Re-install MS office 2011 without disc?

Hello,
I bought my first Mac tonight: a used macbook pro. It is currently loaded with a fully functioning copy of office 2011 complete with valid produxt key. I would like to perform. A wipe/OS reinstall prior to use, but I don't want to lose use of the office program. I did not receive an office disc with the computer. Is there any way to download/install the program and then enter my valid product key? Is there anyway I can backup the program to an external drive, wipe the computer & reinstall the OS, and then move the office program back onto the computer afterwards? Thanks in advance!

It may be legal it depends on how the original owner got the software. I have a legal license without media through the Office 2008 to 2011 upgrade program.
However the easiest way is to contact Microsoft and purchase the media. If the license key is indeed legal they will be happy to sell you the media for a modest charge, I think it's less than $20.00. You will need to search Microsoft.com/Mac for their support but you should be able to find the contact information. If they determine it's a legitimate license key there should be no problem. If it's not legitimate then you will be given the opportunity to buy a legal license.

Trying to install MS Office 2011 for Mac SP 2 (14.2.0) on my Macbook Air (Lion 10.7.3). I have to close Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent but can not see how to do so.  I have closed all applications.  Can anyone help? Many thanks

Thanks Kurt!  I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close.  I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank.  In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well.  Thanks for your help!

  • After installing MS Office 2011, Safari fonts are displaying incorrectly

I'm running OS X v. 10.6.4 on an Intel iMac.
This morning, I installed Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, and when I went to my safari browser and googled something, my fonts look like the image below:
Even as I'm typing this now, this font is showing the same way! I did a thorough uninstall of MS Office, emptied my font cache, browser cache, reset safari, logged out + in, restarted my comp 100 times, and I'm at a loss.
Is it possible my arial font was corrupted somehow? I know Office installs its own evil fonts, which I'm pretty sure I have now deleted. How would I get a new, working version of the default Arial font and reinstall it?

Office 2011 installs a bunch of fonts that conflict with those installed by OS X. Read section 3 of Font Management in OS X to see which to remove, and which to keep.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

Contact Microsoft support and ask for help.  You've paid for the kit, so installation-time support is part of the expectations.  They'll probably suggest a Repair Permissions and a Verify Disk pass, both performed by booting the installation DVD and using Disk Utility from the Utilities menu item, and selecting those two repairs.

  • How to install lexmark printer x1195 without disc

how to install lexmark printer x1195 without disc

I checked their site and it looks like Lexmark does not have Mac drivers for that printer for anything Mac OS newer than 10.3. However. if you Google Lexmark x1195 Mac driver, there are some third-party sites claiming to have solutions for Mac and Lion.
In my experience, Lexmark has been hit or miss with Mac support. Some models work with Macs--some don't.  If you go shopping for another printer, you might wish to steer away from them.

  • I can't install MS Office 2011 on mountain lion

Hi, I just installed Mountain Lion, I made a clean install of it so I needed to reinstall all of my programs including Microsoft Office 2011 for mac. The problem is that I bought only a key for the program. The process for installing was originally downloading the trial version of it and after putting the key in it that converts the trial version into a full program. The problem is that when I'm trying to open the installer (yes, I tried to re-download it several times) I'm havin a window saying "Can't open the disc image" and the reason is that the "research is impossible" (when it's on my external hard drive). I searched on several other topics saying that the problem was due to a previous install... but I made a clean install... Otherwise I tried changing the security settings to every programs (not only from apple and app store) and I also tried the Ctrl+Open but it's not working at all and I keep having the same window.
    Thanks for your further help
Sorry for the English i'm actually french speaking.

  • Unable to install MS-Office 2011 Update 14.1.4 on 10.6.8

    Hello,
I've got some trouble installing the actual available Update 14.1.4 for my Office 2011-Home and Student Editon.
When I try to install I receive the Error-Message "Office 2011 14.1.4 cannot be installed on this volume. For this Software, Mac-OS Version 10.5.8 or higher is required".
(Similar Problem during install the actual update for also installed Office 2008: "Cannot be installed, Mac OS 10.4.11 or higher...")
    I am confused.
In asked at Microsoft "Support" (ha, ha ha ..) and
1st) received a Email containing the Software AppleJack which fixed some minor  issues, Installing of the Update still does not work
2nd) received an Email from Microsoft "...cannot help you, there is an error in the Operating System, pls contact Apple."
    I am confused again...
The popup "About this Mac" shows the correct version 10.6.8, Update does not find anything to be installed.
This f*cking software from redmond is the only piece of software making some trouble, all other applications wors quite well.
    any hints?
My iMac (C2D 2.66, 4 GB RAM, Early 2008) is running under 10.6.8, all available Updates from Apple are installed, there are no hacks, no partitions, no Preview-Versions of Anything ... it is a plain vanilla iMac.
(Sorry 4 bad english, writing from germany...)
    Thanks!

  • Can't install Microsoft Office 2011 due to isync

I cannot install office 2011 because there appear to be no way to quit the application isync. I tried all the usual methods but a pop up window continues to tell me that I must quit isync in order to complete the installation. The same thing happens when attempting to update other software applications. I need some suggestions. I have already turned off the sync in Mobile me and quit the app according to the directions.

iSync has nothing to do with applications installation process.
What is the exact error message you are getting?
Have you tried restarting your computer before installing?

  • If I have already installed MS Office 2011 and have no more install license agreements and I install Lion will I have to purchase office again to reinstall?

If I have MS Office 2011 with no more install license agreements and I upgrade to Lion will I have to purchase new install copies of Office?

I didn't have to.  Office '11 kept on working with no problems after I installed Lion.

    Hi,
After installing the software package Office 2011 asks after every restart for the product key.
Remark: during installation I received a remark to close Safari.
    Has anyone an idea?

Have you guys tried to enter the serial number as an admin? On two Macs of ten we need to enter the number every morning. User has no admin rights. I started Excel and Word as Admin, though the licence was already there. In addition I ran a repair permissions in Disk Utility which found some issues.
We will see tomorrow what will happen.

  • I just downloaded OSx Lion and now MS word won't work. If I buy and install MS Office 2011 for Macs will my old documents open?

I just downloaded OSx Mountain Lion and now MS Word won't work. If I buy the current MS Office 2011 and install will I be able to read my old docs?

If it's because you're trying to use Office 2004 or earlier, yes. Note that programs such as OpenOffice and TextEdit will do this for free.
If you're using Office 2008, it's probably better to troubleshoot the problem instead of upgrading.

  • 'Invalid Checksum' message when I try to install MS Office 2011 on OS 10.9.1

I am trying to install MS Office for Mac (365 University), I have now downloaded it 3 times, once each with Chrome, Firefox and Safari; each time I get the 'invalid checksum' error msg when I try to install. I am using Macbook Pro Retina w/ OS 10.9.1

Yes this is what the Microsoft person said on the phone. I don't understand why it would be corrupted every time I download it, at different times of day with different browsers, wifi and ethernet, and my partner even tried with her windows machine and i got the same result after transferring it by usb to my computer. Also why does this only happen with this dmg and this OS whereas I've been downloading and installing many programs without issues.

  • Installing Lion, Office 2011 on both imac and macbook air

Hi, Thanks in advance for the help!
I installed Lion on my imac and found my old version of Microsoft Office unsupported. I have not yet changed my operating system on my mac air, but need to upgrade that also in the immediate future to support other processes and products.  At this point, I assume I can upgrade the old copy of Office I have on the mac air to Office 2011 and then transfer Lion to the mac air.  Or, do I need to get Lion installed on the mac air first and then download Office 2011.  Do both methods, require buying two copies of Office? At this point, I dont mind spending the money for two copies to make the whole process easier.
I am globally confused after trying to read online about this, but am mostly unclear about which process to do first.

Thanks for the info on what to buy.  I have the remaining question from the above entry
