Re-install v5.5 from upgrade from v4

I am soon to have some work done on my laptop which I am told means I am going to have to re-install all software etc.
I am running Captivate v5.5 but this was created using an upgrade CD from v4.
Is there anything I should do before my IT people get their hands on my laptop ?
How do I re-intall v5.5 once I get my laptop back, as Captivate v4 is no longer on my Laptop and all I have is the upgrade CD ?

I have a similar issue. I recently purchased an iPad Mini, and I started off by backing it up from the apps I had on my iPhone. Now, I have a number of apps that never downloaded and that I don't want on the iPad. Some of these are apps that I don't need, while others are the iPhone versions of apps. There are something like 23 apps that I have no use for, but iTunes tries to install every time I connect. I've also tried clicking the 'Will Install' buttons. There's no way to delete these apps from the iPad without first installing them, as far as I can see, and there's no way to NOT install them, in iTunes.
It''s not just annoying, it's causing problems with installation of larger files and movies. Now, every time I sync to the computer, I get a warning that I'm over capacity by 580 MB, and larger apps will not install! Clicking Revert and a bunch of other things doesn't work, either. And I can't just delete some of the apps, because I or my wife use them on our phones!

yes, you can deactivate (help>deactivate) and uninstall.
you do/did not even need to have pse 9 installed before installing your ps12 upgrade. if it's not installed you will be prompted for the pse 9 serial number.

Yes, I guess that's what I was deducing. So if I'm coming from Windows and had previously purchased an upgrade disc, the only way to get Windows on the Mac would be to buy the full Windows OS. Or I'd need to buy the full version of XP or Vista in order to use my upgrade disc...meh.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Click on your CC icon.
Click on the gear icon.
Click on Preferences.
Sign out of CC.
Sign back in.
Don't click on "Quit."
I had been QUITTING CC and relaunching. Try signing out.

Error Installing Adobe Air from Story Desktop Application Installer

This is truly driving me nuts already.
Every time I try to install the Desktop Application from the Story website, it says I must install Adobe Air. So I click Install, it shows the progress bar to 100%, then errors out with a window. The window header reads "Adobe AIR Installer" and the main section of the window reads "Couldn't write the application to the hard disk. Please verify the hard disk is available and try again." - There is a Retry and Cancel. Retry does it all again with same results.
No, I had no previous versions of Adobe Air. So I tried installing AIR direct from the Adobe website, and it installs fine. So I go back to the Story webpage and try installing the Desktop Application again and the exact same set of events as described above happens. I uninstalled the AIR install, tried again, same result.
I had Production Premium CS3 previously, and installed Production Premium CS5 UPGRADE. All the programs in the suite work like a charm!
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with 208 Gig free on my C drive, as well as over 500 gig free spread out over two other drives. 8 Gig memory, and two Nvidia Qadro FX 3500 video cards (If that matters at all). Full admin rights to the PC, not limited in any way.
A quick Google search shows plenty of other people having the same problem, just no known fixes I've found!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

Install old iLife from 10.3 disks onto iBook w/ a clean install of Tiger?

My ibook originally came with Panther 10.3. iLife was included on the install disks.
A few months ago, I did a clean install of Tiger. I then tried to reinstall iLife from the Panther 10.3 disks. However, only Garageband and iDVD show up ---iPhoto and iMovie don't show up at all. I've searched for these programs, but they are not installed.
I spoke to an apple rep and he said that I should NEVER install old programs from a Panther disk onto a clean install of Tiger. However, the guy did not seem confident in what he told me. He said my mac should be very unstable and that I shouldn't even be able to use Garageband....but I have had no problems with my mac or using Garageband for the past 4 months.
Is he correct? And if so, should I do a clean install of Panther, and then upgrade to Tiger? I wonder if this will correctly install the whole iLife suite?

Install OS 9 from Hard Disk?

Can I install OS 9 from the hard drive. I have a USB Hard Drive Caddy, so I can put the files on and stuff.
It is an iMac G3 that needs an updated firmware, but it has a broken CD-Rom.
Once I am finished installing OS 9 and upgrading the firmware, I can install OS X with NetRestore Helper... Everytime I try to isntall OS X, it won't let me proceed until I upgrade the firmware.

You have to startup from the installation disk. You can't startup from a USB device on that iMac.
I have a USB Hard Drive Caddy, so I can put the files on and stuff.
I'm not sure what that is, but does it have a 3.5-inch IDE drive inside. If so, you may be able install Mac OS 9 on it using your Power Mac G3. Then, take the drive out of the enclosure and replace the drive inside the iMac with it. Try to start up from the iMac new drive. If it works, install the firmware update. Then swap the drives again to install Mac OS X.
Or you can buy a replacement CDROM drive on eBay, or here

Clean install and restore from Time Machine: Will i lose my applications ?

I want to do a Snow Leopard clean install instead of a an upgrade.
1) How do I do the clean install and restore it from Time machine during the install ?
2) If I do the clean install and restore from Leopard's time machine backup, will I retaing all my applications or I will only retain my personal files ?
- If I don't retain my applications, how will my photos in iPhoto be restored without iPhoto ?

If you did a complete TM backup, then all your files, users, settings, and programs will be restored. You will have the opportunity to restore using TM at the end of the install. I would back at least my data up separately.
To erase and install (i.e., clean install), start up to your DVD and stop after selecting your language. Use the menus to start Disk Utility and erase your drive. Quit Disk Utility and proceed with your installation. At the end, you will be able to choose to reclaim your settings, files, and apps from TM.

Trouble Installing Lightroom 5 from Creative Cloud

I'm having trouble installing Lightroom 5 from Creative Cloud. The file seems to download ok, but once it goes into it's installation I get the following error message:
