails.
I think this could be related to the database tables that can be accessed by LSMW or something. Are there any settings for this that I can check?
Kindly help me out on this with your suggestions or if you've encountered a similar case before.

I've re-imported the LSMW.
I've found that the LSMW doesnot work for a particular Business events. For some it does and transfers qualifications to the attendee's Qual profile.
I'm not able to figure out why the distinction.
Can any one gimme some ideas as to where all i can check?

Hi Shekar,
You can export / import a LSMW project from the menu 'Extras' / 'Export Project and 'Import Projects'.
I have added LSMW documentation as under -
Export Project
In the initial screen, select Extras / Export project. This first displays the structure tree of the selected project. Via Select / Deselect you can select whether the entire project or parts of the project are exported. Then select Export. The program then creates an ASCII file.
Export Project: Project Table of Contents
Note: The selected elements are exported together with their documentation.
Import Project
The exported mapping and rules can be imported into another R/3 system.
On the selection screen, select Extras -> Import. The program then prompts you to enter the name of the PC file. The file is imported and the contents are analyzed. After the analysis, a list of the subprojects and objects found is displayed.
You can now mark the objects to be imported. Project data existing already are check-marked. They are overwritten by the import.
You can prevent a project already existing in the target system from being overwritten by using function "Import under different name".
Note: The selected elements are imported together with their documentation

LSMW- change measurements

Hi experts!
I must import new measuremets of rental objects . I bulid LSMW with BAPI, business object=BUS1504, method=change. I would like to enter new measurement from date…..It’s ok,if type od measurement not exist. But if was so type, it’s problem. I must close previously type, but how can I do it by
lsmw?
I wrote next subproject to close previously type of measurement. I set change indicator=U and date to….. During execute system call date from . Objects have diferent date from and different Value . I can’t write it w LSMW.
Is any way to change date to the type of last measurement? Is there any parameter to set?

I m not ABAPer and can't change measurement with BAPI function. I bulid LSMW with BAPI. I solved my problem. I created 2 subprojects. One updated Date TO,data I exported from raport REISMSBDdo excel, adapted them and import by LSMW to system. Was helpful your suggestion, that I have to fill the VALID FROM because it can identify the measurement. Because of it I have to add VALUE_AVAIL, system demanded it to identify, I think so. And this allowed me to change VALID TO of last measuremet. I was suprised, because that are not key fields. Second suproject entered new measurements.
It may be easier to do it, but I did so as i could.

Can't create bin automatically in the testing server

Dear Gurus,
I am having this problem:
In the server for configuration, I create new warehouse and do all the settings, then when I run SPRO > IMG or use t-code LS10, I can test to create storage bins automatically successfully.
However, in the server for testing, after transporting all the settings for new warehouse, I use LS10 to create storage bins (since we can't transport master data), but the system (in testing server) says that I am not allowed to make (configuration) modification. The button "Create Bins" therefore gray out.
Question:
LS10 supposed to be a transaction to create master data. How come the testing server treat it as a configuration and not allow me to create bins automatically? Is this the error from MM side or Basis side (my profile is SAP_ALL)?
We don't want to create manually since there are thousands of bins, also we don't want to create an excel file and upload using LSMW because we already have formula and just want to create bins automatically.

I get round this by doing a recording of LS01N in LSMW and then using this to create my bins in ALL clienst by exporting and importing my LSMW
This also means that I can create any bins with any numbering sequece in one spreadsheet and load them all in one
In one of my recent projects I used this method to create 80,000+ bins in approx 30 minutes
Of course you need to know how to create the LSMW but a developer may be able to help you as it is too long to explain in this forum

BP-ERP05 and BP-INSTASS Installation in Production or only in Development

Hello, I had at one point read that the Add-on packages BP-ERP05 and BP-INSTASS should only be imported into a Prototyping system or Development system. Any other systems such as Test and Production shouldbe built according to the same strategy but not with the Add-Ons. I cannot find this in any documents anywhere. The closest I have managed to
find is the statement below. Unless I can confirm otherwise I am requested to import BP-ERP05 and BP-INSTASS into Production.
Here, we see the different use cases and how they can be put into practice in a system landscape.
In the prototype or sandbox system, you can install a complete SAP Best Practices solution and try out the scenarios. You can use this, for example, in prototyping workshops to create detailed specifications in an implementation project and for presales presentations. Then after deciding which scenarios are relevant, you install this special selection in a development system. Here you add customer specific deltas and then transport your settings into a quality system. After testing your scenarios (probably with your own master data imported via LSMW) you finally transport all the tested settings into the productive system.

I have the same question, anyone has the answer?
Since best Practice activation content is transported in Test and Production systems using CRs, is it required to install BP_CANW, BP-ERP, BP-SOLBLD also in TEST and PRD or only in DEV system?

To move to the quality system.
First Import the lsmw in text file in development system.
To import LSMW Tcode u will find Extra option in menu bar from there choose IMPORT PROJECTS.
save the file in desktop.
Second to move to quality system
go to LSMW tcode in quality system.
use EXPORT Projects from same menu bar EXTRA then follow the procedure.
LSMW cannot be transproted

Zsh can't create /bin/zsh

Hello,
I have installed zsh, everything went smoothly. but in the end, once installation finished, there is an error message:
warning: warning given when extracting bin/zsh (Can't create '/bin/zsh')
warning: warning given when extracting bin/zsh-5.0.0 (Can't create '/bin/zsh-5.0.0')
I checked it out by typing 'zsh'. Annoying "command not found" appears...

When I use LSMW to import master data,
on the step,"Specify Files",there are
two choice for code page,"ASCII" "IBM DOC",
but neither of them can work correctly,
both cause chaotic code.

I'm working with English and Cyrillic input files. As long as I don't use English file for the Russian application, all works well.
I figured out two important points:
- Log-in in 'target' language. This has to set locale and language defaults -> LSMW will asume correct codepage (when your system has correct default settings).
- Save your text file with correct codepage. With MS Word or MS Excel I haven't seen detailed options, but with OpenOffice you can set codepage when saving files with '*.csv'-filter.

How to resolve error while importing data using IDoc method in LSMW ?

I am trying to import my data using IDoc method in LSMW.
But after completing the whole LSMW process, when I look into the IDOC generated, the error description is as this.
It talks about the process code and other stuff.
Function module not allowed : APPL_IDOC_INPUTI
Message No. B1252
Diagnosis :
The function module APPL_IDOC_INPUTI and the application object type which were determined are not valid for this IDoc.
I am not able to resolve the problem.
