Re-Installing Final Cut Studio 5 on Mac OSX 10.6.8

I used to use FCP 5 on my Mac using OS 10.5.8, after I upgraded to 10.6, I realize there's some problem opening FCP files,
I tried to unistall and re-install FCP 5 on my Mac now, which is using 10.6.8 now, error message shows
"Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software.  See the Read Me for details."
In addition to that, I had changed my display card from ADM Radeon 2600XT(which used to work) to NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT; I'm not sure if that's also a cause, but I suppose not.
Here's my config.:

Thanks a lot!

A follow-up question, I had it successfully installed and worked on the same computer with FCP 5 when the OS was 10.5.8.
and is there anything can do to upgrade the FCP 5 to 5.1 (instead of buying a new version FCP x)?
Thanks!

  • Final Cut Studio 3, Mac OSX 10.5.8 USB YAY, internal HDD NAY?

While capturing from an HD CAM SR into Apple Pro Res HQ on a multi-core
Intel-Mac I have no problem while the files are captured onto a USB drive,
but when capturing onto internal, superior HDD (not system drive) I get dropped frames.
I am currently contemplating upgrading to SnowLeopard to eliminate this problem, but will this help?
    Any thoughts?
I have also tried capturing onto a Raid 0 configuration, but still the same problem.
    cheers

They are journaled and extended, running on a software raid,
but according to the technician on the machine, the same problem
occurred when he ran the system with a single high-speed TB drive.
So I am guessing it must be a problem with the SATA controller.
Or would that present itself during the AJA Test?

  • Can i install Final cut studio 5 and DVD Studio Pro 4 on OSX lion

Is any body who can help me on giving me some direction on how to install Final Cut Studio 5.1 and DVD Studio Pro 4 on my OSX Lion, if it's doable. Thanks

The easiest way is to install Rosetta from a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD first.
There's also a way of doing it via Terminal that's been posted here a couple of times. A search should bring that up.

  • What do I need to do to install Final Cut Studio version 2 on a new Mac Book Pro

What do I need to do to install Final Cut Studio version 2 on a new Mac Book Pro that does not support power PC anymore

You need to install Rosetta from a OSX 10.6 install disk.
FCS2 is intel native, it is only the installer that requires PPC support.

  • Re installing Final Cut Studio on my NEW Mac pro?

I originally purchased Final Cut Studio (on a G5 Power PC), Then installed the universal crossgrade,
then installed Final Cut Studio 2. Now I have a New Mac Pro (Intel Chips) How do I go about
reinstalling FCS? do I need the original serial key from the first version or do I just use my
    FCS 2 serial Key?
    J>H<L

    J>H<L
You'll need both keys, but you only have to do one installation.
The FCS2 installer will ask for the FCS2 key. If that passes, another window will open asking for the FCS key. If that key passes, then it's just a normal installation.

  • Cannot install Final Cut Studio on new Mac Pro

When I go to install Final Cut Studio on my new Mac Pro, it tells me that "Final Cut Studio Installer requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card."
I have the ATI 5870 and, just a wild guess here, I'm betting it does support Quartz Extreme.
A software update doesn't help me here because I cannot get the software installed the first place to be able to update it. What should I do?

FCS 1...Final Cut Pro 5.0? Won't work on an Intel. PowerPC only. You need at least 5.1...which wasn't a free upgrade, so updating won't work. You need FCP 5.1, FCP 6 or the most recent FCP 7. Those are the only versions that will work on the newer macs.

  • Kernel Panic(s) after installing Final Cut Studio

So I've been using this Mac Pro for 10+ months.
10G Ram, 3 internal hard drives, OSX 10.5.8.
Been running Logic Pro and Aperture and other small apps with zero problems.
Recently, the only change to my computer is I installed Final Cut Studio and Logic Studio Upgrade.
Past 3 days I've gotten 2 kernel panics. (Report said something about FBD Memory?)
(1st one, I was using Mpeg Streamclip to transcode footage.
2nd one, I was only running Safari.)
I repaired disk permissions, used diskwarrior, did the hardware diagnostic test thing, nothing came up.
I asked Apple Genius but they just said reduce everything to 'base config' and troubleshoot from there.
I wanna ask you guys, do you know of any obvious existing conflicts between the software that might be going on? Am I missing something obvious?

Have a look at System Profiler and if you have ECC errrors on the third slot (after rendering some time), you might have the same problem like me and it's not solved yet. But you can take out the third dimm or run smcFanControl and raise the speed a little. Both helps in my case as a workaround.

  • Why Can't I Install Final Cut Studio?

I have a MacBook Pro which is about 12 months old. It has a 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 Processor and 8G of RAM. I have been trying to install Final Cut Studio 5.1. Yeah I know that is an OLLLLLLLLLLLD version. Why I chose not to update is neither here nor there. I was about to update when Final Cut Pro X was realeaded and FCS vanished into the ether. I really only wanted DVD Pro but when that wouldn't install I went back to Square 1.
The specificationa as stated are:- "These discs contain the files required to install Final Cut Studio 5.1 on either PPC or Intel based Mac computers."
The error message that shows up on the screen when I click on the install package is:- "You can't open the application Final Cut Studio pro.mpkg because Power PC applucations are no longer supported."
This is despite the stated specifications and the fact that there is a Universal Icon on the discs.
I am also having a simillar but not the same problem with iLife '06 but i'll start another thread on that.
I'm confused, thanks for your help in advance.

Your problem is you are running Lion as your OS (10.7) and Lion does not support Rosetta which is required to run the INSTALLER of FCS 2. If you were running Snow Leopard, you would have been able to do the install.

  • How can I install Final Cut Studio 2 on my new MacBook Pro with Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.
Does anyone know how I can obtain Rosetta? Or another way to install this without it?
    Thank you ! :)

There is no way to add Rosetta support because it is not supported by OS X Lion at system level. This has been documented before the release of OS X Lion by itself.
If you really need Final Cut Studio 2, I would return your computer if possible, and purchase a Mac that is capable of running Snow Leopard (all 2010 models, early 2011 MBP and some other 2011 models)

  • Imac won't let me install Final cut studio 2..it will let me install the upgrade, but it has no live type and i need it to work on my current projects. How do I get Live type back installed in iMac

I just purchased an iMac for home and went to install final cut studio 2 and it gave me an error saying something about "PowerPC" not used or something like that. Installed the studio upgrade just fine...but it has no "Live Type" which I need to work on projects I have been using in my Mac Pro at my work place. How do I get "Live Type" to install in this iMac? Downloaded Live Type upgrade but that won't update cause there's no "Live Type" in the applications.

It sounds like you have Lion installed on your new imac, although your profile says SL 10.6.8 (you may want to change this.)
If you have the Snow Leopard install disc I believe you can install "Rosetta" from the extras folder which will then, if you have the original FCS2 discs , allow you to select and install Live Type and LIve Type content only from the custom install options.
I hope this will work for you.

  • 7 Hours to Install Final Cut Studio 2??

I just installed Final Cut studio 2 on my Brand New Mac Pro and it took 7 hours... I installed it on my other Mac Pro back in May and it maybe took maybe an hour. I was just going to ask and see if this was normal or if I should be concerned. I have also put a black magic card in the machine and run into some issues with that as well.
Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

Here's the trick you NEED to know.
Once you know how to do this you will never again need to waste an entire evening inserting DVD's.
    1) Make disk images of all your DVD's using Disk Utility. Be sure to save them as DVD/CD Master in the Image Format dialogue box, with no compression added. Save all the disk images to an external drive if possible. Final Cut Pro users all have big external drives, but in a pinch this would work off an internal drive if you have the space.
    2) Mount all of the DVD copies on your desktop, all of them at one time. This assumes you have ample memory, which if you are running Final Cut Pro you'd better have.
    3) Start the install. Select your options. Then watch the magic as your Mac loads the DVD copies on your desktop until the process is done. It's that easy.
It takes a while to make the disk images, but once you have them saved to your external drive you can use them again when you get a new machine or need to reinstall for any reason. This works with Logic Studio as well as the Adobe suites- I've used this process for years. In the old days we used this process for floppies; works just as well with CD's and DVD's. Once you try it you will be dedicating an external drive to software installer disk images.
    Cool, or what?

  • Can't install Final Cut Studio

I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.6 and am trying to install Final Cut Studio. When individually do Livetype or Motion it works. When I do the Final Cut disc I get this error message.
"Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software. See the Read Me for details."
My computer should have necessary specifications with 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
    What should I do?

That could very well be a Pre-Intel version of FCS. It won't install properly on an Intel Mac.

  • Need Help Installing Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1 on Macbook Pro

I am trying to install an old version of Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1) on my macbook pro (OS X Mountain Lion). When I tried to install it, it said, "power pc applications not supported on this computer". I was told to "uninstall" OS X on my computer, install Final Cut Studio, and reinstall OS X Mountain Lion again. Is this true? If so, how do I do this?

There is a "bug" in the installer application of Final Cut Studio Pro 2 that will fail to work in Lion or Mt. Lion; it will work successfully in Snow Leopard and a subsequent upgrade to Lion or Mt. Lion after the successful installation of FCSP2 will continue to work.
Once Mt. Lion is installed you can use one of these two methods to install FCSP2:
    1)  Pacifist
    2)  Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method:
