Re-installation of Office 2010

I have a product key for Office 2010 that is only 20 characters long and the installation disk is asking for 25. What can I do?

Hi Annie922,
Sounds to me like you're trying to activate office with a Product ID (PID).
Product ID and Product Key are not the same thing. You will need to dig out your 25 digit product key which should be included in the original packaging that came with your installation disk.
If you've lost the product key your best bet would be to contact the place of purchase.

  • How to automatcally uninstall Office 2007 32 bit for installation of Office 2010 64 bit

I have an MSP that will automatically install my companies 64 bit version of Office 2010 provided Office 2007 32 bit is already uninstalled. However, the option to uninstall previous versions of Office does not work in the MSP. We have Office 2007 32 bit
currently installed and whenever I run the MSP I receive the following: "Setup Error You cannot install the 64 bit version of the Office 2010 because you have 32 bit Office products installed."
Is there a way to automatically remove Office 2007 using the MSP or some other method? Thanks.
    Wedgies

What are you creating your MSP with?  I'm thinking that because you're calling the Office 64bit setup routine, that one of the first checks it does before it even processes your config.xml file is to check for previous versions installed, and it hits
the 32bit wall and stops.  What you should probably do is create a package that has two routines in it.  First process the uninstall of Office 2007 32bit, and once that's done process the Office 64 bit installation.  You could do this with a
package created by Installshield or Wise and some logic to process Step 1 (Remove Office 32bit) and then upon success of that process Step 2 (Office 64bit Install).
On a different note...is there a business requirement that you have for the 64Bit version of office?  If not...I don't think this is all worth the headache, unless you specifically need umpteen million rows of data in Excel, and the machines you're
deploying on have more than 4GB of RAM....just my opinion...
Also, I'm not sure this is a volume activation question though you might get more responses from the Setup and Deployment forum

  • When I click on an email address on a web page, a page no longer opens in my email program. Not sure if this is a problem due to Firefox or due to recent installation of Office 2010. I use a PC with Vista.

When I click on an email address embedded in a web page, a page would open in my email program with this address in the "To" line. I recently installed Microsoft Office 2010 and now when I click on an email address nothing happens. I am not sure if this is due to Office 2010 or a Firefox problem. I use a PC with Vista.

    Hi,
I have created a logoff vbs script enforced through GPO for a silent installation of office 2010 SP. The main part of the script run the following command:

Based on your description, I understand that you had configure logoff script via Group Policy to install office

  • All Office 2010 Applications Slow To Produce "OPEN" or "SAVE AS" Dialog Box ONLY When PC Connected To Network

    Hello all,
Frustrating problem: ALL Office 2010 apps require a 45 second delay to produce an "open" or "save as" dialog box when the computer is connected to a LAN (wireless or wired, domain or workgroup). When the computer is NOT connected to a LAN (wireless or wired,
domain or workgroup), then Office 2010 "open" or "save as" dialog boxes open normally (and quickly).
I suspect a network search/survey function internal to MS Office is at fault.
This is NOT the infamous mapped network drive problem associated with Office 2007/2010. There are no mapped drives (nor have there ever been) on the PC, although there might exist a related solution. Additionally, there is no 45 second delay when opening
a file by double-clicking on the file itself which will launch the application.
    Other information:
    1. PC runs Windows 7 Pro 32 bit - PC is a relatively new Lenovo T400 laptop, all updates from Lenovo and MS installed, running clean and nicely otherwise, no spyware, no viruses, no previous software or hardware issues requiring assistance. Event log is
    clean.
    2. Absolutely fresh installation of Office 2010 Pro Plus (MS Action Pack)
    3. Running Office apps in safe mode does not alter problem behavior (ie, "windword.exe /a" or use CTRL key and double-click to launch app)
    4. Running Windows 7 in safe mode with networking and then subsequently testing Office apps is not possible: "license not able to validate" issue. This is a known problem and is not related to the slow dialog box response behavior.
    5. A desktop PC with the same MS Office 2010 installation, same volume license key, on the same network does NOT produce this problem.
    6. Full uninstall, reboot, and re-install of Office 2010 does not alleviate problem
    7. Disabling ALL startup items and services (including, of course, ALL Lenovo management software) does not alleviate problem
    8. SMB v2 bug is not the problem: ie, disabling mrxsmb20 service does not alleviate symptoms.
    9. I have isolated "Client for Microsoft Networks", "QOS Packet Scheduler", "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver" (and Responder), and "Printer and File Sharing for MS Networks" in the network adapter properties are NOT causing the issue.
    10. Using Sysinternals Registry Monitor, I was able to determine that Office apps evaluate certain properties of your Internet Explorer settings before attempting to launch the "open" or "save as" dialog box. Altering the way intranets are detected, for
example, does not alleviate the symptoms.
    11. Turning off Antivirus software (Avira Personal) does not alleviate the issue.
This issue is causing a huge loss of work efficiency. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.
    Sincerely,
    Rick

    Hello Rick,
Through all the research I have done so far and talking with a few other coworkers what the common issues that cause this are is:
    1. Antivirus: disabling the antivirus is not good enough it needs to be totaly uninstalled and retested.
    2. startup programs: these need to be disabled through either Safe mode with networking or the start menu or MSconfig.
    3. Office addins: Disable all of them see if that helps. Then turn them back on one by one to see which addin is causing the issue.
To disable addins: 1. open up regedit and navigate to this key. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Addins and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins
Then change the LoadBehavior to 0 this will disable the addin. 3 lets it run. Since this affected only one user HKEY_LOCAL_USER might be your best bet but don't rule out the other location.
To verify there are no addins running go to the File tab>options>Add-Ins make sure nothing is listed under Active Application Add-ins.
    I hope this helps

  • Deploying Office 2010 with SP2 / Access runtime 2010

I am trying to install Office 2010 thru OCT / GPO. Starting a computerstartup script which runs a batchfile. The batchfile is starting the deinstalltion of Office 2003 and installs Office 2010. In the updates folder is also SP2 integrated so that SP2 is
    also installed.
In another batchfile and another policy i also install Access Runtime 2010.
The problem i have is that the installation of office 2010 is starting and installs, however the SP2 is often not. Sometimes it does and sometimes it don't. That is also the fact for Runtime 2010. Sometimes it does and sometimes not, then only Office 2010
    is installed without SP2.
because he sometimes installes access runtime 2010 and Office 2010 SP2 it makes it more difficult.
The batchfiles are running in computer startup script so before the user can log in to their W7 systems.

  • IP ranges used for Office 2010 activation

Does anyone know what IP ranges Microsoft use for activation of Office 2010? We are periodically experiencing "Communication error(0x80072EFE)" when clients are trying to activate Office. This seems to be dropped in the firewall, so I need to know
    what IPs to open for.
I have looked everywhere, but I can't find an updated list of IPs for this.
    Regards,

    Hi,
The error occurs due to a Web filter that is in place in the environment, client installations of Office 2010 are unable to communicate with Microsoft activation servers. This connection is required to perform online activation of Office 2010 products.
Try adding the following list of URLs to the Web filter, if you will then be able to successfully activate installations of Office 2010 online:

  • Office 2010 post SP2 updates deploy with MDT

So I'm looking forward to deploy my office 2010 pro plus (VLK media, activating via KMS host) with MDT, and I have some configs setup using Office Customization Tool to install it. I have the SP2 installer that installs after Office 2010 is installed.
Everything works well, however until i realize that are still a few hundred MB's of update (security patches etc) after the SP2 install. So allowing MDT to install the update on run time is not ideal ( consumes more time and bandwidth) so my question is where
can I get all the post SP2 updates for office pro 2010? (I'm assuming they're all .msp files where i can dump it all into the update folder in office).
    Thank you for your feedback!

    Hi Jack,
Microsoft Office sustained Engineering team publish news about security updates, public updates, service packs for Office in this site:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_sustained_engineering/archive/tags/office+2010/default.aspx
You can find all the Office updates that released each month in this site. However, the updates that applicable to your computer are really depend on your setup environment, not all that released are applicable.
I would suggest you to go to Windows Update, and Check for updates. Windows Update will automatically search updates that are applicable to your computer. You can choose to download the updates manually and save it
    to your computer.

  • How to uninstall Office 2010 32 bit and install Office 2013 64 bit

    Hi Everyone,
I am rather new to SCCM.  I have setup a SCCM 2012 SP1 system.  I am now trying to setup an Application where it will install Office 2013 64 bit.  Everything seemed to go smoothly until I tried testing it.  I received an error that I
cannot install the 64 bit version of Office 2013 because Office 2010 32 bit is already installed.
I tried to modify the MSP where it will uninstall Office 2010 before installing Office 2013 but apparently as soon as it starts it checks for the 32 bit installation and exits when it finds it.
Could someone give me a detailed solution (since I am new to SCCM)?
    Ken

While referring to older versions of office I think this link may apply: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f255e17d-4e1f-4231-8a88-d63f41c83c52/how-to-automatcally-uninstall-office-2007-32-bit-for-installation-of-office-2010-64-bit?forum=officesetupdeployprevious
Also you might create an office 2010 package, with an uninstall program that removes it.
Then in your office 2013 package make the uninstall for 2010 to be run first.

The language of this installation package is not supported by your system.
I have tried running the Microsoft FixIt tool to remove any traces of Office 2007 and Office 2010.  Also, I have followed the instructions in

I believe the user had both Office 2007 and Office 2010 installed previously.  There is no article to remove all traces of Office 2010.

  • "An Office 2003 installation on your computer is corrupted and setup cannot continue" error on Office 2010 Pro install

I am currently trying to install Office 2010 Pro Plus onto my machine that has Access 97 and Access 2003, Visio 2003, Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003, and Word 2003 installed. I need to keep the previous versions of Office installed as they are used for development
work. When I try installing Office 2010 I've stopped with the following error message: "An Office installation on your computer is corrupted and setup cannot continue. Remove or repair the Office 2003 product and re-run setup." I can't remove and
repair doesn't seem to do anything. Most posts suggest removing previous office versions or deleting/altering the MS Office registry keys (which would damage the previous versions of Office). Is there a solution to install Office 2010 independently of any
    other version of Office installed?

I figured out a method to finally install Office 2010 bypassing the error stated in the title, by manually removing all the keys that included the term "Office 2003" from the Windows registry.
I share my fix with more details and pictures step by step here :
    Link
Please note that you need to be very careful when manually editing the Windows registry as it may cause problems to your operating system and even cause a massive failure requiring you to re-format your disk.
Feel free to use my fix at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any damage caused or data loss.

  • Uninstall Office Standard 2010 during installation of Office ProPlus 2010

    Hello,
Office 2010 Standard is installed on most of our Computers. Now we have to replace it with Office 2010 ProPlus.
I created a script which uses an MSP during the installtion. Here i configure, that all old Versions should be uninstalled.
See the attached screenshot (sorry ist in German).
Unfortunatly the Standard Version is not removed automatically.
I added this unsinatll line to my installton script:
    "%programfiles(x86)%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe" /uninstall STANDARD /config %~dp0Remove_Standard\config_uninstall.xml
and ist working if Office 2010 Standard is installed. But if ist not installed, I am getting a message which has to be apllied and so a sielent installtion is not possible.
    Any ideas?

I would handle this as any other major Office update.
    1. Create a deployment source of Office that works the way you want.
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/How-to-Deploying-Office-0f954e7f
    2. Deploy Office using a wrapper (PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit).
    https://psappdeploytoolkit.codeplex.com/
    3. Add detection of the old Office version to the "Pre Installation" phase of the script
    4. If exists, remove the old Office version before installing the new version.

  • Project Professional 2013 Installations Fails with Office 2010 installed on Windows 7 x86

When attempting to install Project Professional 2013 Pro (x86) on Windows Professional x86 PC that has Office 2010 ProSp2 installed client getting an error message at the end of the installation "Project 2013 has encountered an error during setup".
I have gotten the installer to work on x64 PC with Office 2010 installed. (Something worth noting that even thought I set the reboot to prompt its automatically reboots without warning but, appears to be working.)  I also tried using the OTC, custom XML
file and just running setup.exe and get the error no matter what. When looking in the logs I there are MSI installer error with an error: Product:
Microsoft Project Professional 2013 - Update '{A6FFA77F-C1C1-43D3-A2C7-6A5B68138D9F}' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Windows Installer can create logs to help troubleshoot issues with installing software packages. Use the following link for
instructions on turning on logging support: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=23127
Without having to uninstall Office 2010 what do I need to modify in the installer to get it to Project 2013 Pro to install on the x86 machine?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Your environment will support 32 bit of Project professional 2013 (x86) as you have Windows and Office of (X86).
You try to modify registry then you wont face issue.
The issue when you hit a "1653" is that Windows
Installer "DisableRollback" is set. Office 2013 requires that "rollback" be enabled. If you are getting a "1653"
error in your logs as Ken did then the solution is to delete the "DisableRollback" (or set to '0') at the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
these are the issues I've seen:
Scheduler service was stopped. At a cmd window typing "net start schedule" resolves the problem.
CMD.exe was customized via the following registry key. Solution was to temporarily disable the customization by changing autorun value to autorun_old.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Command Processor
Permission issues - seems some custom permissions affected Ingram's install which he explained in his previous post.
Environment variable "ComSpec" had been modified (semicolon added). Fix was to remove the added semicolon (there should be no semicolon).
The way to identify you are hitting this specific issue is if in the %temp%\OfficeSetup.log there is a mention of "Office64MUI.msi" failing to install with return value of 1603
If you want to enable verbose logging via the following key, rerun your failed install, and collect all the setup and MSI* logs that will give more information.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
    "logging"= "voicewarmup"

I've been trying to install Office 2010 service pack 2 (32 bit) multiple ways without success. I've tried getting it directly from Microsoft Update, downloading the full file from Microsoft and installing it, using WSUS to deploy to clients, and I've tried

I too have been unable to install the Office 2010 SP2 update on either a Win7 or a Win 8 system.  Researching the errors I got led me to discover the following:
    1. Many people are encountering errors during the SP2 installation. Some were able to get around it by downloading the self-installing package and bypassing Windows Update.  Some were able to get it installed by first doing a Repair on Office 210 itself
first, and then installing SP2.  But many others have not been able to install it at all.
    2. Apparently a common and insurmountable issue that prevents SP2 from installing is the lack of the MSOCACHE directory.  This directory normally gets installed on a machine during the original install of Office, and contains all the install files used
during the installation.  Apparently the idea behind creating MSOCACHE was to allow subsequent updates without requiring the user to have the original source CD available.
The problem is that if MSOCACHE is deleted, which is an option many people choose, you can then no longer do any updates to Office.
I am one of those people.
I found a posting that described a way to recreate MSOCACHE from the source CD.  I did that, and the SP2 update actually got farther - it started to install stuff but then stopped and asked for a particular file.  I found the file on the CD and
pointed the installer to it, but it said the file was not found and quit.  So my install still failed.
The last response I got at the Microsoft Answers site was to wait until SP2 is debugged.  It's not clear to me this will ever happen, but we'll see.

    Hi,
Boot your system in clean boot mode and disable antivirus. Then try to run Windows Updates.
Step 1: Try following the KB article to perform Clean Boot.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After you used the clean boot to resolve your problem, reset the computer to start as usual.
    Step 2: Disable Antivirus software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you
should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
