Re-installing iTunes after operating system upgrade

Hi,
Just recently I upgraded my PC form WindowsXP to Windoes7, 64bit.
I had iTunes on my main drive, so that is gone and I want to re-install iTunes, or install the latest version of it.
I still have my old iTunes music library on another hard-drive, so I was wondering if it's possible to install iTunes and link it to my old library, that way I would not have to rip all my CD's again.
Does anybody know if this is possible at all, or do I really have to start all over again putting my CD's into a new iTunes library?
Thanks,
Lars

What exactly is on your 2nd HD? Is it the entire itunes folder (which contains your itunes database files) or is it just the itunes content folders (music, videos, podcasts, etc)?
The itunes database file is named iTunes Library.itl
If that is on your 2nd HD, then do a shift-start of itunes and select it.
By that I mean, press AND HOLD the shift key. Keep pressing until you see hte prompt to choose an existing library.
If you do not have your old database file, you will need to open Windows Explorer to the 2nd HD, and drag & drop the itunes folder into the itunes screen. Drop it on the word LIBRARY.

  • After operating system upgrade my iTunes doesn't have my Apps

I updated my MacBook Pro to the new operating system today.  Unfortunately the update crashed my iphone and i had to restore it to the original settings and then restore it from my latest back up (which fortunately i backed it up today).  However, I only have about 10% of my apps on my phone.  I then went to iTunes to try to restore my apps from there but I can't find the list of all my previously purchased/downloaded apps.   Please help!

I've been fooling around and discovered a couple of problems.  I couldn't understand why apps I KNEW that i paid for and were on my phone were now showing up as a charge.  Turns out I have overlapping problems at play here.  I purchased a MacBook Pro a couple of months ago and a friend set it up for me.  Turns out that he didn't make my MacBook "authorized" for my iTunes account.   I did that and then the apps changed to show "downloaded" so I no longer had to pay to download it again.  I thought I had solved my problem.  But the apps still weren't showing up as a list for me to sync.  I downloaded a couple again, hoping that it would help me find where they were going, and it did go to the screen that showed what had been downloaded and the pages from my phone.  I tried to sync and received a warning.  Apparently my apps are all connected to my iTunes library from my old laptop (which has been reformated and given to my Mom so thats not a solution).  It says that if i sync now, i will forever lose all the apps i have in that other library.
Any ideas how to fix this?    I could start from scratch... but i hope I don't have to do that.

  • Won't Print Color After Operating System Upgrade

Within the last year I purchased a LaserJet CP1525nw color, and I recently upgraded to Windows 7 32-bit and now I can't print color.  I've tried loading the driver from the CD that originally came with the print and I get an error message saying that it can not install the driver.  I've looked on the HP website to see if there are any updates for this printer and I can't seem to find any.  I was able to find a list of devices that are supported by Windows 7, and a list of devices that are not supported by Windows 7 and my printer was not on either list.
I'm wondering if there is anything that I've missed as far as fixes or updates for this problem, or am I just out of luck with wanting to print color with this printer now that I've upgraded to Windows 7.

    Hi Akfshslyr,
Try installing the full feature software and driver for this printer.

  • No audio on incoming or outgoing calls after operating system upgrade

I have iphone 4.....Everything was working fine with it until today when I upgraded to iOS 5.  My condition seems to be described here in several other posts where the phone app appears to be working fine but I can't hear anyone and no one can hear me once connected.  I called tech support who advised to do a full reset....which I did many times with no luck.  Each time...the problem continued. I got one call out of the phone after the upgrade.
I tried the head phone jack solution which appeared commonly throughout but also did not have any luck.
Out of pure frustration.....I decided to drop my phone about a meter on its back side.  I figured it couldn't hurt.
Tried again...and everything is working fine now.
I have no explanation.  I did 10+ resets and it was not fixing the problem.....dropped it once and I'm back in business and everything is working normally again.

Any good news for my Disabled phone brothers?
Will iOS 5.1 resolve this freeeking bug issue?
What developers say? Apple had noticed the issue or just ignoring and tryng to be dumb as always?
    Please let me know.

I just installed the Lion operating system, basically to upgrade my iPhone. I didn't realize that my Microsoft Office 2004 application would no longer work. I have been using Word for my writing and I receive most of my emails with Word attachments. I have been using Apple products for years, always touting their reliability and customer service. I am not a techie, I just want to be able to do what I do on the computer and Apple always fulfilled my needs. Now I am told because of some operating system gobbledygook, I have to go out and purchase new software to use Word. This is despicable. I see no particular benefit to using Lion, but I do see a lot of detriments. Apple now seems to have turned into Microsoft, making software obsolete so they can make more money and to **** with the customer. You can be sure that my next computer will be a PC. I have completely lost confidence in Apple.

I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

    hi Emily!
(apologies for being taken aback by your previous post about this ... we've had a second report of a 1304 since then.)

I have a Mac running OS X 10.4.11 with a 1.83 intel core duo   what is the highest operating system upgrade that I can get?

You can check to see if yours meets the system requirements for Snow Leopard - that would be the highest; Lion will not run on your machine.
Please note that the minimum 1 GB RAM is a minimum - 2 GB would be better.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A
You can buy it at the Apple Store, other online resellers, or ebay (but be careful there to only bid on a new retail shrinkwrapped package to you don't get suckered into a used install disk which won't work on other machines).

I erased my HD and could not install lion. if I turn on the mac now all I see is a folder with a question-mark. How can I install a new operation system?

Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

I want to install a third operating system on my macbook pro. I already have windows and i want install unix or linux in there. Is it possible??

Yes, it's possible, but if your Windows system is on a Boot Camp partition then you have to first remove it. Then create however many partitions you want for the operating systems. You have OS X on one, so you need two more - one for Windows and one for Linux. You then install Windows and Linux separately to their respective partitions. Download rEFIt
Use it as the replacement bootloader so you can properly boot from each OS properly.

i have the only account on my laptop so have checked and am the account administrator
i run windows 7 home premium
I have the same problem and
have followed the link uninstalling in the correct order,
    then restarted as per instructions,
went to Apple to download itunes,
    hit download now,
Visit the iTunes download page. Click Download Now to download the iTunes installer. When prompted, click Save (instead of Run).
did not get a save instead of run prompt
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup (the installer you downloaded in step 3).
If you have Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Choose "Run as administrator."
i can only click run as administrator from right clicking the shortcut on my desktop screen
If iTunes fails to install or repair, it might be necessary to remove components left from a previous installation of iTunes and then reinstall.

CS6 Camera Raw - I can now only crop using aspect ratio in the custom crop setting rather than being able to set the dims in cm and inches? anyone know how to revert? ever since installing new mac operating system things have been strange!

    Hi Kglad.
I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)
here is the new tutorial for CC -  my guess is they have scrapped the control we had over the custom crop settings

I have been trying to install window 7 operating system through booth camp assistant, i will finish all the stages for window to complete installation it will hook. the installation cannot be able to complete and i really install windows on it, please i need an assistance on how to go about it.

Right now I have 6 different systems installed. Windows XP, 7, and 8 plus Linux Mint, Commodore, and OS X Snow Leopard (for old times sake), all running on Mountain Lion.
I recommend reading the user manual as it greatly helps getting through the steps, however an intuitive person should pick it up fairly easily.
Thanks to BobTheFisherman for the link.
There are other ways to get Windows on a Mac but I'm a big fan of open-source software.
Give it a try. You might like it or it may not be your cup of tea.
