Re-Installing HP Support Assistant

My PC is an HP G5350UK running Windows 7 64 bit
I am trying to re-instal HP Support Assistant but have, so far, been unsuccessful.
I downloaded and tried to run both sp44304.exe and sp58919.exe which have been suggested in different HPSA links.  I am prompted to overwrite the files which I do but then nothing happens.  Apparently I should be prompted to select "Yes" and allow the program to restart the computer.  Unfortunately nothing happens.
Does anyone have any ideas please?

Hi,
You're welcome
I still believe this issue is being caused by either an incomplete removal of a previous version of HPSA, or a corruption of the registry keys responsible for configuring the installation.
Try the following.
Download the installer for the latest version of HPSA again from the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.
HP Support Assistant - 58919.
When done, open your Downloads folder and as before, right click the installer, select 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted sp58919 folder and you'll see another installer called Setup - right click this and again, select 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted Setup folder, right click the bottom file titled UninstallHPSA application ( with a size of 112Kb ) and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the uninstall routine.
You will probably see no visual sign that this is running, so leave the PC alone for a good 10 minutes - When done, restart the PC.
When windows has reloaded, clear your Downloads folder of all the HPSA installers and extracted folders, then download the following version and save it to your Downloads folder.
HP Support Assistant - 44304.
When done, open your Downloads folder, right click the installer, select 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted sp44304 folder, right click the bottom file titled UninstallHPTCA application ( with a size of 406Kb ) and select 'Run as Administrator' to start this uninstall routine.
Again, you will almost certainly see no visual sign that this is running, so leave the PC alone for a good 10 minutes - When done, restart the PC again.
Let windows fully load, then see if you can use Recovery Manager to reinstall your original version of HP Support Assistant - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
Recovery Manager - Windows 7
Does this version install Ok and if so, does it run correctly when launched?

Did you first go to the Control Panel and make sure that the HP Support Assistant software was not listed (uninstalled)?

  • HP Pavilion g7 can't find or re-install HP Support Assistant & HP Solution Center

After a week or so ago, I discovered my printer could no longer scan. Made several (& I mean several) attempts at following the instructions to install the full driver for my HP Photosmart C7180 printer.
I then ordered the full drive CD for Window 7 (64) from HP and I am still having problems.
After going around and around trying to get it to work; uninstalling and re-installing everything listed in the Support & Downloads on the HP website. I discovered both my HP Support Assistant and my HP Solution Center are no longer on my computer. They won't re-install either following the instructions per HP Support & Download on HP's website.
I have no clue how to get things straightened out.
The most frustrating thing is there seems to be many other people with printer/scan problems even with other printers. Everything I have read so far as a solution to their problems is the same thing I have been trying to do.
    Someone please enlighten me?

  • Re-install HP Support Assistant

HP Desktop IE9, Home Premium, P7-1210, Win 7.
My HP Support Assistant stopped working.  I uninstalled, using Microsoft Fixit successfully.  Now I'd like to re-install.  What's the easiest way to do this?  I went to http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html where Win 7 is listed, but I don't see any prompt for Win7.  The first prompt seems to be below the line for Vista, which I do not have.   Can you help me?  (maybe I could "recover" but can't find "recovery manager" by doing search of programs.)

  • HP Support Assistant stopped working after HP Network Check Helper was installed

My computer model: HP Pavilion SlimLine s5-1160 desktop with Windows 7 64-bit Media Center
While I was away from my computer this morning HP installed HP Network Check Helper. When I returned there was a message that I needed to restart the computer. Upon restarting I received the same message. After trying several more times I disabled the helper using Manage Add-ons, but the restart computer message keeps appearing. When I tried to open HP Support Assistant it would not open, but instead the restart message popped up. In HP Setup Manager I clicked on Get Assistance, then Launch Support Assistant, and got....the restart message. If I open HP's Windows Help and Support and click on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)" I get....the restart message. I re-installed HP Support Assistant with the latest version on the the HP website. Upon restarting the computer I got....the restart message.
So, the computer keeps telling me I need to restart it, HP Support Assistant will not open, and I can't obtain an HP support number to call by clicking on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)". Does anyone know a number I can call to "Get in touch with someone at HP"?
    Thanks.

  • HP Support Assistant - Uninstalled and Reinstalled - Now it won't Work at all!

My HP Support Assistant was sticking on Creating Restore Point.   Well, I followed your instructions for this that was posted in numerous other threads and uninstalled HP Support Assistant and re-installed it, and now it won't do anything.  It opens up and the NEXT button is not highlighted so if I click on it nothing happens...it's totally worthless now.  What can I do to make it work again???  HELP!! (see image below - all I can do is minimize, enlarge or close that screen.  NEXT button does nothing!)
My computer is only 1 year old and I run Windows 8 - 64 bit.  Never had a problem with it before, but tried the Tune up and it was stuck on the restore point, so I followed your instructions, re-booted after un-installing and uninstalling, now it won't do anything.   I also tried restoring HP Support Assistant from the Recovery Manager and it's still doing the same thing - nothing.  How am I supposed to get my updates now???
    I have an HP Pavilion p6 2310.  I haven't installed Windows 8.1, it's just Windows 8.  Thank you.

  • HP Support Assistant (Win 7 x64): Error 1316 on update/install

HP Support Assistant was running and downloaded an update for itself, which doesn't install properly. I am left with shortcuts that no longer work - HSPA.exe is missing.
I went direct to HP site, downloaded HSPA latest version, and tried to install.
I get toward the end of the instal...
    Then get this error:
    Then HSPA unintalls itself...
Then I get a final Windows error:
I have tried a System Restore, but it doesn't work (no restore point early enough).
Can you help me fix this problem?
(Unlike some other posts, I really LIKE HSPA and want to keep using it.)
I am using Win 7 Ultimate x64 on an Envy 1104-tx.
    Please help!!

Unfortunately, it doesn't fix the problem because now it won't install via Control Panel:
I select the HPSA and ask to uninstall:
I get the message that it's preparing to remove...
Then it "crashes" with the same error as before:
Now what should I do? I would really like to get HPSA working again.

  • HP Support Assistant not downloading and installing

Hi, I got a brand new ZBook 15 G2 a few days ago, everything seems to work OK except for the HP software that came with it, which I find both ironic and frustrating. I've tried downloading the updates and installing on two occasions, no luck. Windows Updates work fine, along with my other software's updates, so it's not my connection or internet related. No matter what I do (selecting all, just one, restarting), I keep getting the below even after it seemed to have downloaded the updates:
BTW, I think it is poor design not to show the user how much of the download has been downloaded, a progress bar doesn't cut it, one needs to see a percentage or better yet, something like "25.6 of 157 MB downloaded", preferably with the time elapsed so that you can gauge how long it's going to take. Or just give us the links to the updates so we can download it ourselves.
Is HP Support Assistant required, or can I uninstall it? At this stage it's not serving any purpose other than taking up space on my PC and annoying the hell out of me. I apologise for my negative tone, but I didn't expect to struggle with software coming from a reputable company like HP, especially after paying premium bucks for my ZBook.
    Regards,
    Will

    Hi Will,
You can either uninstall it completely from Control Panel & then reinstall to check if the problem was with the HP support assistant software version installed in your laptop:
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6978815&swItemId=ob_144416_1&swEnvOid=405...
    Else from here:
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/pl...
    Or
Completely uninstall it, use your HP support site to get all all the latest versions of drivers & softwares.
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6978815&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4059
As far as I see it, HP support assistant helps me to chat with the Technical support automatically and nothing else. For everything else I use my support page.
If you're not uninstalling it, I suggest you change the settings of it to "Notify" of any update and NOT allow it to install anything automatically.

  • HP Support Assistant not installing graphics updates

I am trying to update my graphics driver through the HP Support Assistant, as it tells me that there is an update to it. It goes through the process of downloading the update, but it doesn't instal. I have already tried uninstalling the support assistant with Microsoft Fixit and reinstalling. I even ran the assistant as Administrator to see if it was a permissions issue. Unfortunately the driver page for my computer (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-110-000-Desktop-PC-series/5359000/model/5365304/drivers) does not have the new one 10.18.10.3621Ap1/sp67247.
Do I need to delete my old graphics driver first? Is there a place where I can just direct download it and install myself? Is there a location where the Support Assistant downloads it to that I can get it from there? Any help that isn't simply "Uninstall and Reinstall" would be greatly appreciated.
Included are pictures of the Support Assistant and what is happening.

I have read your post on how your HP Support Assistant is not installing graphics updates on your desktop computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure your HP Support Assistant software is functioning correctly, I recommend re-installing the original software and hardware drivers that first came with your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8). To update the newly installed software, please follow this resource on Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8).
I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following the steps in this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8). This should return your system back to factory defaults.

  • HP Support Assistant not installing power2go update

    Hi all
I have a week old hp envy and i have just recieved a new update for power2go the support assistant downloads the update but when it goes to install i get an x and it tells me to click next but no reason as to why it hasnt installed the update.
    Any ideas please

Sorry you're having problems with your PC.  Since you mention an update I'd recommend starting with a system restore (not recovery) that returns your system to a point in time when it was working properly.
Click HERE for how to perform a system restore if you need assistance.   If HPSA works after the restore you can attempt to update it again.  Hopefully the update will load and run correctly this time.
If a system restore and re-update do not successfully remedy the issue then you may want to uninstall and reinstall the HPSA.  If you need assistance with that let us know here on the forum.
Thanks for being an HP customer!
