Re-installed router software - can't change password!

I had to format my HD so I re-installed my linksys WRT54g wireless router and used the installation disk.
at the end it says to put in my password. I put in every combination of password I could think of, but it keep going back and asking me again. so I finally gave up and then installed the USB adaptor to my laptop.
Now I did indeed get the router to connect to the laptop, but there seems to be no security on it. It says 'disabled' when it searches for routers. I live in a crowded apartment complex and I know my connection will get hijacked if I don't change this.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to secure this? thanks!

Sir,
Are you able to go Online with the Computer, when it's directly
plugged into the Router, now ?
If the answer is yes,
We could finish it with ease in a minute or two . . .

a different apple id apearing when i try to install updates, how can i change that apple id?

That's the ID that was used for the purchase.  ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them.  Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password.  Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.

Extremely mad. NO IDEA WHY I CAN'T CHANGE PASSWORD LIKE "lajiskype" or "horribleskype."

The apps are free with iOS 7 if you purchased a new device after September 2013. The apps do not come free just because you are running iOS 7 now. Did you purchase or receive a new iPad recently?
If you did, are you using the same Apple ID to get the apps that you used to activate the iPad? If you are, sign out of your ID, restart your iPad, sign in again and go back to the App Syore and see if the apps show up as free.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and go back to the settings and sign in again.

  • Can I change password in Unix with JAAS??

Can I change password in Unix with JAAS??
    Thanks

JAAS - change password ?? why would you use JAAS to change your password. If you really want to you could possibly write code to make a system call to change the password. And I dont think that would be easy

  • Can't change password for mobile user on certain client computers

I have a MacBook Pro that has mobile user accounts. The user accounts are defined in the WGM of my macpro Server. The mobile user account works fine except that after some time I could not change the password on the client computer. I could change it in WGM but then it was not updated on the client. I tried changing the password from the SystemPreferences -> Accounts option as well as from the command line with "passwd". When using the command line passwd it just says "sorry". When using the Accounts option it asks to contact the "system manager".
I called Apple Support. They suggested recreating the mobile user account on the client. I did that, and everything worked fine, including changing passwords on the client. But, after several weeks, I again cannot change the password on the client. I can change it in WGM fine, but again the client is not updated.
It seems that the password database on the client gets confused about user password changing privileges after some time.
To make matters more complicated, everything works fine for another client computer, including changing passwords.
    Any suggestions?

This problem was related to the case sensitivity of computer names. I had recreated the LDAP binding to the client computer with the computer name in all lower case
characters. However, when I created the mobile user initially, I had used a mix of upper and lower case characters (the name that shows up upon reverse DNS lookup). Once I re-created the LDAP binding with the original name, everthing worked fine.

  • Can't change password or delete a Mac OS X account

I set up an account for my son (6 years old) so that he could have his own desktop and access to his own 'stuff' w/o getting into my stuff. I'd like to change the password (I just used my password) to something easy for him. But when I go into 'accounts' it doesn't let me change his password. I log on as an administrator but the change password button for his account doesn't lite up. I also thought about deleting his account and starting over, but I can't delete it either. I've clicked the lock at the bottom as well and that doesn't seem to work... Any ideas?

How do you log out? Is that different from just switching from one account to the other? I use the pull-down tab in the upper right corner with our names on it to switch from one to the other... But never really 'log out.'

  • Can't change Password after hack-in on IPHone, others work?

Ok, so I'm on vacation last week, and on Thursday I can't get in to get my email on my Iphone.  Get home, get on yahoo and find an email sent from Yahoo to my email, saying I had been hacked and so I guess they cancelled my password.  Why send the email to something I can't get to with it?  Anyway, I change password, and said pw workd on IMac, laptop and IPad....but it won't work on the IPhone.  A message comes up that says "Yahoo Server Unavailable. Please try again later."  I've done it about 10 times now in the past 5 days and get the same thing.  I also note that I go to save the new password, but it doesn't save it, it reverts to the old one in •••••••• s  .Is there something wrong with Yahoo/sbc email going to the IPhones or does it mean something else. thanks.  I really need the IPhone to receive emails when I'm not home.

Yahoo has hundreds of servers for authentication. They are notoriously bad about synchronizing with each other.
You may need to try to add the account multiple times. You may just have to wait it out.  This is a problem with Yahoo, not with your phone.  One of the reasons I dumped Yahoo and switched to gmail years ago.

  • Airport Extreme problems--drops connection and can't change password

Hi, I am having multiple problems with my Airport Extreme (n) base station. All of these problems occur on all three of my machines. MacBook Pro 2007 model, MacBook Pro i7 2.66, and iMac 24".
    1. Sometimes the airport connection works, but then drops off for hours at a time with no explanation, and then starts working again by itself. The green light is lit all the time. Also the airport bars on my menu bar are showing that it's connected. However when I go through diagnostics it says I don't have a connection and to restart the modem, which I do to no avail.
    2. When it is connected, there is often strange download activity (shown via istats menu), even when no applications are open. It's around 200k. When I turn the airport off the downloading stops. This only happens via airport base station connection, not when connected via ethernet.
    3. I have tried numerous times to reset my AE base station password via airport utility. I go through the process. It tells me the configuration changes were successful and then it restarts the base station. When I reconnect the airport connection, it still uses the old password. I cannot get it to actually accept the new password.
Does anyone have similar experiences? I am not sure what to do and have not seen any simiar threads in the forum.
    Thanks for any help,
    lula

Yes, I am pretty sure it isn't that. That modem and it's connection works fine, but it's on the other side of the house.
These various problems (connection dropping, mysterious download when no apps are on, and not being able to change password) all started about two months ago, before that I never had problems with the airport. I have had the same ADSL modem (provided by my phone/cable company) the whole time.
What possible problems do you think the provided modem could cause?
And why am I not be able to change my airport password? That part really puzzles me.
Do you think if I bought a new modem--one completely independent and not connected to a particular isp it would solve the problem. I am willing to try that, but I don't know if it will make a difference.

  • Xp clients can't change password

Last week I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard server. All has gone well with xp clients joining the domain, logging in with roaming profiles. Today I found that the change password does not work (this is the first try for this - it worked on leopard setup fine). I have it set so users must change their password on first log in. I also tested trying to change the password on an account that had a password set without needing to change it on first login and it fails also. The error I get is:
The system cannot change your password now because the domain DOMAIN-NAME is not available.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    thx

Hi, I found the same problem. Impossible to change any password by an XP client.
What is this system worth, when such an essential feature fails?

  • Can't Change Password for SSID's any longer!!!

I have 3 Cisco WAP 2000 and have two SSID's set up with passwords. I usually change the passwords every 3 months or so, but now when I log in I can't even see where I can change the passwords. there is no longer a drop down list under Wireless. There actually aren't any drop down lists under any of the Menu items any longer. So weird. Any help is appreciated. Thank you
    Shauna

    Hello Shauna,
Issues like this are usually related to the browser your are using, or possibly your anti-virus/security software.
Try opening the page in a different browser.  Firefox tends to work the best.  I would also recommend checking your firmware to see if it can be updated to support a newer browser.
Since the WAP2000s are a bit older, you can also try as early a version of Internet Explorer as you can find, or running in compatibility view.
    Thank you for choosing Cisco,
