Re-install of CS3 on Windows 7 Fails

Greetings.
Out of the blue all the programs in CS3 stopped working on Windows 7.   I received the message stating that the licensing stopped working.  After an chatting with a tech and going through the license recovery tool, and all the other options he gave...I was advised to un-install and re-install.  I un-installed, also I used the CS3 cleaner tool.  When I go to re-install, I'm prompted with the message: "The file AdobePDF.dll is needed".  I Googled the meaning of this and followed instructions found on Adobe's site.  I was able to locate and copy the AdobePDF.dll to my desktop and tried to browse to it in order to continue the install.  However, every time the install fails.  There is no specific error given on the failure.
I tried chatting with a tech about this but received the classic "I'm sorry, since you are facing an issue with Design Premium  CS3 and the latest version is Design Premium CS5.5, we're unable to provide Chat or Phone support for your product".
I do not want to be forced upgrade as this is not cost effective.  We paid good money for this software and expect that it works.  I'm not using any goofy third party registry cleaners nor have I made any changes to my OS.  I've seen other people have this issue, but no solutions were posted.  If someone could reply to this I would be grateful as I have wasted now two days.
Regards,
Dave

You have installed a newer version of Acrobat/ Reader and its messing with your CS3. Uninstall each and every shred of Adobe software, delete the caps.db and then try again.

Rebooting my computer and re-downloading the software from the Adobe website for another clean install made no difference.
Is this a compatability problem and if so how can I fix it?

It works, but there are known problems with installation and use so you should consult the Adobe support forums. If you're trying to install it on a new PC, just get the latest upgrade package from Adobe. You'll get A LOT more out of the latest version than you would CS3 since CS3 doesn't support the newer technology and lacks hardware acceleration.

  • Failed to install Photoshop CS3 in Windows Vista SP1

Hi there, I dunno why I cannot install Photoshop CS3 after upgrading my OS to Vista SP1. I have searched for lots of "solution" in Google but they seem to be useless and I am still unable to install PS in my computer.
Does anyone here has the above situation and would you mind to tell me how to solve this problem?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Installing FW CS3 on Windows 7

    hi folks
I am trying to install CS3 on Windows 7
    but it fails each time.
i am attaching a screenshot of the final stage of the installer.
    any help appreciated.
    Thanks

CS3 installs/runs on Vista, and Win7 is pretty much the same codebase. You might try right-clicking the install program and then click Run as Administrator, but it's probably some other problem.

  • I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows 8 it says "The Installer Database is corrupt"

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows 8 PC and when I run SETUP.EXE it says "The Installer Database is corrupt" on both my original CD and backup I made.

    The error is here:
Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows 8 PC
This will most likely never work. CS3 wasn't even fit for Win 7. Delete the caps.db in the respective caps folder (info here) and then take the usual steps of running as admin, turning off UAC and security tools and possibly using compatibility modes, but as I said, be prepared that this may be futile and you spend a Sunday afternoon without achieving anything...

  • Trying to install Illustrator CS3 on Windows 8.1 and get error message-installer database is corrupt

When I try to install Illustrator CS3 on a windows 8.1 machine and get the following error message. " Installer database is corrupt". Have tried rebooting computer etc. and still the same problem, any suggestions?

BrianDany I am sorry you are facing difficulties installing Creative Suite 3 under Windows 8.1.  Windows 8.1 was not available during the time period which Creative Suite 3 was developed and the last updates released.
I would recommend reviewing your PDApp.log and possibly AMT3lib.log file for error messages which are preventing the installation.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the log files at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4.  You are welcome to post any specific error messages which you discover to this discussion.

  • Trouble installing DW CS3 on Windows Vista

Hi I really need some help. I'm about to lose it.
I bought DW CS3 directly from Adobe in June '07. I had installed it on my laptop running Win XP. It worked fine and I liked working with DW. My laptop died a couple months ago and I bought a brand new HP desktop. I installed DW CS3 seemingly without any problems. But ... when I go to open DW, ... nothing happens.  It doesnt matter where I try to open it from, the Start menu, or the program file in the directory where it was installed.  There were no errors or problems during any of the install attempts.  Its just when you click on the icon to open DW, it just doesnt do anything. Nothing. As if you didnt even click on it.
I have not been able to find any thread/discussion with this exact problem.  I've tried implementing solutions from other install problems posted, but nothing has worked. I tried selective startup. Tried uninstall/reinstall a couple times. Tried repairing the install.
    My specs:
    HP Pavilion a6750y
    AMD Athlon Phenom X4 9650
    8GB RAM
    750GB HD
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Service Pack 1
    64-bit Operating System
I'm not a computer expert of any sort, but I know enough to get by.
Can anyone please help? Thanks so much.

    Nadia,
Thanks for replying. I just checked out that tech note & tried the regedit thing, but no luck.  I seriously can't believe that this is so much trouble.
I also need to just say that I did call Adobe support and unfortunately for me, they need to charge me $40 to help me, because now CS4 is out, so they don't support CS3 for free anymore.  This is very very poor business practice on Adobe's part.  Most manufacturers of any product, not just software, will continue to support at least the version previous to their newest.
I am an amateur web designer and just like to play around.  I was proud of myself for spending $200 my last year of school (econ major, not IT), to get the educational version of what I thought was a top-notch web design software.  I cannot afford to pay $40 for help. And I definitely cannot afford whatever the price of CS4 is, since I am not a student anymore.  I really enjoyed using DW CS3 on my laptop.  Unfortunately as I said before, it is now dead, and apparently, so is my ability to use Dreamweaver.
Shame on you Adobe.  I will spread this message far and wide.
If anyone else has any possible solutions to what my problem is, I am willing to try anything.  Thanks Nadia & Murray for your suggestions.  I will stay tuned to this forum until I have a solution.

  • How to install PS CS3 for Windows on my new iMac? [was:New computer]

I have a new iMAC and would like to download Photoshop CS3 extended. I had before a PC and I have the serial number. Is there a way? I really need to install it and dont mind to upgrade it.

I didn't deactivate the account in my old pc because it is broken and cannot get it. Maybe is that the resaon why doesn't work?
    Not related.
The reason it doesn't work is because perptually licensed products (such as your CS3 for Windows) are always issued with serial numbers specific to your operating system. Mac only serial numbers cannot be used on Windows. Likewise Windows serials cannot be used on Macs.
In short, you cannot install your CS3 Windows on your new iMac.
Your best option to get Photoshop on your iMac now is to join the Cloud, which you can do at a discounted monthly fee since you're a CS3 owner.
If you own Photoshop CS3 standalone retail version - not a suite or an educational version - then you could do it for $9.99/month and get Photoshop CC + Lightroom 5 + extras

  • Unable  to install DW CS3 in windows 7

    Hey all,
I was given a copy of DW CS3 from my brother and it was working fine on XP, I had to install Windows 7 and now it wont install DW CS3, (but will install shared components)..
    Can anyone help me?
Any information will be given if required.
    Thanks
    Andy

I actually googled for an answer to the new message and found a link to repair the licensing problem.  The only problem now is that I have a message telling me that I have exceeded the number of activations available so that I have to deactivate PS on the old computer and then I can reactivate it on the new one.  Only problem is, of course, is that there is no old computer.  I useda Windows 7 disk to install the new OS on a brand new computer and no longer have the old one.  As far as I know the hard drive on the old one has been formatted and erased many times.  The computer shop that built my new computer takes the old one as a "trade in" and completely and securely erases everything on it!!  It never occurred to me to deactivate PS on it!  I guess I will be in touch with Adobe.  And probably go through their telephone maze from h***.  If not I apologize now.  What a mess!

  • Can't install Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP SP3

Hello, I recently have reformated my machine and installed XP SP3
sadly now, I can't install Photoshop CS3, when I double-click on Setup.exe, it show me a small bar/dialog which tells me it's extracting files, but after that, NOTHING HAPPENS
I left it for an hour, and again, nothing happens. I checked my Task Manager and I found that Setup.exe and Msiexec.exe are running but with completely 0% of system resource.
I tried everything possible, nothing worked for me, I really need Photoshop CS3 for my work.
    thanks advance
    JohnX

I hear ya. that's on an existing system with an upgrade. i've solved (well, resolved) a remote desktop problem with a rollback to sp2.
but on the clean xp pro sp3 system (1st app install after anti-virus and firewall), the cs3 install took about 10 minutes. very fast very smooth.

  • Silent Install of CS3 on Windows 7 64 Bit

    Hello!
I am with a School District and need to package CS3 for deployment to a lab.  The research that I've found makes it sound very easy using the line
    "setup.exe" --mode=silent --deploymentFile="install.xml" --skipProcessCheck=1
and with our 32 bit XP machines it works great, no issues there.  We also have machines that are Windows 7 x64 and the same command line does not work at all.  With in a minute of execution it kills with exit error code 7.
I've found some other properties to add within the install.xml file
    <Property name="INSTALLDIR">C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe</Property>
    <Property name="os64Bit">1</Property>
This unfortunately didn't work either.  I'm not too surprised since in the log file it shows repeatedly that it is trying to install to program files (x86) anyway.
Can someone that has done the silent install on a 64 bit machine help me out at all (or anyone with any other ideas )??
    Thanks for any help!!

    Hi skat,
Firstly i would advice windows 7 as such wont support, there are work arounds to install or mount on it but in long run it causes problems.64-bit is not supported for administration tool.
If it is other OS also admin tool should be installed only on 32-bit .......hope oracle releases it on 64-bit too in short time with only admin tool alone to get installed.
On windows 7 installation you get many blogs or forums to get installed.......Better to install on windows 2003/2008 server which output you better.
    hope helps you understand.
    Cheers,
    KK

  • Installing Dreamweaver CS3 with Windows Xp Sp2

Hi, I'm having trouble installing the Dreamweaver CS3 trial
in my Windows XP SP2 machine.
I dont know if I have an adecuate processor, that seems to me
its the only one of the requirements I might not complete.
I have an AMD Athlon 2500+ processor with 1Gig of ram... the
    last Dreamweaver runs smoothly.
Can someone tell me if this processor is P4 compatible, Xeon,
    CoreDuo, etc. compatible.
If so, whats the problem with the installation, because it
    begins but shuts down automatically.

You guys aren't the only ones having problems. I'm having the
same exact problems myself. If you take a look at this forum
    thread,
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?14@@.3bc3b755/57
they offer possible solutions for Photoshop CS3 - because the
installer is the same, the solution works for dreamweaver as well.
Unfortunately for me, I've tried all of their possible solutions,
no luck. It baffles me why Adobe would package all their new
software with such a buggy installer. Anyhow, if anyone has any
    other suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

  • Unable to install PS CS3 in Windows 7 64bit

I have the 64bit version of Windows 7.   I, apparently, successfully installed PS but when I click on the icon to open it I get the opening screen, but no splash screen and that's it.  I finally get a message that PS is not responding.  When I "X" out of PS I get a screen saying that it will search for a solution and then close PS.   Nothing happens except that PS does close.  I've tried a repair installation of PS.  I have MS Win 7 64bit Professional installed, AMD Phenom II X Processor and 8GB of RAM, 2 terabyte hard drive.  Thanks.
I have searched for an answer but haven't found anything close to this.
I did run the Windows 7 upgrade advisor before installing Windows 7 (I previously had Windows XP Home) and the only problem the advisor detected was a potential problem with Roxio Creator 2009.  Obviously this is a clean installation of Windows 7 since it's not possible to do an in place upgrade from XP to Windows 7.  thanks.

  • Silent install of CS3

I'm trying to run a silent install of CS3 for windows. I've read the Adobe CS3 enterprise deployment PDF and the knowledge base article. Nothing in there works for me. I get exit code 7. Unable to complete the silent workflow.
    Has anybody had any luck?

    I got the Mac install of design premium to work. It is done the same way as the windows side. I pulled a couple of bonehead moves while testing, but i got it to work. First, be sure to use the mac install and uninstall.xml files. The codes are different from the windows version and you use a different install path. The override file is the same except you need to put in the mac serial number. Be sure to install on a clean machine for testing (no uninstalls or failed installs of anything adobe). Make sure all apps are closed except the terminal.<br />Here are my override and install.xml for the mac.<br /><br />application.xml.override<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /><Configuration><br /><Payload><br /><Data key="Serial" protected="0">xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</Data><br /><Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data><br /><Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data><br /></Payload><br /></Configuration><br /><br />install.xml<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><br /><Deployment><br /><Properties><br />   <Property name="installLanguage">en_US</Property><br />   <Property name="INSTALLDIR">/Adobe</Property><br /></Properties><br /><br /><Payloads><br />   <!--Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{AC76BA86-1033-0000-7760-000000000003}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{7005ECBC-F54B-42FD-81E4-934BC43FA329}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Dreamweaver CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{00E5C764-9525-44C3-8404-712AD06AE12A}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Flash CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{3BC8460B-085E-47F3-9C62-8FFCBAF11D78}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Flash Video Encoder--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{7BB7F66A-D798-45A3-A383-0727FB1EBF8E}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Illustrator CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{C4519961-AC64-4565-B3AF-9050296B5D5A}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe InDesign CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{98A7FC5C-969A-4A54-95D1-F64E5233FED6}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Photoshop CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{30C4B843-28DA-466F-AFCA-CB0ED153C826}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Version Cue CS3 Server--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{abd781e6-d5ca-45aa-a5f7-f64799eb1c04}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /></Payloads><br /></Deployment>
