Re inclusion of a member in Planning application

Hi
I have used Shared services library to maintain dimensions in Essbase planning.
I have multiple applications sharing the same dimensions.
I have excluded some accounts in a particular application, but now want to include it back.
I am not able to do this as no option is seen to include back an excluded member from an application.
Request if i am guided on the steps to do it.

Right-click on the DIMENSION in the application library (not the shared library, but the application library). Select the option "Show Excluded Members". Select the member you want back in the application library (the one that was previously excluded) and press the "Show" button. That will put the member back.

Can not add "Local" member in Planning application

Hi,
I have added currency dimension as a user defined dimension and would like to add "USD" and "Local" members as its children. But i can not be able to add "Local" member as planning is throwing an error: "Member Name with "Local" already exists".
i checked across all other dimensions and nowhere i defined a member name or alias as "Local". Any guess ??

Hi,
When i looked into planning app relational schema, i see that both "USD" and "Local" are already been defined under HSP_XCRNCY. My planning app is not a multi currency app so i would still need to add "USD" and "Local" as members of currency dim. is there anyway i could get it done ?

Unable to move a member in planning

Hello All,
I am trying to move a member in planning application from one node to node another. I am getting following error

I tried using ODI , Outline extractor and manul with same result.
I checked planning tables but can't find the unique entity id 23091
please help

The issue is around the planning unit, is there an active Planning unit in operation as I know moving entities while one is active can be a problem, if there is then try to exclude the member you are moving.
Alternatively export the planning unit, delete planning unit, move member, import planning unit.

Want to use the Member in different Application using EPMA in Planning

We are using EPM Version 11.1.2.1 and i have created an Accounts Dimension and also members below it using EPMA and now i want to use some of the members which i have created in EPMA under accounts dimenion in one application and other members in second application? How can i achieve this?
Ex: Accounts

A4
I want to use A1 and A2 in one Planning Application and A3 an A4 in Second Planning Application.

You should create the Accounts Dimension in the Shared Library of EPMA. Then add that dimension to your applications and in the application dimensions pane in the middle, right click on the member or hierarchies you wish to exclude, and choose Exclude Member. Keep in mind that if you do this at the parent level, its descendants will also be excluded. To see the members that are excluded, simply right click on the dimension itself and choose Show Excluded Members.

Unable to load data to Hyperion planning application using odi

Hi All,
When I try to load data into planning using odi, the odi process completes successfully with the following status in the operator ReportStatistics as shown below but the data doesn't seem to appear in the planning data form or essbase

hello John,
the datasource for this app_1 is data_1.
The default property value of ENABLE_FOR_OFFLINE is true in HSPSYS_PROPERTIES table.
when i change its value to false and then tried to redeploy application then i get the “application already exists” error.
so i created another datasource data_2.
and copied this app_1 to create new application as app_2.
then i validate app_2 application successfully.
but before deploying this application app_2, i can not find its datasource entry in relation database in HSPSYS_PROPERTIES table.

Error while launcing Planning applications from colloborator Workbench

We are on Demantra 7.3.1, Oracle 11g and we have the following problem:
When trying to launch from Collaborator Workbench any of the applications from the Planning Application tab (ie: Member Management, Business Modeler..) it results in the following error:

Thanks for your suggestion's here i am going to run the datapump script so while i am running in workbench it is throwing data access error.So as you guy's suggested i created one import format and added this script to that import format which is added to one of my location even it is throwing the same error.I am getting the error at this sentence "strWorkTableName" I want to know what is this where it reflect's?So my question is Is there any difference while running data pump or integration script.Please let me know a detailed navigation steps to run this script's with out data access error to run these kind of scripts.
Note:Again my target is to load the data to planning database through fdqm which i am doing through sql statement's.

Error on refreshing a planning application (9.2.1)

Hi,
When I try to refresh a planning application thru planning desktop the process stops with the error 'Error Detected.Failed to launch member formula synchronization utility, error level 1. Check classpath and other configuration parameters in ../Utils/setHPEnv.bat -2147220590'.
The version of planning is 9.2.1 and I upgraded my application to 9.2.1 from 9.2.0.2. Under 9.2.0.2 I had no problems at all.
I installed 9.2.1 two days ago and I am making some tests but I found this problem.
I checked the above file and it seems ok to me.
Do you have a clue of what might goes wrong?

We faced the same issue. Please find below the cause and solution:
Cause:
This happens due to database driver port number change
Impact:
Planning refresh will return errors pertaining to JDBC connectivity. While trying to add a new member in Planning web, and refreshing, the member gets added in Essbase outline, but all the member formulas will be erased. Hence, addition of the new member in Essbase outline is never a check for having the refresh went through.
Resolution:
1. Navigate to D:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\Utils folder and EDIT setHPenv.bat
2. Within setHPenv.bat, check the path/location of the properties file. This will be mentioned in set PLN_PROPERTIES_PATH=D:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\....
3. Get the PLN_PROPERTIES_PATH(path) from the above step, copy and paste it in a windows explorer browser to navigate to the correct Planning properties file being pointed to. Check the file 'HspJSHome.properties' for the port number. This will be mentioned in:
<your application name>JDBCURL=jdbc:hyperion:oracle://<your database server>: [PORT NUMBER];SID =<your database/scehma name>
Also note the name of the JDBC_CATALOG given in <your application name>JDBCCATALOG = {note this name}
4. Note the PORT NUMBER and JDBC_CATALOG name mentioned in this file.
5. Run the Configuration Utility [Hyperion System 9 Foundation--> Configuration utility] and regenerate the HspJSHome.properties file. Check if the new PORT NUMBER has been updated. Compare the new port number with the port number mentioned in Step 4.
6. If not, go to command prompt-- C:\tnsping <Give your JDBC_CATALOG name from Step 4> , to return the new PORT NUMBER.
7. Update this PORT NUMBER in HspJSHome.properties file in
<your application name>JDBCURL=jdbc:hyperion:oracle://<your database server>: [NEW PORT NUMBER];SID =<your database/scehma name>
Now the refresh will happen successfully.

it is a classic planning application, after I load dimensions and members into classic Planning application, I can't see new members I added in csv file.
How could I confirm whether it was successfully loaded.

With your help, I can verify it easier rather than creating dataform to verify it.
I have resolved the question now, the root cause is I had used the wrong parameter, shouldn't add '/N' in the command. for /N is a dry run to check whether there are error in CSV file, it won't perform metadata load.
If no error occured, run the command without /N, then the metadata load will be performed.

EPMA Shared Members not reflecting in Planning application post deployment

Hi,
I have added a member in 'Entity' dimnesion. The same member is also added in an alternate hiererchy as shared member (Using Insert member option in dimension library). When I refresh the application view, I do see both the original member and shared member in application vieiw. But post deployment, only the base member is reflected in planning application and not the shared member.
I have redeployed the application multiple times now, but i am still not able to see the shared members reflected in Planning application.
Kindly let me know if you have any idea on the same or faced a similar issue?

9.3.1.1 Patch includes -
6897835 SHARED MEMBERS IN ENTITY DIMENSION CAN NOT BE DEPLOYED TO ASO/BSO APPS
It is advisable to keep a look out for patch fixes with EPMA

Non standard Year member in Planning Years dimension

We have a non standard (to Planning) member of the Years dimension called 'No Year'. In order to add it initially, I had to go to the back end of Planning (HSP_OBJECT and HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES tables) and modify the members there. This was in version 9. The order of the Years members was then FY95 through FY14, then came No Year, then FY15. This worked for our start and end years within Planning, as our start year was FY09 and our end year was No Year, which allowed us to Plan through FY14 and also entered non-year specific data to No Year on forms. It also allowed us to omit 'No Year' from our scripts using a range of years FY09:FY14 (using substitution variables). Now that the year has rolled over (and, incidentally, we've upgraded to version 11), and our Planning years are FY10 through FY15, I would like to move No Year to be after FY15. However, I don't seem to be able to do that by updating the underlying tables above. I make the changes to the two tables, but it is not reflected in Planning (they display in the same order), and if I try to edit either of the two members in Planning (No Year or FY15), it gives me an error saying the member already exists. Does anyone know how I can accomplish moving the No Year member? I need to do it not only this year, but to have a process my client can follow each year, moving that member in the outline to be directly after the last Planning year.

If you want to go about hacking the tables and changing the order of 'No Year'.
If you run the following SQL against your planning application
select * from hsp_object where object_type = 38
You will see the position column and will have values like 1000000 = First place, 1000010 = Second Place and so on.
To alter the position then you need to note down the position value of 'No Year' and 'FY15'
update hsp_object set position = '1000070'
where object_type = 38 and object_name='No Year'
update hsp_object set position = '1000080'
where object_type = 38 and object_name='FY14'
Restart planning. Now this is all done at your own risk and when you app goes boom don't blame me :)
If 'No Year' was added in the correct way when you add year's it should always stay as the last position.
Planning assigns object ids between set ranges, normal year values (FY..) are 50002 onwards
No Year is out of that range e.g 50412
When No Year is added correctly then planning will add a new to the normal range of values for year (last year value + 1) and then alters the position order

Go to Administration > Dimensions > Select Dimension > Select the member to want to assign acccess filters to :- Assign Access
Repeat process for all access permissions.

Sample Planning Application Doesn't Create Entity Dimension Members in Essb

Hello all,
I created a SAMPLE application in planning and then did a "refresh database" so that it would create the outline in Essbase. When I goto Essbase and expand the outline I see seven dimensions: HSP_Rates(3), Account(1), Period(2), Year(4), Scenario(1), Version(1), Currency(2), Entity. It seems to me that not all members are appearing in the outline, I think Accounts is supposed to have 19 members, in my case it only has 1. Scenario only has the member "Current". Entity doesn't have any members at all. Can anybody shed light on why this might be the case? This isn't the way a sample application is supposed to be is it ?

I was hoping you'd reply to this thread! Yes I did initialize the sample planning application after you told me to, and yes I am using Classic Planning...I dont have EPMA installed, it requires IIS and all that so there were some constraints on my part. I'm still getting the same error.
So a quick rehash: I reset my system clock to 2007, successfully created the sample app, then refreshed the database (Adminstration -> Manage Database), and then when I look at the outline that was built in Essbase I got HSP Rates (3), Accounts (1), Period (2) Year (4), Scenario (1), Version (1), Currency (2) and Entity with no children. Based on Rittman Mead's blog, I believe I should have more than that. And when I try to load the data it tells me E01 is an unknown member and the data load fails.
What could be the problem ?

Chnages to the Planning Application

I have a planning application on 9.3.1. Right now the application is set up to use thirteen periods for budgeting cycle. Going forward we want change the application in a way that it uses twelve months standaard yearly process. The
Time Period dimension in Hyperion Planning cannot ba changed once the application is created ? All my scripts, Forms, rules etc roght now work in accordance with thirteen period. Can anybody let me know wwhat is the best practice to
change the Time Period dimension in a way that i dont have to write application from scratch & would involve minimum changes to scripts, rules etc.

Step one will be to move the application to 9.5 or later (recommendation would be to go to 11.1.1.3).
You can then migrate your planning application to EPMA instead of classic planning (2 minute migration that doesn't require IT). Once there you should be able to change the structure from 13 months to 12 without much difficulty. You could do this playing around in the table but unless you really know what you are doing could be a recipe for trouble.
Once you have the app to 12 months instead of 13. If you are using dynamic member list (@idescendants, @children, etc.) most of your forms and stuff should be automatically updated. Same for some of your calcs. But if you hardcoded stuff (especially in calcs) then you will have to do some manual work but not impossible.
Hope that gives you some ideas.
Others can suggest how to work around the relational backend table structures, it's just that (in my opinion) migrating to EPMA will be easier and have other benefits as well and you will also need a DBA.

Hi,
To associate an attribute dimension with a dimension you will need to do this in EPMA.
Go to the application in EPMA and to the dimension library (you can right click the application > edit)
Right click the dimension you want to an attribute associated with > "Create Association" > Select Attribute from the property dropdown.
Select the attribute dimension from the dimension dropdown.
To associate an attribute member, click on a dimension member and in the property section you can click Attribute and select the member.
