Re install acrobat Pro 8 Invalid serial number.

I reset my computer and am trying to reinstall acrobat Pro 8 and I am getting a message that says Invalid serial number. I purchased this product and have the receipt.

How can Adobe Acrobat have an invalid serial number, but yet still be able to successfully install?

(with the invalid serial number causing it to not be able to be registered with Adobe Systems, Inc.)
Adobe Systems says the serial number is invalid, but the product successfully installed as normal with no errors.
If the serial number is invalid, shouldn't the installation have terminated and stated that the serial number is invalid?

Acrobat would continue the installation even without serial key but then it will be good only for 30 days.
After the trial poeriod is over, it will prompt you to enter a valid serial number to continue using it.

Acrobat 9 Professional - Invalid Serial Number

All, having issues with installing Acrobat 9 Professional on a Windows 7 Enterprise workstation thats going to be used as a baseline build. Downloaded my software from the my Adobe account from licensing.adobe.com, and my license info as well. The software can be installed on an XP machine just fine. With this Windows 7 build I'm working on, I get the "Invalid Serial Number" error. I believe previously there were older versions of Acrobat on this build but I removed them all and cleaned up the registry as well. Could there be something that I'm missing that Acrobat 9 is seeing to bring this error? I was able to install our copy of Acrobat 8 Pro just fine. Other pieces, this machine is not on the network yet, and my copy of Win7 hasn't been activated yet (because of it not being on the network). What else can I check for? It must be seeing something on the machine for it to be popping up with this error. Somebody told me, if a previously licensed Acrobat copy was installed, it could show this message, but I don't see a trace of any file or in the registry. Help!!!

Just to add. This is a volume license of Acrobat 9 Pro. Not part of a CS bundle or anything like that. No other Adobe software installed except for Flash Player.

First of all i wont suggest you to install Acrobat 8 on windows 8. This version of application has never been tested on Windows 8.
You may upgrade to the latest version of Acrobat.

Acrobat 8 3D "invalid serial number" message

I'm getting the message, "You have entered an invalid serial number. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 professional and enter in a valid serial number when asked."
However, the fixes on the Adobe forums for this problem state that it occurs due to Creative Suite 3 (CS3) installations, but I haven't had the CS3 installed on this Windows XP SP2 machine.
I only have standalone InDesign CS3 installed, not the suite. I had the beta standalone IDCS3 installed, and uninstalled it before installing the shipping version.
I had the shipping version of FrameMaker 8 standalone installed. I uninstalled it before installing the beta Technical Communications Suite (TCS). I uninstalled it, restarted Windows XP SP2, then installed the shipping version of TCS, registered it, and authorized it.
With the exception of Acrobat 8 3D, the TCS applications run fine.
I've tried repairing the Acrobat 8 3D component of TCS, and also tried updating to 8.1.1, but no change in the message.
I've only found solutions for the invalid license error that relate to CS3, not TCS.
Before I uninstall TCS, which takes over an hour, and then run the CS3 cleanup script at level 2 - the Adobe knowledgebase recommendation, I'd like to know if this procedure has been successful for anyone who has had the problem, but hadn't installed CS3. I don't want to find out that running the CS3 cleanup script level 2 causes damage because the suite isn't and wasn't installed.
Has anyone done this?

If only the bug lists would honor these brave souls by naming the bug discovery after them, as well as identifying them with prosaic bug-database numbers<G>. Your solution was very helpful. Here are some notes that may be helpful to others. I'm also reporting this to the beta program. * Removing TCS with Add/Remove Programs didn't fix it. In addition, somehow, although TCS was removed from the application list in A/R, it seemed to be on my system, even after restarting the computer and Windows! I could launch some of the applications, but because it seemed so uncertain, I didn't want to stop at this point and pray nothing would go wrong later. * I ran Microsoft Install Repair Utility, which seemed not to do much. * I rebooted and reinstalled TCS, but had the same problem with Acrobat 3D, so I figured the cleaning wasn't complete. So I uninstalled it, then ran Microsoft Install Repair again, after which... * I copied a bunch of settings files and third-party scripts and plug-ins from Programs/Application Support/Adobe, and my User/Application Support/Adobe folders for the installed ID CS3, and also zipped the whole installation to preserve any information I might need to recover or information about where things need to go in the directory tree, before uninstalling InDesign CS3 and InCopy CS3. Then I ran the Adobe clean-up script level 2, which ran the Microsoft utility. Just to be "extra careful," I ran the Microsoft utility separately; This time it proposed to remove itself! Must be something to do with having nothing left to clean up? Removing it results in the Adobe cleanup script level 2 reporting that the utility isn't installed, needs to be, and quits. Circles within circles - confusing in its helpful way, or helpful in its confusing way. * I ran the Adobe CS3 Clean Up Script level 2, in the preview mode, to see what it planned to do. It proposed to remove InDesign and InCopy CS3 directories, so I removed them before proceeding. * Finally, ran the CS3 clean up script level 2 for real, rebooted, installed TCS, gave the serial number, and was back in business...almost. - Applications launched OK, including Acrobat 8 3D, but, attempting to save a FM document as PDF displayed an error that Distiller couldn't run because Acrobat 8 3D wasn't activated (even though the TCS activation was working for all apps in the suite). While I was doing another slow burn because this was a reprise of one of the problems that sent me on this Odyssey hours and days earlier, Lo! and Behold!, Distiller launched, then Acrobat opened to display the PDF. I'm guessing that Acrobat 8 wasn't *running* at the time I did Save As PDF, so the error was an error in detecting Acrobat. Man! * I was going to leave out the part where I mistakenly entered the beta-test serial number when launching the new TCS installation, which was accepted and worked up to the point that the validator closed the application! The only solution was to uninstall, run MS utility for good luck, pray, and reinstall, which was successful. I provided the correct serial number, and am back in business. This is pilot error, but it reveals a bug that should be fixed - the application should not give a green check mark (valid serial) indicator to a timed-out serial number. The serial should be invalid if it is invalid. Another bug is that the option to activate the suite by checking an application in the final screen should not provide check boxes for the three applications - the check boxes should be radio buttons. Checking multiple applications opens each checked application and prompts for validation. Very confusing!!! Hoping that this helps others stay out of trouble, or that this helps them find solutions. I bought CS3 in 2007.Recently did a trial of CS6 which updated Acrobat. Played around with it then uninstalled. Just reinstalled Acrobat 8 from original disk, but it is saying "Invalid Serial Number". Help?

All I know to suggest it to unintall it again, run the cleaner (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html), remove anything left of the Acrobat folder, reboot, and reinstall. There may be an issue because of the CS package that is an issue. With CS, you apparently have to open one of the products before the installation of Acrobat. I am not sure of the details and do not quite understand. There is a note on installing Acrobat as part of the CS suite at the top of this forum as I recall. You might also ask in the CS forum.

Install Hardware setup utility - Invalid Serial Number

When I try to install "Hardware Setup utility" 1.48.0.11C or 1.48.0.09C on my TOSHIBA X200-245, I obtain the message error "invalid serial number" (in French : Le numero de serie est incorrect).

My OS is Vista SP1 (Version SE : Microsoft Windows Vista edition Familiale Premium 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1).
Initially, the version was 1.48.0.11C. I made a mistake. I removed it from my notebook X200-245.
When I use Toshiba diagnostic tool, the displayed serial number is good. When I try to install Hardware setup utility, the message error says that it is invalid.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard - invalid serial number after transfer

Hello,
Trying to install my Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard on a new computer.
I followed the instructions to deactivate the licence on the old computer and documented my serial number (out of the REGISTRY). I also got the message, that the deactivation was successful.
When I now try to install the software on the new computer, this fails with a message that the serial number is invalid (but I checked serveral times for typing errors).
Any help?

What is in the registry is not necessarily the serial number. If you registered the software, you can find the serial number under your account on the Adobe website.

Acrobat Pro asks for serial number after update while being part of CS4 package

Hello, frustrating: I installed CS4 on a new Mac as the old one wasn't fast enough anymore. I deactivated the package (Master collection) on the old one, and activated it on the new one.
Everything works fine. Then there was Adobe updater, updating Acrobat pro. No problem.
But when it launches, it asks for a serial number. And my CS 4 number doesn't work on this. Weird, it seems the Acrobat pro isn't linked to the master collection anymore ? But we did nothing
with the software, just ran the update as suggested by Adobe updater.
PLEASE HELP! as we cannot use Acrobat Pro now and we need to use it!!!

Hi,
I suppose you have installed Creative Cloud Desktop App, or Latest Adobe Application Manager (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773).
You can also try following steps:
Launch the product
On Trial Screen click on License this software
On Sign in Screen, click on “Not My Adobe ID” (if displayed), else click on signin (do this even if it shows a valid ID).
Sign in with your Adobe Id
Software should now be lincensed.
Can you please share your adobeID and mail oobelib.log and amt3.log from %temp% on Windows, or /tmp in Mac, if it is still not working to [email protected]

Trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro v9 requests serial number

I have installed Adobe Acrobst Pro V9 a total of 3 times now, being careful to ensure that I select "Install Trial Version" each time.
However, every time I open the programme it requests a serial number and I cannot get past this stage.
I did also download a trial version in 2008/2009 but deleted it within the 30 day period.
I have posed this question to the online help chat and they eventually suggested I try this forum.
Any assistance will be appreciated

You can always print the form and then use your word processor to place the information where it needs to go. It is an iterative process, but it is the way I used to fill out monthly reports in a DOS world. It was faster than using a typewriter back then, at least after I setup the template. It may be they expect the form to be filled out by typewriter (few have one any more - just folks like me) or by hand. In the latter case, be careful to print clearly.
