Re-installed my OS, cant find iphoto

I just re-installed OS x 10.5 and I went through the whole process and iPhoto is nowhere to be found. I have all the other applications that come with iLife (GarageBand, iTunes, iMovie, etc.), but iPhoto isn't on my MacBook anywhere. When I put in both install discs I couldn't find it listed.
Am I missing something or have I really lost iPhoto?
PLEASE HELP!

iPhoto is installed with iLife, not OS X.

Did you purchase the Mac new?  Or did you install Mountain Lion and do a clean install?
iPhoto and iMovie and Garage Band do not come with OS X.  However, they do come with a new Mac.  The first time you set up a new Mac and launch the App Store you will be prompted to enter your Apple ID and "register" iLife to it.  This lets you re-download them on any Macs you own.
However if you do a clean install of OS X they're not installed, you'd need to go to the App Store and re-download them.
If you purchased a Mac used, the original owner registered them and you don't have rights to them.  You'd need to purchase them on your own.

Yet another example of why it's a VERY BAD IDEA to do a clean install of Lion unless you are already VERY familiar with how to tweak the Mac OS. There's a reason Apple engineers removed it as an option. To accomplish it you have to erase your disk; not for the faint hearted.
Do you have a backup? PLEASE don't tell us you did this without a robust backup.
You erased the operating machine, so your computer went to the only place it could find one, the Recovery partition. And it's minimal, so it has to download everything in small chunks to reinstall itself. So yeah, it could take 10 hours.
Here's another option. Do you still have the original disks that came with your machine? Put one in and restart from it. You can reinstall your old system much faster. Then go to the Mac App Store and your purchase history and see if you can redownload Lion (I think that still works).
And this time just do yourself a favor and install per Apple's instructions. When the machine starts into Lion, use Setup ***'t (the first thing that fires up) to migrate from your backup.

  • Cant find iphoto after restoring my Macbook Pro!

i restored my entire macbook due to unexplainable "other" files weighing it down. Now I can't find iphoto. where do i download this and how come it didnt restore on its own? I looked on the app store and itunes but couldnt find it. Please advise.

where do i download this and how come it didnt restore on its own?
IPhoto is not part of MacOS X.
Reinstall iPhoto, like you originally installed it. Which MacOS X version do you have, and how did you originally install iPhoto?
The problem is, that iPhoto is no longer sold at the AppStore.   If your iPhoto version came preinstalled with MacOS X 10.7 or later, look at the Purchases tab of the AppStore and reinstall from there.
For earlier versions reinstall from the disk, that came with your Mac. But these earlier versions will not run on Yosemite. Which version do you have now?

  • Cant find iphoto..

i tried putting some picture on my computer today and i could not find iphoto..some how got deleted off my computer..my computer came with 2 cds.would i need to use those to have i photo back?

Then look in the Install Pre-bundled Software installer.
What do you mean you "downloaded" it? Downloading is the process of getting files from an Internet server or another computer. You can't download the OS X installer. Installers "install," they do not "download" software.

  • I had to reformat my MacBook Pro and I cant find iPhoto any places, do i have to buy it in the appstore now??

My MacBook had to be reformat and everything on the mac disappeared, including Iphoto.
Since Iphoto was on the computer when i bought it i cant understand why. so my cuestion is do i now have to
but Iphoto in appstore or can i find it somewear ? thank you for helping

You should be able to restore the iLife apps, see this support article:
From Accept iLife: OS X: About OS X Recovery
If you erase install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
After installation, start (up) from OS X.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.

  • I think i just deleted my iphoto with ALL my pictures and preview wont open either i cant find iphoto on my imac at all anymore Can anyone help me please?

Hi, i was inputing old photos on my imac and one came up i wanted deleted but i couldnt find  a way to get rid of it so i went into finder and clicked on today and just selected all and deleted them. And to top it off i went to the trash been and emptied it. Now i have no photo including the thousands of pics that were saved in it and also when i click preview nothing happens as well. please anyone help me get my iphoto and pics back. thank you

Your best option is to restore a backup library made before this happened.
Otherwise you you can try using a file recovery applicaiton like  SubrosaSoft FileSalvage.  It will run in demo mode and show you what images it can recover before you have to purchase it.  Other similar applicaiton can be found by going to MacUpdate.com and searching for "file recovery".
I guess I don't have to issue the standard warning of do not make any change to an iPhoto library from the Finder, do I.

  • Cant find iPhoto albums when trying to upload picture on browser!!

Whenever i try to attach a picture online i go to >Pictures>Iphoto Library
but my when i click on iphoto library it doesnt open up to any of my folders/albums..
it just closes and doesnt give me the next option and i tried looking on finder for the albums but i could find them :/

    The firs one of these...
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Cant find iphoto library

My 1 year old was playing w/ my keyboard and I think accidentally erased Iphoto. The icon is still on the toolbar, but when I click on it I get a message saying "iPhoto can’t continue without a Photo Library. Make sure the disk containing your Photo Library is connected." Please help me recover the missing folder. It's not in Trash and a search didnt help.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
If Spotlight will find your photos under Originals, then you can find where the library is. If i has been moved then you'll need to get it back to the Pictures Folder.
If it's in the Pictures Folder, then you likely have a damaged library. For details on correcting this:

Yes, you need to watch your disk space very carefully. That disk is very full and you should consider using an external disk to store files.

  • I cant find iphoto anywhere on my osx leopard op sys

help....just bought this imac and there is no icon or app for iphoto

So exactly which version of OS are you running? And you just purchased it?
iPhoto is supposed to be included; first, I'd check the Applications folder to make sure, then the Mac App Store under Purchases and see if it is listed there.

  • I cant find the download for 10.8 and every other software download just says "you need 10.8" to download.

I cant find the download for 10.8. Every update I try to download and intall just says "you need version 10.8 to install but, I cant find 10.8 to download.

When you do buy it from the Mac App Store  ($20), it will download to your Applications Folder as
    Install OS X Mountain Lion
provided that your hardware can support Mountain Lion.  If your hardware is not capable, the Mac App Store will not let you buy it.
